Great fine dining experience in casual cafe environment. We got to visit their veggie garden, where they grow all the veggies they use in their menu. Chef Fredriko uses seasonal produce to create amazing dishes. The brisket, okonomoyaki loaded fries were out of this world. The best custard tart I’ve ever had. A must visit place.
The food was excellent, in preparation and presentation, with ingredients freshly sourced from their own “kitchen garden” on site. Staff were all friendly and polite. Would strongly recommend Bellbird Dining & Bar as the affordable fine dining place! The table and seats could be a bit better but this is a Council owed and operated business, so very acceptable.
Its finally arrived, a lunchtime venue within a cultural icon located in a southwestern Sydney suburb. It offers unique fresh cuisine unseen in The Liverpool region. You can experience a meal that has been built around produce that has been grown in the Powerhouse Museum gardens. Meeting Head Chef Frederico was a delight and a tour amongst the gardens was an absolute privilege. The Artemis wine's flattered the most delicate of flavours and the remarkable cuisine. Bellbird you are somewhat of a masterpiece, an indispensable addition to the region.
What an absolutely delicious lunch I had here today. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. The broad bean pesto was amazing and the ricotta gnocchi was so light, fluffy and satisfying. You wouldn't get anything that fresh and interesting closer to the city without paying double the amount. What an absolute gem of a place.
Thanks Federico and Craig!
Delicious, fresh and tasty food!
Amazing chefs and fabulous vege garden
Will definitely be back
Amazing food prepared by Federico. Very nice vegetable garden
The food is delicious and the staff are lovely and so accommodating.
Highly recommended! Ordered the Handmade Ricotta Gnocchi and it was delicious! Definitely coming back! Service was great as well!
Outstanding food and exceptional service!
Great local. Amazing setting.
Located at the Casula Powerhouse, this casual dining cafe/restaurant certainly punches above its weight. The service is hospitable and the customers are certainly taken care of here. Dining both indoors and out gives you an al fresco option.
It doesn’t look like a place where you would receive quality meals as dining outlets in tourist attractions tend to either be overpriced, underwhelming in food quality or both. You will definitely not experience that here. The quality and presentation of their dishes are top notch. I especially enjoy that they have their own kitchen garden which means that seasonal produce is at hand and well utilised.
We got to try a few dishes between us and the flavours are spectacular. Complimentary bread with butter/olive oil/balsamic vinegar is brought out first. Fluffy bread and accompaniment are lovely.
The menu is split into Carnivore, Vegetarian, and Birdy To Go (casual simpler meals) as well as sides and desserts. We had the Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi which were pillowy pieces of goodness. It was light and a great vegetarian meal. Bags of flavour too. The Slow Braised Beef Brisket is tender and melt in the mouth. The creamed leek was creamy and a nice accompaniment to the dish. The jus was delicious too. The highlights were Roasted Pork Belly. The meat was succulent and the crackling was crisp as you could ask for. Cabbage was absolutely divine. My revelation was the Fried Brussel Sprouts. Surround by the creamy sesame dressing I couldn’t stop eating it and I’m not a brussel sprout fan by any stretch of the imagination.
We finished off with Chocolate Brownie which was perfect as chocolately but not too heavy served with dulce de leche and cream. Coffees were nice too.
You really need to try this place for yourself and excellent value to be had as could easily pay more and be satisfied. Definitely a highlight in this area.
Bellbird Dining focuses on seasonal produce straight from the local farm or veggie garden (they grow their own kale, corn, asparagus, artichokes) straight to the table. Menu designed by Head Chef Federico Rekowski & Sous Chef Steven Pham.
Standout dishes for me was the prawn risotto, handmade gnocchi, okonomiyaki fries and pork belly. My favourite dessert was the Mandarin & Almond cake which was super moist, but I'll also suggest giving the coconut affogato a try (sounds weird but it works).
Service was attentive and its a great place to dine with family or friends. Its located in the Casula Powerhouse, so you can take a look after. The venue is also right next to Casula train station, so very easy to get to.

A stunning venue set amongst the garden & looking out onto the outside of the powerhouse. A quiet and relaxing atmosphere, the food is next level and when you see the prices it’s more than worth it. I find this cafe is highly underrated and overlooked when it shouldn’t be!. I throughly enjoyed my visit, leaving with a bag of homegrown peppers, eggplants, zucchini & capsicums. It’s a great idea selling their extra produce at the front desk.

Last month I nipped back into Bellbird Dining & Bar for their first ever beer degustation - a collaboration between Casula Powerhouse’s 80-seater restaurant and their favourite beer supplier, Stockade Brew Co.. The event saw head chef Federico Rekowski and sous chef Steven Pham pit their cuisine-matching skills against a fantastic range of craft beers. Sitting down in their flower box lined-outdoor dining annex, we were instantly handed an ice cold Stockade Brew Co. Sesh Mid Strength Ale. This citrussy, lightly floral light beer is only 3.5% ABV (making the bottle one standard drink). It was designed to get us through the talking part of the event, as we were introduced to Stockade Brew Co. who began their life in Smeaton Grange, about 25 kilometers from where we are sitting. The site was a large contract brewer, that was...

Who doesn’t love a little “wine time”? We know we sure do! We were fortunate enough to attend a wine tasting hosted by Jeff Aston from Tractorless Vineyard at Bellbird Dining & Bar within the Casula Powerhouse, and it was divine!. Tractorless Vineyard produces a number of award-winning wines created thanks to Jeff’s dedication to using old world winemaking skills and techniques, and his desire to not rush the process to allow flavours to develop as they should.
We were invited to a wine tasting with matching canapes here by ompty media and it was just a lovely place.
It's quite hidden so unless someone refers you, you honestly wouldn't know about this place.
The food was to the standards of fine dining and is quite flavorsome.
My favourite thing was the soup!
The area we were seated was surrounded by windows so the lighting was great for photos.
The service was also really good.
Would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.
Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is located in a repurposed power station in the heart of Liverpool and is a cultural facility to showcase a range of exhibitions, theatre, music, performance and events. We attended the opening of the new restaurant, introduced by Director of the Powerhouse Museum, Craig Donarski in late 2017, but returned for a second visit (and certainly not the last).
Bellbird Dining + Bar is a casual restaurant located at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, a local cultural and arts facility with a number of rotating exhibitions. The restaurant serves up a menu consisting of vibrant flavours ranging from French and Asian through to South American, all made using local ingredients. The restaurant sources more than 65% of its produce from the vegetable garden located right outside the powerhouse and in order to create a seasonal Modern Australian menu.
Lovely afternoon checking out the new Bellbird cafe at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. The restaurant is offering fine dining style food at pub prices! Nothing over $18.
Think swordfish, King Salmon, free range chicken, WA octopus..the menu changes depending on what's freshly available, local, accessible and affordable.
Best of all 65% of the produce used are grown and harvested from the garden next door. Very cool!
