Review Almazett - Caulfield

Andrew L
Tasy dishes with great customer service. The whole grilled snapper had the delicious char grilled flavour. The tahini sauce complimented the flavours very well. The kibbi bi lahem were crispy and flavoursome. Tabbouleh was also very nice, herbs used were fresh.

Had our office Xmas party of ~20 and it was a flawless experience. Great ubiquitous food that just kept on coming. Every course was well received, timed well and extremely tasty right through to the desserts and coffee. Place was buzzing with energy. Banquet was terrific value.

Great food, lovely atmosphere, family friendly... some strong seasoning in some dishes however I am sure thats just my palate. Will certainly become a regular local favourite.

To be honest we were quite disappointed ! I was recommended this restaurant by a Lebanese friend to take my Lebanese partner on a date to, she said it was really fantastic. We were unfortunately very disappointed with the food, it was quite average, the portion sizes were good but the flavours were just not that tasty. The service was friendly and attentive, unfortunately it was mid-week so It was extremely quiet and had no atmosphere whatsoever. That being said it has a lot of other good reviews, so go try it yourself :-)

By far the best Lebanese food I've eaten in ages! Awesome service and cosy decor. I brought my family here last weekend and we all ordered the banquet which was non stop tasty food. The belly dancer was heaps of fun and we all had a wonderful night. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcomed. 5 stars all the way!

We first ate at Almazett in the 70's - a regular Friday night treat - always fabulous food, service and entertainment any time we visited. Returned last week after several years away - delighted to find the same level of hospitality & delicious food - like a warm hug from an old friend! Thank you Almazett - you are legendary!

A classic Lebanese in the area. Been coming to this spot since I've arrived to Melbourne, and have always been a return customer (not as much as I wish, but at least every now and then). VERY good value for me! If you ask me.. this restaurants pricing for Melbourne standards is one of my personal best. Very honest, very generous portions for such minimal prices. The way its really done in the Middle East. It proves you can eat a quantity quality food for less in this city (: - thanks for the continuous great and generous food guys! --- ask them for the garlic dip for your meats! or even potatoes ;) Batata harra.. one of my absolute favorites.

It was our first time visit there, but. Extremely bad! First we were given the wrong information about their live dancing time. By the time we arrived she left. The girl who served us was very rude and seemed frustrated if we asked her anything about the items on the menu. When the food was on the table it was completely different of how she described to us. My son had to wait for an other 20 minutes for the right dish to arrive. While cleaning the table the stupid girl grabbed the plate while my son wasn't even done yet! Rude!!!! Their prices are way high For the rubesh food the cook. We WON'T GO BACK! What a shame!

Terrible service. Only ones in there but took 30 minutes to be served. Food was also slow. <br/><br/>We asked for a baby high chair before booking and when we arrived there was none in sight. We asked twice before it came out 20minutes later. We had to hold the baby while we waited

Great place and lovely food. They have a good vegetarian spread as well. Very good service and yes, the dance was nice too. The table setting and the ambience is good.
Josh_hajis
Very good Lebanese cuisine,<br/><br/>The food and service is good but I particularly enjoyed the banquet. It was perfect for my large group, offering variety and excellent portions. Whilst i prefer the Lebanese cuisine establishments on Sydney Road, this is still good and definitely worth a visit.

Amazing value and service and authentic food! <br/>Dated interior but that’s my only negative. Had the seafood banquet and was struggling to get through it all. <br/>Party of 10- some quite fussy- one vegetarian but they catered for all and everyone was very satisfied!!!!
Melissa
Very authentic, homemade authentic food. We had the mezza banquet for 2 and all the food was great. The babaganoush was a standout. Nice ambience, staff were friendly, but the food was the real highlight (as it should be).<br/>For authentic Lebanese food, definitely recommend Almazett.

Took my staff to this restaurant for dinner. They seemed to struggle with feeding 16 people. The food was tasty and not too oily. I would recommend for take away or smaller groups. It was also a little off putting with nobody else in restaurant. Would have been better atmosphere with more people in there. <br/><br/>Will try again in the near term. <br/><br/>Probably a good place for take away.

Delicious food. Lamb cutlets and deep fried cauliflower with tahini were my favourites. Got a seat on Friday night without any booking. Lots of people getting takeaways

Pretty good place decor and food is amazing we ordered the banquet and while the food is great and lots of it for $50 it was way to rushed they really need to slow down times between bringing food out.. also they have belly dancers on Saturday night which was pretty cool
Tanya
Fantastic value for money ! Definitely recommend it. 34 per person for all<br/>you can eat and the food was great quality.......................

