Review Caversham House - Caversham

Very lovely place, great for photos. Would not recommend on a rainy day, most of the grounds is grass, and it can get quite muddy and slippery. Late at night there is very little lighting to help you navigate the grounds. But on the whole, it was a lovely evening, with good food, we enjoyed ourselves.

Got married here last month and the service we had on our wedding day and after has be absolutely shocking. Staff was a lovely with the process leading up to the day, once we got married the service went out the door. Alcoholic drinks being offered to pregnant woman over and over from the same waitresses, people not getting food on the other side of the marque (cocktail style wedding), missing out on the bridal grazing platter that we paid for. Inexperienced waitresses, cold food. Staff trying to charge service providers for drinks when I have already paid for them to be there was so embarrassing. Bar staff opening our bar tab for everyone when it was only supposed to be for the bridal party as we already paid for the deluxe alcoholic package for all guests so our bar tab was racked up. Told caversham on the night how disappointed we was and was told by them we would hear from management and get a discount on our bar tab that the bar tenders made a mistake on but instead we heard nothing, only an email of them saying they have deducted our bar tab from our credit card but no discount like we was promised. Caversham gardens are beautiful but the staff do not care about service especially after you have paid for your wedding. They are so strict on things you can and can’t do. I wouldn’t recommend getting married here as you can spend your money else where and get better services. Unless you just came for the ceremony. $22k on 87 adults for the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I also have family and know people in the wedding industry and they are speechless themselves.

I attended a wedding at Caversham House recently, the setting by the river was perfect and the grounds were exquisite. Unfortunately the food was below average which was also disappointing to the wedding party and other guests. Otherwise I would have given a score of 5.

Beautiful gardens and venue. It's private property but have never had a problem having a walk through the gardens

Natalie was great, I am a photographer with a team member videographer. She absolutely made sure we are well looked after. as well as Bride and Grooms needs were met. She provided top notch service. Thanks Natalie!!

Visit but just don't book! Stunning venue with beautiful grounds but that's where it stops. One of the worst meals I've ever been served. They get you in and wow you with their venue, get you signed up and give you the option of paying for a tasting of the menu a couple of months before the wedding when it's too late to back out. I was very hungry after being busy preparing for the wedding all morning and the food was barely edible. The bread served was those long life rolls you get from the supermarket. The pork belly was mostly fat with a thin strip of meat. The chicken was a strange dish, finely shredded very dry chicken compressed into a square and deep fried in crumbs. The fish was so disgusting that I couldn't get past one bite....I was not the only one with fellow dinners saying that theirs had scales still on the skin and large bones. It had a strange flavour that made a few people who went past one bite on my table feel ill. The fish was served with a side of a few bits of popcorn....yes POPCORN! so weird and cold peas. Oh, I grimace at the memory!! Their bins must have been over flowing with uneaten food, such a waste. The dessert...thank goodness was pleasant...not amazing. A lemon meringue that tasted though it had been bought from a bakery rather than produced on site....perhaps that's why it was edible!! The drink packages are so expensive but don't include pre-dinner drinks. Be prepared to pay big bucks at the bar even though they are making a killing on the drinks package. This is the place for you if you want instagram worthy beautiful photos but your guests won't remember your wedding for those!

My husband and I recently had our wedding ceremony in the Hidden Gardens at Caversham House. The venue was beautiful and the gardens were stunning. Martina, the function manager was lovely to work with. She was very nice and helpful. Easy to communicate with and to contact. Our only faults for the day was that we organized a golf buggy through Caversham to help transport our elderly family members from the entrance down to the hidden Gardens. The golf buggy was at the entrance of caversham house but was unattended the whole time, so our nonnas and other elderly family members had to walk down the hidden gardens and back by themselves which was quite strenuous for them. And the red carpet on the day wasn’t tucked into the steps very well, so there were a few tripping hazards walking up and down the stairs. Apart from that the whole ceremony was perfect. Martina was waiting for myself and the bridesmaids when we arrived in the limo and gave us instructions and extra advice about walking down the along the grass, behind the trees and down the isle. There were even staff waiting for me just before I walked along the red carpet down the isle who assisted with laying out and re-positioning my dress/ veil to make sure it was perfect for when I walked down the isle. The Hiddens Gardens was a picture perfect location for our ceremony and the scenic landscaping provided us with beautiful photos of ourselves, bridal party and family. Thank you!!!

On the weekend I was fortunate enough to visit Caversham House for a function. The weather was outstanding and the scenery picturesque. That is were the quality of Caversham house finished. The entree was a Pork belly dish served to the masses - no cracking and a thin layer of meat that encased the pork fat, I was served a square of crumbed shredded chicken. Now when the person prepared the chicken, they removed the flavour and the moisture from the chicken. I'm not a fussy eater as I have survived FIFO camp food.I had a small piece to start and that was it. When the full plate was collected, the catering staff member was polity told it was a disgusting meal - really dry and tasteless. Mains - options Lamb or Barramundi. I opted for the lamb, found out to be a safer choice. Barramundi had scales and bones from reports talk from other guests, if you were game enough to get past the smell and stomach the actual taste of the dish. Lamb dish was below average. The table I was on, actually supplemented the meal with the externally supplied cake samples that was on offer at the function. When the table was cleared I voiced my comments to the catering staff who responsed" We'll tell the Chef" Not sure they should use that terminology so freely as any quality chef would refuse to be associated with these dishes. Dessert was lemon meringue that was a saving grace - must have got it from the Cheese Cake shop. Caversham House management needs to take responsibility of the quality of food being served at functions and stop resting on their laurels of the location.
