A cosy local cafe where the majority of the seating is out in the front, with huge umbrellas to protect customers from the element. This came into use when it started drizzling halfway through our meal.
The Avocado and Feta Smash with bacon on the side was a classic dish done well. The rich and creamy nature of the smash went really well with the bright flavours of the pesto and cherry tomatoes, and the poached eggs were perfection. The pomegranates added a crunchy texture, and also a slight sweetness to the dish.
While also enjoyable, the Fritters with Smoked Salmon and the Moroccan Chicken Salad were no match for the Avocado and Feta Smash. Both were healthy and filling, with good flavours, but missing that certain special something to make you go "wow!".
The skinny latte arrived with an impressive latte art, and was backed up by equally impressive taste. Also tasty was the Matcha Maiden Green Tea Smoothie.
Lastly, I must commend the excellent service here. The waitress who looked after us was not only incredibly patient, but also very helpful and accommodating. It was a pleasure to be served by her.
Went for brunch with a friend based on a recommendation from another friend. We both got the halloumi dish and it was delicious. Lots of variety and every part of the dish was good. Coffee was also good and the staff were just lovely. Will definitely be back.
Simple, yummy food, so well priced and great service! I love going there - nice and relaxed and really good vibes. Each time I've gone the service has been fabulous and don't walk away feeling like i've spent my money stupidly!
Great chai at Frank and Ginger today but in the future would be great to have the chai strained before it arrives at the table or have it served with a strainer to avoid tea floaties!
"Fritters"
Avocado was fresh and tasty. The fritters were really nice and super generous size. The sour cream was beautiful just wanted more and also more avocado as there was nothing compared to how big the fritter were. Really nice staff with an ok atmosphere.
I'm on a gluten free diet. When the owner realised he didn't have gluten free bread he went to BUY some from the shops. I've never had such a committed service!
I decided to have the ‘Potato Rosti with smoked salmon, avocado, crème fraiche, and lemon wedge ($16.00)’. My dining companion picked the ‘Steak Sandwich with caramelised onion, baby spinach, sliced tomato, cheese, and honey mustard dressing on toasted sourdough ($15.00)’.
Went here for a brunch - was packed inside so sat outside, however with rain moved to inside. A great small cafe with large meals and nice service.
I used to drive passed here all the time and it always seemed to be busy. We checked it out recently and even early on a Sunday morning we had to wait for an inside table. There's plenty of room outside too - it just wasn't a great day to be out there.
The staff are friendly and there's a great choice on the menu. Had the spicy pumpkin and feta smash. Two thumbs up. Coffee was also delicious too. No complaints about the omelette either. They also have a small but varied cake display, so I got myself a Christmas-themed gingerbread.
It gets pretty busy by 10.30am, so I assume it's a local favourite. Parking in the area is reasonable if you're prepared to take a little walk.
So happy to have found this cafe! Our new favourite brunch spot! Lovely staff, very happy and friendly! Delicious food, we had the smashed avo, one with bacon and the other with chicken, beautiful flavour! They know how to make the perfect prana chai, as compared to many cafes that I've been to. I know where I'm going next time for brekkie❤️
Great good coffee and the coffee scroll was ridiculously delicious 😋😋😋
Great service with a smile. Will be back again and again and again!
Great little local cafe! Very cute little set up. Good smashed avo and big servings! Great coffee and the staff were lovely. Will be back for sure! :)
Really love this place, especially the green brekky salad! Bill and Mel, the owners, are always so lovely and welcoming. The food is incredibly generous in size, always very fresh and beautifully presented. And the service is so fast, I hate waiting for food (I get super hangry) but this place never disappoints :) Since Bill and Mel took over, I've been in at least once or twice a week!
Cute little cafe in suburban caulfield. Super friendly and service was fast and attentive. Coffee was delicious and food even better. Breakfast bagel was flawless according to my partner and I had the spicy pumpkin smash with hummus, beetroot relish and poached egg which was amazing and so filling. Meal size was spot on. Couldn't fault this place.
5/5 For this amazing little cafe with a huge outdoor seating area at the front.
The staff were absolutely amazing, smiled, were happy and the vibe was very vibrant and fun.
We had 4 x Almond Milk coffees - petite size so hence we had 4 and its great they serve almond milk as a lot don't in the area. Coffee was delicious.
Ordered 2 Breakfast Bagels with Bacon and yay for all day breakfast here as we arrived at 1pm - Bagels were huge. My husband scoffed his as he said it was the best breakfast he's had in a while and I agree.
The bagel was full of thick mushrooms, spinach leaves, cheese, bacon and a fried egg with a delicious relish - it was brilliant.
