Review Victoria Noodle Restaurant - Chatswood

Emily Brown
This place is fantastic! Amazing Japanese food done to perfection. I love how you order from the touch screen as it makes choosing your food much more exciting. A little hard to get to the restaurant but will always recommend it. They also serve half dishes so if u can’t decide between two dishes just get one half serve of each! The best of both worlds

Very good (and filling) Japanese-style food. We had a spicy Tantan Ramen and a Chicken Katsu Curry Udon. You order food on iPads at each table. The restaurant was rather quiet (7pm on a Wednesday) and there was strange circus-like music playing that grew on us!

Full size kaisen don. Price does not match the portion. The fish is only a handful compared to rice. For the price of 14.90, not worth. Half size pasta come with broccoli. But only 1 broccoli

So my partner and I chanced on this store in the corner of this odd mall in Chatswood. There were a few red flags indicating to me about it such as 150 items on a menu and a slightly dingy place with slightly dim lights. But we opted to give this place a try due to the multiple good reviews. I ordered this 'Butter Ika' while my partner got a buta shogayaki. Now the reason I left my order in quotation marks was because the resulting 'ika' I got looked like squid rings smothered in a soy sauce. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the sauce was teriyaki sauce and the dish was thrown together in the kitchen using frozen squid rings. This makes their menu picture of expecting a really nice squid quite misleading. Furthermore, the slightly mushy texture tells me it was likely not fresh. The buta (pork in Japanese) was overcooked and uses a pretty similar soy / teriyaki sauce to the Ika. There is some additional ginger flavours that do ring true to what shogayaki should be, so at least that kind of nails the dish, just that the pork was tough and dry. However, I think the butter Ika fell really far from its presentation on the menu. As a 'popular' item on the menu, I was not sure if those words were meant in a misleading way. It did not help that reviews of the place gave it a pretty good expectation, and we came in at a relatively relaxed time, being the second pair of customers in the store during our visit. Understandably the cost of the food is relatively cheap and I should adjust my expectations. And I certainly was not expecting a smorgasbord of squid since that would be absurd. But I think that if there are places where food costs below 15 AUD and still satisfies basic criteria such as being cooked properly and with some attention to detail, I may have been kinder in my review. I suppose the caveat here is that it is inexpensive food that can fill you if you want something that is relatively Japanese in nature. I would not likely come here again though.

No nonsense japanese. Too pricey for the quality though (inflation meant +$1 per menu item). The katsudon is a hard dish to get wrong, but somehow they did. Takoyaki and pork katsu curry were fair. Don't order a set since this automatically means +$2 to your bill.

I am in hospital and need to be on a slightly modified diet. I ordered delivery and requested for the chicken to please be cut up really small. I didn't expect this to be fulfilled but it was, and so perfectly. It was better food than I have received this stay in hospital. Thank you so much for providing tasty, nutritious food and listening to your customers. I will have to come in person next time.

This is a nice little restaurant tucked away at the back of the ground floor. The food is great, at a reasonable price. You order by iPad and the food is served very quickly. The best thing about this place is the ambient music. If you're lucky you will hear some recognisable tunes played with the abomination that is the recorder. I've been a few times and will continue to come back. We like this place.

Such a great place to try out different variety of food. They have mixed Japanese and Western cuisine. All taste really good. They have half-size for most items, but great portions, so even better for those that are indecisive of what to get. Decent pricing as well.

Got take away and was told to wait 15 minutes. Have been here for over an hour. No one has told us whether the food has even been made. Absolutely disappointed as I used to really like this place. Will no longer be returning.

食過幾次,有叫過套餐同散叫餸,都幾好味,特別喜歡海鮮炒麵(炸麵底),菜膽雞有驚喜,送嘅甜品裡芒果布甸都幾懷舊;如果有煲仔飯就更好咯

Myself & cousin Alan Seeto frequently eat here as the service & food is great, thanks so much

Real authentic place tucked away in a corner of a run down mall. Has the largest menu that I have seen anywhere.

I have been a few times and tried a few different things but the eggplant with minced beef dish is the bomb, the only thing I order when I go there.

It is always packed and us reasonably priced with one waitress (Betty) being extremely helpful with menu choices.

