The food is the best and the customer service is exceptional. I will be coming back and would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Loved our entre of chicken skewers and salt and pepper calamari. Mains of beef rendang and sambal prawns. Too yummy.
We tried this restaurant for the first time today and it was excellent. The food was amazing and every dish was bursting with flavour. We will definitely be back.
Amazing service and lovely food, can't wait to go again!
Been here with twice, once for lunch with sister and close friend and other time with friends for dinner.
The food was really awesome, ambience was good.
Me and my friend tried the combination laksa.
It was filled with every type of meat imaginable and two types of noodle which was a surprise.
The soup tasted like it was all freshly made and had the perfect amount of chilli.
I would definitely recommend this place as it was as authentic as could be.
So much food! For a $39 Cudo voucher, so much food! That was my main takeaway from eating at Ipoh Club such that when I sat down to write this review, I had to force myself to look at the big picture outside of the value of the voucher (for the record, I had enough takeaway left for two solo meals afterwards…)
The service at Ipoh Club was great. I have a minor peanut allergy and as soon as I mentioned that, they wheeled out the manager who was able to inform me exactly which dishes were 100% peanut free and which dishes had potential traces of peanuts (which with the minor nature of my allergy, I may have been able to eat at my own risk). Not many authentic Asian restaurants deal this well with people with dietary requirements.
The food was decent. Not the most amazing Malaysian food I’ve ever had (see my review on Penang Hawker in Campsie for example) but really decent. For the entrees, we had the fried chicken wings and chicken satay sticks (though I couldn’t try the satay sauce as I could smell the peanuts coming from the satay sauce!). The wings were pretty darn good, crunchy on the outside and well flavoured with salt, pepper, chilli, five spices and spring onions. The chicken skewers for the satay was moist and tasty even by itself without the sauce. My partner assured me that the sauce was just as tasty though as he cleaned it up.

Ordered 4 dishes to share between 4 people. They served the food very quickly, and the portions were reasonable. Really liked the Hainanese chicken rice and all the dishes were flavoured nicely. The singaporean rice noodle tasted a little bland, but overall very satisfied.
Tucked away within Chatswood RSL, Ipoh boast delicious and authentic Malaysian food. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt! After ordering our dishes, the food was served almost immediately without any compromise on quality! No Malaysian / Singaporean dinner spread is complete without the Singapore chilli crab! This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem waiting to be explored! Ps if you sign up as a member and spend over $50 you receive a free bottle of wine to dine in!
Always delicious. Great price. Large serving sizes. Quick service and food to table. Worth visiting especially if you like Malaysian food and/or chilli crab
Whilst a Malaysian restaurant inside an RSL seemed strange, the food here is really a highlight. The Kam Heong and Singapore Chilli Crabs, as well as the favourites like Char Kway Teow and Hainan Chicken Rice. The menu here is wider than the Ipoh Town branches in the city, with a lot more seafood options as well. For dessert, the chendol here is my favourite in Sydney.
Malaysians are generally very opinionated when it comes to restaurants, but this is the first where there has been something to please all my friends. Uncle Jimmy Chong (the owner) has really impressed!
Not a bad place for quick Malaysian meal. The food is not the best but it is authentic and the menu covers most of the classics such as chicken rice, nasi lemak, roti, mee goreng etc. As far as ambience goes, it is not a place to take your partner on a date.
Went to Ipoh club without any expectations . And loved the food ! Best ROTI CANAI in Sydney ! We had it with curry chicken and potato ... very delicious ! We also had Singapore style fried noodles with prawn, so authentic and delicious ! Last on the menu was schezuan prawns .. which weren't spicy but alright . The service was great , very kind and attentive wait staff . There isn't much of an ambience unfortunately , It's all about the food here I reckon ! I honestly feel this place deserves a score of 5! But we received our schezuan prawns at the end of the meal when we had finished eating everything ! They remembered about the prawns when they thought we were done with our food . So she went to get our order then . It's an honest mistake during a busy afternoon service I suppose. So we just took it as a take away . But Thumbs Up to the food ! So good ! I will return !
Can be hit and miss depends on dishes. The hainan chicken rice is good and roti. Kam heong squid is ok too. Ice kacang is a generous serve. My grip is the way the tables are laid out which makes it difficult to share dishes which is common for Asians eating
Many mates from Asian background families have mentioned to me about this restaurant for the past year or so. I had never got in until recently, not having too many expectations. I have tried their related business Ipoh on York in the Sydney CBD. Located within an upstairs setting of the small Chatswood RSL, the place is brightly lit and welcoming, echoing of a Yum Cha place rather than a Malaysian Chinese street food joint.
