Great local corner cafe for brunch, with a little deli inside.

Take 10 minutes out of your busy day! Best coffee and the most delicious Almond Biscotti I have eaten. While your there grab the freshly made salad, quiche, pastries, salmon rissoles and so much more for dinner. They have lovely gift lines and hamper/picnic packs for the romantics!! Saved for my Saturday morning coffee and dinner.

I love coming here. Their liver spread is absolutely DELICIOUS. Their coffees are reasonably priced and taste very good. For a kosher shop the cost of food is very decent. If you go there try their vegetable lasagna and liver spread!!

I’ve enjoyed my breakfasts at Cafe D’lish. Izzy and the team at the cafe are always polite, personable and know almost each of their customers on a first name basis. My go to here is the Sephardic Scrambled eggs, with a delicious hit of chilly and perfectly cooked eggs on lightly toasted bagels. Washing it down with a coffee, biscuit and the daily newspaper is a good start to the day. Highly recommend Cafe D’lish, especially if you are a dog owner as this is definitely a dog/pet-friendly cafe.

I received 2 servings of lasagna (one container half full and other 2/3 full ) this was $40 and contains probably more grated carrot that it does mince beef 😪 VERY disappointed

Staff polite and friendly, not my cup of tea, locals enjoy it, takeaway I ordered was nice, would I go back, probably not as it is not near my house and not totally special for me

Tuna salad really good and the bread roll on the counter is the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately there’s a girl working there brown hair blue eyes which is never happy to help and every question is too much for her to answer. Asking for dietary advise on their products is something that should be greeted with a smile as I am a customer worried about my health, unfortunately she makes me feel like every question is a question too much. I always ask just one question, but she responds as if I’ve asked her life story three times in a row. Get that attitude to a place where you’re not facing customers, wearing a shirt with be nice is not making up for your terrible attitude.

Home away from home! The food is brilliant, the staff are the friendliest and they remember how you like your coffee and very special schnitzel sandwich. We come here every day with our dogs, I just love how dog friendly they are, especially being near the dog park

This is a great cafe, with a dedicated clientele who enjoy the quality of the food, coffee and service and the company of their friends and families.

We had a pre wedding shabbat at D'lish on 10th March 2017. Izzy and Adam were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were gorgeous. Anyone that knows me knows that i have a michegarse with over catering and D'lish met my challenge. There was soooo much we couldn't move and it was all beautiful. It was a dream and no stress for anyone. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you once again. Cheryl Conway

Food made with LOVE , service OUTSTANDING !!!

Unpretentious, friendly and consistent. It's what a local cafe should be.

Food was average. Hard to get service despite being quite and continually had to get up to search for staff.
Price was reasonable for quality of food.

Great little find on Saturday morning on the way to job for work. Only had a coffee but coffee was cracking. Look forward to coming back for some food

Great food and staff
Excellent range and always helpful staff. Salads are tasty and good location in Caulfield
Great sandwiches and schnitzels

Terrible cafe that survives because of great location. They got 3 strikes while I was there. #1 No water for customers. We asked a few times but they forgot. #2 They try to squeeze you on the salads - for eating in they offer a plate of 5 salads for $15 or 7 salads for $22. Thanks, but I don't want to eat a damn forrest. Can't I just get one or two for eat in? Nope. #3 I asked for a decaf latte cause I get heart palps and they gave me a full strength double shot espresso. Thanks for ruining my day.

Just something different, it’s quite special and delicious, not too expensive. A lot of things to choose from , the staff is friendly, a lot of stuff you can buy for take away and dinner
Great place for large sandwiches, soups and hot food. It has a nice area to sit down and eat inside or outside in summer or warmer weather. The table service isn't great but after you get over having to order at the counter it is a good vide and atmosphere. The food is cooked kosher style and is very hearty and filling.

I also suggest you try the take away meals as they always go down a treat later in the day or next day.

Very nice babka, coffee and warm environment... absolutely recommended
We visited here with our 7 weeks old son and he liked it too😊
Coming back sometime

Excellent food. Pastrami to die for! Service was great as well. The lady taking the order was mighty helpful in helping us decide. The dessert looked nice too.

What is Ashkenazi Jewish food?

There are many different types of Jewish cuisine, but for this meeting, we sampled the Ashkenazi branch of food, via NYC, in Caulfield! Think Matzo ball soup, lox bagel and reuben sandwich, with great Melbourne coffee!

While Ashkenazi cuisine as it is known today is largely based within the context of American-Jewish and Ashkenazi-Israeli food, much of the culinary tradition of Ashkenazi Jews springs from Central and Eastern Europe. It has evolved over many centuries, shaped by Jewish dietary laws (kashrut), Jewish Festival, and Shabbat (Sabbath) traditions. After having been expelled from Western Europe in the Middle Ages, Jews were forced to live in poverty and thus were limited in terms of ingredients. Dishes were made with fewer components; they weren’t heavily spiced and ingredients that were more flavorful had to be used sparingly. This is often why some dishes in Ashkenazic cuisine are known for being blander than dishes in Sephardic or Mizrahi cuisine.

We had a few extra guests on this day who hadnt had the Chutzpah to join us yet, schlep on over to join us Goys in Caulfield!

Cafe D’lish is part Melbourne Cafe, part Kosher deli, with many ready made and frozen kosher meals available to take home. As we were there on a Sunday for brunch, there was the added bonus of a delicious Cholent available, which i took home for dinner that night. Others picked up bagels and Lox, Chicken soup (AKA Jewish Pennicillin) and Matzah balls for easy Sunday night dinner options.

