Defiantly the best place to sit down and unwind. Staff were great and polite. Hot choc made rich and thick.
Tea and dessert are great complement.
Koko black has various delicious chocolate treats and drinks. Their hot chocolate was excellent! It was smooth and not too heavy. Their chocolate treats were amazing as well, with all the bursting flavors inside them.
Unfortunately, as the place is a bit small, you will need to wait a few minutes to be seated. They seemed to be understaffed as well when I was there, as our order came incomplete.
Overall, I will still give this place a high rating as their chocolate is very delicious! And i’ll definitely be back for more 😋
The Koko Black is both a shop and a cafe, selling their chocolates as well as being able to sit in and enjoy the food there. It was quite busy and there was a fairly big line so we ended up just getting takeaway instead. I got an ice chocolate and that was quite nice. nice chocolatey drink with a scoop of ice cream. It did surprisingly take a while to get though, a bit longer than my friend who ordered a hot chocolate. A bit pricier than other places but the flavours are quite unique and more complex.
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I'm trying not to be biased as this was my first job as a waitress. Kokoblack is not only know for its premium chocolates made in Belgium, the service is actually spot on.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: There are so many good chocolates to buy from here but I would highly recommend the hot chocolate. It is legitimately my favorite drink in the world.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: The prices are a little steep but I'd say it's worth buying it as you can really taste the quality.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great chocolatier to buy chocos for friends and fam!
Whether its hot or iced chocolate they have definitely nailed it. Really enjoyed it and would always go for the hazelnut hot chocolate or iced chocolate for cooler days
Love how they always have it in shopping centres whrre you get to take a break and enjoy a good cup of hot or iced chocolate
The best iced mocha ever! We always
love the iced mocha here, we wont miss it whenever we see koko black xoxo 💚
Coffee and got chocolate always on point
One of the most legendary chocolatiers in Australia, Koko Black Chadstone serves up some great chocolate dishes. But it’s their truffles that I love the most. I go to KB almost every time I’m at Chadstone Shopping Center, and get just one of their divine treats. My favourite is the gianduja.
Ate there for the first time after walking past a million times. Tried the roast beef sandwich and the black forest gateau. The sandwich was quite nice but the gateau was the real delight. It was as soft as a cloud and not overwhelmingly sweet. Almost forgot there was a sour cherry centre which made it more of a surprising treat. Would recommend!
Great Belgian hazelnut hot chocolate, very rich. Small size was more than enough.
Great service very friendly.
Great Belgian hazelnut hot chocolate, very rich. Small size was more than enough.
Great service very friendly.
Not bad for catch up with friend and sitting down for chat. I always got signature ice chocolate with vanilla ice cream, and staffs recommend the strawberry milk shake is also nice.
I love their chocolates. My favourites are passion fruit and Rose Jelly. My dad likes anything with macadamia / hazelnut / almonds in it. And my daughter loves anything with hazelnut in it. I also quite like the raspberry ganache dark, hazelnut cluster, sienna strawberry and you really can’t go wrong with anything that has salted caramel. Try their truffles too!
For cakes, my fave is the the Caramel Delice.
Aside for their signature hot chocolates, their affogato is a must try!
Wherever I visit, there is always a line. It tends to get busy and a bit crowded during peak times.
The staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve always enjoyed catching up with friends here.
The manager was super nice and helped me out with the box of chocolate I wanted to purchase. She allowed me to taste test and their chocolate just tastes amazing. I’ve heard their hot chocolate is also amazing but haven’t tried it yet
Been here many times but have not reviewed. Today felt like drinking hot coco. Ordered the Belgian chocolate orange and a cappuccino. The hot chocolate orange has a slight orange scent and not too sweet.
To compliment the drinks, we ordered the chocolate degustation - it came with black forest gateau, caramel delice, chocolate hazelnut gateau, chocolate salted caramel tart and rasberry french almond cake. A decadent lunch!
Exquisite chocolate tasting and dining experience in Chadstone. The Belgian hot chocolate is rich and chocolaty and soothes tongue with creaminess.
Koko black is a staple on my book. I may have been going to their shops for years and years. I love their small portion chocolate, also a lot of time it's just the ambience of their shops make you feel comfortable to stay.
