Review Crooked Tailor - Castle Hill

The hills has sorely needed a good watering hole and finally here it is. A good range of craft beers paired with some good pub food makes this place great. Cool decor and chill place to hang out

We visited twice in as many days to cover the different times/experience. Saturday night around 6pm and sunday night around 8pm. We tried some of the dishes, chicken and potato which was enjoyable though a few niggles auch as the mushrooms being undercooked. We also tried their buffalo wings with dip which was nice though unusual in flavour. Price wise these felt fractionally too much for the quality but not offensive. Beers were of standard craft beer variety and price. Our sunday nught beers felt more enjoyabke in the cosy atmosphere. Lots of younger groups here on a sunday night but still room to walk in and be seated. The passionfruit truffle desert was hiwever quite delicious. Id rate the tailor higher save the price- quality consistency isnt quite doing it for me. The staff are friendly and it is a nice setting. For the hills though its probably the best avaliable small bar.

Great team. Awesome cocktails and fantastic food. The menu is always changing so keep checking in. The guys here are always willing to make the classic cocktails or find something to suit your tastes. Wine and beer choices are above average also. Sit at the bar or find a cosy booth, this place is a great venue to meet with friends for a drink. The quality of a high end inner city cocktail bar in the hills.

Wonderful service, cocktails and bar food. Had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great for a date night. Loved the Australian Navy cocktail.

Cool little cocktail bar. Great choices on the food menu... good for sharing. Love the onion rings, burger, fries, fried chicken, squid, roasted cauliflower salad.

Love this place, a great little bar in the area, probably the best. Service could have been better as we were doing a lot of waiting. Overall a really cosy, well decorated nook for friends or dates. Limited vegan and vegetarian options, recommend the fries but advise against the truffle fries as they are quite bland. Recommend the following cocktails: mexicano 69, bottoms up, antibiotic. Wasnt a huge fan of the money melon.

Nice inner city vibe finally arrives in the outer suburbs of Sydney. The burgers on Sunday night are nice and cocktail selection is decent, but requires just a little more in terms of presentation variety and depth. Overall, a welcome new addition to Castle Hill.

Great quirky little bar. Share plates are average. Stay away from the fried offerings.

We visited before a movie. It's a relatively small place, best to book ahead. Atmosphere is more like The Crooked Carpenter, fairly eclectic hipster-ish. Some booths, some tables, some big share bar type seating, some lounges, a small upstairs mezzanine level. Lighting is "mood" style, somewhat dim, but enough to see and eat by. They were playing a little backgound music, which was nice, although at some point the lights went down further and the music was turned up higher, which made hearing people difficult and meant you needed to talk at a much louder level. I really hate this. It's not a night club, music should be background only, you should need to shout to make yourself heard. Service - Was very good, we had a number of people ask if we needed anything, although this did mean there was a bit of overlap in terms of people serving us. Example: We'd just ordered drinks and food, then 30 seconds later someone else approached asking us if we'd like to order. Might do well for management to split the place into section and allocate a server per section. Also, we were never offered table water, and our food turned up before our drinks, which I thought was odd. Drinks - Their cocktail selection is really pretty good. But overall, selection was ok. For a "wine bar" their wine selection is a little light. Also, their beer selection is pretty ordinary, I really would have liked to have seen some more local craft beers stocked. And at $10 a bottle a little pricey for beer. Food - We didn't go with the full main meals, we chose a few things from the light and starter menus. The Polenta Truffle Chips are really good, the prawn toast was ok but tasted a little to much of deep fried toast and could also have used a dipping sauce, the cheeseburger spring rolls are also pretty good. After those we got the pork belly crackling, this looks like it's thinly taken off the meat and deep fried which was ok but not as good as standard pork crackling from a roast pork, just lacks the flavour. After that I was still hungry so we got the fries which were acceptable. There were some seafoody things there as well which looked good, but seemed a little expensive for starters. The mains looked pretty good, and I'd go with one of them if we visit again. Overall very nice evening.

