Review San Churro - Chatswood

Jennifer C
Friendly and quick service. Fresh churros and delicious real hot chocolate (not that sugary powdered hot chocolate!). Churros are hot and crispy and plenty of dips to choose from. However in saying that the churros can be so crispy that they cut up into your mouth and it does feel uncomfortable, a slightly softer fluffier batter would be perfect. The store seems a bit short staffed so tables aren’t cleaned well after each customer. The communal water jug is also quick to run out of water(suggest they provide a few jugs customers can bring back to the table) and the cups are dirty. Can order at your table via QR code.

Terrible service Disgusting tables. We’ve been waiting here for 20 minutes for churros, none of the tables cleaned up. The girls are just chatting behind the counter.

Waited for a long time because they lost our order slip, they said that their is a printer error but i actually saw the printer printing receipts. Didn't even give us a copy of it so i doubt it's the printers fault. 😏 If I didn't ask about our order then we are waiting for nothing. They asked twice for our order and then we waited for a long time again which is a little annoying. Excited to eat dessert but ruined. 😕

Yum. What can beat some churros and chocolate for breakfast 😜 Perfect place for a cold day. Keep you warm with some awesome coffee , chocolate and hot churros with some amazing service

The food was good, the churros tasting nice. The caramel sauce in particular was quite good, and the icecream tasted nice as well. I may be a little biased in saying this, since we were on a time constraint, but the service took a while.

Went to get a ChocoLoco just now. Twos girls working at this shift are totally unprofessional and careless. I asked for more chocolate flakes to be added. They added small sugar balls without asking me a laughed about it. Then when I asked I didnt ask for sugar balls but chocolate flakes, they replied they don't have flakes in stock. Worst Chocoloco I've had in my life - what a waste of my time and money and after all this had to put up with such rude and unprofessional behaviour. I don't even want to give one star and I will make sure, I tell my friends not to visit this store when these staff in particular are working. Other staff at different shifts are way better.

Delicious churros and frappe! The cookie butter frappe was the most memorable shake I have ever had, recommend greatly. The member/student deals are so great. The mini snack pack was freshly made and very filling. San churro is definitely my favourite churros and dessert place.

Amazing churros but service so so; inattentive staff walking in circles not knowing where to take food & drinks & was given the wrong order, had a birthday & was offered sparklers, forgotten about when food was brought out, dirty tables but will be back to try again :)

Good for a change !!

I got the churros for two with cookie butter and milk chocolate. The churros were nicely done, very crispy.

The cookie butter was a bit powdery but tasted good.

Friendly service and their churros are consistently quite good! Pretty pricey though...and their coffee isn’t too great either. I would really come here for the churros tbh

Service here wasn't too bad but wait time for the food was a little longer than we're used to.
Food was fresh and tasted just as good as the other stores.
There wasn't enough chocolate dipping sauces either.
My friends ran out when sharing their churros for two and as you can see in the picture, my mini snack box had next to no chocolate.
Probably won't come back to this chain.

Any excuse for a chocolate filled churro!!! Love this place only because of its freshness and pricing. Nothing beats a fresh churro that melts in your mouth. Good hot chocolate here too!!

San Churro in Chatswood is right nearby the cinema. I came here with my other half on a Saturday afternoon. Our order got mixed up with another person. My partner said the staff look quite inexperienced and young so he's not surprised that there was a mix up. We ordered the toasted fluff mini churros which had a series of small churros with chocolate drizzled over and there was toasted fluff which tasted like marshmellow. The food was fine but I think I'd prefer max brenner, oliver brown and the choc pot

Have enjoyed Churros previously at this restaurant. Was disappointed at 9:30pm (exactly) last night when they advised me that it was too late to order two pots of tea and churros. They told me that they close at 11:00pm and needed to clean up. I honestly felt the staff simply couldn't be bothered! So lesson is: don't bother with this restaurant after an evening movie.

For the record, I think churros are best with caramel sauce!