One of my favourite places to grab a hot chocolate ! Although I’m more of a milk chocolate fan I find the hot chocolate here has perfect amount of bitterness - price is more expensive than if you were to go to any regular cafe but the quality of the chocolate is up there
I love Koko black chocolates. Great place to have a break after shopping at Chadstone shopping centre. Came here and had Belgian spoil desserts and coffee. The place look good and service was good too. 😀
The service here is pretty good and friendly. Everytime I have sit down service I get into a chocolate coma - it's easy to go overboard and order chocolate drinks and chocolates and get a sugar high - stuff is expensive here but it's the good stuff. If you want to get nice gifts for people come here.
Dropped in for a treat while window shopping at Chadstone and decided to have a Hot Chocolate, ice chocolate , and ice coffee. The hot chocolate was luscious and lovely and so was the ice chocolate. Strong chocolate taste, very smooth, and beautiful. But ice coffee was a let down. A bit bland, no smell, lack of coffee taste.
My suggestion, if it's Koko Black, chocolate would be the best choice.
Try the desserts and especially the coffee as it is rich, smooth, and thick filled with a lot of chocolate flavour. It was extremely filling and the quantity is more than worth it for the price. Love the whole display of chocolates in the cafe, makes it so tempting to pass by without even trying it.
The desserts are very good. In fact, I would recommend it to the ig fans too! The Alchemy Gateau is a must have! The ambience was good. Although, she recommended the hazelnut Belgium hot chocolate, it was watered down and tasted like a usual hot chocolate, couldn't see the difference. Furthermore, I personally found our waitress to be a little rude, as she wanted us to hurry up (stating it multiple times) and even went so far as to reject all our requests of changes to the menu items which was disappointing.
I nave had so many positive experiences here. I love the dairy free hot chocolate so much. Its rich, creamy, sweet and delicious. I have bought some of the dairy free choc blocks/single chocolates and theyre all delicious. I was once even buying some chocolate as a gift for someone and was told to try some of their chocolate in the testing tub, I asked if it was vegan, it was not. But the lovely staff member gave me one of the single vegan chocolates to try. Such good customer service, such friendly staff. Will be back soon!
A good place to have a rest in chadstone shopping centre. Salty caramel is my favourite. Chocolate is too sweet. Nice to have afternoon tea with friends there.
The Hot Chocolate, naturally, was the highlught of Koko Black. With an incredibly thick and creamy texture, the Belgian chocolate was bold and exceptionally rich. The sweetness was just right, without being overbearing like many ordinary renditions, and did not distract away from the beauty of the chocolate itself. Perfect.
Nice little cafe with yummy desserts. Their chocolates are really delightful. Take away coffee is sometimes a little colder but I always request for extra warm coffee. service is really nice if you are siting inside for a break
A Chocoholics 'DREAM' Pretty good menu selection with a lot of creativity in the menu design! Not a huge chocolate fan but I quite enjoyed it!
Today I went to Koko Black. We hadn't been there in a while and we usually enjoy their drinks and desserts. We decided to try the Iced Chocolate with Salted Caramel. It was too rich, I couldn't drink it all and neither could my friend - so I would recommend this to those that can handle rich drinks.
Service was slow. Took a while for the waitress to serve us but they were very busy cleaning tables after a busy period so it was understandable. Haha next time I'll definitely order the normal iced chocolate. The salted caramel one definitely wasn't for me!! (Almost put me in a sugar coma but I survived - hooray!!)
Still the best iced chocolate ever had! Creamy and rich, just like drinking cold melting chocolate.
Winter now, I choose soy hot chocolate, it's nice too.
Also many options of desserts.
Frankly I feel koko black and Lindt have the best hot chocolate in melbourne. Always order a baby hot choc while in chaddy, a small size of dark chocolate rich drink yet gives a huge amount of satisfactory and make me feel less guilty too lol
Very friendly staff, she was more than happy to help us decide which dessert to have... I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but the shaved chocolate that came with my coffee was a perfect compliment. My precious loved the salted caramel dessert, the presentation was luxurious, golden-like shard of caramel plus the fun part of drizzling the toffee-caramel sauce over the cake (& licking the spillover afterwards). I didn't really like the florentines, too sweet for my liking & way too sticky on my teeth.
Overall, a good place to chill down & escape from the crowded & chaotic world that is Chadstone, friendly service without being pretentious, & exceptional sweet delights that are affordable... what else would you want?
Great coffee and great service! Too many options! Definitely worth while trying the dark salted caramel and the passion fruit. Really friendly staff.