My positive first impressions of this place were changed when I ordered the black pepper beef tongue and spaghetti. 16 dollars netted me three pieces of dirty and untrimmed tongue atop a bed of overcooked, bland noodles. The sight of the cow’s taste buds sickened me. What was salvageable of the meat was spongy and artificial tasting. I now understand the complaints of food poisoning from here. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

I've been to this place several times and I know it's probably not clean. However, this time (we went on 27/12/12) was ridiculous. I ordered the cart noodles with pork skin, pork blood jelly, curry fish balls and Choy sum. Firstly they gave me th wrong vegetables but what's worse...there's actually dirt on the inside. It's not even cleaned properly. I only noticed that after taking a few bite. The fish ball wasn't even hot...and the pork skin taste off. It's actually sour. This is the worse meals ever and I will never go there again. Honestly this is real hygiene hazard

Recommend by connoisseur Xihuahua 🐶 . We went there because first day metro train ride was free. Wow they were so packed! Disappointed by the fact they ran out of the cripspy chicken and did not tell us til quite late so our substitute dish came out late too. The beans are fresh and flavourful! I made an over priced offal pho and it was kinda lacking on toppings. The milk tea was light and tasty. Sustitude dish was a mini pot of braised sausage chicken mushroom and pig liver. I haven't had pig livers for 9 years! It brings back memories. Dish itself was ok and I suggested to the staff that the chicken cut was too chunky!

Overall a nice HK resto. Service mainly focused on efficiency but they still look overwhelmed.

I think Guorium🧪 will definitely love this Cantonese restaurant!! It’s a low-key small but busy dinner hidden somewhere in a remote depressed mall.

The portion is huuuge, dishes are flavourful! They even offer hot red tea consistently and free desserts for mains!

Wow! Quite budget meal and good service! I wondering one day I might go with Enyi again! You agree?
The noodle soup is very satisfying and tasty.
The food is tasty and costs me $15 the price is reasonable.
The food is fresh.i recommend the beef brisket and turnip.😋😋😋
It has great portion and I cannot finish it even though I am really hungry.
The service is good except for the elder lady at cashier.

One bad thing is that it out too much MSG and now makes me very thirsty😅😅😅

This HongKong style restaurant has at least 500 dishes in the menu... so many options! And it’s packed! There were 5 people waiting outside when we went to the restaurant (about 1.30pm)
I ordered wonton soup-the wontons are really big, with a lot of veggies, and the soup tasted like chicken soup. The restaurant is located underground near Chatswood chase. You would not be able to see the restaurant straight away as it’s hiding inside - you will need to walk pass Chinese grocery store and butchers first.

Yummy takeaway Chinese food! The mix veggies in garlic sauce was super garlicky which was perfect and they even had whole roasted garlic in there! The veg fried rice came with good amount of vegetables and was a BIGGG portion. ❤ It wasn't that cheap to be honest, but it was good Chinese food.

With almost 500 menu items, it's bamboozling. And then there are all the cart noodle options too. The soup was good, and the atmosphere was assuredly Kowloon

I came to your restaurant 2 days ago on 11th July for dinner with a friend, and we were your regular customers. We always come back because we loved your food! However, at 11th July Tuesday, we had the worst experience ever. We walked in around 6.00pm, the there were only three or four tables in the shop. A hongkong lady wearing grey suits served us, she was really bossy to us and talked to us very loudly and rudely. When I tried to tell her which dish I wanted, I told her the dish number written on the menu, and she sounds annoyed and let me tell her the name of the dish. After we ordering, we waited for a noodle soup for 30 minutes, and sweet and sour pork for 45 minutes. During the time of waiting, we asked the same lady again, why does it take so long, she picked up our order paper from the table and checked it, and then she bashed our order paper back on the table, she told us she will go back to check and it will come soon. But instead of walking back to the kitchen, she walked towards another table and started talking to other customers, and then she served new customers who just came into the shop. We had to ask another lady about our order. And we even walked in front after another 10 minutes wait, and asked about our orders. The lady in the grey suits said it's coming in 5 minutes. I think it's ridiculous that we had to wait for this long for 2 dishes especially we walked in before the store getting busy. And it's more ridiculous that the whole night we didn't hear a single SORRY. I hardly give a bad review to any restaurants, but this time I have to give a very honest but negative feedback! I know some hongkong restaurants don't care about customer service that much, because they are old brands in Sydney, the reputations of food can bring them back customers anyway. But I still believe what happened on us the other night was unacceptable!

Very well hidden away HK style cafe in the basement right at the back behind the fresh food stores. You really wouldn't know to look there unless you already know about them. Very busy for weekend lunch, but the staffs are super efficient & friendly! Got the barramundi congee & steam rice rolls with mixed sauces. Bit pricy for this type of food at $35, but the portions are very bid, and there were quite a bit of barramundi in good size sliced fillets. More importantly it taste great, particularly the steam rice rolls. Perfect for a cold & rainy day.

