Review Mr Fat Duck Peking Restaurant - Chatswood

Very friendly and excellent food quality in Chatswood. Definitely the gem in the north shore for Peking duck. The duck was amazing and very juicy, the skin was crispy and the wrapping was hot and fresh. I told the owner the food was really good. Authentic and delicious. It is a little pricy around $90 for the duck. However paying $90 for excellent duck is better than $30 for a bad duck in other suburbs. The roast tofu was really nice as well. 紅燒豆腐 The owner was also from Hong Kong and told us he opened this store around 5 years ago. Previous store was in the rocks in the city. Will definitely be back in the future and will bring family friends here. They also have larger tables for larger groups. The wait time for the food may be long so do not expect this to be a quick meal. The owner said they start roasting the duck once the order is taken hence the wait. 北京烤鴨好正,肉嫩,多汁,脆皮。老闆香港人,北京菜有少少港式口味。店亦有上海菜。

Not that great compared to the other restaurants in chatswood cbd. Ordered 4 dishes that came to $100...quite steep. The best thing was the xiao long bao - very juicy and slightly larger than din tai fung. Ordered the wok fried chicken - this grossed me out. The chicken texture was of a steamed white fish. Soft and questionable if the meat was actually cooked... The sauce was great - really garlicky but the meat was a pass! The shanghai style noodles were bland and just tasted oily, a lot of msg, and had a margarine flavour. Horrible... The salt and pepper eggplants were amazing! The garlic and shallot toppings were fantastic with the soft but crispy eggplant! They were understaffed so service was VERY slow - but it seems they were out with a cold. Would I come back? maybe to try the duck but it seems to come shredded rather than sliced and neatly presented. There are better places in chatswood.

Friendly service and delicious food. Peking Duck and Chrysanthemum Fish were wonderful. However response to add hot water to the tea pot was slow. Highly recommended.

Both the Peking & Tea smoked duck are excellent! When it’s busy (most of the time!) you may need to be patient :). This is our one stop duck shop - best in Sydney.

Their tea smoked duck was so tasty, so were the other dishes we ordered. Although service was slow probably due to lack of staff that we waited a while for our food but will go back again for sure.

Probably one of the best Peking duck I've had in Sydney. The skin was super crispy and they load the plate with a generous portion for a whole duck.

Great value for Whole Peking roast duck 🦆with 12 big pancakes plus a choice of 2nd side fried noodles with duck, vegetables or duck soup.

The Peking duck here is prepared and served generously with the most amazing original Peking duck flavour and style, which we really appreciated. We recommend duck frame soup which was cooked with tofu and tender Chinese cabbage. The soup was light and delightful and so comforting. The service was friendly. We will be back !

I went to Mr Fat Duck for the first time last night. We were a party of three and after having no issues finding a park close by we were received with a very friendly greeting. The food was outstanding. Standouts being the 1/2 tea duck with pancakes and minced chicken Peking noodles. The restaurant was full yet service was still excellent and the staff were quick to respond. I will be returning.

Awesome food and we love it here but service can be a bit slow and a bit pricey

It was bit salty. Service could be better for the price they asking

There is no customer service exists at this restaurant. Ever worst service I've got so far. The waiters don't care about customers requests, neither the manager. They gave all the excuses for their mistakes. Will never come back again

Honestly not even worth coming here for the good food - the customer service (manager included) is piss poor: not only do they not listen to what you order, when they bring you the wrong food, it comes with a side of pathetic excuses and justifications. I’m surprised this place is even still open considering how bad the service is.

Friendly service and delicious food. We had the crispy duck and sizzling beef - both were delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant a great gym off the main strip in Chatswood.

Food was good however dishes arrived one after another with almost 20 mins gap between each. As a result, we waited almost 1 and a half hours before the final dish arrived, and received absolutely no apology from the manager after we told him about our experience. Truly abysmal customer service that ruined what could have been a great night.

I love Peking duck and it is really good here. The other dishes aren't as memorable.

The staff are really friendly. The restaurant is clean since it is new and is usually busy.

It was quite busy on a wednesday night even though it was located away from the Chatswood CBD. We ordered some buns, rice, their famous duck dish, Shandong Chicken and some soup. The buns were really soft and fluffy. The fried rice was also delicious, not overly moist or dry.

We finished the meal ordering deep fried red bean pancake. It was too oily and too much pastry, I didn't enjoy it that much.

Good serving sizes, and reasonably priced - much better than Sea Treasure etc. in Chatswood. Highly recommend the Peking duck. Crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. I’d say it was one of the better ducks I’ve had in Australia.

Food was decent but their service was extremely slow. It took them 25minutes to the first dish out which was only just a cold appetiser. The Peking duck was pretty good but everything else was very mediocre. Everything was barely warm when served so the wraps for the Peking duck had sort of hardened when they served it to us. Their deep fried rolls weren’t crispy at all, in fact the supposedly crispy bit was chewy because it was cold when it was served to our table.

Great food, but really slow. Our 12 pm lunch turned into a 2pm afternoon tea. Avoid at all cost, go to Chatswood if you want equally good quality food with decent service. I can’t fault the food, but they are not worth the 2 hour wait.

Finally, some good Chinese food in the Chatswood area. This is the second time I've been to Mr. Fat Duck and they really do not disappoint. They make technically difficult Chinese food really well and their dishes are drool worthy❤️❤️❤️. However on the down side, the wait in between each dish was slightly long as the kitchen is slow in sending dishes out.

*RECOMMENDED DISHES*
[I am unsure of the exact name of the dish because I forgot to take a photo of the menu, but I'll try my best to describe them]
- egg white with crab meat
- fried jumbo prawn in a chilli sweet sauce
- dumplings with vegtables in a chicken broth

* RATING *
Food: 4.75/5
Venue: 3/5
Service: 2.5/5
