Review Nakhon Thai Restaurant - Chelsea Heights

We ordered from Nakhon Thai tonight, we took our food home and when we got home we received a phone call from the owner saying that they had accidentally forgotten to give us a fried rice, the owner had asked for our address and driven out to our home and handed our fried rice to us at the door. Brilliant service and great food! I’ll be making this my regular thai takeaway.

Nakhon Thai offers authentic Thai cuisine in a local neighbourhood setting. The food is fresh and consistently delicious topped Keith fast friendly service.

Been going here for 16 yrs as a local, by far my go to venue. But sadly after the last 12mths - 2yrs decline in service/quality have made the decision never to return! Will be sourcing my favourite takeaway elsewhere! Adios!!

One of the best fried rice/stir fried noodles we’ve ever had! We went back again for the 30% off Monday specials and tried the tom yum soup and curries. Soup was amazing but the curries were a bit weak, so will try again next time and ask for spicier curries 🙏🏼🙏🏼 highly recommended for all locals to try!

Take away ordered yesterday was terrible, nothing like the food from there previously The Pad Thai was just just a soggy mess of noodles and little else. The sweet curry was large chunks of tough meat, six bits of potato in a gravy Very disappointing and nothing like their usual food. Entree was ok but also soggy pastry

After placing a $150 order, which included 5x serves of vegetarian spring rolls, our order was delivered only to find out that the 5x serves of spring rolls had meat in them. We rang them straight away and asked politely to have the vegetarian spring rolls delivered. As this took a long time, some of our household who do eat meat, eat some of them. When the delivery guy turned up after about 30 minutes he rather rudely demanded all the meat once back!!! He said he would feed them to his staff. We were pretty taken back by this and when we told him there were a few left, he became pretty angry and did not want to handover the vegetarian once. We have always supported this restaurant but last nights experience left us pretty disappointed and we will never go back.

Amazing Thai restaurant! And best massaman curry I've ever tried. If you order the beef you get beautiful pieces of meat that melt in your mouth. Everything tasted incredible and they accommodated for no garlic and onion with no fuss at all! Also amazing value. Will definately come back !

We have been to Nakhon Thai many times over many years. We went for dinner with our family on Saturday night. We had quite an early booking and our meal was served promptly. It was the best meal we have had there! I believe there are two new chefs and the meal was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I would not hesitate to go back. Delightful staff, a fabulous meal and no waiting.

Had to go buy another meal elsewhere as my $16 prawn dish had only four prawns and the container was not even half full. Barely five spoons full. Chicken skewers have also gone to less than half the size. Called up and got a “sorry” that’s it. After going here for 15 years it’s very disappointing. Bring back Jan

Ownership changed hands last year, prior to this we had zero complaints. Wait staff in trackies and hoodies. Took three asks for our drinks. Out of 10 people, three liked theirs. The third got his main once everyone at the table had finished theirs.Will never go back. Now we know why it was so quiet on a Sunday night.

First time here and have to leave a review - fantastic authentic Thai food, wonderful service, beautiful people. Set to be regulars !!!

Basic Menue log order turned into a nightmare! Order was "On Its Way" never turned up. When I rang to sort it out the resturant person got agressive after admitting the food hadn't left the resturant. She refused to help with a refund, screamed over the phone and hung up. DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY. Cannot be trusted. Rated F for FAIL!

Its the place i will go when I miss Thai Food. REAL thai Food. Not some where give me Food still australian style Thai even after I tell them to make it really spicy! Thai spicy! Love their spicy basil fried rice.<br/>

Some of the best Thai food I have ever had. Sooooo much flavour. Even my kids who normally don't eat Thai ate everything! Will definitely be back again soon.

Nakhon Thai Restaurant is located in a small group of shops on Thames Promenade in Chelsea Heights. It’s a fairly basic set up inside but seems quite popular with the locals. <br/><br/>Thai is one of my favourite cuisines, especially for take away & when I realised this place was only a kilometre from my house, I had to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the food, admittedly I’ve only had take away but it’s become my regular local Thai takeaway. <br/><br/>The Pad Thai is delicious as is the Pad See Ew which are two of my favourite dishes. The spring rolls & vegetarian curry puffs are also full of flavour & really fresh. <br/><br/>The portion sizes (for takeaway) are generous & the prices are very reasonable. A great little local for me with consistently good food.

I rate this place for a off the main drag restaurant! when you look at the price and quality Nakhon Thai delivers on both. It's always busy and the locals seem to love it.

Love this place, I'm no Thai expert but this place is definitely value for money and always pumping. We generally get it for takeout and have always found the currys have a good flavour and the veggies and meat always fresh.

Ordered delivery from Nakhon Thai last night. There are so many good Thai places in this area, and this one competed with the rest but definitely not the best. Prompt service, fresh, great taste. Vegetable dish was average, too much bland tofu and Chinese cabbage. Would of preferred a better selection of vegetables. Tom yum soup was delicious, but I only got two tiny prawns in the prawn one which was disappointing. Satay was good, roti was fresh and crisp. The prices were reasonable too.