This place has a lot of choice, hundreds of different dishes! Good service and friendly atmosphere. But last time when we went there, it took us 30 mins to wait and I had a huge concern about their cleanliness.

5 stars for the service and variety of dishes in the menu! I could keep coming back to try out different dishes each time. Can't expect too much of a good atmosphere with tv sound in the background however it is spacious enough to properly enjoy a good meal. They have a lot of typical HK snacks and dishes, my favourite being the pineapple bun with Hong Kong style milk tea

Decent Hong Kong style cafe that has a wide range of dishes on the menu. Service is ok. You can order DIY noodles which allows you to pick 4 toppings and choice of noodles in soup for $15. The beef brisket and tendon were super melt in your mouth. There is also the option of buying seafood like mud crabs and then asking them to cook it for you. There is a clean and friendly vibe to the place.

There are several Hong Kong style restaurants in Chatswood, and Victoria Noodle is one of the best. The pork & preserved egg congee and Sampan congee may make you feel warmer through the cold weather.

•Came here out of a friend's recommendation for a quick lunch
•Service is quick and staff are reasonably attentive and polite
•I picked my own beef brisket, pigs blood, prawn dumplings and Bok Choy
•Relatively surprised it tasted good and full of Asian flavours, egg noodles cooked perfectly
•Definitely would come back to try other dishes

Talk about an extensive menu!!! This place pretty much serves everything...from rice dishes to noodles, baked spaghetti, borscht soup, there's just so much to choose from! But when I come here I get the noodles where I can pick my own toppings, you get to choose the type of noodles then 3 toppings and it's like $13 any more than 3 toppings you pay on top. There are like 8 or so choices of noodles let alone 4 columns of toppings to choose from such as curry fish balls, pig intestines, cheese sausage, chicken wings and a variety of vegetables too. I always spend forever just picking what toppings and chop and change because I want everything!

I went to the restaurant on a recommendation, and when I arrived I was already a bit turned off by the look of the place, and the menu…but I gave it a chance since it is obviously extremely popular. The menu covers a lot, from toast and spaghetti bolognaise to stir fries and duck. I went with stir fried mushrooms and greens with noodles, when the dish arrived it was underwhelming, and after eating some of the bland noodles, I found a bug in there. There was a moth larvae (a worm) in my noodles, and then upon further inspection, I found another. We had ordered Chinese greens, and when my partner was eating that, he found larvae in nearly every leaf. I understand that these things can happen, but for there to be so many larvae in a meal, it is completely unacceptable in a commercial restaurant, and I will be sure to never return.
The sweet and sour pork we had was tasty and good, but who knows how many bugs were in that!

Shop A8, 369 Victoria Ave Chatswood , NSW www.victoriarestaurant.com.au/ Used to be my favourite HK cafe, but after they changed the nice soft bread that accompanies the soup, not as good. But still a great place to good for a good cheap HK meal. Always crave for HK milk tea , and what I can say is special is that they have the traditional HK noodles , where you can choose what things you want with it like fishballs, veges, type of noodles, everything! Their menu has quite alot of variety. The restaurant is hard to find if you are unfamiliar with chataswood, as it is next to a supermarket, underground.

The curry is not so much liquid curry, more so gravy curry, as it is mixed in with white rice. Definitely a must try if you a fan of curries!

Want to feel like you’re in Hong Kong without the long plane ride? Just head down the stairs of Victoria Plaza, past the seafood and meat shop and tada! Tucked away in a little corner is Victoria Noodle Restaurant.

Victoria Noodle Restaurant is just like a Hong Kong coffee shop, only it's in Chatswood. Had we not been to Hong Kong we would think Victoria Noodle Restaurant is just dang strange: a Chinese restaurant that also serves borscht, luncheon meat sandwiches, toast with condensed milk, spaghetti, not to mention tea and coffee served in the same cup. But now we have been to Hong Kong we are smarty pants know-it-alls. Victoria Noodle Restaurant is just like a Hong Kong coffee shop only more spacious, not quite jam packed, and it's in Chatswood. It's the Chinese interpretation of western dishes that intrigues me. I didn't try any western dishes in a Hong Kong coffee shop on our recent trip, so this morning I seize the chance. I order the daily special from the board: borscht with bread roll and butter; choice of ox tongue with bacon and gravy, or pork chop with herb and cream sauce, served with rice or spaghetti; plus tea or coffee. All for $13. The borscht is a tomato soup with a chunks of be

Not available at many Hong Kong fusion-style cafés in Sydney, Victoria Noodle Restaurant offers a great selection of noodles and toppings as well as other menu items. Try their salt and chilli chicken wings with rice – hangover or no hangover – if you get a chance.
