Review Do Dee Paidang Chatswood - Chatswood

I have had countless meals and tried countless dishes on the menu here, and there was not a single dish that wasn’t good. Food quality was always amazing and consistent, and also cheap compared to the many other Thai places I’ve been to in Sydney. Such a gem and I’ll always come back!

Been here a few times and ordered takeaway from here many times as well during lockdown. Very delicious and affordable Thai food. Their tom yum noodles are one of their most popular dishes and you can choose different toppings and spicy level to go with it. Last time I dined in we ordered a Pad Thai soft shell crab, it was a big portion, the crab was fried beautifully, incredibly crunchy and flavoursome. We also ordered a pla rind print (crispy whole barramundi with chilli and tamarind sauce), the skin was very crispy and the meat inside was so tender. The pineapple fried rice was also very good, we ate it so fast I forgot to take a photo of it so the one pictured is half finished, whoops. And for dessert we had a mango sticky rice pudding, this was incredible, the rice was nice and warm, not overly sticky or chewy, the mango was so fresh and the coconut milk was very creamy. Very nice spot for an affordable and hearty Thai meal.

Good food, good taste. Really nice food. All the taste on the food amazing. I know you guys always busy especially on the lunch time, but I just give a suggestion for the staff, might be please be more friendly :) But the food all was good.

A real gem in Chatswood. Filled with so many types of cuisines and food options this is one to try! Great flavours, decent prices and food comes out quickly!

Poor food quality. Average service. The pork in our pad see ew was not cooked - we told the staff and they brought us a new plate. The second time we went, there was a hair in our roti. When we told the staff they immediately got on the defensive and denied it was a hair until I persisted that there was more than one. They then gave us a new roti. The roti is like a wrap bread, not fluffy with layers like others I’ve had elsewhere The pineapple fried rice doesn’t come served in a pineapple, as advertised on the menu. On the oily side. The only plus is the location being in Westfield and it being marginally better than it’s competitor khao pla next door

We ordered a hotplate seafood and crispy pork phad thai. Totally awesome!!! As we love spicy food, the hotplate seafood hit the spot! Crispy pork are crispy and flavourful. Waitress are friendly and cheerful. Definite will return for more thai food. 👍🏼

My friend and I ordered spicy fried rice and glass noodles pad thai, food was lovely and very flavoursome. One of the better Thai restaurants I have had in Sydney for sure Edit: second visit and the food was still very nice. However I will advise against getting take away, my partner and I ordered two dishes each and there were very noticeable differences in serving size when it was takeaway. You get a lot less
Sandra C
Good value, tasty Thai food. The Tom Yum is not what you would expect (missing hot and sour) but still tasty. Get the jumbo size unless you want 1/2 normal serving.

Absolutely Atrocious! We have tried Do Dee at Bondi Junction before, and decided to try the new location at Chatswood. My wife attended during the opening few days and was involved in one of the marketing / prize giveaway promotions and received a voucher for a Free Dessert, so we figured it would be a good choice for a relaxed lunch. We had to wait in line with another 10-15 people before being seated in the tiny outdoor kiosk, the main restaurant was blocked off / not available for seating. We were seated after a 15 minute wait (which is okay), at a small 4-chair table, we sat in opposite chairs near the wall and set about ordering our lunch. We asked about using our "Voucher" for dessert and were told by the staff it was only available "Saturday"... at no time during the promotional prize give-away did they mention that the voucher would only be available on 1 day a week... and the voucher itself only stated expiry in late December, nothing about restricted usage. Whilst waiting for our order to arrive another staff member approached our table and asked my wife to remove her handbag from one of the extra chairs at the table, at which point they seated a random single diner at our table - no request, no explanation. The tables aren't big enough to comfortably sit separated groups of people, friends and family sure, as long as you don't mind sharing personal space / elbow room. Whilst the other diner waited for staff to come take their orders, our food started to arrive and was placed directly in front of the other person, who then had to pass everything along to us. I was in the mood for a relaxed lunch with my wife, and didn't feel like "meeting and greeting", especially without requesting or being asked. It was an invasion of privacy and person space and left both of us feeling very awkward and uncomfortable, unable to discuss anything. The additional diner was also upset as she was made to wait > 20 minutes for staff to realise she was ready to order, and another 20-25 minutes for her food to arrive. The most annoying part was that 5-10 minutes after having another diner seated at our table, another 3-4 tables became free, and there was no one else in the waiting queue, the staff never bothered to offer anyone a chance to change / move seats. Really poor service. The food was nothing special. No chilli / sugar / fish sauce on the table. Also the Quail's egg wrapped in Egg-Pastry, which they place 3 per skewer, was pushed together so hard the egg-pastry was uncooked on the inside edges. The table was still wet from a previous cleaning, and serving sizes are quite small for the price. A moderate size bowl is apparently "Jumbo". A waste of time / money, don't bother!