This place is great - best Thai food in our area. Also not too expensive which makes it a regular for us. My personal favourite is the duck red curry. Also big portions so great value 👍

This place has great food, however the service could be improved. I love their pad Thai, it rivals Brown Rice's. The decor and ambience also brings the rating down, but like I said the food is really good -and they deliver!

Tried most Thai restaurants around the area so thought we'd check this one out. We ordered the spring rolls, chicken in garlic/oyster/ginger sauce, chicken with cashews, Thai beef salad and steamed rice. <br/><br/>Spring rolls were OK, slightly soggy but that may have been due to the time waiting. Chicken in garlic and oyster sauce was nice and our two young boys loved it. Chicken with cashew nuts was also good and I like their way to describe different levels of spiciness. The only real let down was the steamed rice. It was very gluggy and sticky and I would probably end up ordering rice from another restaurant. <br/><br/>All in all a decent Thai restaurant that we'll go back to.

This place is our new favourite local Thai restaurant! With lots of good competition around (River Thai, Thai Rose, Riceberry, A day in BKK and Brown Rice) Nakhon really stands up with its flavoursome food! <br/><br/>The food flavours here take us back to Thailand with such strong authentic tastes and flavours. From simple dishes like a chicken pad Thai which is normally overpowered by bean shoots, Nakhon manage to still get a lot of flavour into the dish! Standout dishes included the garlic chicken stir fry, the Pad see ew noodles with its thick and rich sauce and soft noodles and also the Laab Gai mince salad which has a nice spicy bite to the dish. One of the downsides of the food was the appetisers which weren't amazing; the spring rolls are tiny, the curry puffs have barely any meat and the angel rolls are a little dry however they angel rolls did have a good amount of meat in them and tasted quite nice. <br/><br/>The other negative is the seating arrangements and space inside the venue. It was a full house for the night we dined in and it was a squishy affair, with lots of people bumping chairs and having to move out of the way so people could get to the exit. <br/>We decided that we would only do takeaway from the restaurant as the food was amazing but the venue was too small, loud and cramped.<br/><br/>Overall the food is the reason for this high rating, with so much competition around the local area, the food is the true highlight if you are after full flavour authentic Thai cuisine. <br/>

Been here so many times, food is great but the service is absolutely bad. Dining in the wait for food to come out is about 40minutes. Take away our food comes out ready but the staff don't even bother to call out our name they look at us but dont say anything. we continue to wait 10mins they finally call out our name and our order sat there for 10mins not only that they left out items from our order and didn't even replace worst service but good food.

Had a delivered Pad Mee but had absolutely NO prawns in it and which is why I had ordered it.<br/>Very disappointed even though food tasted terrific but very few bits of meat in it.<br/>Expect better.

Unbelievably good. Wow! What can I say this was the best this food service and atmosphere ever! Absolutely by far the freshest food I have ever had. Presentation beautiful. Staff were Devine and the restaurant spotless. ( even toilet a delight!) I will definitely be returning and recommend anyone who has not yet experienced Nakhon Thai to put it on their must visit list. Thank you Jan and your wonderful staff for a great night if food and service.

Best Thai Ever. The first tube here. The staff were wonderful the good was even better. The green tea ice cream was a real treat.

I know you were busy the other night, but 75 mins to get take away food after telling me 30-45 is unacceptable. Sorry, won't be returning.

Yum. Great thai food will return again but I have had better. Very fresh and vegetables are not overcooked. Only thing I can fault is the big lettuce leaf as garnish on dishes to take up room on plate which means you get less food.

Consistent food. I love going here. Best pad thai I have ever had. The staff are super friendly and nice. It's a small restaurant but it's cosy. I like everything about this restaurant. Their dessert is so good !

Not surprised this one rates so highly. It is consistently good and extremely well priced. I've been often and always found the service very good. In an area without a great deal of restaurants to choose from, we are lucky Ro have such a winner

Got take away and requested a time for pickup but obviously it had been sitting there for a whole before I got there at the time stated. Lacked taste and much prefer Thai Rose in Chelsea- will be much happier when they reopen next week.

Roberto. The food is nice but lacks that intense authentic Thai flavor. Thai tables restaurant in Bayswater (opposite the station ) is the restaurant to beat. This place is also too small. I get claustrophobic in there. Overall nice but would not recommend

Very nice and quick service although the chicken skewers were like old boots everything else was nice, still doesn't beat Thai rose!

Love love love. We have very limited pickings with regards to delivery and they are fabulous. The food is quick to come, the staff are so lovely and its great tasting. Couldn't recommend high enough!

Beautiful Thai food! Probably the best I've had in Melbourne. Only ever had take away so can't comment on service, but our order is usually ready in about 15 minutes. Only regret about this place is not trying it sooner!