I was expecting a bit better of Almazett, even though I'd been told that it wasn't right up there as far as middle eastern restaurants go. Even so, we had a meal here that was certainly not unenjoyable, just nothing mind-blowing. We had a group of 8, and it took a little time to decide whether to have the banquet or just do the a la carte. Whether it was because it's more convenient for them to cook, or just better for their buck, we were encouraged by the waiter to do the banquet (which I hear often happens here). But we realised that it would be more cost effective to order a la carte, and this also meant that we could choose what we wanted, including seafood. Doing this meant that, In the end, we probably spent half the amount we otherwise would have, tried a wide variety of dishes, and were stuffed. I would recommend this option if you're in a medium to large group.<br/><br/>Naturally, for appetizers we got some dips and salads to eat with the pita bread. The labneh bi toom was a typical yoghurt style dip, with a garlic flavour. It was good, but a bit more sour than I'm used to. The baba ghanooj had good texture, but was lacking punch and smokiness. <br/>In the salad department, we ordered the tabouleh and the fattoush. The tabouleh was very nice, no complaints there except the flavours came through a little unevenly. I thought the fattoush was nice, but the fried bread can make or break it, and I didn't like this fried bread. It was too much like thin chips, and it didn't add that slightly grainy savouriness to compliment the other flavours in the salad.<br/>Next came the meat cigars and the arnabeet mekli (fried cauliflower). The meat cigars were--and I'll say it a few times in this review--pleasant but lacking flavour. Got mostly textural feeling out of it. The crunch of the pastry and the nice rough chewiness of the mince. Wasn't much emanating from either, sauce from the pastry or spices from the mince. Underwhelming. The cauliflower was probably my favourite dish, as this was both a new experience, and ticked the boxes for flavour. It seemed like it had been generously dusted or marinated in some spices before being fried, and had a delightful brown crispiness going on. Eaten with the tahina, it was gold. These were all followed by the chicken wings, kradis bi harr (grilled prawns in piquant sauce) and both lamb and chicken skewers. The chicken wings were decent, though noticeably dry, not terribly juicy. There was a pleasant amount of flavour. The prawns would have been my second favourite dish I think. They were also a bit dry, but the delightful charred flavour and the piquant sauce came together well and made it enjoyable. The grilled meats were decent, slightly more tough than what I've had previously, but these also has a pleasant amount of flavour and went down well. <br/>I think Almazett is a great place to come if you're looking for a cheaper middle eastern feed, which still boasts the decor and provides excellent menu choice. However, the quality of the food will not be the same as many of it's pricier counterparts.

Worth every dollar! Quality of food was amazing and service was impeccable. Very pleased and the ambience was really great. I used my Liven App tp pay and got a $50 bonus. You got to try this place out!

Strolled in here at 9.30pm on a weekday and still got a table. Loved the lamb and shish tawook. They can't go wrong with hummus as well. Served up some plates of pickled radish and gherkin which was yum. Overall,Delicious food and great service. Definitely one of my fave middle eastern places to eat. Will be back for sure ...

By far the best Lebanese in Melbourne. I've been to them all. Sat nights has free<br/>Belly dancing and it's BYO! <br/><br/>Lebanese sausages, fish with almond and tahini and the meat cigars are highlights.<br/><br/>Also been buying their hummus takeaway for the last 10 years. Best hummus south of the apartheid wall.
Simon J
I have been eating takeaway from Almazett years. It never disappoints. Two recent additions are new favourites. The Almazett wrap (with lamb and hommus) and Fried cauliflower. Highly recommended.

My friends and I went to visit another friend in Caulfield and we were looking for a place for dinner. We stumble upon this restaurant and thought to give it a try! Lebanese meal because we haven't tried any before. <br/>There were only 3 of us so we ordered 2 sets, one was the Kibbi bi Lahem and another was chicken skewers that has some roti/pita bread along. The best part about this restaurant is all the mains come in one rice and green beans. These 2 sets were enough to fill our tummy and the bill split came to a very reasonable price.($16 each) <br/>Also, the service was fast and people there are attentive and friendly. This place is worth more than just one visit, would definitely not hesitate to come back again!

The food here and the atmosphere is very authentic. I really felt like I stepped into Lebanon, into a restaurant from an Arabian nights movie. The service is top-notch and I especially love the selection of wines and Lebanese beer. I'm a huge fan of Lebanese desserts and this place did not disappoint; highly recommend it!

