Nothing bad to say about this place. Dropped in for some lunch and we were greeted by a friendly young chap. Menu is different to what is on Zomato, but we went with the veggie burger and arancini balls. Both were fresh and delicious! Baked goods inside looks yum. Not a bad place for a standard lunch and nice service.
Been here a couple of times now. Great atmosphere, fresh and tasty food. Big thanks for the complimentary bottle of chilled water on a very hot day. I had a BLAT which was perfect, fresh quality ingredients.
Nice atmosphere and coffee. They were the only place still serving food later in the afternoon in Castlemaine and we had a lovely pie with a German-style potato salad. Nice selection of cakes and things, and friendly staff.
Incredible food and service. A must if you're ever in Castlemaine. The sweet potato and black bean burgers are top ten, check them out! Peter and staff are also very accommodating to all dietary requirements!
Perfect little cafe in Castlemaine - were looking for a nice local cafe on way through from Bendigo.
The atmosphere was cosy and local - wooden tables and comfortable seating. Limited but fantastic menu.
The off the bone ham toastie was perfect - and the zucchini and corn fritters perfectly balanced with ricotta, spinach and chutney.
Lovely service and stayed for a while to relax and read the paper - not rushed at all.
Looking forward to the house special rabbit pie which we took home for dinner.
A great spot to visit in Castlemaine.
Lovely spot in Castlemaine. We found the food tasty, the vibe relaxed and the service friendly (though perhaps a little slow for those of us sitting outside...or maybe that was because of a busy Saturday on a long weekend). Coffee wasn't bad either!
Great little cafe, offers great food and service. Would highly recommend. Food fresh and of high quality. Has parking right outside. Seems busy sometimes
Great little cafe food was good and service was fantastic good to see knowledgeable floor who are happy to answer your questions but get rid of the wings off the menu
Great coffee- authentic chai and well presented gallery upstairs. Visited here twice last weekend for coffee, the coffee was really good, prompt service and the chai Latte was "the real deal" (not powder) - always a good sign - will be back for breakfast next time for sure. Also the gallery upstairs is well worth a look!

Very busy Castlemaine Cafe with an arty/rustic décor. Popped in for lunch today & was fascinated by the unique arty/rustic décor however my menu choice, their salmon dish just missed the mark, but the chips were to die for. My meal was served within 15 minutes of ordering. Young staff were polite, cheerful and very helpful - overall I liked it & will return in due course to try a different menu item.

Just had a lovely veggie burger which they were very happy to veganise. Will definitely go back and will have a soy latte too.

Ran like a rabbit out of the cold castlemain rain.... ...and was greeted snugly at Run Rabbit Run. Comfy cafe with deli/provedore items to take home. Today, we rain out snow and rain from well-resourced Kyneton and was really pleased with the menu here, and the lovely customer service (our waitress was so genuinely accommodating and pleasant, worth of commendations alone!). Difficult-to-choose-from menu covering standard all day brekky items to savoury lunch items. Husband had beef burger and devoured it without talking, ie, hit the spot (gorgeous zesty side salad worth trying alone). My scrambled eggs with side of avo and fetta was a little small if you're after a hearty winter meal but taste made up for it (spied the soup of the day and that looked lovely too). Semi decent coffee and good range of teas rounded it off nicely. Will return for salads...or vege burger (on GF bun! yeah), or rice pudding, or their pies...or their biccies?
Nicely Done. We haven't been to Castlemaine before but a recent road trip from Adelaide landed us there late afternoon. Nothing in town was open but as we were hanging for a coffee and something to eat we asked a guy on the street and he pointed the way to Run Rabbit Run, it's tucked a way a bit why don't they have a sign? But it was pretty busy inside so I guess they don't need one? Fairly disappointed when they told us the kitchen was closed but then they pointed to all the things we could still order. I had rabbit pie, yep they actually have rabbit, and salad I would have prefered chips but beggars cant be choosers. Wife had quiche and salad both our meals were generous and nice and fresh even though it was pretty much the end of the day. Finished up with coffee which was great and a couple of cakes which they make there. Staff were friendly and pretty, which never hurts. We liked it so much that when we finished up in Bendigo a week later we came back for breakfast. Why dont you open one in Adelaide, we'll go there? Thanks
Just terrific. Just got back to south gippy after a memorable weekend in Castlemaine for their new Jazz Festival. I have to say all the venues were lovely and Castlemaine was the perfect host for the event given it's stunning architecture, however most of the acts that we wanted to see were at Run Rabbit Run, so that's where we mainly were. It became our home away from home as we ended up having breakfast there 3 mornings, dinner twice and many, many coffees. We loved there coffee so much that we ended up getting takeaways to take to the other venues. The staff really couldn't have been nicer, looking after us, remembering our names and greeting us warmly. The food was simple but homestyle and delicious. All in all I couldn't compliment them enough on what was obviously a very busy weekend. Well be back soon.
This rabbit can run. Came up with my husband on a day trip from Fitzroy. We stopped in at Run Rabbit Run, because of it's charming and welcoming atmosphere. Food was delicious! City quality dining in a casual and friendly setting. Coffee was amazing, though the barista was a little gruff, but that kind of added to the allure and charm. Waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable. Have tried Saffs on our last visit, and didn't rate it, but will definitely come back to The Rabbit.
Cool!. On a weekend getaway we popped in for coffee stayed for brunch, judging by how busy it was we aren't the only ones to discover this little newbie.
Really enjoyed the food, they had Black Pudding much to the delight of companion, great atmosphere and super friendly staff, wish it was my local.
Cute one of the local cafe in the town..Went on a Wednesday some shops operate only from Wed up to Saturday.. A nice drive out of Melbourne.Coffee good n cakes offered we got something salted Carmel sweet cake one serve. You can serve 2 people can easy share.
Such a quirky little cafe and gallery that serves top notch food.
A smaller range menu means quality of what is available. Come hungry as portion size is generous. Highly recommended
Big tasty brekki meals. Beautiful quirky little cafe. Great place to pop into.
Popped in for a coffee and a croissant. Best cafe ever! Absolutely delicious coffee and I haven’t had such a good croissant since I was last in France. Can’t recommend Run Rabbit Run enough. They also have a load of goods to buy, we brought a birthday card (awesome design of native birds). If you’re passing through Castlemaine, this is definitely where you want to stop.
Lovely Cafe!! Top service ..
The food was amazing! And the iced coffee yum.
But that's not all..
Go upstairs and see the vintage wedding dresses omg...
Lovely coffee, and really tasty brunch menu. The portion sizes are enormous and somewhat intimidating though. On both occasions that we have been there has been wasted food which I hate given how much food Australia throws away each year. I think in future sharing a dish between two people is the way forward.
The corn fritter is an incredible dish in every way. The hotcake would do with being smaller but with the same amount of syrup so the dish isn't quite as dry. Over half of the hotcake went uneaten and I was still absolutely stuffed!
Stopped here on Sunday after a visit to a local antiques fair. To their credit this place remained open, whilst a number of eateries in Castlemaine were closed. Run, Rabbit, Run was quite busy, and nearly all the indoor tables were full. Enjoy a BLAT and a refreshing local apple cider. Reasonably priced, good food, but the menu is very limiting. Thanks for a nice lunch
