Review Whitefire Grill & Bar - Chatswood

Andrew Rader
Haven't been here since it changed hands to become Whitefire, but if anything it's current iteration is an improvement. Service was prompt and attentive and the food was fantastic (pic attached). Interior is classy but not overbearing, this would make a good destination for dinner events like birthdays/anniversaries. While I dined inside, I did quickly check out the outdoor eating section, and my only suggestion for improvement on this visit would be to install a bug zapper as we move into the warmer months as there were a lot of insects flying around (though this was not an issue for me as the door to the outside is closed, so inside is not affected). Overall a very pleasant experience, 5/5.

Our party of four ordered fish, chicken and vegetarian and all were excellent. Most menu items are gluten free. Service was friendly and good. All up a very enjoyable Saturday lunch.

Tasty stakes and a nice wine selection. All served by friendly stuff that give the children a good time, too.

Nice experience, great Sunday lunch. A well organized place. Menu is varied but not over the top, our selections were all very good, the service was professional. I liked the overall experience, beautiful location , a touch of fine dining with a relaxed casual environment. Try the duck as it was very good, the Sydney Rock oysters were fantastic, try oyster Churchill it was very good. Our special thanks to the Manager with the exceptional mustache.

Celebrated a milestone here for dinner. Relaxed atmosphere with a hint of fine dining, it was a quiet night and the setting was serene. Food selections are diverse, and though not extensive there should definitely be something for everyone. Waiter was lovely and shared some stories whilst we were chatting. Great wine menu and the steak was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked to order. Will happily return. The Thai salad with coriander is AMAZING and a must try.

Great place for a relaxing dinner out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Over-looking the Lane Cove River, parking is not an issue at this stand-alone restaurant. We ordered the wagyu fillet and Black Angus rib-eye. Both were juicy and tender and full of flavour. They have a pretty decent wine list as well. Service is just as it should be - warm and hospitable. Great value

First time trying out Whitefire, great relaxing location right next to Lane Cove River
Great easy parking, no need to drive to city anymore for a decent meal
We had the lamb shoulder to share, and the seafood platter to share, both were great
We shared the dessert share plate which was also very good
Service was very good, we will go back for sure

Decent food and very attentive wait staff. Had a work Christmas party lunch which went off without a hitch. Definitely think they are trying to portray themselves as more fancy than they are though (white table cloths and the like). The 'waterfront' is really just a view of an average looking creek. Nevertheless, a fun time and nothing to frown too much about!

View is good, bread is fantastic, but the sauce of steak is a little bit salty. Also we are disappointed with the meat, what we want is medium rare, but it served like blue...

Unfortunately the restaurant was not prepared for a busy Valentine's. The bush setting was nice, the food would have been great if it had of been served straight from the kitchen (not sitting for 30min), but unfortunately the service let it down significantly. I sympathise with having new wait staff on & trying a new system in an attempt to deal with it, but it was an absolute failure & it's not pleasant to spend Valentine's among a room full of angry customers, some having to spend 3 hours waiting on 3 courses.

I recently had my 25th birthday here and had a fantastic experience. The food was great - highly recommend the mini burgers! The service was excellent - very friendly staff! We booked the outside courtyard and had our own bar out there as well, perfect area for functions/ events! I will definitely be back for lunch/dinner soon!

We had Mother's Day Lunch at Whitefire Grill and Bar. Very impressed ๐ŸŒŸ. The food was first class and great value, the view was lovely, the staff were great. We had a lovely time. We were the last to leave ๐Ÿ˜Š and we really recommend this restaurant. Lovely! Worth a visit. ๐Ÿท

Was a little disappointed with this place. Some of the food was great and some of it pretty disappointing. Duck was great but the pork belly was dry. Oysters were nice but the chicken was too salty. Staff were attentive but given there was no one else in the place I guess you would expect a bit of extra attention.

Great location, amazing food, fabulous friendly service! Despite a large wedding party and being short staffed, we had the most lovely people take care of us. The food was superb, the most amazing fresh, warm bread and the passion fruit curd nougat cannelloni dessert is amazing! Perfect for a quiet lazy weekend lunch.