Took my father and family here for Father's Day on Sunday for dinner and we all loved it!!! We are from Lebanese background and usually my parents are fussy and do not eat Lebanese food outside than my mums cooking at home. But they loved Almazett and thought the food tastes a lot like it is cooked back in Lebanon. We loved the meat cigars and the fresh felafel. The tabouli and hummus was really yum and traditionally made as well. They had a belly dancer which was fun and the service was very friendly and polite. Even though the restaurant was fully booked the staff still made sure everyone was attended to. I have been here a few times and every time never disappoints. Overall it was a great experience and I will keep coming back to this cosy and warm restaurant where the food is always delicious.

It's been literally 20 years since I've been to Almazett. Nothing has changed, and that's fine with me. The food, service, and entertainment were great. A group of us are here on a Saturday night. It was crowded but the staff were hospitable, and handled the large crowds very well. We had the $40 banquet, which included generous dips, salad, meat and vegetarian morsels. The chicken wings were nicely blackened, and had that wonderful smokey taste. The main was lamb and chicken sis, string beans, and rice. Delicious. There was a belly dancer which really lifted the energy of the place. Both young and old joined in the fun (the youngest was a 5yo and oldest was a 100 year old lady who danced with the belly dancer). The deserts were very nice. Baklava, Turkish delight, and a pudding with pistachio and rose water. Choice of Turkish coffee or tea. A great night!

Had a work function here. Food is so so but the perfect place to entertain a big group. Belly dance was a lot of fun. <br/><br/>As there was too much a lapse between entree and main, I basically stuffed myself with the bread and dips (which was made really well) and didn't really have too much room for the other dishes after.<br/><br/>The beans I have to say was really good, the skewers could be warmer. Some / most had to leave before dessert because the time it took to clear dishes and bring out dessert, some left without even knowing there's dessert.<br/><br/>All in all, a fantastic experience for a big party. The ability to hang around and mingle before and after the meal with drinks does really make the night special and a suitable place for parties.

We returned to this dining institution, after 20 years. Room looks refurbished appropriately and had a good ambience.<br/>Fava bean entree was impressive, but unfortunately, the pita bread provided has not morphed into home made bread.<br/>Mains of lamb kebabs smothered with very flavoursome tomato sauce and silverbeet kibbi were great examples of quality home cooking. The accompanying rice and green beans were also tasty.<br/>Service was exemplary, coupled with BYO wine and Entertainment Gold card makes this restaurant exceptional value.<br/>

Had a great dining experience at the Almazett, the food was amazing, the Staff were super friendly, and the whole restaurant had a wonderful vibe.  I particularly recommend on getting the banquet mezza if you want to try a bit of everything, the food keeps on coming out, and the flavours are so authentic and amazing!! We went on a Saturday, there was a belly dancer performer lady doing some really amazing moves. I would definitely go there again.
Nomnom
Cosy small restaurant with well maintained interior and attentive and friendly staff. I felt however that the dishes we ordered were quiet "westernised" and not authentic middle eastern. This dish in the photo "Samakeh Tajin" is an example of non authenticity. I also felt the prices were very expensive, hummus cost $9 but was quiet small in serving despite being a staple. 3 skewers cost $24 and weren't filling of course. The menu though is quiet extensive and has a lot of middle eastern food often eaten at home and that you wouldn't expect to find in a restaurant. Apparently belly dancer is there sometimes but wasn't the night we went at 6pm.

I love this place! The food and service was perfect. I usually go to Arabic restaurants down Sydney Road but I can say the food and service at Almazett was far superior. If you are looking for authentic Lebanese food, you will love this place!

Went here with friends on a Friday night. <br/>Staff were very friendly and hospitable, right from making the booking. In addition, I was phoned an hour before our reservation to let us know the belly dancer wasn't going to be dancing that night just in case we wanted to cancel. This is true hospitable service. Belly dancer only attends when the restaurant has a lot of bookings so we knew in advance it wasn't going to be a full house. <br/>I'd been here once before and it was busy, dark and a really fun dining atmosphere. This time was completely different with only a few tables with people but no music and very quiet which wasn't really the vibe we were looking for. <br/>We ordered the almazett seafood mezza banquet ($50 each). The food was wonderful, my favourite the hommus dip and the lamb Koftas! Amazing. There was so much food it was crazy but overall very delicious. We all left extremely full and is well worth getting the banquet as you can order more of things if you like them! <br/>The other thing that was good was we had a vegetarian in our dining party and they said she didn't have to have a banquet or they can tailor the banquet to include vegetarian. They were very flexible and helpful offering her things she can have instead as part of the banquet. Always a good thing!<br/>