I went for lunch here with my friend yesterday and have to say the customer service in this place is non-existent. I understand this place is newly opened but you need to train your staff for good customer service. after we had been seated, we had to ask for menu because waitress ignored us. no water provided to us, I had to self serve since it's nearby and not sure if they will give it to us. my friend's meal arrived but my meal still not arrived for good 30 minutes. Lucky I asked the waitress because she served my meal to another customers who just arrived for few minutes and not even ordered yet!!! no apologies given, she only gave me the food which has been sitting on that customers table and left immediately. this gotta be the rudest and disgusting service I ever encountered in my life dining in Australia ever. I have been visiting Do Dee Pai Dang in Haymarket and Bondi Junction many times. no issues there, no matter how busy that places can be. only this branch in Chatswood is the worst. I will definitely never coming back here again. and I hope this review doesn't get deleted by owner.

The food was super tasty and came out super quick The portion size was a bit on the small side wait staff very attentive would recommend for a quick and easy feed not super cheap but reasonably priced

Very disappointed with the food and service. Portion and presentation not up to the mark. Management is not well trained. Waited for 20 mins when the take away was already ready and the staff had no idea about where it was kept.

I came to DoDee last night with a group of girls for one of my friend birthday. We had such a fantastic experience! The cocktail were also delicious 100% The best noodle in the town ,good service, good place. I love it We really appreciated being looked after so well.

They actually deserve 0 out of 5 but there isn’t such an option. The food is average. Mini size. What they call jumbo size is actually kids size. We waited in queue for a long time and end up getting a two people table for 2 adults plus one baby and we were asked to leave stroller outside. Then I was told there was no highchair left and was asked to have a 14 mths old baby to sit on the couch with us. And the couch isn’t that safe the baby can fall off the couch any minute. They I asked to change to a bigger table they told me there was no table available. At the same time 4 people came in to sit down in table. Not sure what it means by no table available. We ordered no. 6 noodles jumbo size and when the waitress brought the noodles she said it was no. 3. Then we went to confirm with a staff if they brought wrong dish. She said she would check and turned around to serve someone else like I never mentioned anything. I had to remind her again then she remembered what we asked. The two main dishes came 15 minutes apart too. They don’t remove empty dishes till you leave the table. When you sit in a small table and have more than two plates you have to figure out where to keep your empty dishes, maybe on your lap. In summary average food no proper service at all. Super small table. Good luck if you still decide to try, but I don’t suggest it as it ruins your stomach and your mood

I went there this evening with my bf. we both have noodles soup. It taste like was in Thailand. So really authentic Thai . We really love noodles soup and I ordered dessert “sweet sticky rice w/ mangoes “ I can die for.. / we will b back for sure.

The noodle soup is so good. The best noodle soup in Chatswood. I recommend this.

i think their staff gave then 5 stars cause this restaurant isnt worth 1 star.

Friendly service. Affordable prices. Generous amount of servings. The staff are really lovely and food doesn't take long to cook. Will definitely come back. The busy ambience and shop fit out makes you really feel like you are in Thailand :)

The portion is very small, not worth for money.

Absolutely delicious and authentic Thai street noodles! I honestly thought I’d never be able to taste this unless I actually re-visited Thailand but Dodee came to the rescue! Absolutely loved it and the size is perfect (especially since it’s street food sized). For the whingers complaining that the portions are small, they obviously have not tried actual street food in Thailand...if you really want an overfilling massive bowl of noodles, don’t go to a place specialised for STREET FOOD to eat!
Sarah Sugimoto
A bit disappointed with the servings of the Tom Yum which seemed much smaller than the city! Impressed with the chilli level however.
Ann
Amazing food. All the dishes were served quick and were delicious. The portions are good, we shared between four people. We also brought dessert which was definitely the highlight. The coconut ice cream with sticky rice and fried bread with pandan custard was incredible. We finished those so quickly. The dining area is a bit small but we still had a wonderful time.
Amber
There were mosquitoes/bugs in the lettuce leaves and parsley. Food was decent before making this unfortunate discovery