Good option for a quick snack while in Westfield. There's usually lots of seats available. The churros are great when they're freshly fried. I like the dark chocolate dip better as the churros batter is sweet already.

Definitely a go-to place for get togethers,or when you need to wind down. San Churros offer a vast selection of drinks, chocolates, desserts, and of course- Churros.
Crispy churros dipped in the chocolate of your choice. Who could ever ask for more?

The only downside is the very busy and crowded environment. Which in turn, lead to slow service.

The churro snack pack is definitely a huge yes from me. The cutest take on the hsp, and really yum. Filling enough to be lunch tbh and well priced

I love churros and planned to try them from Sanchurro. The ambience is nice and contemporary and the service is prompt.
Churro with dark and milk chocolate-It had a very nice aroma of chocolate and cinnamon sugar. The churro was perfect and was very scrumptious and it was perfect for a cold day:D
Funnel cake icecream sandwich-It had delicious funnel cake and vanilla icecream. The funnel cake was warm and sweet but it could have been more flavoursome but it went along with the icecream very well and was delicious overall:D
Overall I think Chocolateria San Churro is a perfect place to enjoy with friends or perfect place for you to go if you have a sweettooth:D
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus

Great dessert place that does these spanish fried doughnuts, we got the churros to share which came with 6 sticks and 2 sauces, we got the milk and dark chocolate. It was delicous but slightly over priced.

Best churros in town. They have a great team of staff with outstanding service. Would recommend to anyone with needing their chocolate and coffee fix.......

San Churro franchise is my favourite of all the popular franchises to get a hot chocolate. Their hot chocolates are so thick and rich. Really tastes indulgent. Not to mention you can get churros, which I think are expensive considering what it's made of and how much you get but nonetheless a delicious treat on occasion. This one at Chatswood has always been good in terms of quality but at times I've had to wait awhile when they are busy (which doesn't really bug me because it's pretty obvious when they are, so I know to expect a wait).

Went in to try some new menu items, got carries away and forgot photos. Got the salted caramel lava cake, strawberry funnel and filled churros. Were nice. Not as pretty as the menu photos but still good.

My favourite dessert place for sure. The Choc Banana Sundae is unbelievable as is the San Churros Sundae. Cake wise, Death by Chocolate and the San Churros Chocolate Cake are of a high standard. I've been to numerous outlets both interstate and locally, and must admit staff have always been friendly, enthusiastic and happy to answer any questions.

Years ago when I had my first churro in this country, they were as appealing as the hot jam donuts you would get at a fast food truck at the Sunday market. True, authentic and generous size products that were intended to be that way. As time progressed, everything has shrunk rediculously in this country from Mars Bars being the size of Milky Ways to Big Macs looking like Cheeseburgers, and the humble churro was not spared.

It seems like San Churro has jumped onto the product shrinkage game too. The churros have been compromised to the point its become a bad product. This is not the first time here and the past several occasions have seen inconsistent sizes and very hard churros. Although longer in size today, the churro itself was crunchy throughout and did not have a soft centre. The width was so small there was little chance of that. The classic cinnamon sugar was missing opting to go for a light icing sugar sprinkle instead.

The menu is extensive and appealing and there are many options beyond the churros. The hot chocolate was smooth and creamy and there were no complaints there besides the sweetness which was probably just me.

San Churro has a generation of sweet tooth clueless chocoholics to thank for their continued busines in Chatswood as there is a loyal following. I bet if any visiting Senorita came from their homeland to sample the churro here, they would be bitterly disappointed.

I have to say, I'm always very satisfied when I come here. I've never had any of the cakes, chocolates or ice cream, but have always stuck to the churros. As part of their loyalty program you get free double churros on your birthday! I just went there for my freebie churros, and ordered a dark hot chocolate with it. The guy on staff was very friendly, and the churros came out very quickly, and were warm and crunchy and delicious. The (milk) chocolate sauce was lovely too. This was the first time I ordered a dark chocolate hot chocolate, since I always go for the milk, but I was pleasantly surprised by this, as it wasn't too bitter at all, but still retained a nice creaminess, with a great, in-depth flavour. That the churros were free was an absolutely fantastic bonus! I actually couldn't finish it all, though I tried. Very filling and great value. You can also buy the crockery that they use there, which hardly any other cafés do. I bought an orange classic mug for $10, which I thought was a reasonable price. Oh and they have water there that you can fill up yourself.