Went last night to celebrate our anniversary and had the best experience... bar staff were amazing, made the best cocktails without us making any selections...all on recommendation...staff went out of their way to make our night memorable... food was tasty and I highly recommend the cheese burger spring rolls... quirky, funky and a must do venue! You won't be disappointed

Really bad.. went there for someone's birthday on Friday evening.. there were 12 - 15 people on our table.. took 1 hour to get drinks from the time of order.. they have a mandatory menu for 50 bucks per person.. the entres started coming at 10.30, we were there at 8 pm.. few small shared plates prob enough for 6-8 pax.. didn't even serve the fulll menu, 2 items in entree and one main dish shared.. basically paid 50 bucks for 3 chicken wings and couple of olives.. and a disgusting chicken leg for mains... wat a rip off.. eventually we jus left at 11.30 hungry..

Always love a visit to Crooked Tailor. The expanded menu is great-personal fav are the cheese burger spring rolls. Had the Dino-rib with grains and it was tender and tasty- highly recommend! The waitress we had on this visit lacked the usual charm I expect from this place but it was still a great night.

Went here for a date, and we both enjoyed the place. The staff were friendly and made some great recommendations for both drinks and food. The place is small, but has a really nice cosy atmosphere. We had a few drinks and ordered some share plates, and we were amazed by how quickly we became full. Only negative was service started to drop once the place got busier (had to ask twice for water, then ended up going to the bar and getting the barman to give us water). A minor thing, but otherwise a good night. Will be coming back again

This is an awesome place. My boyfriend and I go here for special occasions like anniversaries and whenever. The food is sensational. I love the atmosphere. Their cocktails are enticing and colourful.

I really wanted to enjoy this venue however it missed the mark. In particular, my drinks were a let down. They served me a Hendrick’s & Tonic with lime squeezed throughout... a bit concerning given its well known that Hendrick’s is served with cucumber.

Some staff were friendly, but $18 for a cocktail that was almost all ice was ridiculous. Plus the music was that loud I couldn’t hear my friends, maybe you need to be seated away from a speaker. Either way an awful experience. This was my second chance. Not returning

Had a vegetarian banquet but it seemed to offer not much food at all per head. Seemed to be a rip off given we had 9 people and only 4 tiny desserts came out to be shared with just a bite of each dessert per person. Tasty food but won’t be back due to food portion size.

Great food and atmosphere and the staff were store friendly. Are before 7pm so it was quiet and we got special attention because we were only ones there. Looking forward to getting back later in the evening when it's full and pumping with vibes

This one is tough to review. I really rate it as a cocktail bar, especially tucked away in Castle Hill, but I don't rate the food super highly.

In terms of a bar it's so unexpected for the area. It's intimate, trendy, and an awesome place to go for a cocktail or a drink from their well stocked bar. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly and will help create something to your taste.

The food wasn't bad but wasn't great either. I had a deep fried Mac n cheese burger but it lacked a lot of flavour unfortunately.

Came here for the NY Cheesburger Spring Rolls. Itwas a bit of a let down. The Corn Riblets is a must have!! Got a hipster vibe to it!! It was worth the try though..

Went in here on a Tuesday night, it was fairly busy but only two staff on so everything took a while, which is understandable. However, the cocktails ordered in my group ranged from OK to almost undrinkable. I ordered one of the special cocktails, which was like drinking straight citrus juice. Almost our whole group ordered the burger. Our sides of fries arrived before the entrees and well before the mains. The burgers were uniquely inedible and no one finished. We spent the rest of the night with grease and meat sweats. After several requests for the bill, we just wanted to be out of there so paid at the bar. I don't begrudge the staff who were doing the best they could, but the management has some explaining to do regarding the food and bev. The decor of the place is cool, Castle Hill trying to be hipster.

Seriously good. "NY Cheeseburger Spring Rolls" are off the hook. The "Snap, Crackle, Pop" was like nothing I've seen before.

