I'm sad y'all are closed. I hope you get to read this since your Facebook page is gone now but I ate there last Friday and the place was still packed. The boss (Johnny?) was a real champ, and I hope you move onto something else great.
The food are pretty good, especially the smoke steak with chili sauce on top, the sauce taste wonderful!! However, I thought there maybe too much black pepper onto the fry squid, which totally cover up the flavor of the squid.😂
We called in here for lunch not really expecting anything outstanding. The restaurant was not busy so it was a good choice given we didn't have much time. We were seated quickly by a very friendly waiter and followed up by a really nice waitress to take our order. We both ordered steaks with different sides and sauces. Both meals arrived to our table quite quickly and we were very impressed by the quality of our meals. The steaks were beautifully cooked, exactly as we like them. We followed our mains with dessert which was fresh and very enjoyable. Quality and value for money was very good and hope to return again soon. A+
The place I went to many times. Steak is very fresh and high quality. I love the chips in different style, they also do two size meal, very good for people.
Great friendly staff, very personalised as they introduce themselves and sit next to you while they take your order. Ambience wise felt like I was in the outback in the United States, something different, something you don’t get in most dining place. Enjoyed the curly fries and mash potato! Overall good quality was standard. Felt really full and unhealthy afterwards.
Having driven past Hog's Breath for many, many years, I had my first visit this weekend for the occasion of a friend's birthday. Â Steak houses aren't really my thing and I went in with low expectations. Â However, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised. Â Yes, this is your typical chain style Amercian restaurant. Â I didn't expect such a varied menu - not just steaks, but burgers, chicken, some seafood, salads and the 'trim menu' too. Â The serving sizes are generous and definitely makes it value for money. Â The food is hearty - my chicken dijonnaise was a solid meal, no complaints. Â However not one to write home about either. Â In any case, it was satisfying. Â I'm not sure about the quality of the signature steaks, but others seemed to enjoy them. Â The staff were trying very hard to make sure our large group was looked after and overall, service was very good. Â I'm not sure if I'll come back on my own volition, but certainly wouldn't mind.
Great slow cooked medium rare beef steak with lots of side choices. Recommended large size meal if you're meat lover. Interesting decor and friendly staffs.
Very interesting indoor decoration and u got all these car plates on the wall and gives some old-school feeling. Regarding to their well-known steak, we had one medium and one well done u'know well done steak is always hard to chew but still very juicy. Medium one was tender and juicy as well, cook perfectly with some mashie and home salad 🥗! BBQ pork ribs was satisfying and large enough portions for sharing! Definitely a good experience in Hogs and will bring my parents here next time😋
Steaks are really delicious and tender! Love the curly fries as well. They also have some lunch specials that are really good value. The restaurant is not too busy and has heaps of seating so it's really good for large groups.
Came here a few times before but was particularly happy with our delicious feed this time. The two of us shared the traditional lamb shanks and finger food platter. The former was paired well with the tomato based sauce. Loved the dips and was pleasantly surprised the calamari was not the chewy type, was actually soft and just right. Staff are friendly, often taking a seat next to you when taking your order. We were also seated immediately for friday night dinner without a booking.
Not your typical steakhouse, but nonetheless my favourite. I ordered the serious steak burger, @23.95 is actually worth it as the steak is quite thick but very juicy! My friends ordered the steaks that day was really delicious but they only cook to medium rare, not sure about the freshness and quality, as to why only medium rare and above, no rare. But I only rate according to what I ordered, so is a 4 star game here! Will always be back for their hog curly fries!!
Hogs breath offers (certain) free steak for members having birthdays.
Today we ordered blackened steak, hot dog 3 cheese lunch menu and their sirloin prawn steak.
The blackened steak are just so very tender. And love the sirloin prawn as well. The sauce that comes with it is delicious.
The hot dog is the lunch menu $9.90. It was generous portion with lots of cheese. The hot dog itself is quite nice, as in very smooth and chewy.
Would come back again.
Food : Pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation. Prime rib steak was my main, and it was tasty but slightly overcooked which does dampen the experience slightly. Accompanied by a yummy bruschetta. Finished off the meal with the apple crumble sundae which really hit the spot!
Service : Attentive, really helped as the servers gave my children crayons and colouring activities.
Ambience : Has a nice family feel to it, large tables, memorabilia to look at, good background music, strategically placed TVs.
For lunch had a flathead fish burger with bacon, lettuce.,beetroot and sauce. Very tasty complete with sweet potatoe chips. Around $15.00 very reasonable. My wife had a chicken Hawaiian style schnitzel with curly fries and salad also very tasty. We plan to return.
Great group or family dining place. Been to a few hogs around the country. Food is consistently good for what it is and service friendly and attentive. Tables are big,, not cramped and they got music always rockin out
My first ever Hogs Breath experience was here. I'm from the country were we don't have Hogs Breath. I tried the $9.90 lunch menu and had the Bbq beef wrap, it was delicious and came with a side of curly fries which were the best I've had. Our waitress was warm, friendly and welcoming.
Stopped by for lunch and tried out the new menu. We had the new finger food combo for entree and sadly I prefer the old one better. For mains I had the Barramundi which was terrible and the plate had heaps of oily/watery liquid all over it and the fish and it had scales still on it! Not nice at all but the lovely staff offered to change it for me so I had the eye fillet steak with sweet potato wedges which was really good! My partner had the pork ribs and loved it! Great staff and service.