Awful. We had to ask for bread and it was just flat bread from the supermarket cut up. The vine leaves lacked flavour and were microwaved. The meat was dry, and the service was slow and unprofessional. If this place was in the northern suburbs with competition around they would be closed in a week

Excellent restaurant . Food very good and service warm and efficient . We visited Almazett last night with friends and had a lovely dinner

Came here to celebrate my mum's birthday, my mum loves Lebanese food and she was not disappointed, nor the rest of us! The food was delicious, great flavours and the service was excellent as well. Definitely recommend this place.

Pleasant and old school Lebanese restaurant, supposedly the oldest in Melbourne. First time eating Lebanese foods, so our friendly server was very helpful! Food was good, if different from what I’m used to. Gets points for service, loses points for the high price. . Complimentary carrots and pickled turnips

If I could describe Almazett in 4 words it would be: can-I-take-away? Wow! <br/><br/>A good dish done well is one that will keep the people coming back for more, and let me tell you every dish we had was fantastic! This place will always have a flurry of people walking through its doors!<br/><br/>If you haven't been here and you don't know what to get, get the $42 a head banquet, it's fantastic value and you can keep on ordering and ordering and ordering until you're so full you could nearly not eat the Turkish delights and baclava at the end (well I said nearly, everyone loves dessert!) <br/><br/>We had an entertainment book voucher as well which gave us 25% of the meal!<br/><br/>It's worth a visit if you're in the Caulfield area!

Been here multiple times and always enjoyed the fresh food and service. Some nights they also have belly dancing, which is really entertaining as they dance with the crowd. I like their baked fish and also the variety of vegetarian options. For big eaters there's also a buffet-like option

As a Lebanese fanatic, I can say that this is an authentic and brilliant Lebanese and certainly the best I've found in Melbourne so far. The only problem is the lack of shawarmas on the menu but the food tastes authentic and beautiful. The restaurant itself is nicely presented and playing Lebanese music which is also nice.
David Lew
$40 or so for a banquet. Huge meal - can't finish it all. And all of it very high quality, full of great spices with earthy flavours. Came on a fri night and toward the end of our meal, there was a belly dancer. Fun night.
Nelly
Be warned! Come hungry, very hungry. Especially when ordering a banquet, because the food keeps coming like an endless stream of goodness. Even if ordering single plates, the servings are massive and food continues to arrive. <br/><br/>To add to this place not only is the food really good but it's not too expensive. Popular dishes here are the dips and falafel. The babaganush being my personal favourite. But not a big fan of falafel as a rule, and yet you will find me still eating it here. It's just gorgeously crisp with a nice soft centre. Just the way it should be.<br/><br/>The chicken wings are so yummy it's hard to stop eating them. The lamb shashlik is the best I have ever had. I don't usually go for this as its served dry and hard to chew. But again here is the exception to that rule, so order it and try for yourself. <br/><br/>There is so much to choose from. The coffee "Arabic coffee" amazing. The entertainment is fun and friendly. The staff are too. I really can't flaw this place. It may not be fine dining like at the crown casino but who cares. It's worth going to over and over again. An absolute must

Ate here on Saturday night and absolutely loved it. The dishes just felt like they were made with good-quality ingredients. It was a bit more than I'd usually pay for a meal but the service was good and I left feeling satisfied. Definitely worth it and definitely coming back!
Miichan
Almazett is very expensive. When I went the eat in menu was seemingly much more expensive than takeaway. Had some sort of meal comprising of lamb wrapped in lamb, fairly good but not worth the price. Pine nuts in almost everything was a plus.

Apart from the meat & chicken skewers & dips & chicken wings which were all good the remaining dishes which included while snapper, cigars, kofta, rice was all very dry. The beans were bland & lacked sauce. The potatoes tasted like they were a week old and dry.<br/>We have been coming here for over 30 years with the original owners and have never sent plates of food back due to lack of quality and in fact have always requested some extra cigars and such but alas not last night s was our disappointment.<br/>I feel the waiter, the chef & owner are not switched on to the fact that food was coming back unfinished which suggests there may have been a problem but again we were not asked once how our meals were?<br/>This is something that has not happened when the original owners were running the business in the 30 years we have been coming here.<br/>Sadly, we could not recommend this establishment to anyone today based on what was served up last night but would like to add some advice to what I believe is the grandson of the original owners now running the business.<br/>Almazett is renowned for the quality of the food & never leaving hungry here....please stick to the formula that has made this place an institution.

