A DELICIOUS THAI EATERY IN CHELSEA
We came here on a Friday night at 7pm and the place was full that we were lucky to have a table without booking!
FOOD AND MENU
We ordered entrees (crispy chicken & roti with peanut sauce), chicken pad thai and yum moo yang. They were all delicious and couldn't fault the dishes. However, the place is more on the pricey side with the pad thai costing almost $22. They had a set banquet from $39 pp with a decent range of dishes.
VENUE & CUSTOMER SERVICE
Venue is definitely cosy, however despite a full room it didn't feel too overwhelming and noisy. The interiors felt like being at home with its decorations which is interesting and quirky.
Customer service from staff is friendly and efficient.
Our go to for home delivery. Food is fresh and has no msg. Very polite delivery driver, food delivered on time, fresh and hot
Little one loves the Satay chicken. Mum enjoys Pad Thai, and dad enjoys Cashew chicken

A Day in BKK is amazing. The food is wonderful, not too pricey, and the restaurant has an amazing atmosphere! Have eaten here quite a bit since I moved this way!
We had our honeymoon in Thailand back in 1986, love Thai food & their people. If you are in love with Thai food look no further than A Day in BKK, unpretentious food that is cooked with flavours to excite.
Being a Thai food fanatic, it’s great to know there is a wonderful little spot just moments around the corner from us! The quality of food here is exceptional, the only downfall is the pricing is a little steep. Hands down the best coconut rice I’ve ever had, we also ordered the tofu basi stir fry and the chicken green curry! All exceptional! It’s a lot nicer than your average Thai takeout, but you pay for what you get.
Very nicely prepared and flavoured Thai food. Menu prices on this website are outdated. Roti serving on the small side. Curry puffs, satay skewers and bags tasty without greasiness.
Price a little higher however quality is top notch.
This cosy little Thai Restuarant is always a winner, consistent good food and service with beautiful smiles 😊 love the classic Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Thai Green Chicken Curry (hot) and Beef Massaman.
Will always be back for more.
Food was authentically thai and was delicious. The restaurant was fairly small and cosy, which was great as its not too rowdy. It's not the cheapest thai place around but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended. Will be back again for sure.
Consistently excellent Pad Oyster and Coconut rice. Easy parking for pickup makes this our go to Thai option. Have only eaten in once and it was fine.
What a fantastic little place. Perfect place for a nice intimate dinner or with a small group. The food was amazing! I really cannot fault this place. I will be going back again and again:)
Excellent and traditional Thai yum yum 😊 We have eaten Thai at most of the restaurants in the area and this is our regular. Decor is average but the food makes up for it.

This store is one of the highest rated Thai restaurants in the area so we decided to check it out.
A cool feature is the walk-through back entrance that allows people to use the large car park behind the strip of shops.
The venue is very small and cosy therefore when it's full, it can be a little loud and feel a bit crowded.
The decor is Thai inspired with art work and designs.
The restaurant was very busy and it seemed like there was only two waitresses. This created a very long wait before we were able to order our food, over 30mins! It also took about 45mins for all the food to come out so we were very hungry by this point. The waitresses were very friendly but we just not able to cope with the amount of customers.
The food was amazing and I could see why they are rated so highly. we ordered curry puffs and satay skewers for the entree and Gai Sab (crispy chicken salad), beef masaaman curry, chicken panang curry and beef pad basil with steamed rice. All the dishes were cooked perfectly. Authentic Thai spices and flavours with a strong lime and coriander taste mixed with spicy chilli zest!
The venue is licensed and does serve alcohol but is also BYO which is handy.
This is a great little thai restaurant in our area that I would highly recommend, the only negative would be the venue being understaffed causing a very slow service.

Loved this tiny little gem in Chelsea. Lovely location and it's a small restaurant. Can get really full even on a weekday. Service is very friendly and quick: yummy food! But I guess I am used to getting slightly bigger portions for the stir fries and curries in other places, hence the mark down. Child friendly too!
It does give you a feel of real Thai food though (not fusion). Not my number one Thai for eat in but love to do takeaway. So easy and convenient a bit of a tradition.
Always great service and the food is authentic. I find other Thai restaurants in the area might have a little fusion but here is the real deal. No wonder it is constantly full. Will be back again and again. Take away service also available :)
Great Thai food and fast friendly efficient service. The mixed entree is a lovely start. All dishes are lovely .Good prices. You need to book as it is popular.
Best Kept Bayside Secret. A Day In BKK would have to be, without a shadow of a doubt, the very best Thai restaurant in Bayside Melbourne - possible the whole of Melbourne. Food is brilliant, service is great and the prices are extremely reasonable. I don't understand why people weren't queuing in the street.
Cannot fault a day in BKK. Have eaten here multiple times and every time has been faultless. Meals are always laden with lots of fresh vegetables and produce, the dining room is super cosy and the service is fantastic. Definitely a place that you will return to after trying.
Fresh, Tasty and Accommodating. Busy even on a Tuesday night, this little restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and the Thai iced tea was a real surprise - no Lipton bottles here! The best thing was that they were happy to accommodate my dietary requirements - always a relief.
Recommended. Great food, good service and mouthwatering roti.