Best hot chocolate ever, so thick, creamy, and chocolate-y! The iced chocolate is also very nice, but the ice cream makes it quite heavy in texture, so I prefer the baby size (not sure if they still have it on the menu though). The desserts are on another level as well, ordered the dessert degustation and shared it between 2 of my friends, it was just delightful! The caramel delice and chocolate mousse are my favourites. For the venue, I prefer the one in the royal arcade, but this one is also pretty nice with its minimalist and simple setting.
So far the best hot chocolate in town! I tried the classic Belgian (skinny). It's rich in chocolate and need I say more, you need to try this one! The chocolate mousse is to die for and I'll be going again just try out more on the menu.
Used to my favourite date place. I had the kids set . I have to say the kids set is so cute and delightful! Love their cuteness & ofcourse the best hot chocolate!
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?

Waited 5 minutes for a table. Ordered salted caramel delice and ice chocolate. Ice choc was great. The ice cream in it was so creamy and really tasty! Only thing was there was some sort of dark choc flavour i didnt 100% like. The salted caramel delice is part mousse part biscuit and chewy caramel. Salted caramel sauce on the side. When the waitress bought it out i said OH MY GOD.. it was amazing..looked stunning! no way i could eat all of this.. im not normally a desert person. Plus it was soooo sweet. Well.. that didnt stop me. Yep... i did it..... I ate the whole damn thing!!!. Then stumbled home. It was so good i just kept eating it! Suger level and calories out the window today!
Nice setting to enjoy a hot chocolate amidst the madness of shoppers at Chadstone SC. Best choices - classic Belgian hot chocolate, iced chocolate, chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate sauce, and Belgian spoil.
There r some new items on the menu, for example what I ordered last time, flavour less orange cake. I like this type of cake which gives u the feeling soft n light. But the pity thing is I can't enjoy it any more after this Christmas. I wanna make some space in the brain for it to take remarkable memory. Cheers koko black.
The reason I order a sandwich in such place is I am really hungry and it is hard to find a good place for eating in a shopping center. However, it surprised me that even a sandwich they make can be delicious. I the vanllina icecream and warm chocolate sauce is always the best!
I love coming to Koko Black to satisfy one of my guilty pleasures, the Classic Belgian Iced Chocolate! This is seriously good and it's been my go to beverage at Koko Black. When i'm enjoying this iced chocolate, I feel like nothing else matters in this world. But when I'm finished I know I'll have to put in a lot more hours in the gym, which I dread.
One scoop of vanilla and one scoop of chocolate ice cream is featured in a lovely Belgian chocolate base. The presence of milk is also evident. The glass is also partially covered with more chocolate. This purpose of this drink is clear, to cram as much chocolate goodness as possible in one glass. Words cannot describe how good this is, if you haven't tried it, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. In the past I used to mix it all up but as I've grown older this method has been too sweet for me. I don't mix it up anymore and enjoy it as is, this way a lot of the chocolate still stays stuck to the glass when I'm finished.
Enjoy this with a Raspberry Ganache Dark. Take a nibble of the Ganache and have a sip of the ice chocolate. Be sure to take small nibbles though as the Ganache is expensive so really enjoy it. In winter the hot chocolate is also great. The smooth creamy chocolate really warms the stomach right up.
Chadstone is a decent location although sometimes it can be a bit busy. Inside can also feel a bit cramped sometimes due the table layout. Staff are generally pleasant and expect a warm greeting as you enter. Now I've read that Koko Black have gone into voluntary administration, they say it won't affect business but anything could happen I guess. Basically what I'm trying to say is... enjoy this while you can!
Love the chocolates here! Bought some for my partner and he enjoyed all of them as well! Chocolates are quite pricey but defs worth it :) !!!!

Chadstone coffee I find are inconsistent, unfortunately. So I usually rely on Koko Black for their chocolate to go with my cappuccino - the good quality chocolate makes up for average coffee :)
The dessert platter for two is always a great romantic meal to end a beautiful date. Or if you are like me, and a massive dessert lover, the whole platter is just euphoric for one! ❤️🌹👌🏼 The chocolate pieces are also a great gift for anyone (birthdays, house warming, baby showers, dinner catch-up at friends houses, etc.)
I absolutely love the Koko Black hot chocolate!! So much flavour and always served steaming hot..just the way I like it. Coupled with friendly service, this place is a winner!!
tried the Belgian mocha, very rich and thick (maybe a little too much for my liking). the vanilla bean ice cream they have here is seriously gorgeous though, full flavoured and creamy! store needs a bit more light as it is very dark and maybe some cosier furniture! bit sterile for a chocolate parlour!