Was able to try out their buffet and it was worth the price. Most esp. The crying tiger beef and salt and pepper squid! Serving time was also not that bad considering the number of the buffet customers that they were attending to. Orders were freshly cooked.
Joy Of Eating Out
Good value lunch menu. The spice level demands respect. I love a good tongue tingle and runny nose when eating spicy food so this place is great for me. If you’ve people in your party who can’t handle spicy food, ask the waitstaff for advice before ordering. For example, the pork skewers themselves were not spicy but the sauce that came with had a good burn (too much for my dining companion who swore his head off for 5 minutes), and that’s not disclosed in the menu.
Made Like Mum's
Absolutely delicious Thai Noodles at Chatswood Chase. Seating is either inside or outside in a kind of outdoor glass tent. I had the Do Dee Tom Yum with Fresh Thin Rice Noodles (spicy level: Monster) and Wonton Soup. And a cheeky little Moo Ping each to get us started. Really great Thai

All-YOU-CAN-EAT THAI for $26.90!!! 🇹🇭🍽 If you want unlimited drinks (thai milk tea, pandan juice, etc) it’ll be an extra $5 which I think is such a great option considering we had like 3 Thai milk teas each LOL so good 😻🍹 We ordered so much and let’s just say it’s such great value for the price! 💸 We ordered soft shell crab, satay chicken skewers, moo ping (pork skewers), basil chilli crispy pork, pad thai, massaman curry, dodee tender ribs noodle soup, bbq pork neck, crying tiger, fried bread with pandan custard, and durian sticky rice 😍 This was for 4 of us and we struggled LOL 😅
.
My favourite dishes would definitely be the soft shell crab, chilli basil crispy pork and the pad Thai 🤩 The crab was soo crispy and light and the pork had soo much flavour and that crackling pork was amazing 🤪 The pad Thai seriously reminded me of Michelin Star @thipsamaipadthai in Bangkok!!! 🌟🤤 Everything else was amazing as well, cooked so well and top quality, not your average shitty buffet! 😜 The only dish I didn’t enjoy was the dodee tender ribs noodle soup, it just wasn’t for me. A staff member recommended it so I had high hopes 😂😭 It honestly tasted like fish sauce and lemon soup 😕
.
However, I’m soo excited to go back and try all the other dishes, definitely going to become a regular here 🤗 I’m usually really picky with my Thai because some restaurants just don’t seem authentic, but @dodeechatswood is one of the best Thai’s I’ve ever had 💯 Worth the 50min drive 😂😭💪
The Engineer Eats
Had their popular Doo Dee noodle soup, monster level 1. I like how you can order a small or large bowl so you can try other dishes on the menu. I had a small and ordered the crispy school prawns with sweet chili sauce. Yummy! Especially since I was craving for something crunchy
Miss_foodie_au
This place is ok - nothing great or special. They serve a selection of noodle and grilled dishes. Noodle soups come with lots of meat and vegetarian toppings. Service is super quick. Everything is really tasty and the portion size is good value for a quick meal. There is a bit too much MSG and oil used in cooking their food for my taste.
Excuse Me Waiter
As far as cheap eats go, its hard to go past the Thai noodles at Do Dee Paidang which has a branch in Chatswood Westfield with both al fresco street-side dining and restaurant seating available for groups of all sizes. Dodee Paidang’s noodles are billed as the most popular tom yum noodles in Thailand and their extensive menu has a whole range of variations on these noodles – from the type of noodles, level of chilli and toppings/proteins. Our tip is to start off with the nursery level (no chilli) and work your way up the levels (which can get to Super Nova Level 7) rather than going in for Level 1 or 2 at the start as it can get pretty fiery even for the seasoned chilli eaters!

Thanks for the meal!

Ordeed DoDee noodles, fish and and the platter (see pictures)

Firstly the DoDee. Amazing noodles which were cooked perfectly adante. The level 7 spiced noodles is what gets the 5 star for me. Super spicy to the point of near unbearable but so much complexity in the porky flavour of the soup. The next day burning was worth it.... Other dishes were also on point with the fish being nicely moist on the inside with a nice crispy outer shell. The seafood platter was all fresh and the salad and accompanying fish sauces balanced everything together nicely.

Overall come for the level 7 DoDee. Leave with level 7 burning the next day.