The little one had some smashed avocado and feta and mint and a little gingerbread man- so he was happy!
If you have children under 3 they had a few high chairs and the outdoor area at front had umbrellas too for shade. Our new fave place for a late breakfast. Mia
Cute little suburban cafe with friendly service and tasty menu. I ordered the corn fritters with an avocado salsa, sumac sour cream, sweet chilli sauce, poached egg and bacon. The flavours were fantastic and the serving size was generous. My only qualm is that the fritters tended to fall apart. Having said that I liked the corn to batter ratio so I didnt really mind.
One of my favourite local breaky places with generous servings. My favourite meal there is the Paleo breaky salad - love getting greens in at breakfast. Great coffee.
Levely place to visit. Delicious high quality food & great coffee. You can find this place in Caulfield, Melbourne. I had there breakfast and it was amazing !
Great local spot. Tasty menu. Beautiful presentation. There is always a buzz, a hive of activity. I love that the avo mash changes seasonally but particularly like it with lime, chilli and coriander.
A nice cafe at a quiet residential area at Caulfield North , perfect place to start the morning. Staffs are friendly . Pea , mint and feta fritters is good. 3 pull pork sliders is beautiful. Still need some room to improve the coffee. It's drinkable but doesn't have the wow factor. It's not a cheap breakfast place but a standard price you will spend eating at cafes along Brunswick st .
Great little local cafe. The staff are always friendly & they have a great menu! The pumpkin mash is delicious but I will keep returning to try the rest of the menu!
Tucked away in a quiet suburban street, this is clearly a favourite of the locals. I had the Pea, feta and mint fritters and it was a unique mix of flavours and something I haven't had elsewhere. It was a nice quiet spot for a Sunday brunch and a place I think I'll definitely come back to
It’s always exciting when I discover a new cafe has opened up in my hood, Caulfield has a bit of an unadventurous personality as far as suburbs go, so you’d think that the arrival of Frank & Ginger almost a year ago would have registered on my cafe radar. But I’ve been driving past Frank & Ginger for a whole year without even noticing it was there, which leads me to the following conclusion: this place needs better signage and/or I need to get my eyes checked.
Love it ! Really cool vibe, the coffee is always great, food is amazing (especially the fritters) & staff are lovely- definitely a place I will revisit !
Excellent Find. So I drive past every day thinking I should stop there some time. So glad I did. After taking over the old health food store, they have created a very pleasant venue which in some ways is in an almost unused part of the world.Service was superb, my breakfast was hot and delicious and well priced. Nothing is ever perfect, though my complaints are petty. Warm water!!! A pet hate. And I would love the option of a bigger coffee in a normal mug instead of a takeaway mug.Still, I think they are doing a great job and I intend to make Frank and Ginger a regular stop.
All Things Food Melbourne
+4.5
Great outdoor setting, nice coffee and fantastic menu.. They run out of almond milk, but apart from this little mishap, the coffee and smashed avo and feta with poached eggs was delightful on pumpkin toast. Eggs were cooked to perfection.
Makes me glad to be local. As a day-to-day cafe goer-food lover and coffee snob, I often find myself appeased with high quality cafe foods, and always taking it for granted growing up in St. Kilda. A week-long trip to anywhere in Asia is enough to remind me of how lucky I've been in hindsight.
Moseying on about the area local to my residence I spotted a rather chic-looking, semi-busy, modern and assumedly recently developed spot I decided to visit for some brekky on my day off.
And I'll be back.
See, it's not ALL too often you make an inaugural visit where you decide you wish to return immediately after paying the bill. Albeit delightful, a discovery as profound as this when it does happen. It's even rarer that you might make the decision to return mid-meal.
At one glance of the menu, I knew I'd forever be eager to return. Each and every item equivocating its predecessor and successor in tantalising appeal.
Not to mention, it's colourful, healthy, high quality and dietary-requirement friendly. Coffee is good, and I'll be back for both. 5/5.
Urban Chic. Excellent long black.
Best cafe in the neighborhood!. I love having coffee/breakfast/lunch/brunch here - especially the granola and the brekkie bagel YUM! The service is amazing and the food is really good as well! Plus they are dog friendly :)
Our order didn't go through once - but the staff was exceptionally apologetic and offered a free coffee to make up for it, so it didn't bother us much at all. I have had a very different experience at other places, where the staff almost made you feel like it's your fault that they messed up the order. This is our new local and we're happy it's just a stroll away.
