Review Jimmy Grants - Chadstone

Located on the ground floor food court, it has quite a lot of competition with other places in the area. The murals and lights around the shop make it stand out so it's not too hard to find. The menu has a selection of different greek food but I ended up trying the Mr. Papadopoulos. The wait wasn't too long and easy to pick up. The kebab was quite nice with the spiced lamb and the chips. I did think it was a bit small though. it was otherwise a pleasant meal.

I was like a fly, attracted to the blue lights all around the shop. We tried the fish and chips. Portions are on the smaller side and didn't some with any sauces for the price. Average Fish and Chips. Would love to see some improvements, maybe add a little sauces with the meal? Will be trying other items on the menu next time though, but it'll have to be on my pay day xD Loved the potato cakes though, super crunchy

I love me a good souvlaki and this place delivers just that. I enjoy the classic 2am, but also twists like the beef brisket. Food didn’t take long to come out, and it was fresh and delicious. Only complaint is the price point, $16 for a souvlaki is a bit much, but I can read, if I wanted a cheaper item I would’ve gone else where.

Really surprised at how small the serving size was. I had the med plate and for $21 I feel pretty ripped off. Either bring your prices down or increase your serving size! I’m only a 53kg woman so can’t imagine how a big bloke would feel eating this meal. Overall flavour was nice but unfortunately not enough food. I’d be ok to pay $12 for that, but no more. :-( #stillhungry

Classic food court food, but surely different of what you can find usually. The meet in general is absolutely amazing and the souvlakia are pretty good. It is a little bit over priced, but worth it in a day of shopping. Recommended to taste a bit of Cyprus.

Had Nonna's Souva with gluten-free wrap and it was delious and very filling! Staff were fantastic and careful to alert me to any allergens that may be present! I would definitely buy again!

Very average, small souvlaki’s and not that tasty... the worst part $$$ Two small sized souvlaki ‘s and a small mineral water cost $35!! Rip off and definitely not worth it 👎

service is nice but the food is horrbile. Disgusting lamb, please do not call it souvlaki, if you do not even roast your lamb

Small servings. Oily. Waste of money .<br/>

All the staff are very knowledgeable about the products and always help me find something good to eat. Food is served fast and is always full of flavour. I will definitely keep coming back

Cashier was friendly and polite. Meal was very poor besides the pita bread.<br/>The meat is slow cooked and not off the spit like a real souva should be.<br/>For $14 you would expect a lot more.<br/>For the people giving this place a good rating I don't think you have ever had a real traditional souva.<br/>Don't be fooled by George and his clever marketing.<br/>Won't be coming back.

Delicious souvlakia in the Chadstone food court. If you’re the type of person who loves their meat, then this is the fast food place for you ❤️❤️❤️

Maybe 2.5?<br/>Jimmy Grants sell Greek food. I was disappointed with the amount I got for the price. The falafel wrap I had was alright, nothing special. The falafel was good but with the combination of red cabbage give the wrap a very bitter taste.
Mad Dawg
Ordered the med diet with lamb shoulder and tzatziki dip. I had chips in lieu of the salad. Although the lamb was soft and fell apart, it was served mildly warm. I feel that the standard at Chadstone still falls short of it's Eastland counterpart.

Who doesn't love a greek Souva? The classic souva with chips is an iconic, must eat off the menu at George Colombarus': Jimmy Grants. The only downfall is that, at Chadstone amongst the crowds, it can get very hectic and Jimmy Grants sometimes find it hard to keep up with the fast orders.

Located at Chadstone food court. The store was quiet . So decided to give them a try .<br/><br/>Meals ready within 3 min... <br/> <br/>Price 1/5<br/>Food 1/5 over fillies with sauce . Lamb is steam cook which taste terrible . <br/>Service 3/5<br/>Deco 3/5<br/><br/>Straight to the bin ..<br/><br/><br/>

Dined here after eating at their St Kilda venue and we weren't disappointed! The staff were really friendly and the food was hot and tasty! Get the feta chips, it will change your life!

Its great to have a restaurant where they use quality products and ingredients! Im the biggest fan of the grain salad and their famous Mr Pap. Some real quality staff there too!