I’ve been here quite a few times and most times they’ve gotten our order wrong which is slightly annoying...staff aren’t too attentive either
YARM
I’ve been to DoDee before for their cheap noodles (which are great value!!) and this time we decided to try their other menu items. We loved how tasty all of our dishes were, how speedy everything came and the wheel of fortune we got to spin afterwards for DoDee vouchers even if it had to be used within a week.

For dinner we had:
Sun Dried Pork - marinated dried pork, deep fried, served with dried chill sauce ($16.90)
Pad Thai with Crispy Pork- stir fried thin rice noodle with soft tofu, egg, bean sprouts, chives, peanuts, in pad thai sauce with chill powder on side ($17.90)
Fried Rice Pineapple with Prawn - fried rice with cashew nuts, pineapple, egg, soy sauce, curry powder, onion, served with cucumber and lemon ($20.90)

We enjoyed all our dishes, alongside some drinks including coconut water, thai milk tea and an Ovaltine volcano (YUM but beware because it’s super chocolate rich). The cheap eats menu is probably better value, but we still loved our food - would recommend the Sun Dried Pork and any crispy pork!

Been meaning to go to the Chinatown DoDee for ages, but is never in the mood for Thai when in the vicinity. The dinner menu prices are not particularly cheap for a brand that's well know for being great cheap eats. Not that it's breaking the bank expensive either, about average for a Thai restaurant. Got a Red Curry Duck & Crispy Pork with Chilli Basil to takeaway. Both were absolutely delicious. The Crispy Pork was definitely still crispy and moist, well sauced throughout, Chilli wasn't too overpowering, good mix of different greens. It's hard to get a bad red duck curry, and this one's good, lots of curry sauce & not too sweet, but an extra few pieces of duck & veggies is probably needed. Will return.

Latest branch of the little wonder in Haymarket.
Typically I love my soft boiled rice combination.
Wife like the noodles. Be warned, don’t be a hero and order too spicy. Smoke will come out your ears.

The salads are good too share. Just the preserved crab is an acquired taste!

Top: Ask for the crispy cracker bits seperate, so you don’t have to rush thru a soggy mess and can enjoy the crunchiness.

Really wanted to try this place. Ordered a large bowl of noodles with seafood. Very unsatisfying and disappointing in taste and serving size.

Not sure why the restaurant suddenly get lots of 5 reviews from new account. Seems fishy!
All i can say is the service is bad, so many staff but poor communication and unattentive.
Portion was ridiculously small, even the “JUMBO” size, i cant believe they charge $17 for the so called jumbo size.
Talk to the manager for the food portion, he said the restaurant just open so they still adjusting the size. Very unprofesional answer coming from the reataurant that have 3 branches.

I have been visiting this noodle franchise for over 10 years before they arrived AU. the noodle dishes are Thai authentic. You must try their specialty SPICY noodle. I highly recommend order spicy lv1 if you don’t like the heat from every bite. spicy level on the menu is pretty much amount of chilli flakes they put in your bowl.

After “hot&spicy” noodle, we ordered a coconut milk dessert with jelly to finish the meal.

Down side is they accept cash only regardless of how much you order. And you wouldn’t like the place if you prefer “mild” spicy level.

They're popular for their thai noodles. The soft shell crab papaya were really refreshing as well as their mouth watering pineapple fried rice. Enjoyed the food!

Opening hours 11am-10pm

Do Dee is famous by its spicy noodle soup. I ordered level 3 spicy and I was sweating like a hell. If you want to challenge spicy food, you can try it here. However their other Thai dishes are average.
Bella
Very expensive with few amount noodle. Bed service. Waited for long time for a bowl of noodle. Cash only. No one served me when I went into the restaurant. Will never try twice.
Pinicolada
Food is cheap and comes in large servings. The food came out quick even for a group. Lots of variety. My go to stall. Would be better if they have eftpos and split bill facilities.

This is a relatively new Thai place that opened up in Chatswood, and I’m glad that it’s cheaper than the other Thai places (or at least has cheaper filling options). Their $10 lunches are pretty good and the service is decent as well. I particularly like their moo ping skewers. Decent flavour and great value if you’re feeling like something other than the food court for lunch.
AmateurFoodie
Always great! The dry tom yum noodles is fantastic, for a change pick the egg noodles and I think it tastes just as good as Chinatown's outlet.
High Tea Queen
Ordered:
1. Fish ball noodle with Thai special noodle - when the noodles arrived, my first impression was the portion size is small (which is perfect for me who needs portion control but I don’t think this size will satisfy someone who is not on a diet), when I had the first bite, the flavours were amazing, something I have never tasted before, I will try the other noodles next time as this noodle was a little too sticky for my liking
2. Soft rib noodle jumbo size - jumbo size is your normal regular size, this one is too spicy for me
3. Coconut ice cream with sticky rice - the ice cream was nice but on the creamier side so not as refreshing, the sticky rice had a really weird taste, I didn’t like it at all.