Authentic - can't be beaten!. Never had a bad meal here. Delicious flavours with each dish. Highly recommend the Pad Satay Beef.

Best Thai in town. Have yet to have a bad meal at Day in BKK. Great service. Never had chicken and cashews cooked the way they do it, absolutely sublime. Don't forget to book ahead though because this place is often booked out.
Lovely friendly and good value. Popped in for a midweek meal, on an entertainment voucher.
Service was immediate, friendly, food fantastic, decent sized servings.
Much better than Brown Rice up the road which has gone downhill.

Authentic Thai. This Thai restaurant is the real deal. After trying so many disappointing Thai restaurants this one is authentic. I recommend the Tamarind Prawns and Green chicken curry.The manager is friendly and makes the entrees her self. Try the curry puffs and golden bags ..
Food was quick to come out and delicious. Decent size serves. Recommend the cocount rice and chicken cashew stir-fry. Will be back.
One of our Fav's. This is one of our local favourites, we eat here very often and is our go-to place for delicious food at a reasonable price. Chicken is all breast and the flavour is very pleasant. Renee’s usual is the thai red curry, if you like it a little spicier, then ask for extra heat, as it’s quite mild. Highly recommended.
Best Thai I have had in Melbourne (nothing beats Thai Patong in Newtown, Sydney) - this was great though - so fresh and the service was lovely. Very kind and sweet staff and comfortable decor. A lovely restaurant, thoroughly deserves its high rating (and the complimentary instant photo for the birthday boy was a fantastic touch)

Love this place. We have been going here for over 10 years. Before it was A Day in BKK it was Jai Dee Thai, our absolute favourite thai restaurant. When it changed hands we were skeptical about whether it would be any good and we can happily say that beautiful delicious well priced thai cuisine is what you can expect from this lovely restaurant.
This would have to be the best Thai that I have had outside Thailand. Fresh ingredients spicy if you ask and excellent service. True Thai. A must try.
Best Thai in the South East. A friend and I had dinner here a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the Beef Massaman and it was probably the best I've ever had. So delicious and tender, but the serving was a little on the small side. We also ordered possibly the best roti I've ever tasted. So light and flaky, obviously hand made and cooked in the restaurant. We used the Entertainment Voucher, so could not have been happier with the price. Great staff and very attentive. Cute, cosy restaurant near the beach in Mordialloc. Will be going back for sure!

Yummo!. I love this place! Tried it for the first time 6 months ago via the entertainment book as it's also local. Cute little place with delicious, fresh flavours and generally good service. The beef massaman is superb as is the chicken cashew - so light and crisp. Been back about 4-5 times and cannot go with our ordering the roti which is light and flaky mmmm....
Great food, can be slow. I love this place, great food and the owners are very sweet. Best curry puffs and satay sauce. Bookings are needed most nights and if you go on the weekend, expect a wait.....
Keeper. Luv it, luv it luv it. Can't wait to go back there again. One of the best Thai Restaurants - in fact I would say the best. Everything about this place is fantastic. The menu is extensive, ample servings, the roti bread is just beautiful. To end the meal I had Banana Pancakes, these are a must if you are going to dine there. Would highly recommend.
What a gorgeous little find. The atmosphere is delightful, the service fast & friendly & the food is delicious. The basil duck & satay chicken were very authentic and the banana pancake rounded the meal off nicely :)
Tasty but room for improvement. We had fish cakes (not bad but was a bit chewy and lacked some kafir lime or herbs) + money bags ( really nice, light pastry & fresh filling) + roast duck curry ( nice curry flavor but very little duck meat mainly skin) + larb gai tod ( was ok, but as it was in balls wasn't juicy and there was little dressing on the salad) + Ginger fish ( nice variety of veggies well cooked fish with a nice sauce - kind of a Chinese dish).
Probably would return to try a few other items on the menu e.g tamarind prawns, interesting salads, etc,
A little favorite. I have been to this little restaurant a few times. It has a pleasant atmosphere and the food usually good. It is on the way home from work so sometimes stop and grab a satay vegie to take away when not in the mood for cooking - and it is always yummy.
Update: One year on from this review (now Sep 2012) and this is still a little fav of mine. Although now my fav meal is beef and cashew. Its just Yum!

Great authentic tha food... finally. Had dinner there - was very impressed. we've been to thailand a number of times and love the food there - but found almost every australian thai restaurant (particularly more expensive ones) thinks that westerners expect their thai food to have loads of sugar (and of course serve different dishes). Anyhow - this restaurant didn't fall into that trap - and had a good authentic meal that tasted great too. only complaints were it was a little pricey (but had large serves to compensate) - and the mains were a touch cold.
Best Thai yet. So I have been to a few Thai restaurants in Melbourne - and this is the best so far. The flavours are authentic and fresh, service is excellent and the decor a little be fun - look out for the favoured rabbits all around. We were impressed by the Seafood, loved the delicately scented rice and enjoyed both a second serve of chicken and Tippy cake dessert. Best of all its in the Entertainment Book 25% off.