Glass in dessert. I had dinner at Almazett on Sat 25th April 2015. While I was eating my dessert I pulled 3 bits of small glass out of my mouth. I showed this to the waiter and all he did was take my plate away without even giving me an apology. I didn't request anything for free but they didn't even offer either. Appalling.

Simply wonderful!. Went here after reading some excellent reviews, and my goodness! Absolutely wonderful food :) Got some falafels, tabbuleh and Turkish Delight for takeaway. All excellent! Crisp, moist falafels, fresh and zingy tabbuleh, and hands down the best Turkish Delight I have had in a long time! Also freshly made! Cannot wait to return with my boyfriend and family :)
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
I love the Almazett Mezza Menu that they have here. You are served a set menu but can go back and order more items from the regular menu at any point in time, essentially making this an ‘all you can eat’ menu option (which always leads to me devouring plate after plate of delicious chicken wings). The atmosphere is comfortable and the service is fantastic (accommodating, efficient and very friendly). Note that this place only opens for dinner and that a belly dancer performs on Friday and Saturday nights (so be prepared for some up-close staccato hip movements, belly rolls and plenty of shimmying!)
I Eat Therefore I Am
Almazett is a Lebanese restaurant located out in the 'burbs. Like many other Lebanese restaurants, it's almost a stereotype of itself. Not that it's particularly bad, but it's not particularly good or memorable either. They all meld into this oneness. Let

Eight came to dine on a Saturday night and had the Traditional Banquet. It was excellent and can thoroughly recommend dining here.

Ideal for a large group. Just celebrated a birthday there with 22 people. What a fantastic night. We had the whole section on the right to ourselves. The food kept coming and it was all delicious. Nothing was too much trouble , anything we asked for was on the table within minutes, all with a friendly smile. Will definitly go back.

I can't remember if I've ever written a review of this restaurant, but I went again tonight and it was just as awesome as reviews!<br/><br/><br/>-----18 Dec, 2014-----<br/><br/>I dined at Almazett tonight and wasn't sure what to expect. Will definetly be back again in the new year!! Awesome food and great service. Also the bread was fine for us, just the usually lebanese pita :)

Bad experience. Dear Almazett.after visiting an Amazing Lebanese Restaurant on Sydney road last week I chose your Restaurant to bring a friend to experience Lebanese food.it was most disappointing...the bread was unacceptable .it was cold and Supermarket bought.why wasn't it made in your kitchen?the eggplant dip was bland and pasty and again gross.A huge contrast to what I had experienced.your staff although pleasant at first did not even enquire or encourage us to stay etc or ask how the food was..we left without finishing our wine and I was most embarrassed as my friend had travelled far and trusted me.it cost us extra to catch a taxi into south bank to have decent food.I hope you look to improve your ethics with your food and NEVER serve supermarket bought foods...I will never be back or recommend your Restaurant I am sorry to say..A most unacceptable and disappointing experience :(

Cauliflower. Simple yet so delicious

Always fresh. Great food. Sometimes slow for take away but you need to wait for good food.

Old Faithful. No surprises here. It's like a seventies Melbourne Lebanese restaurant - which is basically what is, with the exception that it is still running all these years later by a new generation of the same family.<br/><br/>No fusion nonsense. No dots or foams. No sliders. No salted caramel. And certainly no pork belly. Just reliable, delicious old Lebanese favourites at very reasonable price. I've been going for over 30 years and will keep going as long as they keep doing what they do so well.
Emlyn Harburn
Thumbs up. Overall a worthwhile place to go for some quality lebanese food. Although the waiter was quite intimidating by hassling us to order and not letting us split a single banquet by the end of the night we grew used to her unorthodox personality and she cracked a joke or two which made her okay... just. Would go back but I'd try and go at a time avoiding the awkward belly dancer parading around dirty dancing infront of us while we were eating!
Maddie James
Staff slightly intimidating yet helpful. Good atmosphere (average company). Quick service. Food was delicious and sizes of meals were big. Would give a 8/10 and defiantly come back

Yummilicous food our second time ordering the banquet.. The kibbi is yum I can work as a dishwasher!! No plate returned to the kitchen exept bright nd empty shiny clean !

