Review Raffis - Chatswood

Raffie is a Persian cuisine that you will enjoy every bit of it. The environment is also very friendly, cosy and interesting. The chef (owner) was a bit serious at first, then become very friendly he brought us a unique extremely delicious jam we had with tea also he sang and played guitar for us. It was a great memory. Since then we have tried more until COVID-19 pandemic shutdown!

Super nice atmosphere at Rafi’s Persian restaurant. A cosy setup with a nice selection of original dishes. Try the mixed three course menu for the best tastes. Deserts a bit too sweet, but assuming close to traditional style.

Came here for breakfast/lunch last Sunday. Basically left us speechless...that and we were too busy savoring every bite of what was placed in front of us. The flavor combinations were perfect, the food was presented beautifully, the service was amazing, and the place itself is so beautifully unique. Kudos to the owner/chef who has clearly put his heart and soul into this establishment. Will certainly be coming back here, perhaps on a weekly basis!

It looked a bit shady walking in and sitting down with all their mismatched furniture, but the place is well looked after and the food was so good. The zatar herb bread was so much better than what I thought and what it looks like. It gets messy to eat..but that makes it all the more enjoyable.

Good place, quirky with an interesting and very tasty menu. Happily tried the middle eastern breakfast option (yum), while our son had their more traditional eggs benedict. Our food was delayed (as advised when we ordered) while we waited for the chef to come back from market. The bags bulging with fresh produce was reassuring and indicative of the quality here.

4.2 Interesting decor, friendly quirky owner/chef and great food. We enjoyed the Mezze Plate which was very generous and had a great variety of food. BYO and licensed which is great!

A really quaint little restaurant. It's a fair way from the hustle and bustle from Chatswood, but definitely worth the walk. We had breakfast here and it was pretty great and a change from the standard breakfast brunch fare (which, tbh is pretty good and competitive in Chatswood)

One of my current favourite places to go with immaculate foods! The Vegetarian Breakfast is superb! I did ask once for something Vegan which they happen to make something up for me and as you can see in my photos, they did a great job! More photos on insta: @rezzie3

Driving through unfamiliar surrounds on the way up north, we happened past Raffi’s and stopped for a coffee. After seeing all the delicacies in the cold cabinet, we ended up staying for a bite to eat. Service is leisurely, the coffee is strong and the food is tasty and presented nicely.

EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE!!
We waited for 15 minutes before someone took our order, and another 15 mins to get cutlery and 15 more minutes for our food.! What was worse, several people who came in after us and got their food way before we did! Either they need to hire more competent wait staff or warn their customers to wait for a long time before they can eat something!

Accidentally discovered this place. The ambience is very rustic, service is prompt.Tried the turkish coffee along with haloumi wrap and falafel wraps.Good place to have a quick bite.

Slightly on the pricy side for the portion quantity. Staff were friendly but the service was slow for not being busy. Coffee came when I had almost finished my meal after asking for it several times before hand. When it finally came it was almost tasteless both sugar and coffee wise. My meal was also served with the wrong sides.

Raffi has put his heart and soul into his amazing restaurant. Everything in the store is handcrafted by him and all of his dishes are created to perfection 👌🏽

Raffi warmly welcomed me into his restaurant and created myself and my 3 friends a three course banquet. 😮 It was to die for & bursting with flavour!! His food is created with so much passion and attention to detail.

You can truly taste the love he puts into his food.

So pleased with the food, people and environment created here! Great service with the food being served quickly, whilst still delivering taste! Would recommend to anyone who is looking a local cafe that has good service and food!

Fun Persian-Turkish fusion breakfast and lunch spot- would love to come back for dinner. The Sufuk (Turkish sausage) was excellent, and the pomegranate juice is excellent!!!

Perfect blend of modern food with lovely flavours and amazing ambience. The place was super cool. In love with the ambience. Perfectly decorated every corner. We were there for breakfast over a weekend. Ordered for a vegetarian platter and mushroom with haulomi sandwich. Both of them were scrumptious.
Value for Money - 3/5
Food - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 4/5
The staff were friendly enough and the menu looked delicious, but a mix up in the kitchen resulted in the chef (who I would guess was the owner) yelling across the restaurant to my partner, who doesn't eat pork, that they don't separate their utensils so all the food would be contaminated and he should therefore cancel his order. Besides being rude, it was humiliating for my partner who was made to feel embarrassed for a mistake made by staff.
Had been recommended this place by friends but will definitely not be back.

Located on the quiet end of vict ave @corner of penshurst st, raffi may not get the same exposure as other food establishments on the retail side of chatswood. Shame really. If our breaky experience here is anything to go by, we would return to try their other offerings either @lunch or dinner.

As ones who are unfamiliar with turkish armenian food, we approached this with an open mind. Turned out that it was hardly needed. You know it when you stumble on something good.

