Review Mr Jin - Chatswood

Great place if you like Sichuan! Worth trying. Varying degrees of spiciness on dishes. Dishes are big so can order but more and take away for later too. Some of the dishes are great for a group of friends to just sit, nibble on and drink beer. Good place to spend a lazy weekend afternoon sitting at a table near the window and chatting.

After years of wondering, I finally tried this place out. Around 6pm on a week night, it was not busy. The entrance was somewhat dark but don't let that deter you. Ordered a fish dish, chicken and green beans. They were not as Sichuan peppery nor too spicy, so no need to get scared by the red sauce. We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was 😋. Definitely returning for more!

Delicious dishes! While most of the restaurants have increased price by 10-20% due to higher raw food costs, they tried their best to keep price unchanged while maintaining high food quality. I have been there so many times over last 5 years (or longer), food is always high standard. The restaurant is also kids-friendly, and they have private rooms too. If one day the restaurant owner has to increase dish price, I also understand, I know how hard to run a business, especially a restaurant and in Chatswood! I will keep supporting the business; If you are reading this review, and you decide to give a try, you will never be disappointed! They have so many yummy dishes to offer, all you want is revisiting the restaurant. I hope you enjoy their food as much as I do.

This restaurant is so underrated! Their Sichuan fried chicken was the best I have had in Sydney. The Sichuan wontons were delicious and tasted like they were homemade. And the Sichuan cold chicken noodle was enormous, and also delicious. In fact all the serving sizes were extra large, and amazing value. Would give 6 stars if possible.

The food here is exceptional, as a big fan of spice, this hit all the levels. I would 100% go back to this place. The only reason for not getting a 5 star rating is the service, it is very difficult to get any staff attention. Also we were never served or offered any water.

Have been here over the years and always enjoyed the high quality food and ambience. Service is polite and professional. Came here again last weekend and although 1/3 full, the time it took for the food to come out was dragging. I know it’s due to post covid staff shortages but please try better to employ more staff to keep your customers coming! 2 waiters were working and who knows how few were in the kitchen. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive. They couldn’t bring out a few bowls of rice we had ordered because they had run out of clean bowls lol.

Great food and beer selection and an excellent service staff.

We waiting over 1 hour for our food. We were a large group and we only received steam rice, tofu dish and tea within the first hour of waiting. When we got impatient from waiting, we asked them about our order. They insisted that the food was coming but all the tables that had arrived after us had already received their food. Eventually, we could not wait any longer. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30pm and left the restaurant at 8pm WITHOUT receiving our food. The manager took no responsibility and claimed that it was a “busy night” when the restaurant was not even full. Do NOT go here

Been twice, had chicken & beef dishes & both are very nice... Staff is also very friendly... definitely one of my favourite Chinese places in the Woo!

Very disappointing. The only nice dish were veggies. Duck was completely bland and dry, while spare ribs were warmed up in a microwave. Definitely not coming back. So many better places to eat in the area.

Mr Jin is a shrine to Chinese professional tennis player Li Na, and it is the first tennis restaurant that I've ever come across.

Great food, great value. The dishes are interesting, not just the standard chinese menu. Great chilli flavours. The servings are large and the service is good. The whole tennis thing is a bit strange, but not overly instrusive so not a problem. I've been twice and will be going again.

It's a really lovely place for families and friends!! Their dishes are so nice and pretty!! And the tastes are the best in chatswood!!! Go and try the sweet n sour chicken and the salt n pepper tofu!!!!!!!

I feel very confused because I have commented this restaurant before, but that commitment disappeared without any reason! This is my second time to recommend this restaurant. This is more like it. Oh wow, such an authentic place to eat, the flavours grab you. So many good Asian eateries in Chatswood tucked away everywhere, and this is a realy nice place, good value good service and great flavours

Surprisingly delicious!. The dishes are surprisingly delicious! The restaurant owner Mr Jin was really friendly and he told us all about the famous tennis player Li Na. I love the beef hot pot dish - just spicy enough!

Not bad Chinese food. A tennis theme restaurant, the most delicious food is the sliced beef in spicy hot pot and seafood and fried tofu hot pot, it was so good

A lovely place for none-MSG food n traditional Chinese cuisine. The seafood laksa was really tasty. We'll definitely come again to try their special combo.

I have come here twice. Their chicken and corn soup is bomb...so tender and filling and only $4.50for a huge serving. <br/>On the other hand, their honey chicken is dry and bland. <br/>Prices aren't too bad for it being a fancy looking restaurant right next to the station. Have had better Chinese before though.

Not for Lunch. Went to this restaurant today to grab some takeaway for lunch. Several people had recommended this place previously and I was keen to try it. I ordered from the lunch menu, wanting just 1 dish and rice. The meal cost me $15 and came with all sorts of additional items which were unordered and unwanted, including potato wedges and egg.<br/><br/>Whilst it might be great for a sit down meal with friends or families, for a takeaway lunch on the run, it's massively over-priced and won't survive in this spot when surrounded by loads of other Asian restaurants offering similar quality of food and value for money, but for half the price which is a shame. It was a very disappointing experience unfortunately.<br/><br/>Considerable thought to lunch menus and price may see them much busier at lunch time for both takeaway and eat-in crowds.

Absolutely delicious. If you like Chinese food, and you gonna love this restaurant. The sizzling beef are delicious. We ordered 3 dishes, all food were served within 15 minutes. Good Service and friendly staff.

Lovely place to eat with friends and family. Great location, just few steps from Chatswood station. Great food and service, we had a good time, will definitely go back again.

Lovely place, good quality, food is really yummy....

Grilled fish. This is one of my favourites. The fish was lightly grilled first, then slow cooked in an exotic spicy sauce with vegetable. Simply irresistible!

The laksa soup here is really beautiful!