Lebanese Feast!. My family has celebrated special occasions here for many years. The food is always flavoursome and filling, you will not go hungry! We generally get the banquet and are never disappointed. Quality of food and service is exceptional every time, and the belly dancer on a Saturday night brings a bit of fun.

Great for large groups. Cant go wrong here with a large group and set menu .;. you wont go home hungry .. Good value for money

Thanks to the Almazett crew for providing a special night for my friends and family on my 30th birthday! Great food and loved the friendly staff- thanks again we will be back for our next function. John

Just had an early dinner here tonight, what can I say sensational! Delicious fresh food, and beautiful waiters. Defenitely will be coming back with a group to try the banquet
Toby
Sick for two days after eating here last Sunday! Had a good experience the first time but wouldn't risk it by going back. Just wanted to warn others as I felt soooo bad. Yuk!
Marcia
Have been going there for 30 years never disappointed. food exceptional staff very friendly and competent and belly dancers always adds abit of fun. great for price. will be going next 30 years too. well done. fantastic that its been passed down within one family.
Renee
Tasty food and plenty of it!
Veronica Li
Nice food with very generous portion. We had a dinner there with six people and we are all happy about what we've eaten. Table is a little too small but the atmosphere is great!
Nicky
Had the mezze meal. Plenty of food. Liked it but didn't love it. Very accommodating to cater for non red meat eater. Lovely waitress.
Ella
Have dined here a few times now and never disappointed. Have had the banquet and Love the dips to start but always get too full on them to enjoy the other courses. Tasty as meat platter, yummy savoury meat cigars with sweet pomegranete syrup... I could go on. You know it's good when your Arab brother in law likes the place. Highly recommended.
Simon
From BAD to WORSE!! overpriced and NOT traditional Lebanese Staff were rude and unhelpful and then came this hippo belly dancer that looked like a cheap hooker more than a dancer. Nothing good about this place would be better off going to get a takeaway kebab and watching the documentary channel at home!! What a nightmare....
Gordon Yeong
Persistently good!. I used to frequent this about 2003-2007 but have been busy exploring other cuisines these years. I went back this evening with my family. It's still persistently good!! Excellent service and great food!! No one measures to them!! Keep up the good job!!

Kibbi & Meat Cigars. Possibly the best Lebanese Restaurant in Greater Melbourne.Always a thrill to go there both for food & entertainment.

Very Average Dinner. Just came back from dinner - Thurs evening. Had the banquet for four people. Dips/tabouli very nice - remainder of food very very average... not so sure that food was freshly made..
Andrew Orlando
Great food, reasonably priced, enjoyed the experience. Thank-you!

LOVE IT. Have become a regular in the last 3-4 months, probably one of only three Lebanese restaurants that I love in Melbourne. EVERYTHING I have tried is Faultless: Makaanek (Sausages), Cabbage Rolls, Rice with Chicken, Chicken witngs with TOUM (Garlic paste), the BEST Falafel in Melbourne, lamb skewers. The chicken skewers were a bit dry, the kibbeh were not bad, and the dips always tend to have a bit too much Tahini in them. Still, this place is one of my faves and overall is a great Family environment owner Leila is always friendly, as are her staff & chef, and currently recommend it to everyone. BTW: Their fattoush here is equally as good as that of places such as MAHA in CBD, simply divine! Overall I would score Almazett an 8/10. Well done!!!
Mel
Excellent Food. We got the Mezze which was $42 per head but upgraded to $46 which included seafood. The food was beautiful & so much of it, it just kept coming out. Having a middle Eastern background I am well aware of how the food should taste & this was pretty much on the mark in terms of taste & quality. If I could fault anything it would be to slow down the pace of them bringing out the food & the chicken kebabs were a little dry. The restaurant itself lacks a little ambience as there was no background music, however the belly dancer added to the atmosphere half way through the night.<br/>I would be back for sure, keep up the yummy food.
Spellfall
Loved it. We had the mezze and oh boy, I just had trouble rolling out of the restaurant. I am so full of delicious food. The only thing we ordered 2 of was the baklava as we were so stuffed - made the rookie error of eating too much pita and dips ;)<br/><br/>Had a bit of trouble getting the attention of the waiters, but the delicious food just kept on coming. I would definitely go back.
Keen_on_foodmelb
Have been coming here for years! Greattttttt food! The mezza banquet is the best value for money. I even tried their new cafe Manakish and it was equally as good. Yum
Katerina
Delicious!. We did not take the meze / banquet option we ordered the garlic and yogurt dip, fried cauliflower, cheese and filo pastries, broad beans and the lamb and chicken skewers with pilaf. What a lovey selection of food!!!. We took our children with us aged 6 and 9 and the variety of flavours was perfect for everyone. <br/>Service was very good and overall made for a great night. The dinner entertainment also added to the experience. 30 years on and Almazett can still deliver..... Yum..