I Like Food And Games
+3.5
Tender steak (bit pricey), tender ribs (reasonable value)
TASTE/FOOD - I came here this time because I had a hankering for ribs, and price wise for a full rack @ ~$35 its a decent price. Steak is always tender. Ribs are tasty, found the sauce a bit on the sweet side but still nice. Full rack of ribs comes on a bed of rice - rice is pretty hard so doesn't really add to the meal
VALUE - ~$30-$35 per person is a bit on the expensive side. you can purchase ($50) or earn a 25% off loyalty card which would make the meals average-good value.
WORTH GOING BACK? - Yeah probably would if I felt like getting ribs.
Ordered two mains and a side of curly fries. The mains were brought out promptly but the fries were forgotten. Our waitress was friendly but in training so an error that can forgiven.
I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and my friend had the salmon salad. Both meals were really lovely, and I was not able to eat all of my meal, so it was a decent sized portion.
The place was a hive of activity but the staff are prompt and regularly check in if everything is okay.
It was an enjoyable evening.
Been here a few times, has a classic steak house feel to it with decor and layout of old US memorabilia on the walls.
The salt and pepper calamari and hog tail fries are good starters which comes with nice dipping sauces. The blackened and hickory smoked prime rib are my go to steak choices with curly fries and salad. Overall the food is a little over priced but the steaks are nice, a little different take on your standard steak cut which is refreshing. The rocky road sundae to share is s good option between 4 people as it's cheap and there it a huge serving after eating a full steak.
Slightly different to Squires Loft, Hog’s Breath specialized in prime rib and they provided the option to mix and match your steak with seafood and poultry ensuring big meals for you...
I suppose I'm going against all the other reviews. Hog's Breath is a hit and miss restaurant. Last time I went, steak was very much overcooked when I asked for a medium rare. (It does seem like the quality is degrading a bit over time.) However, this time it was done better, still a tad overcooked but not to the same degree as the previous time. Still very much juicy and not tough. Excellent steak in general, especially with the Diane sauce which I get every time. The curly fries are also quite cute
The only thing that bugs me is that the past 2 times that I've gone, the steamed vegetables have come out cold!! Slightly disappointing.
Overall, cheaper than other steakhouses- I suppose you pay for what you get. Steak isn't terrible as others stipulate it to be.
Yum. Love Byron Bay Chilli Prime Rib...with extra sauce!!!
Service can be a bit slow at times, but overall alright.
Great steak.. Veggies were cold.. Good service.. Mud cake dessert is awesome
Always great.. A little expensive, but always amazing food that leaves you full to the brim, yet wanting more, and not disappointed in the fact you split your jeans open.
This store used to be one of my absolute favorites. I had lunch here and had the worst service possible. We stood at the entrance for about ten minutes before someone came to seat us. After ordering, we had to wait till after the entree arrived, and had to ask, for drinks. The mains were good, a bit fattier pieces than normal, but cooked well.
We then sat there for half an hour before one of the staff came round asking how we were doing. I had ordered a dessert prior so asked her to check on it. About 15 minutes later she came back and told us it was being plated up.
I ordered the Mississippi Mud Cake. The flavor was good, but the cake was cold and very hard. Looked like we got the edge piece and it was hard, almost crispy on the sides. The centre was warm though.
Overall, I'm very disappointed with the service and food today.
Convenient location. Very friendly with kids(which is a big plus). The staff was friendly and helpful even when we decided to split the bill six ways. The steak is good and the rest of the menu items are like out of the fridge TV dinner. The steak I had was cooked to order and was melting in your mouth even do it was the premium slice which costed an additional 7 dollars. They also switched the tv to the footy which made the whole experience even better.
Watching Collingwood loosing and having a thick slice of stake with beer and kids quiet is priceless. ;) cheers!
Best sticky date pudding in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Average. The Good:
Love how there is a bar.
Friendly service.
Curly fries!!!!
The bad:
Chicken parma was average.
My partner said the steak was average.
For the quality of food we got I felt it was a bit overpriced.
If I were to come here I again I would do it with a group.
Good food, service not bad. But a bit expensive.
Regular visitors.. Usually quick for service. Food quality is consistent, occasional hiccup but friendly staff. Never leave without having the mud cake. No matter how full it the best!!!!!!
Loved it, as usual.. The rules with going to this place:
1. you must order the steak.. any other menu item (such as the baby back ribs) are not as amusing.
2. if you want medium rare, go a level rarer...
3. dont go on a busy day, late at night because they will run out of the steak they marinated overnight and you will be served with the ones they marinated that day.. the flavour with that makes a big difference.
4. the curly fries makes me happy.:)
5. Hickory Steak is very average, go for something more adventurous.
6. the staff are always ALWAYS friendly.. :)
In the 20 yrs I have been going to Hogs Breath, I have never had a bad meal. Amazing service, mouth watering steak, the garlic bread is devine. This is definitely my choice of place to eat. Highly recommended Hogs Breath. Prices are medium price but worth it.
The salad was good but I think the steaks aren't much to boast about for flavour other than spending an extra 10 for good tasting smoke and ribs.
Ribs were good. The steak dish set was a little sparce/lacking especially for the price. Price is a little on the high side.
Prime Rib done right! Always love coming to this place, delicious tender and juicy steaks, great atmosphere, lovely staff, and good value for your bucks with their frequent diners program.