We ate:-

Cabbage Rolls (beef mince and rice stuffed and rolled inside cabbage leaves, slow cooked in tomato)

Chicken Noodle Soup with Kreplach

Challah French Toast with Mascapone, Cinnamon, Maple Syrup and cinnamon

Reuben Sandwich

Various meats, salads and deliciousness from the heaving deli offerings

We drank:-

Great coffee, and lots of tea.

Would we go again? Absolutely however it is a schlep if you live in the Northern suburbs all the way down to Caulfield. Really delicious food, and this family run business could not have been warmer and more welcoming to us Goys.

I love this cafe! Staff are friendly, coffee is great and food is fresh and delicious! I have tried the salads and the crepes. Both delicious. The caramel slice is sinful but out of this world!

An interesting little cafe which has tasty food with a small and simple menu but I like it. Not much seating space but it's good to sit outside when the weather is warm.

Great little cafe next to princess park. Nice selection of European style cakes and lovely Jewish style food. Very friendly staff and super helpful, nothing too much trouble also nice quality customers all greeting each other with hello's and nice to see you Etc. Defiantly worth a visit for lunch or early dinner.

My friend and I dined here the other day. The food made us feel ill as it tasted weird and the person that served us stuffed up the order and made out that I was stupid telling me that it was what I ordered when it clearly wasnt. Would not recommend dining here.
Much Ado About Food
LOVE IT! The chicken soup is just like my bubba used to make. I love that they are very accommodating to people who have gluten and lactose intolerances. THEY EVEN HAVE LACTOSE FREE MILK.

Open from early morning to early evening they are a great place to grab a coffee or t/a breakfast on the way to work, sit down and have a great meal or even pop on the way home and grab a pre made meal for the family.

Family owned a run makes this place warm and welcoming. Great selection of Shabbat dinner options also!

There is a reason why I'm a regular here. They remember my name and regular order, and they are always friendly and welcoming. Staff take a keen interest in their customers - and it's obvious their cafe offers a home away from home for many. Food is always fresh and no order changes are ever grumbled at. I return for the food and the staff.

Warm and Friendly. As a regular of this cafe it has always been warm and friendly.

The food is lovely, good quality, and the sizes are reasonable.

I have never found it particularly over priced for what it is - quality, homemade, kosher.

The take home soups and meals have been a life saver on many occasions!

Prices are over the top, let's get that out in the open now. Even deli goods for sale are at least a few dollars more - crazy!!!! I'm getting my pickles elsewhere. The food quality is over the top compared to many Cafés. Attention to detail when it comes to flavour & accompaniments was good. The Shakshuka was a taste sensation, srsly! My wife cleared her plate which is the best 'great' food indicator out there. The cafe is small - you can sit outside now, but adequate. Jewish folk everywhere, very friendly & judgemental as you'd expect, we love it. Prices - chutzpah! Great pastries sourced from Aviv. You must get in here & eat, TLC is given to the food, tasty! Very good service too, very good!
Eating Out
The food is beautiful but super expensive

Lick my dot that's how good this place is NOT. All the food on display is at least 1-2weeks fresh lol and the same old stuff is there when they opened anyhow they are lucky the Jewish community is holding them up other wise anywhere else they would dive bomb

Very disappointing, the menu doesn't offer a wide variety of food. I asked for a glass of water and the glass was filthy and didn't look like it had been washed still had remnants of the last users lipstick.

Great little spot for brekkie, especially in the courtyard at the back on a warm morning. Coffee is excellent, food is consistently delish (appropriately enough!) and the place is very dog friendly should you be taking the pooch for a stroll. Highly recommended!

Best tuna salad in the area!! (In container in fridge at $6) best vegi lasanga and i do not usually love lasanga. Always friendly staff. Great little family friendly and cosy cafe!!

Mel. I think Cafe D'Lish is fantastic. The food is great and the coffee even better. They are constantly putting new things on the menu and the owners and staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive.

Really enjoy the food here. Reminds me of the jewish delis back home in nyc. It is a bit expensive though given the trendy cafes nearby which I believe have better service and greater atmosphere.

Love this place. Must try the pea soup on a cold winters day with a toasted bagel. Sure is D'Lish!

Great atmosphere. I have been a regular at this cafe for many many years. The service at cafe dlish has always been spot on.
So after reading an unfavorable review from a "passer by", i thought i would share my experience.
Firstly, there is no need to wait to be seated, just grab a free table. (i guess some people need there hands to be held). I also found it funny how everyone else had been acknowledged.
The array of food in this joint is second to none, and the staff are always helpful and friendly.
For such a busy establishment the service is extremely fast and the food always yummy! i guess thats why this place is always busy. Busy places rarely have poor service.

BTW the coffee here is easily the best in the area.

No hello no thanks no bye. Walked pass a lot of times and attracted by the crowd. After checking on Internet and found goof review of the place, my wife and I decided to have a breakfast on a Sunday.

As usual, crowded. We standed At front of the door to be leaded into a set. One minute... Two minute... No one did that. Three staff saw us but just ignore us. I understand you guys were busy, but at least gave me an acknowledgment that you saw me here with a smile of something.

After three minutes, we gave up, just walked to an empty table. My wife went to order, and I was sitting without any acknowledgement from walked pass staff. Till we finished our meal. We are still transparent except while we are placing order at couter. Not even a bye bye or thank you while we left but the other customers received great welcomed and services.

Well, i don't think service is not required on a cafe. I been to so many cafes and some of them are even smaller, but this is the first ever cafe which never gave me a single basic service. Food wise, not bad, but I rather go some other cafe who 'happy' to have me in there.