Mezza: a table full of food, average food.. My dining partner and i had been here a couple months ago and ordered off the menu - the foods was tasty and quite good and all the other tables seemed to be having the banquet/buffet, so we decided to return and try to full Mezza. <br/><br/>The concept is basically a banquet of food where you can order more of items you liked - in essence an all you can eat buffet brought to your table, or as they say it - a table full of food. <br/><br/>Starting with dip and pita bread which were simple but fresh, moving onto savoury pastries, falafel, chicken and other little finger foods - it was quite enjoyable but nothing was a stand out. <br/><br/>The mains were lamb and chicken skewers - the first round of these were tender and juicey - so we ordered another two rounds (we didn't order much of the earlier food as we didn't find it particularly special). When the next round came out, i was disappointed. Though the meat had a pink tinge in the middle which should indicate 'just cooked meat', it was extremely dry. Then i felt bad as we ordered so much extra that we now didn't want to eat. <br/><br/>The dessert was interesting - and a really good balance. Sweet Greek deserts with very strong Greek coffee to balance out the flavours. <br/><br/>The food overall was average, and would have done much better if it were consistent. I believe that the food would be better on a weekend (it looked much better the last time we were there). I dont think i would return, even on a weekend. The food did not have the flavours i was looking for; which i find at the very popular and busy Greek eateries in Oakleigh. It was simple, but really nothing out of the ordinary. The service was quite good - for only one waiter. However, that was expected on a weekday at about 7pm.

The best falafels you'll ever have. Not to mention all the other delicious food at such reasonable prices and the friendliest staff and service. <br/>Can't go past the mezza!

Set maze menu for $42 each.  Plenty of yummy starters, dips etc, main dish of rice and skewers of lamb and chicken, mahalabieh for dessert and strong Lebanese coffee.  Sadly, the ambience is lacking on a weekday, and the restaurant is cold now the summer has gone. In the entertainment book.  Pretty good all round but wear a jumper.

Disappointing to say the least. Had read a write up on Almazett in the Melbourne Weekly and decided I had to add it to my "to do restaurant list". It was disappointing to say the least. The restaurant is itself is in need of a renovation or just a good clean but after 30 years in the business I can forgive them for this. But the food was just bad. Started with the vine leaves that were overcooked and dry. My husband had the chicken wings which were agreeably delicious. From here on in it was just average (and I think that is being generous). I had the fish which sounded like it would have some beautiful Lebanese flavours but it too was overcooked and quite bland. My husband had a mixed grill which was also overcooked, tough and just so-so. Hopefully it was just a bad night? Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing? But if it is a good restaurant then the menu and what night you choose to dine in should not make a difference.