I had a great dinning experiance at Whitefire in about late May, so we went there for lunch and I took my son with me on Sunday, we noticed some great looking burgers being served and decided to give the beef burgers a try.
Burgeres seem to all the fashion now, we tried the new place in Chatswood last week near end of Victoria ave, which was nice.
Both burgers arrived a little late, in a large and warm brioche bun there was a thick juicy wagyu beef(so i was told) , an amazing tangy suce almost hot which the waiter said was chilli jam and was made in house, as was the burger patty, we devoured the burgers and the hand cut chips which was great, asked for more chilli jam on the side to eat our chips with.. A fantastic burger, it was expensive at $24 but i think well worth it. Within 2 minutes of burgers arriving the old couple next to us also ordered the burgers. Next time the chicken burger..ย Also they had these large skewres of meats on large stand being delivered to tables, this place is a must try, whacky in some way but great, a bit of old fashinoed service , abit of Europe and Middle east thrown in.

Serene beautiful location, hidden away on the banks of Lane Cove River, never knew this place had opened.
We dined at Whitefire a few weeks ago middle of June and the food was stunning
We shared a few entrees, the open ravioli was just gorgous, the prawn hot pot was tangy warm and worthwile asking for more bread to dip into it.,
The pork belly was just amazing as was the seafood skewer.
A great mix of tastes from Europe, Austrlaia & Middle East, thast what I think anyway.. Gotta stop sounding like a MasterChef critic,ย because I am, not I just love good food..
We have been again yetsrday and food was great again

Great food. We had a wonderful meal at the Whitefire Restaurant Friday evening 27th March.
Each course was beautifully presented as well as tasting even better than it looked
The service was excellent and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and suggestions made to improve our choices,
Couldn't fault the evening so 10 out of 10. Sadly I live in WA so will have to wait for my next visit,

Whitefire is in such a beautiful location overlooking the water - Lane Cove River in fact. By day you can lunch and gaze out over the water. Owner/chef Nadel has put a lot of thought into the decor of the venue and the food and drink menus. Drawing on his French training in Corsica there are some lovely dishes and great sauces - he spent years perfecting sauces having prepared around 2,500 of them!

Excellent!. Went there for my wife's birthday. The service and the food were really enjoyable and the water view is gorgeous. Highly recommend it

Lunch on the river.. In the last two weeks I have had lunch twice at Whitefire and both lunches were excellent.
First I had the duck, very good and the other day I had their pulled lamb, could not have been tastier although a bit heavy for lunch.
The food is excellent, good selection of wines great views and good service although it's not busy during the day, I will certainly be going back.
Happy luncher.

Mid Week Date Night. My husband and I have been to Whitefire a couple of times now, we had a date night dinner last week and the atmosphere was wonderful. I had the crispy roast duck and it was so so so good, I even had that moment when you take a bite and your eyes roll back, my husband had the roast pork and refused to share with me, it was so good. we don't do starters but I did get my hands on this yummy pink cocktail, I don't remember the name but I could have drunk 10 of them, my husband splurged and get the vanilla panna cotta and he loved it. We will definitely coming back,

Breakfast at Whitefire. Woken up at 7.00am on fathers day, my 11 year old son had organised our morning with my lovelly partner.
Took a 1 hour bike ride at Lane Cove National park, and then had breakfast at Whitefire which to my surprise my son had booked.
The boys both had the huge french toast and milkshakes, I had the amazing scrambled curry eggs with fresh orange juice, my better half had the egg salad which she enjoyed with a glass of OJ as well.
Thank you Aaron for organising the morning and a great brekkie, and the left over french toast by my 5 year old went down well with coffee.

Fathers Day Kitchen Nightmare. I was unlucky enough to be taken to Whitefire for fathers day this year. Service was an absolute shambles - we waited 45 mins for starters, then over an hour more for mains. These had to be chased five times with three different members of staff. Desert never came, despite another 30 minutes wait and discussions with the supervisor and the manager. Our table was covered in used plates as the waiters drifted around looking lost.

The staff were apologetic but ineffective and kept saying that the Chef was in control. I'm not sure what he was in control of as the kitchen was in chaos. We got most of our meals in the end - though the quality was very average - and asked to have dessert knocked off the bill before leaving as we were out of time. We did much better than other people as tables around us either had some or none of their dishes delivered and a number of tables called it quits and left.

