Delicious and relatively okay priced. Good serving size. Waited a little while for the chicken however we were offered free drinks which was amazing. Excellent service!
I first stumbled across Bulgogi in Strathfield in Sydney’s west where a large Korean community reside. Since then I have been a regular visitor to its Chatswood outlet located on the main strip of Victoria Avenue steps away from the train station. The word “Bulgogi” literally translates as “fire meat”, It refers to a Korean-style dish made of marinated and thinly sliced meat grilled on a barbecue or a stove-top griddle. That’s exactly what I remember vividly about the trip to Strathfield. At Chatswood store, I usually go with the $14.50 daily lunch special. It alternates between bimbibap, spicy seafood tofu soup, and spicy pork on a hot plate.
Been to The Bulgogi a few times and I loved it. It has great food, lots of selections, good price, and friendly staff too. At lunchtime it takes about 15-20 minutes for the food to come.
Very nice lunch venue, not too expensive as well. The meat was really nice and a lot of vegetarian options as well. Staff were very friendly and accommodating which was surprising reading the other reviews. Would like more of a variety or bigger sized side dishes but would recommend.
This place was lovely! Lovely food and great service. The people were very watchful and made sure we were comfortable the whole time. Lovely food. Bit pricey.
I don't know why this place is rated so low.. It's actually a fantastic restaurant which I came to with some friends who are Chefs, and I'm sure they would know what tastes good or not! Really great quality Korean BBQ, the Bulgogi was delicious, they even have sushi platters which were great starters, the sashimi tasted so fresh. Always fun to go to KBBQ with a group of friends - this place was a hit!
Nestled on the outside fringe of Chatswood’s Westfield sits The Bulgogi, a two-levelled restaurant dishing up some serious Korean BBQ. We managed to try some of Bulgogi’s most popular dishes, which had a strong seafood and steak theme. I was salivating as soon as the dishes hit the table, all in rapid succession.
Great value for money. Food was fresh and ample. Good facilities, staff a bit slow/distracted. Wagyu was excellent quality. Highly recommended.
Korean ninja!!
I think this place has new management, the food quality and portion seems to be better. Service was great (maybe because it was a weekday lunch).
Love the Korean Shabu shabu version because the meat was on point. (Galbi beef ribs) the dduckboki was really good, the best i had and most of the dishes are not too bad. Loved their sizzling dishes and the sides.
Until next time ... Keep eating!!
We have been there twice; both times ordered lunch special bbq. The food was excellent. Most of the service is also very good. Some of the waiters appear tired and out of it - probably over worked. But overall we like the place and will go there again.
Great food and such a fun way to eat - cooking your own food at the table on hot coals. The pork belly was particularly tasty - as was the wagyu beef.
Had the Korean BBQ craving so I knew it could be satisfied at The Bulgolgi. Been here many times and although the quality of food is very high, management just can't seem to be comfortable with their pricing and offering. They have tried buffet, Groupon, Scoopon and now have removed all that and gone down the set menu path which is a bit of a hit and miss. Assuming diners will like everything on offer is always dangerous in a set menu and whats more perplexing is that some of the set menus do not appear to be great value. The pricing of all their al a carte dishes have always been high but granted, this is the same for all Chatswood Korean restaurants. Therefore, I don't think they are generous when it comes to value as their menu really didn't make much sense.
Anyway, beyond the confusing price structure, we ordered the Beef Yuke (raw beef with quail egg) - very fresh and excellent as always. For the BBQ, we ordered the beef tongue (improved quality), beef short ribs and beef oyster blade. Couldn't fault any of their meats; were of a high standard but the portions were small. Shame they reduced the amount of dipping sauce they use to provide and the Kim Chi portions were very small.
The service was adequate but they never remember their regulars which is poor management as they always have the same staff working there.
Moral of the story is - expect high prices, expect average service but enjoy the good quality food on offer.
Mum and I both love Korean food, so when we found ourselves needing lunch in Chatswood while I was visiting, she suggested we try The Bulgogi. We both chose the dol sot bibimbap or hot stone rice bowl featuring beef, egg, veggies, pickles and rice. Yum!
It's not cheap but the BBQ is actually substantially better than other Korean restaurants. The sashimi etc is good too. Self-standing mains (bulgogi, udon, etc) aren't anything special but they're very reasononably priced anyway. Service has in my experience always been good.
Like any quintessential Bibimbap, this came with a hearty serving of vegetables: bean sprouts, carrot, zucchini, seaweed salad, pickled radish, bamboo shoots, spinach, mushrooms, all nestled in with tender pieces of grilled Wagyu Bulgogi beef. My absolute favourite part is the layer of crispy, caramelised rice left on the bottom after letting it sit for a while. Yummmmm.
BlissFULL. Amazing selection of food. if you like sashimi and wagyu beef give this place a try
Efficient service, tasty food, salmon and steak actually cooked as requested - medium rare! Would return.
Love it! Always order way too much food. The seafood pancake is to die for.
I've been coming here with my partner for a few years now. Always hospitable and a good atmosphere. The staff are great and always make sure we are comfortable.
For a place called bulgogi they sure do make very mean Japanese food. The hot pot we ordered was beautiful, broth was delicate and tasty while vegetables were fresh and plentiful. The meat itself was well marbled and tasted awesome after being dipped in broth to cook. The only draw back is that they gave very little noodles and I wasn't a fan of the creamy sauce they served. The sushi/sashimi platter was fresh and delicious and the wasabi was fresh and very spicey. The only draw back was that the fish was cut a little too thick and it didn't taste as delicate and it should've. The place is quite busy and it can be hard to get their attention and the price was quite high for the dinner menu. All in all it was a good experience and I will be back.