So good the chocolate selection.you can't go wrong with Komi black chocolates the hot chocolates are amazing and the desserts really decadent.if u need your chocolate fix go here
If it's a good dose of chocolate indulgence you're after, this is the place to be! The hot chocolates are heavenly- not too rich, but powerful enough to send you into a lovely chocolatey coma. Service at this KB has always been very good and the atmosphere itself is elegant and kind of mysterious. And I can never resist buying a block of almond chocolate on my way out.
I love Koko Black. Consistently good hot chocolate, beautiful fit out, and lovely staffs. This is a great place for me to enjoy hot drinks with my favorite books especially winter is now. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
This was absolutely amazing! I went with my mum for a 'high tea' because we had been shopping in Chadstone and both wanted a break. We got a degustation which consists of a series of down-sized desserts from their cakes menu. I also got an ice tea which went great with the degustation because it balanced out the sweetness. I am looking forward to coming back to try a chilli hot chocolate!!!
Delicious!! Definite thumbs up for this unassuming dessert. Looked simple and nothing spectacular but the taste was just lovely. Chocolatey without being overpowering. According to Koko Black's menu, this decadent tart is made using 64% of Madagascan choclate served warm with Vanilla Anglaise.
Very cute water jar and glasses. Love their service. They brought my tea and turned tea pot handle to my side. Love their attention to detail.
The best soy hot chocolate drink I've had in a while ! Loved it.
Highlight of Chadstone. A trip to Chadstone isn't complete without visiting Koko Black and the new layout makes a lot more sense and gives more room which is great. It's an indulgent treat but never fails to disappoint.
My go to place for a drink. Since the store's renovation last year, koko black chadstone has been my go to place for a cup of flat white. Great ambience, drinks and service to match, satisfaction guarantee in this fine establishment.
Delicious. Must try this place! Lovely deserts mmmmmmm.
Oh kokos!. Have been here many times now for hot chocolate but today was the first time for desserts. We had the chocolate Belgium ice-cream w/ chocolate praline & soil and the baked chocolate tart w/ anglaise, plus two hot chocolates. The praline was incredibly yummy with the ice-cream and the vanilla anglaise was the ideal pairing with the chocolate tart. The hot chocolate is consistently good, so will be back again and again!
Loved it!. Probably my favourite place to treat myself. Iced chocolate and Belgian spoil both decadent and delicious. Staff were friendly and didn't take long for everything to come out.
Love that classy interior. One of the best hot chocolate I've had in Melbourne. Staffs are very nice too. Even though everything here is a bit pricy, it's still worth paying for. Thumps up!
Cafe mocha is the best, fantastic service with a glass of water supplied, why would you go anywhere else at chadstone?
Chilli Hot Chocolate - POW!. .
Pro's:
- Delicious special treat time indulgance
- Variety of seasonal specials, V'tine day, Mother's day, etc..
- Decandent dessert menu
- Delicious hot chocolate - personal fav. is the chilli hot chocolate which you can ask for mild if you like
- Personal truffle chocolate fav. is the chilli truffle - just the right amount of spice and has not been equaled anywhere else
Con's:
- Being in Chaddy shopping centre it tends to get packed fast
- A bit pricey, but is the price to pay for luxury
- Has lost it's exclusivity now that the Lindt cafe has opened downstairs
The chocolate is really rich and great in taste as what it was famous for. But we didn't expect their vanilla ice cream is great as well. Definitely worth the visit
Ordered a mocha here and it tasted fine. Only problem though is that waitress wasn't sure if there was a dairy free option.
The place is one of my faves for hot chocolate and coffee, but was very disappointed today to find out that the chocolate mousse has been removed from the desserts menu. This is the main reason I did not give this place 5 stars. Please bring back the chocoate mousse!
Give the Belgian hot chocolate a good stir & enjoy! $7 for std size & is a great pick me for the weary shopper. Quiet late arvo Thurs. Attentive service.
Perfect, even for someone who doesn't like sweet stuff like me. Coffee great too. Lovely environment, helpful staff, reasonable price and, most importantly, amazing chocolate!! A must-go for chocolate lovers.
We've been customers for many years and love their chocolates...some of the best in Melbourne.
This Salted Caramel sundae is sometimes outstanding but inconsistent. The left is from the website and the one on the right was ours. We had turned the ice cream over to find there was only the teeniest sprinkle of peanut brittle crumb instead of the usual chunks and crumb which adds soooo much.
Completely depends on who makes them. Sometimes the caramel is microwaved so far that it's steaming as it was in our pic here.
Still very nice but needs consistency
