Review Kam Fook Shark's Fin Seafood Restaurant - Chatswood

What a disaster! Where do I start - the service is awful. The head waitress was incredibly rude and had no idea how to ensure patrons have a good time. We were after a table for 6 and they gave us a table for 5 jammed next to another. When we asked to move to another larger table we were rudely told No, sit here! She stood there and asked us for our order and when we asked for a menu she threw a plastic leaflet at us. We asked for a copy and got another stern No. The food was terrible. We asked for Beef and got the ligament - just fat. The dumplings were full of gristle and fat without much in the way of actual meat or vegetables. The only thing edible were the prawn dumplings - barely. You'd be better off going to the supermarket and buying a packet of frozen dumplings. You'd cook them better, they'd taste better, and you'd have no one standing over you the whole time making you feel uncomfortable. The best part of our meal there - leaving. Don't go, save your time. Plenty of better places to eat.

Though there are so many bad reviews, I still went there with friend today for the first time. I believe the communication might be the most outstanding issue for the restaurant with English speaking customers. But other than that, the service is good and food is not bad either. We were greeted warmly by every waitress and waiter. They explained in detail what they have in their cart. Refill the teapot is also free. I am happy with the experience anyway.

I love coming to this restaurant on a Sunday for brunch. The dim sum are always the best. It's always busy and the wait is long. I do recommend going with a group of friends to get in faster. Some things to try include the prawn dumplings, ham sui gok, chive and scallop dumplings, pork buns... just try everything you won't be disappointed.

I am a massive fan of yum cha, in particular of steamed dumplings. I was moderately disappointed though as the spinach and prawn dumpling was rather bland and lacking of the appropriate prawn to spinach ratio. The other dishes were "meh". I don't think i'll be back. The decore is nice though. Shame about the food. I don't think I'll be back. I've been twice now and have had the same reaction. I'd probably go elsewhere like the food court. You'll get more return on your investment. Price: About 25 per person

Today, I visited Kam Fook with my daughter to have yum char. Just before we started we were served with water as we requested for water and not tea. A waiter brought a little plate of chilli sauce and left it on our table. I did not ask for it and he did not mark it on the little piece of paper where we ordered for timsums. At the end when I finished I went to pay and they charged me $1.30 twice. I asked the reception why am I charged for $1.30 twice. She said that it was for the chilli sauce and because we had 2 people we were charged twice. I told her that I did not ask for the chilli sauce in the first place and was not told that it had to be charged and secondly, that I should be given 2 plates if I am charged twice. She said it it charged by per head and if there were 5 people I would be charged 5 times. I told her that it is a rip off and a bad way of making money. So make sure you don't take the chilli sauce and be charged like me and who knows you have been visiting the restaurant and charged for the chilli sauce which you were not aware that you have been paying. It is outrageous and totally ripping off. This is the last time I am visiting the restaurant.

We went there for Chinese new year dinner. We waited 1 hr for the first dish and it took another 3 hrs before the rest of the banquet came. Because they were so slow in cooking for everyone, they took one of our main dishes and gave it to the table next to us because they had been waiting for 1.5hrs with nothing to eat. The dishes came out cold and were fairly average.

The food was cold and terrible. This event was for elder people and food was terribly cold and tasteless since they didnt even heat up the food; the waiters/waitress did not even bother to allocate the dishes for them. I strongly recommond people from Chinese Australian Association not to choose this restaurant ever again. 端出来的菜跟饭都是冷的 吃起来像是昨天剩下来的剩菜剩饭 这样对老人太不尊敬了。