Cocktails are on point 👌🏼 the "Delicious Sour" is appropriately named, "Kentiky Punch" was a great infusion of fruits and tea.

Well done team 👏🏼 will be back very regularly!

What we had we were happy, the salad, heirloom tomato and burrata salad was great, and the Tailor'd burger was up their with the pretenders, definitely a revisit, they stock ASAHI BLACK, no way, only ever had this beer at a quirky Japanese place at Chippendale. ASAHI BLACK!!!!

Great atmosphere, great service, nice ambiance.

Glaze your taste buds at the newest cosy wine bar that just opened last night and conveniently located in the hub of Castle Hill. There is great potential for this bar being one of the very few outlets that are open late in the area, and I can’t wait for them to perfect their food menu. Shake up your night with smooth classic cocktails as you snack on finger-licking buffalo wings, saucy sliders and spicy tuna tacos.

I'm stoked a casual wine bar like the Crooked Tailor has opened in the Hills area. There's a great vibe perfect for small catch-ups with a wide range of food and drink available too.

Great vibe and definitely a welcomed concept for The Hills District but definitely overpriced overall. Our group tried a huge array of cocktails which were very exxy and not that impressive especially for the size of the drinks vs the price. As for the food, the highlight would be the chilli corn carne with the nachos, good flavour and some punch of heat. But otherwise all the other food fell a bit flat, even more so when the bill came. We luckily were able to squeeze into a booth however I did not appreciate the passive aggressive staff pressuring our group to leave even though we were ordering plenty rounds of drinks and food. Although we did have more people come and join us over the course of the night and squeeze into the corner, it should be a positive that we had more paying customers come in. Great idea and would have liked to have made it a regular local spot particularly because there's not many other options, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere than try and be pretentious.

Excellent, amazing food, service and atmosphere well worth return visits and a great place for a Sunday evening catch up with friends. A great variety of snacks & the music is good as well.

Went here for dinner tonight with a mate. Immediately noticed the cosy wooden fit out with the soft lighting and the pot plants - all contributing towards great ambience. I had the BLT, a side of chips with a pear cider. The burger was solid - juicy patty, beautifully soft brioche bun, great flavours. Then had the Nutella crepe for dessert. All in all, it was a great meal, but for the price you can find better value in the area.

Ohh an excellent restaurant with great quality of service. There was no doubt about the drinks that was offered. Exotic taste of food and amazing experience. Aussies boys and chics should go here once.....
Jessica
Great looking place and very funky and relaxed. Food was decent although my fries were overdone. As they mainly serve cocktails it will be quite an expensive night. Between 3 of us it cost nearly $400 for 6 drinks each and food! Definitely save this one for more special nights.
A Food Fable
A great new bar to open up in Castle Hill. It's very popular now at the moment (after being on Broadsheet), so it's rather crowded and loud. If you can, get a reserved table. They have table service up to a certain point at night. The food is ok, but not the best for what you pay. The Carnitas was a highlight and I would recommend it. The chips are a big big serving if you want something to nibble on. Would not really recommend the hot wings. The Greenie salad looks like a fried rice, but tastes like a salad. The drinks are pretty good. Service is good, but a bit understaffed once it gets very busy.

Good service and nice ambience. But cost wise food and drinks are on the higher side. Also the music (at least on Friday nights) is too loud to enjoy a conversation. Wont be returning here unless we are all in a party mood!

Funnily enough I only found out about this place when a friend snapchatted me to ask of I was here (I wasn't) because they saw a side profile of a person and thought it was me. It got me asking, what even is Crooked Tailor? So after a quick search I decided "yes, why not have some cocktails on a week night?" and grabbed two friends to come along.

Absolutely amazing little lace is an area that is dying for a small bar. The food was delicious. Special mention to the Buffalo wings and the burgers. The Nutella crepes were amazing too. As for cocktails there's a good list with variations on classics and also the option to ask the bar to make your favourites.