The café is on the top floor of Westfield opposite the cinema. It's a good size, nice seating, and although you can hear the goings-on of the shopping centre, there is still an intimate atmosphere in San Churros. I only come here about once a year, but every time it's always a lovely experience, particularly in winter. The staff, food and service is all top- notch. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Pretty good place for churros and they're made fresh in front of you which is great! Very crunchy and love the chocolate dipping sauce! Not a fan of other stuff but stick to its name and you'll be fine!

Located near the cinemas, i have been here on a few occasions and it has been good. You tend to come here because you have been prior and understand that their hot chocolate is more the traditional type and more a thick style. Their churros are also good too! I do like getting their hazelnut hot chocolate but do not bother getting anything else sweet as you will not be able to finish it. Staff are friendly. Also a good assortment of presents ideas for those chocolate lovers. They also tend to have seasonal specials on. Because Easter is coming up they have a few Easter eggs already on sale

Got to claim my free ice cream here (part of joining their free el social club) and chose their choc peanut butter flavour with a choc nut wafer cone. I was actually expecting the ice cream to be served in a plain wafer cone so I was surprised when I was asked which flavoured/decorated one I wanted (choice of 100&1000s, shaved dark choc or peanut).

The ice cream itself was overly sweet and lacked a distinctive peanut butter taste, which was disappointing. Oh well, it was free.
Chris
The churros were good but I found the hot chocolate to be too sweet. So sickly sweet I could not finish it. There seemed to be a general sense of confusion with the staff delivering correct orders to the right tables/customers.
No Guilty Pleasures
If you crave for chocolate, just chocolate, but a bite will not satisfy you, then the Spanish Classic Hot Chocolate will give you enough fuzzies (even if it's sugar-free)! Simply indulging.

I went to this cafè several time, I really like ice-cream with churros.
But for hot chocolate, it a little bit sweet in my opinion.
The staff at this cafè quite friendly. It nice place to have afternoon tea as well.

This San Churro is located inside the Westfields which means there's free parking. The San Churro looks a bit fancier and more open like a cafe and they have seating inside the cafe and outside around 10-20 meters from the premises. Where ever you choose the seat, you can place your order and the staff are more than happy to bring your food or drinks out to you. As a family after dining at Din Tai Fung, we chose a churros for two to share amongst five people. Really just after something sweet not something too heavy. The churros came out piping hot and we had a choice of two dipping sauces. We also got some coffees and there was no real complaints all round. Great lil place to just chillax and pass your day and enjoy some churros. I like the vibe this place had as well… it felt less like a franchise and more like a cafe

After having travelled through Spain quite extensively, and eaten quite a lot there, being able to eat churros back home was a nice reminder. This chain is popular - but eating churros and dipping them in molten chocolate first of course, is always a pleasure!

Great for when you need that chocolate fix. The churros are lovely, but I personally prefer their sundaes! The brownie one is absolutely to die for! Decor is cute and hipster and it's quite cosy. Service is decent, the location however is a little strange since its on a random corner in Westfield. But the food more than makes up for it!

No complaints as when I want chocolate this fills the need😄. The furniture is looking worn and tired and there is not enough staff keeping the eating area clean.

I was recommended this place for the best churros and so I ordered a chocolate & churros tapas and a cappuccino. Honestly, the churros were not out of this world (considering they are famous for them), they tasted decent. Although other elements on the platter were interesting but again nothing extra ordinary. Although the melted chocolate deep fried chocolate truffles were quite delicious. Crispy texture on the outside and an interesting surprise of soft melted chocolate inside at just the right temperature was something I really enjoyed. The cappuccino was well made too with just the right amount of bitterness and sweetness.