Will I go back: yes, I want to try their amazing flavoured soup with all different types of noodles on offer
Those Who Love To Eat
If you love noodles, this places really rocks it the noodles department. They specialise in the Thai street style noodle soup and there's a menu dedicated to it.
To the food. The noodle soup was really flavoursome that came with side condiments but portion size is on the smaller side, even if you get the larger size. It is rather ironic that one should pay more for a larger size but the portions seemingly remain the same.
We were still hungry after the meal and decided to order one of their desserts which was average.
I'd still want to go back and try their fries banana and relive that Thai culinary adventure.
Food_Rampage_AM @INSTA
Hvg been to their cabra m chinatown outlets, i am keen to see if chatty’s joint measures up. We have seen many examples of inconsistencies when a brand expands.

Regular sized fishball noodle should be renamed small snack sized n the so called jumbo variety noodle the actual regular size. Do dee is touted as one of the cheapest thai eats. In that regard, it fails spectacularly as their jumbo size is priced between $14-22 while the regular snack size $7-9. Portion size is a far cry from cabra n chinatown as far as i rem. In line w misleading portion sizes, the broth (tom yum in this case) was similarly lacking in volume. Fortunately taste was on point if a little more watery than i rem. Still packed a punch though. If you disregard serving size n price, it is worthy of the name.
Vivian
Came here as I was staying in Chatswood and walked past “the best noodle dish “ sign . I ordered the jumbo bowl and it was probably the size of a regular but smaller . Soup flavour was not bad but not value for money
Howard Phung
Skewers Pork and Fish ball paired with two sauces is just amazing 4/5

Pork Ribs glazed with honey 3.5/5 , BBQ charcoal

Papaya Chilli Salad amazing 4/5, lovely refreshing flavors.

Cash Only, average service.
Foodlover
Only had the pad thai takeaway to try this place out. Unfortunately NOT the best noodle in sydney as the sign says. Dry, under-seasoned, the seafood chewy and not fresh. Very disappointed. If a thai noodle place cannot do a pad thai, it's a bit risky to go back and try other noodle dishes. Disappointing, hope the rest of the menu isn't reflected by this.
Elizabeth Lim
Tasty tasty soup, had the nursery noodle and pork rib noodle. Nursery noodle would be good for kids or people who can’t eat spicy food. Surprisingly generous with the toppings on both bowls, but the portion is so so so so small. Reflects the price - meaning it’s not super affordable, but if you wanted to order two bowls for variety (or one for a snack) that’s possible too, which is a plus. Really like the flavour of the soup + toppings.
Ned
Don't be fooled, this place is clearly not under the same management as Do Dee in Haymarket and Bondi. Taste is still good but do not get the jumbo, it is the same size as the regular! Watch for the pink and blue bowls as people eat, they are regular and jumbo sizes respectively.
Famishedduo
We LOVE Do Dee Paidang! This is our new favourite Thai restaurant. Not only do they serve delicious classic dishes on the menu they also have a separate “noodle soup menu” full with traditional noodle soups! They have a option for a small/jumbo bowl (order the jumbo) we couldn’t get enough of the dish “Tom Yum Noodle with tender ribs” we actually got thirds!!!! 3 bowls of jumbo!!!!!!
The service is fast, staff are friendly and plenty of seating in there outdoor/indoor sections.
This is a must try when in Chatswood.
If you a fan of spicy, I would suggest trying the Tom Yum Spicy noodle range off the noodle soup menu.
Eathealthy
We ordered for massaman and it was too sweet. We also tried their entree of the crispy shrimp and it was really good, yoi can eat the whole of it. I just didnt like the dip that xame with it. I used the massaman sauce instead.
Their dessert of the bread with pandan sauce was nothing compared to the city thai restaurant. Might give it another try in winter. Would be interesting to try their 'best noodle'
Kelly
Wooooo I Love Do Dee! So happy a Thai cheap eat has opened up on the North Shore. Food and service is same as the Chinatown branch, but the restaurant is actually really nice and open (sits where Tarboosh Grill used to in Westfield).
