Was skeptical about this place after a friend told me about how good they were as I’m very particular with my chicken rice... I was pleasantly surprised, probably top 3 best chicken rice in Sydney and the portions were good @ a reasonable price. Definitely will be back!

I've been going here for years. A nice cheap eat with dishes averaging around $13. Consistently delicious, and large portions. Really efficient service, the wait time isn't too long even when busy. 😍
Great cheap eat in Chatswood that's been around forever. There's really only 3 things to get here:
1. Hainan chicken, thigh piece is extremely moist and tender, breast is cheaper and a bigger portion. IMO, this is one of the best takes in Sydney, and their chicken rice is especially good. I think the condiments could do with some improvement but hard to fault the chicken or rice itself. Thigh piece used to run out very early but they recently started doing fresh chickens for dinner time as well.
2. Fried salmon head noodle soup, a little oily but great flavour on the fish. Noodle soup is decent too
3. Laksas, not the best but definitely up there. I'm not really a laksa fan but I've been around to most of the good places around and this one is definitely decent.
One of the quickest, cheapest places to get food in CW, have been coming here for years and has been consistently good.
My absolute favourite laksa in Sydney! They know my order by heart: vegetable laksa with no vegetables, only tofu. The soup is tasty, warms the tummy and its something I always crave
Really nice Asian style food. I was recommended the fried salmon head noodle soup, and it did not disappoint (but may be a bit out there for the more squeamish eaters). Solid delivery on other traditional dishes demonstrates why there is frequently a line for this place.

Quality food court food. Very nice salmon fish head and Hainanese chicken... chicken are fresh, must choose thigh. Since salmon is deep sea fish, no need to add so much source to cook, the taste itself is good enough.
Go for their hainanese chicken rice if you are visiting this place for the first time, always a favourite during lunch time. They're very quick in getting out the orders as well.
Probably the best outlet in the Mandarin Centre Foodcourt, it had stood the test of time & has been here for as long as i can remember it, and it is always busy. Best known for their Hainan Chicken Rice, and I was really craving it, but they sold out of the thigh cut (which is $1 extra), only breast meat was available, so I opted for their second best dish, the fried salmon head noodle soup. My friend ordered a combination laksa. They didn't tell us that the salmon head Soup was going to take ages (20mins), but the laksa was ready pretty quick, so my friend had almost finished her laksa when I got my food. However it was definitely worth waiting for, the fish was nicely fried, not oily, and the fresh of the fish was still soft & moist, almost slip off your tongue. The noodle soup was well balanced between the hot & sour. The laksa was authentic too with both style of noodles (hokkien & vermicelli). It had plenty of meat & fish balls etc. A good laksa.

Great hainanese chicken rice. Make sure you go for for the chicken thigh which is $1 more expensive but definitely worth it.

Love Love their Salmon Head Noodle Soup!! Their Chicken rice also taste nice, but whenever I craves for fish head noodle soup, I always come to this place :) You can choose the type of noodles ie. egg noodle, rice noodle or vermicelli or even swap the noodle with a bowl of steamed rice (for gluten free option). For $13, Can you imagine in a middle of gloomy and wet weather, we are sipping the hot soup, slurping the noodle, biting and snapping the perfect crunch of deliciously cooked salmond head? It's time for Action, people. Go and Try it yourself :)

East West has got the recipe right on so many levels. Their consistency is in delivering high quality food efficiently even when they are flat out is a testament to their work ethic and the systems they have in place in their kitchen. Every dish I have tried here is good and we are talking about an eatery in a foodcourt! East West is situated in the Mandarin Centre in Chatswood and is by far the busiest food outlet in the centre.
Their top selling dishes would have to be the Hainan Chicken Rice. Be warned, the chicken is served cold but this helps maintain the texture and flavour of the chicken so vital in this dish. It comes with spring onion oil, sweet chilli sauce and a clear chicken soup.The only discrepancy is the price they charge. The chicken thigh is $1 more than the breast as many Asians prefer the thigh. From a economic viewpoint this would seem fair as demand for the thigh far exceeds that of the breast but from a customer's viewpoint, it's unfair because chicken breast is a more expensive cut of meat. I once asked them about this and their justification was that they buy their chicken whole rather than separate thigh and breast pieces which does make sense if true.
Other great dishes include their Curry Laksa - rich and creamy; and their Fried Salmon Head Soup. The Salmon Head Soup is truly excellent. The fish head is deep fried but yet the meat retains its moisture. Most parts could be broken off to eat and they portion it very carefully, giving you extra pieces when the head is smaller. The soup noodle that comes with it is also very authentic. The fish is grilled and the pan is deglazed with rice wine, stock is added with pickled vegetables, tomato,ginger and spring onion added to given a hot and sour soup flavour. The dish is so popular that you could see Asian families come just to have this on weekends.
I have been here many times and on the day I chose to do a review, they served their rice and soup in a take away container haha!

One of the best combination Laksa dishes I have ever had, authentic Laksa soup taste, similar to those Laksas from Singapore and Malaysia. Must eat hot, high quality and highly recommended!
The Hainanese chicken rice is a must have here. It is a big call but I find it better than the ones in Singapore!
Adore this place. Food is fresh cooked and amazing, and made very fast. Portions are big and very reasonably priced. I have no Chinese background (except for a whole lot of food) so feel a little out of my depth with some dishes, though the local Chinese seem to love them given by how much I see them sell and consumed with passion... If you're a wimpy westerner like me, check out the Wonton Noodle Soup. I cannot get enough of it! Best Wonton I've tasted!
My favourite restaurant to have Hainan chicken rice, have the choice of leg or breast as well. They do sell out sometimes so best to get in early! Good portions and the staff are very friendly.
Very flavourful Combination Laksa! Tons of meats and full of a thick flavour. Ask for sambal on the side if you want a little more spice. You get a huge bowl too so bring your appetite!
The best hainan chicken I've had in Sydney. Unique and stands out from the rest. Moved to the North shore to be in delivery range of East West Gourmet.