I understand that it was the first time that they had run a set menu but it was unfair of them to test it out on paying customers on what was supposed to be a special family day. If they had handled the situation better I would give them the benefit of doubt but nobody took responsibility for the situation so I'd rather cook my own face than give them any more of my hard earned cash.

Avoid.

Good venue, good food, long wait for the meals to arrive. I visited Whitefire with a few friends on Saturday night and overall was fairly pleased with our visit. I had the prawn dukka which was lovely, while my husband had the scollop dumplings. The dumplings were miniature and only got 2 however it was served within a soup style dish. It was nice but my husband would have preferred something a big more substantial and was eyeing off my prawns which were lovely.

We then waited more than an hour for our main to arrive and we noticed that the rest of the tables within the restaurant also had to wait a long time and everyone looked a little disappointed with that. Even the waiters were standing around polishing glasses waiting for the meals to be presented. The restaurant was full of people not eating at one stage which looked terrible, then all the mains seemed to arrive in one big rush. I also noticed that very few decided to stay for dessert which I think had to do with how long they had to wait for their mains. I had the pork for main which was little dry but not too bad.

Wines are fairly expensive and our meal came to $200 per couple which I thought was a little over the top particularly for a suburban restaurant (house wine was $45 odd and the next option up was $70 a bottle). More wine choices are needed before I would return again on a regular basis if I have to pay the bill.

The venue is nice and unfortunately you can't see much at night but it looked like they had a nice outdoor seating area for warm summer days.

I would recommend giving it a go at least particularly if you are a local.

One of the Best Steaks I have had in Sydney. Friend of mine took me here for lunch 2 weeks ago, it was half full and relaxing by the river
We orderd mains only and a bottle of wine with a salad.
My rib eye on the bone was done medium rare, it had a great woody smokey taste. I complimented the chef who then told me their steaks are grilled on a wood fired grill. I have had some great steaks in Sydney and this one would rank with the top 3 steak houses in Sydney.

Quite, great location, very tasty meats and good services. In Sydney last week, as usual stay at Chatswood for work related reasons lst week tried 3 places at Chatswood, this week back to Sydney Monday and wanted a realy good steak with a friend on Tuesday, found Whitefire Grill by chance, the place was very quiet and its hidden away from the loud Chatswood CBD, walked in and only 3 other tables taken, took a table outside and ordered the angus 400g (ribeye/not sure) on the bone..
A tad expensive at $50, but unbelievably tasty. For quick feed I love Mamaks at Chatswood, and now I know where to entertain my clients in a peaceful quite place with great food and service
P.S Nice small wine list

Don't Bother!!. Went here a couple of weeks after opening, excited that a new restaurant was open so close to home.
We were very disappointed to say the least. Not only was the service slow (it was a Thursday night and only 3 other tables were occupied), the wine glasses on the table were dirty and we were served RAW chicken. When we pointed out the raw chicken to the first waiter, he simply looked at it, said "that doesn't looked real cooked" and walked away. We then mentioned it to a second waitress who was very apologetic and promptly whisked the offending dish away. when she returned she again apologised and offered us a round of desserts on the house.
When it came time to order our deserts the first waiter took our order, only to return and inform us that we would only get 1 dessert to share. When the bill came we were shocked to find that they were still charging us for the raw chicken dish that we could not consume.
I find it shocking that any restaurant should serve and charge someone for raw chicken let alone one that has only just opened and is advertised as 'Fine Dining'.
Do yourself a favour and don't bother.

Magnificent. Great food, Great service & Great atmosphere.
I have never written a review for a restaurant before but had to take time off for this one as it is truly worthy of a mention. I am a very hard person to please when I Dine out and White Fire Grill over exceeded my expectations. Couldn't ask for more.

Finaly a local Grill house that. Dinner on Friday night was fab, we loved the gorgous brochettes and the duck was to die for
We then found out that the Head Chef was no other then Nabil Belramoul, whom we use to to visit at Balmoral Beach.. Nice to see you again Nabil and we love your new place.
We now have two local places that we can dine out without having to drive 30 minutes, pay car parking and bridge fees just to have quality food..
Whitefire Grill & Via Napoli is for us

Dissappointed local. Overpriced, under serviced. Took over 2 hours for a party of 5 to get through 2 courses! Dessert took nearly 40 minutes from ordering to arrival. Food was good but not worth the inflated prices or the time waited for delivery.
