Review San Ma Ru - Chatswood

Decent place. lots of side dishes. Fresh vegetables and meat. Will clme back to try their bbq next time. Their portion is huge which is good for big group but you should ask for half size if you have less than 3 people

This is a very nice Korean restaurant to come and relax to have dinner. When you enter you are greeted by a staff member at the door and they will ask how many people and then they will escort you to your table. At the table they will give you a menu so that you can choose to have a BBQ dinner and you can choose what you want from the menu ,whether it be Pork Belly or Marinated Beef. If you do not want to have a BBQ dinner you can have a normal meal if Soon Tofu Soup or Bibimbap or just a hot plate meal. Once you have ordered they will bring you up to 8 side dishes that you an try and if you like it can as k for more of a particular side dish. Try the seafood pancake as it is quite delicious or you can try the Kimchi pancake ,it's s bit different but also nice. If you have anything leftover can take it home but they charge for the containers $0.50. The staff here are friendly and will help you if they can . I would return to this restaurant as it is clean and if they are busy will try to find a table for you . We have been here on numerous occasions and have never disappointed and would recommend anyone to give it a try.

Probably my favorite Korean spot in Chatswood, very clean and overall quality of the restaurant is great. The kimchi and pork pancake is 10/10, This time we decided to try the sweet and spicy chicken, while it was good it wasn't spicy enough for our tastes, still great nonetheless. Will be back again for sure :)

Best Korean Restaurant in Chatswood? I think so. Dishes, noodles and rice are good, raw beef salad is excellent.

One of the freshest and best Korean food in Chatswood. Friendly efficient service. Clean and nice comfortable dinning environment.

Food was good. Service was courteous, but some staff had trouble understanding English.

A busy Korean lunch spot from Monday to Friday. My friend and I had the Chicken Katsu which was too sweet for both of us to finish eating. The atmosphere doesn't feel that great. Quite average dining experience.

Good Korean restaurant with nice complementary side dishes. We usually get their seafood pancake to share, which is yummy and has good texture. Nothing spectacular; just honest, home style Korean cooking.

Ordered the spicy pork bulgogi, served on a hot plate. They don’t go as crazy with the side dishes as myeongdong (across the road) but the portions were generous enough. Tasty! Been very happy with the Korean offerings in Chatswood to date.

Pretty decent food but it wasn't anything special. I got the bimbimbap but the place may be more known for the bbq since all the tables had one. I went with one person so we didn't feel like having bbq. They still gave us all the side dishes which I appreciated

We love the food but not the customer service here specially if you come with babies/kids. People without children won’t understand until they become parents. Please respect and be more understanding!!

I just can’t imagine how rude the lady was there (she always wears black t-shirt) She wasn’t happy at all when we came in and after we left she said “ Excuse me, are you gonna clean your mess?” We did clean our mess!! She did the same thing to our friends as well. I understand it’s a bit hard when you go out with babies/kids but I think you might loose your business if you do that to people who come here with kids!!
Little gem in Chatswood. If you are after good korean foods, this is the place to go to.

They have a good mix of different Korean foods so you won't be short of choices.

Haven't eaten Korean food in awhile so I came here at around 4 on a Saturday. Since I came in the late evening, there were barely any people (just me and a family) which I prefer :D.

The restaurant has a nice, quiet location isolated away from the busyness and crowds of people. The staff were very friendly and the service was generally quick.

I ordered the kimchi stew which had the perfect spiciness level for me personally. Spicy enough for me to feel it but not spicy enough for me to be downing water 👌. My spice tolerance is pretty average so I think most people will be able to enjoy it without dying haha. The stew overall tasted great and was very warming and filling.
The banchan selection paired well with the kimchi stew and were refreshing, and delicious as well. Overall, it was a really satisfying meal to help warm me up from the sudden chilly weather.

Would come again to try out their other dishes as I'm a huge fan of Korean food :DD.

Food was so good, we couldn’t finish everything. We were so hungry we swallowed the first thing that came to us and forgot about taking pictures sorryy 😊

Good free starter small dishes. Service not slow, food tasty and very Korean, atmosphere and location nice not too loud, not too crowded, price not bad. Good amount of food options.

2.5 stars
I’ve been here on a few occasions over the past 12 months.
Average banchan selection.
Soup dishes and seafood stews very disappointing. Ingredients lacking quality.

I ordered the seafood hot pot ($55 for 3 people) 60% were bean sprouts and they were quite stingy on the seafood with only a few tiny octopi, a few prawns and small portions of fish and crab. The only 3 mussels in the hot pot weren’t able to be opened.

My go to Korean restaurant in Chatswood. It's got very comfortable seating compared to the other Korean restaurants in Chatswood. They provide a generous amount of side dishes (most Chatswood Korean restaurants only give 1-3 side dishes). Their food quality is pretty good, although they do skimp on the ingredients for some dishes, especially seafood dishes.

For a few weeks before our visit to San Ma Ru, my girlfriend and I had been reading about Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Base Stew), well-known for its interesting array of ingredients and we decided this was reason enough to try Korean food again. Despite having many Korean dining restaurants in Chatswood, we decided upon San Ma Ru as they had some pretty decent ratings. Their version included ingredients like baked beans and sliced American cheese.

This is one of the best Korean restaurants that I have been to in Sydney. My friends and I shared 5 main meals, and all dishes tasted authentic and were reasonably priced. Great variety and selection of side dishes as well.

Solid and reasonably priced place for Korean food in the North Shore - been here a few times now and it has never missed the mark. Service is efficient if a little business-like. Try the pajeon, galbi jjim, sundubu, sole fish. Decent range of banchan too.

Really enjoyed this place, the hotpot was great, we chose the pork rib and kimchi and tried the seafood oancake which was filling. Theres also a lot of sides which is a huge plus

The price is also decent for chatswood, cheaper than most korean places in chatty, best value for money