Service is quick and attentive. Andrew and I sampled three more bland dishes, I wanted to test how they balanced flavour, texture and use of ingredients. The Wat Tan Hor Fun (or smooth eggy stir fried flat ride noodles) was above average, with the wok heat showing in the final outcome. Hainan chicken rice cuts had combinations of chicken breast, those on the bone and those with skin, as dictated in the traditional recipe. The accompanying sauce was authentic. I forgot to ask Andrew how his prawn and meat dumpling noodle soup went...
Authentic Malaysian food - the CKT noodles are good, sambal barramundi was also a winner, and the fried eggplant. I would not get the chicken again though as it was a little dry and flavourless. Service was great - friendly and fast. A good family friendly place to dine
One of the best Malaysian restaurants on the north shore. The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is hidden upstairs the Chatswood rsl so it may be a little difficult to find.
The venue is clean and spacious.
Great taste and value! Ipoh club is a family favourite for Malaysian cuisine. For my last visit, I came here with six friends and one of my friends has a chatswood rsl membership so we received 10% off the bill. It ended up being $99 for 6 dishes, 3 bowls of hainan ginger rice and complimentary soup. We thought it was very good value for what we ordered. The kam heong squid was my personal favourite, squid was soft and the seasoning was very tasty. The beef rendang was also really good and had a lovely coconut flavour in it which made it a favourite around the table. I also highly recommend the salt and pepper eggplant, which has a light salt and pepper batter and didn't kill the eggplant when fried up! Overall very happy and will be back!
Located inside Chatswood RSL. The Ipoh Club has a bistro style ambience and has great space for big groups and communal dining. The Menu is vast with all the malaysian classics and the food is great. I highly recommend the family seafood platter - Its massive and also the Hainan Chicken... So silky and soft.
I had the singapore chilli crab which was fantastic! The crab was grade A and our table mopped up all the delicious sauce with the Man tao buns. Also had the sambal giant king prawns which were like mini lobsters. I had not expected to find such great food in a RSL club. You need to sign in to the club or join up for $5.50 but you get a free drink and a $5 Ipoh voucher so it more than pays for itself. Members also get free parking which is awesome particularly in Chatswood. Really tasty food, family friendly environment and good value.
Swung by Chatswood for dinner here and would definitely be back again. Tried the Singapore chilli crab which tasted very nice. The hainan chicken was also very well flavored and cooked
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
+4
Sir and M'Lady Dine Out is a restaurant, travel, bar and food journey across Australia and the world. Come with our group as we eat, drink, holiday and cook our way through life. Friday, 16 October 2015. IPOH CLUB - CHATSWOOD, SYDNEY. Chatswood RSL Level 1. 446 Victoria Ave. Chatswood, Sydney. We were here with a group and this worked so well so that we could try more delicious dishes and even have dishes we had not eaten before.
Authentic Malaysian cuisine. They recently changed their menu so the main hawker dishes are only served at lunch, not dinner. For dinner there was still hainanese chicken rice, satay and sizzling plate beef (yum!) Get the RSL membership to get 10% off your meal.
Authentic Malaysian food! You know it is authentic when they can understand your need for cut chilly and sambal ( no additional charge for it ) Yummy and reasonably priced in a clean and pleasant environment in the Chatswood RSL club. The nasi lemak and chicken rice here is nice. For their chicken rice - theres a choice of either poached and roasted chicken, plus you can opt between chicken breast or leg. It is Served with mashed ginger paste and garlic chilly sauce just like how its done in Malaysia . Clean Toilets are an additional bonus :)
After recommended by another friend to try this place, these are the dishes we ordered. Love their beef rendang! so tender and yet not over spicy. Hor Fun with the wok hei complex smoky, singed flavor on the rice noodle. The salt and pepper squid is yummy too! The price is reasonable not pricey. You will receive 10% discount if you are Chatswood RSL member. Hope this help and enjoy. :D
Curry chicken is good and the ice kacang is the best so far we had in Sydney. Tofu is ok but satay is so-so. The ginger rice ie chicken rice type is nice too. Overall, food is quite good. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Didn’t expect to get this huge portion. The roasted chicken was great! The only downside to my meal is the chicken was not properly cut. Perhaps try sharpening your blade? Will come back for more.