Must try! Vegetarian breaky 4/5 consisted of grilled mushrooms, tossed spinach, onion, poached eggs, on feta pancake with eggplant dip. Each element was cooked without fault, ermmm the feta pancake 'might' hv been prepared beforehand (not sure), the eggplant dip was a nice surprise, smoky creamy, goes well with the pancake. A nice touch which i realized closer to finishing off the plate was that the pancake has been cut into nice little squares. All the better to soak up the egg yolks.

Warm yoghurt with poached eggs garlic n mint named aptly dish from raffi's mom kitchen was enjoyable. A simple well executed dish that any loving mom would cook. 3.75/5

Best order their hot fresh mint tea (see pic on my dineline) to accompany your breaky. Give them a go peeps.

It was the bestie's belated birthday brunch. We dropped in, intrigued by the colours and the promise of something exciting and we were not disappointed. We ordered Raffi's breakfast, which was beautifully presented on a lavish platter of colours, a cornucopia of fragrant aromas. Our jaws actually dropped on first sight. The produce was fresh with zingy tabouli, the sweetness of pomegranate, the lingering taste of dolmades, the refreshing nature of the hommus, baba ganoush and tzaztiki with pita. What a treat! :)

I was excited to take my partner out for dinner after he had and a stressful week to Raffi's never being there before but I drive past each day to travel to work.
With there being Persian and Turkish cuisine which we both enjoy, I thought this would be perfect.
The day core has a quirky feel interesting rustic.
We ordered Beef dolmades ,shepards salad ,lamb backstrap, beef stew .When the domades arrived we ate and found no meat, the waitress after we enquired told us that Raffi's mother makes them and they never know which ones are which.Well......that made no sense to me but we ordered another spicy lamb small bowl as we both were looking forward to them as we didn't want the normal vegetarian vine leaves. As our mains came out Raffi bought them and sat at the table,as he did the waitress was telling him that I told them that your mum had made the dolmades ! Raffi explained that he had had a huge day and did not have the time to make the beef ones he said my mother does not make them, and he apologised and told us he would go so we could enjoy our dinner. We are pretty reasonable people and I have no problem with I'm sorry we have run out but when I given a bullshit story from the waitress, I'm really not impressed because it makes me think that I've been treated like an Idiot, paid for something I didn't want .Other than that the food was nice my partners dinner was not the beef stew with the saffron rice was really strange like something had been left out of the dish it didn't work I gave him my pear from my lamb backstrap to give it some sweetness that it required. We won't be back ,and I'm sorry that they did what they did,as the staff were very nice but to me it was a golden rule broken prior to ordering we should have been told it was not available , be truthful to your customers and they will be frequent your business .

Great food but slow slow service. Lamb shoulder was melt in the mouth and the almond custard and pear dessert was light, fragrant and delicious.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Worst service I have ever experienced. Anywhere.

My son & I were seated by 'Raffi' on a 4 seat table. Not a particularly busy mid morning. He said they would need the table in half an hour & I said, fine we were just having a quick coffee. 10 minutes in & more than half way through our very ordinary coffee, Raffi asked us to leave! I said that we'd only been there for 10 minutes - and he had seated us there. He rudely said, 'I don't know how long you will be, maybe an hour!' He belligerently continued on about being entitled to run his cafe anyway he liked and then said, 'don't worry, you don't have to pay'. As if I was planning to, after having been asked to leave like this.

Quite unbelievable. What a joker.

Not recommended at all.

LOVE this amazing restaurant. I think it says something about a place when the food can make you happy.
Simply wonderful, thoughtful, authentic and lovingly made home cooked dishes and personal (often quite hilarious and quirky) service. I have never had a bad dish here (try the pomegranate chicken main), and always make sure you leave room for slow-poached quince, saffron icecream, rice pudding or caramelized figs to finish... the desserts are perfect. If you are in a group, the banquet is one of the best value experiences I have had in Sydney, and the ambiance is such that you can book a private corner for a date or have a big gathering feast along a decorated party table and it still feels just right. Thanks Raffi!

WE LOVE RAFFI'S!!!. Always love the food there. The decor is very original, warm and inviting. Raffi is a bit eccentric but it all adds to the charm. He makes you feel right at home. I recommend the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the grilled eggplant with spicy lamb mince- they're our favourites. The homemade drinks are refreshing- love the sour cherry & rosewater. If I could budget for it I would love to eat there every week!! The deserts are worth saving a little room for!

Needs a focus on service. We dropped in and after waiting 8 min went to ask for a menu .... another 10 min later we got bored of being ignored

Pity because we went there a few times when they opened and the food is magnificant

Delicious. Atmosphere is unique and the food is delicious. If the service improved, this would be the perfect low-key hang out.