Yum. I love the coffee here! & the porridge was delicious! I've had the scrambled eggs with avo mash a few times and it has been a bit inconsistent probably due to whoever is working in the kitchen that day. The staff are always polite and friendly.
Great local. This would have to be one of the best in the area. The staff are lovely, the food yum and generous. I've been a few times now. Every time I have noticed a different barista. I've had mostly good coffees, however, the last time I went, the coffee was very ordinary. I've had a lot more good ones there so hopefully it was a bad morning!
Impressed and recommend!. I had lunch here recently with two others and we all loved it. I had the avocado/ fetta mash with poached eggs. Yum and very reasonably priced. One of my dining companions was gluten free and they had beautiful gluten free bread for her too. Coffee excellent. Very pleasant sitting outside the cafe on a sunny day. Attentive staff. Really enjoyed and will definitely return.
Such a beautiful new cafe with beautiful staff & food to accompany it. Service was quick and the food was delicious. Coffee was perfect temperature and not burnt which is a rarity. Was lovely to be able to enjoy a nice meal so close to home without having to brave the business of High Street. Prices were absolutely spot on and 10/10 would visit again. I hope you guys continue to blossom.
Great food, super-personable service and one of the better coffees you'll have! The owners are not only good looking, they really embrace the local community - an all round ripping cafe experience. It's just the vibe of the place!
We headed to Frank and Ginger on a fresh Sunday morning in Melbourne. We were impressed with the quality of produce on offer, the menu was expansive and the coffee hit the spot. The decor was modern and welcoming as was the service. We were very pleased that we chose Frank and Ginger for our Sunday brunch and will no doubt be back soon.
Perfect location, good food, surprising prices, but a noticible lack of polish.. Honestly, I'd expect nothing but success for this new cafe. It's a breath of fresh air for the neighbourhood which has been stuck with two lazy old-fashioned cafe's since the dawn of time. The food was pretty acceptable with plenty of vego options, the coffee was a solid B+ and the biggest welcome surprise was that we got out of there with coffee and breakfast for two for under $40, which is almost unheard of for a hipster styled cafe. There were some discernible issues however that might take time to resolve. The place is a sardine can, and staff and customers can't move about. If you are even borderline claustrophobic you're going to have a bad time. Also, the staff themselves seem inexperienced and/or disorganised and the wait time for breakfast of 45+ minutes for two basic breakfasts is unacceptable regardless of busyness. Once the wrinkles are ironed out I'd expect the local competition to be in serious trouble.
Early days...will try again in a few weeks.. I understand it is a small space, but I would rather wait 30 minutes for a table than be seated sitting on top of somebody ...literally! We had to ask the people next to us to move there table and the people next to them and well it may as well have been a communal table but with customers climbing under desks to get to seats rather than around. Besides this...the coffee was fine (will be better when they have almond milk melbs back in stock rather than supermarket brand) and food was fine...nothing special or exciting just your basics, still not a fan of serving eggs straight on boards (just don't find this hygienic personally), felt like a waitresses pain asking for my food to be served on a plate. Will give it another shot and hope for some more innovative food options.
THANK goodness for good coffee in our area! Welcome! Great eggs too v happy customer
Good luck Nic and Jessie. Good luck to our armadale neighbours for this new venture!
Fantastic coffee, absolutely delicious food and service that makes you feel like a king. Frank and Ginger have absolutely nailed it.
What a bright spark to this neighbourhood strip. Great food, great service and above all one of the best coffees I've had in a long time!
New bustling coffee shop in the heart of a suburbia crying out for quality coffee and great breakfast. Finally!
Genuinely the best coffee in town! The baristas are true artists. Great space as well with plenty of natural light. An absolute gem of a place!
Great local spot for breakfast- plenty of outdoor tables. Food was good- lots of maple syrup on the pancakes and full size corn fritters.
We love Frank and Ginger so much. My partner and I have been getting our coffee here every morning for years and we couldn’t be happier with the quality and level of service. Their bacon and egg muffins are delicious and we bring all our friends to try their amazing coffee. On top of that, they always put the biggest smiles on our faces.
Really lovely place with such lovely people. My two years old son loves their baby-chino and big breakfast! He can nearly finish half of the dish. I would recommend Avocado Feta Smash with bacon, and a soy latte. Yum, best coffee in the suburb! It’s my best way to start a beautiful morning!
Frank and Ginger has established itself as a local institution. They serve coffee and a wide selection of breakfasty meals. Generally, I’ll order anything with avocado. Today’s selection was a green breakfast salad with almond slivers, avocado (of course) and a poached egg. This is the easiest to have without having to discard bread.
Great service and tasty food. Will be back