What was I thinking?. The slowest, most terrible service ever. Tried once- wasted so much time waiting in a short queue i was about to miss my movie- had to leave. Tied again- same story- had to repeat simple order 5 times, as did woman in front of me. Staff have no clue. And a lig wait for greasy, overpriced tasteless sticks with gelatinous "caramel" sauce. Dont bother.
Bad Table Manners
The chocolate was heavenly. With the churros, it was all I could taste, which rendered the churros rather redundant. The churros I had in Spain had a light youtiao flavour.

Last weekend, while shopping in Chatswood, we spotted Chocolateria San Churro and decided that we should pop in for a snack. Churros are also known as Spanish doughnuts that are long and lean, with ridges on the surface. These deep-fried pastries are made from light flour and water batter and have a crispy, golden appearance with a wonderful aroma. A common breakfast food in Spain, it has evolved around the world and become a popular snack at any time of the day.

Needing a quick sugar fix to get over the Wednesday hump day syndrome, I met up with some friends at San Churros Chatswood, which is tucked away towards the top of Westfield (same level as Hoyts and Kam Fook ). Although I still prefer the thicker chocolate dips at Max Brennar, the thinner chocolate at San Churros goes perfectly with the freshly deep fried churros. The service was also very prompt, with the desserts delivered to our table within a few minutes. Churros for one Strawberries and choc dip Chocolateria San Churro 1 Anderson St, Shop 609 Westfield Chatswood NSW 2067 02 9412 2276 Open 7 days

Extremely rich. I confess that for a long time I have been drawn to San Churros. Maybe its the location, considering I pass through Chatswood daily and the store is designed expertly so that innocent passer-byers are well-placed to see the luscious goods inside and be lured in.
Anyway, finally, with my best mate in toe, I succumbed and ventured inside.
The store is small, but on a Wednesday afternoon there were plenty of seats. We had great trouble choosing, but finally our combined choices were:

Churros for two with milk chocolate dip (we had to try the famous churros!) $14.95
Death by Chocolate cake (it just looked so good!) $8.95
Dulce de leche shake (couldn't resist Argentinian caramel) $8.50

Verdict:

I have heard that the churros at San Churros are the best- all I can say is if that is the case, then I am not a fan of churros. It wasn't that our churros tasted bad- its just that they didn't taste better than regular donuts in my opinion. For me I felt that there wasn't enough dough, and the increased surface area meant that there was a lot of crunch but not much flavour, even with the choc dip. Definitely, this is a personal preference - I have heard great things about churros from others, and I don't think the ones we were presented with were badly done, I just think churros in general aren't to my taste.

The choc mud cake was so very very rich. I use the word 'very' multiple times for emphasis- I very rarely come across a dish that strikes me as very rich because to be frank the richer and more indulgent the better! But this cake had so much ganache that I had to leave some on the plate! Having said that, it was absolutely delicious and I would be eager to order it again. The cake slice was huge (perhaps that was why I couldn't finish it), and I think it was good value for money. All up, I would highly recommend, although only for true chocolate lovers!

My biggest disappointment came from the drink- I wouldn't really call it a shake, it seemed a lot more like a Gloria Jeans chiller to me as it didn't taste very creamy or milky and I couldn't taste caramel at all. It was also extremely expensive at $8.50 considering that it was served in an average-sized glass. If you want a milkshake, don't order this drink. If you want a chiller, go to Gloria Jeans and pay much less for more.

Overall:

Go if you love rich indulgent cake, and like your donuts very very crispy.
Don't if you like your donuts fluffy and your milkshakes creamy, or are on a tight budget.

Edit:

Returned for the choc cake, but even with a scoop of ice cream, I found it sadly dry. I also tried the oreo cheesecake and found it very nice. The lemon meringue pie was a bit different (the filling was not a lemon curd, it was a lemon something which still tasted good) but pleasant.