So good!!! I love Jimmy grants, you can taste the quality compared to other places. Strongly recommend the chicken Maria souvlaki it is life changing the sauce is 11/10, the grain salad is amazing and the dim sims are light and fresh though I think they have stopped using them. There place is a must stop when at Chadstone.
VeganeatsM
Jimmy Grants have a new menu were certain items can be requested vegan! Yay! Sadly, the new menu has not yet been uploaded onto Zomato. I ordered ‘the homer’ made vegan. I was pleasantly surprised given the low rating.
Mr NomNom
2.5<br/>Ordered the Mr Papadopolous paired with chicken salt chips. <br/><br/>The lamb was tender and the mustard aioli paired with it was delicious. The souvlaki was a bit on the smaller size though. The chips were basically inedible as there was an absurd amount of chicken salt poured in. An overall sub par dining experience given it's price point

Nice concept, but terrible rude service and lackluster food. Was served with eye rolling huffs, and received for my many dollars, only half my order, including a “souvlakia” with soggy tasteless lamb that was soaking in water, lukewarm chips that were cooked before we got there and left on the bench, and a tiny Greek salad with green Spanish olives that I was told was “full size”. When I politely the rude lady about it, who spent the whole time dragging her feet around and being rude to other workers and rolling her eyes at every other customer, she argued with me. then when I went to get the rest of the order she forgot to give me, she gave me the wrong drinks then argued with me again telling me it was my fault it was wrong. I’m flabbergasted.<br/>Never again. Food is bland enough, the rude service made it taste worse. I did end up so shocked that I told the lady that if she really hated her job so much, she should quit because evidentially she is extremely unhappy.

Quick and polite service. Had run out of beef short rib but called me back and asked what meat i’d prefer instead and added free chips to make up for it. Souva had soft bread and fall apart meat. So fresh and tasty.
Savvy And Lifestyle
Stopped by for a snack whilst shopping, grabbed the 2am souvo, the pita and the filling had a very delightful taste however found a few chewy part of meat. All together they have a pretty decent menu set out and a nice fit out. Definitely a place to go on the go.

Came here for a quick snack after shopping and really was Nothing like the other jimmy grants I have tried . The meat was dry and hard to swallow, the chips were also soggy

This was my first time trying Jimmy Grants and it was pretty decent. Got the 2am chicken - the chicken was tasty and the sauce was nice, but the highlight was the delicious and soft pita. Definitely think there could’ve been more filling though!

Our first experience at Jimmy Grant's was not a good one. Expected a lot more for what we paid. The pitas were small with 3 small pieces of lamb in each. Not sure why cabbage was added in. Did they run out of lettuce? For $16.90 each we could have had chips and a drink on the side. Not happy George, we won't be back. :((