A'mezz'ing!. Here we go. Where do I start? It was decided one night that 6 of us would all enjoy a quiet evening out at Almazett. It was to celebrate and farewell a couple of our friends who were to leave the country for a year. This night was meant to be special. <br/><br/>We all walked in, some for the first time, some had graced this fine restaurant before. We were greeted by a nice young man, who kindly ushered us to our table. As he began handing out the menus I thought I would save him the effort and just ordered 6 mezza meals. Now for those who haven't been there, this is the only way to go. The chance to order as much food as you want was too good of an opportunity to pass up. <br/><br/>So the meals arrived in very quick fashion (probably because it was 6 pm). The first meal that our kind waiter served us was the pita bread with hommus and baba ganoush dip. For people who haven't been to Almazett before to fill up on pita and dips would be classified as a 'rookie error'. Some of us were seasoned veterans and we knew that there was plenty more food to come. The falafels were brilliant (ordered 4 dishes of it in the end) and the meat pastries with pomegranate sauce gave the course that little bit extra. <br/><br/>We were then served some chicken and sausages which we all agreed could have been better. Not letting this entree ruin our appetite, we soldiered on and began with the main courses. <br/><br/>In between constantly pestering the waiters to bring out another meal and engaging in idle conversation about our day we wondered where the music and even belly dancers were? Much to our chagrin we found out that the belly dancer didn't work each night. However, I noted to the table that this had been one of the many highlights that Almazett offered. <br/><br/>The main meal came out. First up was a beautiful bed of rice entwined in chicken garnished with a sprinkle of pine nuts. A truly exquisite dish (touted by one as "the greatest rice they had ever tasted"). Lamb and chicken skewers were complemented by a nice side of tasty beans. This truly was an experience. As we digested the array of flavours imbuing from these meals it dawned on us that we had forgotten to order the famous lemon drink. <br/><br/>This was an obligatory drink when fully experiencing a meal at Almazett. After most of us had eaten all we could, we moved onto the dessert. This is what separates Almazett from other Lebanese restaurants. One person on our table said that the Turkish delight was "heaven-like" and another said that "if this was their last meal, they would be satisfied". The baklava was exceptional and the coffee at the end capped off a truly wonderful and memorable experience. <br/><br/>4 hours later after walking in, we could not eat one more thing. We had tried nearly every single meal on the menu and most people couldn't loosen any more buttons on their pants, so as to give themselves anymore eating room. We got the bill and it came to about $40 p/p. We agreed it was quite reasonable for the amount of food that we had ordered. <br/><br/>The expression on the waiters face after we had paid the bill was relief as he would have agreed that our table had ordered more meals than any other table in the 50 years Almazett had been around. In short, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The incredible value for money, serene ambience and superb food would make me want to return. <br/><br/>However, it would be advised if going at dinner time to not eat for the whole day. This will give you with enough room to fully experience every single dish on the menu. Top effort Almazett, 9/10.

Fabo!!. What a great place!! The first thing that struck me about Almazett was the inviting and traditional feel, I could tell it was a family establishment straight away. We are always greeted with a big smile by all staff. The banquet is a must- as you get to try a variety of all the amazing dishes, the food just keeps coming with more and more flavours and traditional dishes. The belly dancer was great, gave a great feel and added an exciting touch to our night. But mostly the meal was fantastic. I would highly reccommend this place to everyone and am keen on trying Manakesh- the new establishment by the owners on Glen Eira Rd.

Search for the best lebanese food....unsuccessful :(. I have been searching for good lebanese food in Melbourne for a while now. A friend of mine reccommended Almazett and told me i just had to try it, as her and her family all think very highly of the place. So in order to see what all the hype was about, i organized a small dinner with friends as lebanese is traditionally a sharing cuisine and the more ppl the better!<br/><br/>Upon arriving we all thought the resteraunt itself looked preety run down. Fair enough its been running for some 33 years as people say and it is in the burbs....but c'mon! <br/><br/>We had the banquet at $42pp which started with an assortment of pita, 2 dips and tabouleh (if thats how its spelt). Savoury pastries followed as well as a chicken wing platter with sausages and a few other extras. Main dish was meat shaslicks and more pita and dessert was a rose water custard as well as a few other pastries and turkish delight. <br/><br/>Let me just say that i was highly disappointed. Fair enough that at $42pp it was a banquet that was preety much all you can eat...but after the three course selections...there was no way we were ordering more. I found the food itself to lack flavour and it disappointed me because i expected it to be traditional delicious lebanese food like the type i have grown up eating at friends houses etc....this it was not :(<br/><br/>Service was good. Not exceptional but good. There was not enough garlic in all the dishes for my liking at all (i love garlic and leb food is meant to be FULL of it) and i left with tummy aches that lasted the next 2 hours.<br/><br/>I guess if your one for quantity over quality then this is your place. At $42pp for an endless banquet it would be worth it. However, if you know your lebanese food....and what the real stuff tastes like...then steer clear.

Delicious & generous portions. I dine at Almazett regularly and enjoy the delicious home cooking and generous portions sizes, whether I choose a la carte or there massive banquet. Definetly value for money! I also appreciate that the restaurant has been family owned since the beginning over 35 years ago, and love seeing family members around. They are always so welcoming and hospitable

Simply 5 star restauarant. Family owned for 33 years. Quality food, atmosphere and pricing is extremely well set. If you're in the cbd it's worthwhile jumping in a cab and popping out to Malvern to dine here.

This is one of the best Lebanese restaurant in Melbourne, it's authentic, delicious and has a great atmosphere. It great for small parties, groups and work dinners. The staff are young and friendly and Friday night belly dancer is an added bonus, I'm not sure if the dance show is on midweek. I've been about 6 times but all Friday's.