Up to the usual expectations from this place<br/>Fries with feta were good<br/>Chicken yiros and bread was good too <br/>Like their food and will go back again <br/>
Gilligan
Good yiros, fries were a bit undercooked. Meat was good. Could’ve used a bit more sauce. Had the chicken, probs get the lamb next! A bit annoyed u have to extra for extra sauce
Hungry Little Dinosaur
Overpriced Greek food which would have most Greek people shaking their heads with dismay. Offcuts of chicken and lamb and pork smothered in thyme. Best part of this meal was the can of coke. Looks like it’s not just wages George is skimping on.
Willtravelforfood17
I ordered the lamb souvlaki and fetta chips. The souvlaki had chips in it which I liked. However I felt the pita bread was a little thick and the lamb filling to pita ratio was off - I would have preferred a bit more meat and a little more sauce as it was a bit dry. The fetta chips were OK but because fetta is crumbly it kept falling off the chips and in the end we just ate them separately. The food is average for its price tag.
Carmen Lim
Ordered the nonna maria - loved the chicken and especially the sauce. Having chips put into a souv is a unique experience for me - enjoyed it nonetheless. The place has cute décor and lovely staff. Nothing to complain about!
The Dear Luncher
The Dear Luncher had Jimmy's foisted upon him without choice, this particular meal. Instead of a souva this time, The Greatness platter was experienced. Was it great? Not really. The amount of lamb was limited, but at least it was decent quality. The Jimmy Dimmy that came with it was a unique experience. Looked like a dummy but the innards seemed a little more exotic. A shame that the side was the main attraction.<br/><br/>The Greek salad with added lamb ($4 extra) results in a small chunk of lamb delivered on the side which was utterly perplexing. Looks like Georgey boy is skimping on the lamb and not just staff wages.
Rin
Tried Mr Pap. and it was lovely! The lamb is extremely tender and moist and very well complemented with crunchy chips, sauce, parsley and onion. It is on the smaller side in terms of portion but if u eat the souv. slowly and savour each bite, you’ll feel just right. For such a delicious souv., I think the $11.90 is justified because I’m sure they had to cook the lamb for a really long time to get it that tender and infused.
Rosie Raiti
Juicy succulent lamb in a modern infused kebab , lovely and difficult, perfect for a quick bite when retail shopping, fast efficient service and can amend the menu ingredients
Lindsay Jamison
Worst souva ever, meat tasted like it was stewed/roasted, no flavour and straight from a hot draw!<br/>At $13 at least put some effort into your food.<br/>
Dine And Dash
I'd tried Jimmy Grants a couple of months ago at their Ormond location, and even though I enjoyed the food the serving sizes were really small and it wasn't satisfying. So against my better judgement, I thought I'd try the new Jimmy Grants that opened up in Chadstone Shopping Centre as I'm there quite frequently. This time I ordered the Almighty Mr Papadoupolis which is the biggest size souvlaki and comes with lamb, chips, mustard aioli, onions and parsley. I also ordered a side of chips with garlic oil, feta and oregano. The meat inside the souvlaki was tender and juicy - it was absolutely mouthwatering. The bread was toasted well, hot and fluffy. Overall the souvlaki is to die for! The chips as well were delicious. The feta and garlic oil definitely adds to the flavour and the chips taste so good.<br/>Unfortunately, again, even though I enjoyed my meal, I still felt hungry afterwards and this was really disappointing as I paid almost $25 for lunch! Such a pity. The staff were kind and explained the menu very well. After my experiences at both the Ormond and Chadstone locations, I'm still left with the same opinion - it's not worth the money. Just because George  Calombaris is trying to lose weight doesn't mean his meals have to be so small!!

Edit: Accidentally made the mistake of returning here. Ordered the platter for two, with a ridiculously tiny portion of meat. Asked the server who said the platter for 2 has 300g but the platter for one has 200g. 2x200g=300g. Good maths jimmy.<br/><br/>Really disappointing food. Very expensive for such a small portion size. The chips didn’t even have proper pieces of feta just some crumb slopped on. The souvlaki tasted ok but was tiny. The lamb was very soft but had no crisp on the outside or flavour to indicate it came from the spit. Most likely that meat has been in the warmer for a while. Greek culture is all about food and family, which this restaurant lacked. Much better Greek down the road in oakleigh.

I've got to say I was pretty disappointed when I received my souvlaki. It had a few measly chips, few large chunks of chicken and lamb (lamb was dry) and a sprig of parsley. The mustard was overpowering. At $17 for a supposed large, it was a real letdown.<br/><br/>In my opinion, it is not value for money, especially in a food court setting. If I had to pay $23 for a fast food meal, I'd probably go to Nandos or Grilled.
Peanut Butter Cup
Wow. I genuinely ❤️ JG so much. Every store has the same quality, same efficiency and same TASTY FOOD. Always get a nonna Maria and smash it in a about 0.2 seconds. Keep up the good work‼️
Nay Nay
I have never been so disappointed in Greek food (being one of my favs). I have tried the whole food court except Jimmy grants. I had the opportunity to try it today. I didn't like the souvlaki because the mustard aoli was too intense. The onions were sweet and not right. Together it didn't work. Lucky the chips with the gotta was the saving grace

Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>This was a seriously juicy and soft lamb kebab (the Mr Papadopoulos). It was very filling as we ordered the extravaganza sized option.<br/><br/>Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Quick and prompt service from the server. Staff were friendly and we did not have to wait long for the meal.<br/><br/>Price: 🌟🌟🌟.5<br/>A little pricier considering the type of meal served.<br/>
Tiger Tastes
Tried the fish and chips when this outlet first opened and received a free serve of pita and my choice of dip which was the offer that particular day - don't think they have any daily offers anymore.  The kitchen was pretty disorganised and the counter service was in training so my order took a while, but they've since got their act together.  The serve came with 4 pieces of reasonably sized crumbed fish which is supposed to be blue grenadier and a good serving of chips (I think this might be the only place in Chaddy which does fish and chips).  I've had the fish and chips again since then and found the serving of chips seems to have reduced since they first opened.<br/><br/>Tried the lamb souva on another occassion and although tasty was disappointingly small for the price tag and pretty stingy on the meat.  Maybe I shouldn't be surprised since it's a George Calombaris establishment - find his restaurants have small portion sizes (I thought Greek food should be generous and satisfying!) .  <br/><br/>If I'm at Chaddy and have a hankering for fish and chips I'll be back, otherwise I'll probably leave my souva eating to somewhere like Kalimera in Oakleigh.

I ordered the mixed souvlaki in a meal. The souvlaki was mediocre at best. The meat seemed stewed and really lacked flavor and the chips were really hard and dry. The sauce was the only saving grace in that souvlaki and quite frankly not good enough for the exuberant price of $23. Absolute rip off. Never again. Next time I will go to Eaton mall down the road.

Yum! Great food and great service. Really love the nonna maria and feta chips. Also cool to add a piece of sagananki to my souva. Love coming back here to eat some high quality tasty food - can see why they’re popular

I was so excited trying Jimmy Grants at Chadstone only to be disappointed.  I order a lamb souvlaki called Mr Papadopoulos.  The lamb contained all fat.  I was disgusted by it that I threw it away.  Waste of $12.70.  Really disappointing.  Won't be going again.

Caught our eye amongst all of the selection in the food hall, we ordered a Chicken and Falafel souva, with a side of fries. Great selection of healthy drinks was pleasing to see, and the food was quick. <br/><br/>Falafel was delicious, one of the best I’ve tasted. <br/>Chicken wrap was also very yummy. <br/>Fries had a yum topping of feta, went really well <br/><br/>Only slight downfall is the price - $7 extra for a drink and fries was a bit pricey for the size but no other gripes.
Nini Foodie
Newly opened in the renovated Chadstone foodcourt, I believe this is the 7th outlet in Melbourne. The menu seems to be the same as most of the others. I had the bonegilla which is a mix of lamb and chicken with a tangy mustard and chips (in the souva). Yummy but quite small for the price ($12.90 - although you can get the “almighty” versions here as well). Overall a little dry and not as good as the ones from the original Fitzroy store.

Been wanting to go to Jimmy Grants since I moved to Melbourne in April. <br/><br/>Now that it opened in Chadstone, i finally got a chance to try it out and... highly disappointing. <br/><br/>The food is good (hence the 2.5 score), but this isn’t Greek Food. The flavours aren’t Greek. <br/><br/>The meat is stewed. The onions are cooked and covered in gravy. The Greek Souvlaki always has fresh onions. And there’s parsley. Although the parsley is widely-used in the Greek Cuisine, it has no place in a Souvlaki. And where’s the Tzatziki? As I said - it is a tasty meal, but it’s not Greek...<br/><br/>The chips (patates) - same thing - although nice (actually perfectly-cooked), these aren’t Greek. <br/><br/>So, I am puzzled - Jimmy Grants Markets itself as Greek (actually, Cypriot), yet, it’s anything but!<br/><br/>I wouldn’t go back - there’s a plethora of fantastic (and far cheaper) Greek joints in Melbourne.
Cookielessvee
Newly opened in Chadstone. Friendly service but quite expensive. Ordered the Americano and Mr Papadopoulos with a full fries. Size wise, the souvs arent much difference from the original and almighty. Filling for both is tasty. Chips are average, though the feta is quite strong.<br/>
Anton Babushkin
Expensive, and not tasty at all. The meat tastes like it’s been poached (in a pressure cooker), lacks that rotisserie flavor. The worst part is the value for money though, it’ll cost you $21 for a ‘large’ souva with a drink. You can go to Oakleigh (Kalimera) and get the real thing for half the price.
