Went exploring and found this Italian restaurant nearby and made a booking for Friday night. The restaurant itself is quite small, but it didn’t feel squishy at all when we sat down. The menu had the Italian staples and some specials, which is perfect for indecisive people like me. I ordered the fish and my partner ordered the cheese gnocchi. While the portions were quite small and pricey, the food was absolutely flavourful and cooked to perfection. The cheese and truffle gnocchi sauce was so addictive and the fish in the buerre blanc sauce was so tender. Will definitely come back as a local to try out their other dishes from time to time.
A hidden gem in Cheltenham. Food and service is always good. We started with the pate and then had scallop risotto and Amatariciana penne. Both delicious.

We went for a special occasion and had a delightful dinner. The service was superb the food was amazing. Great quality for the price. Mathew’s Daughter
I took some interstate work colleagues here tonight - pleasantly surprised. The main thing that blew me away was the service. The young lady that waited our table was very attentive and polite. The food was pretty good. We had the Bruschetta and Calamari for entree, and pasta for mains, with a lovely bottle of white wine. Served promptly and politely garnished with cracked pepper and freshly grated Parmesan. No doubt i will be back...found a gem of Italian restaurant here in Cheltenham. Bellisimo!!
Went here tonight and it was quite nice! The service was fantastic, very professional and attentive! I had gluten free pasta , which to he honest was quite disappointing as it tasted like one from a box. For $27 I would have expected the pasta to be made on sight same with the gluten free one or from a good supplier for gluten free alternatives. There are much better italian places in the area or near by which has better quality food and pricing. Overall, its not terrible and I would recommend if you wanted something easy, but you will be paying a lot for it.
I have been here about 8 times now and the food every time is absolutely amazing.
Fresh, authentic and incredible flavours. Every course is 10/10.
The staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is great and intimate.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. My hubby had the mussels and rated them as some of the best he has ever had. The Formaggio Quattro Gnocchi was out of this world. Nice wines to choose from as well.
I have been to Saltimbocca twice now for lunch and I have no idea why this restaurant is rated 3.7. It should be a 5 through and through.
Both times I had the soft shell crab for entree and pasta and chicken risotto for main this time. The restaurant seems to be run by Italians (including the waiters) and the food is exquisite and just delicious. Combined with a glass of Chianti and I feel like I'm in heaven. They have a comprehensive menu with many items I would love to try in the future.
What's even better for me is that they let me take away my leftovers as it lets me have a taste of their meal for dinner.
The service is impeccable. The gorgeous waitresses even open the door for you on the way out. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'll keep coming back for more. Well done Saltimbocca. One of the few restaurants that I've been to that deserve a 5 star for great food, excellent service and a relaxing ambience.
This place never disappoints. The food is delicious especially the pastas and risottos. It's slightly pricey but for the food it's worth it. The service is friendly too. One thing I wasn't keen on was that as the restaurant started filling up, the noise was so loud I was practically shouting at my friend as I couldn't hear myself. They need better sound proofing as it is quite uncomfortable to eat in that environment.
Quality. Steaks pastas seafood. We had a table for 6 - everyone enjoyed there mains entrees and deserts.
Good service
Very Italian
A little expensive but worth the price.
The pasta here is outstanding! We ordered the soft shell crab and pare for entree and devoured those. For mains we ordered the Marinara spaghetti and duck. The pasta was a generous portion and so mouth wateringly al dente and prepared with all the flavours splendidly mixed through. The duck was very tender and delicious as well. Good selection of reds too. And after such a memorable feast, there was no room for dessert, so we'll just have to come back and I can't wait!
Lovely decor that's very cosy and intimate and such an attentive floor crew too which resonated the Italian hospitality and warmth.
Great atmosphere and lovely service... and the food is devine! Very popular so booking in advanced is advised.
A wonderful place for date night or a group of friends to enjoy food and catch up.
A great place to have a good italian pasta, we had the pumkin/ricotta ravioli and the beef ravioli. Both of them really good choices. The place could be a bit noisy at times as it is really small.
Went with a group of 4, everyone ordered pastas and was very satisfied with their meals. The service here is fantastic and the food is so wonderful, full of flavour and generously served. Atmosphere is really nice too, with nice dimmed lighting and beautiful decor. Would recommend for a cute date night.
Great Italian spot, very popular so need to book, take away portions good size, asked for a change and they were very obliging. Only. Only negative, a little small inside.
A favourite date night restaurant, have been numerous times and will continue. Staff service is excellent, very cosy atmosphere, and the food is phenomenal.
On the coldest night in Melbourne we came in from the freezer & it was lovely & warm & cosy. Even though it was busy the carpet muted much of the surrounding chatter. We started with a traditional bruschetta which was light & delicious. For main I had the veal scaloppine which came with proscuitto sitting on top of a delicious mound of mash potato and some leafy greens were also found hidden in there. The roast duck and vegetables were also very good. The passionfruit pavlova was enormous but light and tangy and the pistaccio ice cream was also quite good. The service was prompt and efficient and I would consider returning one day.
Absolutely delicious. The food came out quickly and tasted so good. The pasta sizing was perfext for me and also had a really yummy desert menu
We came here as a family for a belated birthday celebration. Great meal had by all and they still allow byo wine which is an added bonus. A bit on the pricey side for the suburbs but we really enjoyed the night.
Chose Saltimbocca based on the TA reviews so once again thank you reviewers!
Food - menu had a good selection to choose from so no one should go away disappointed (unless they expected pizza).
Everyone at our table enjoyed what they had - from arancini, bruschetta, cauliflower fritters(?) to saltimbocca, risotto pescatore and risotto with a duck ragu. Serves were generous, flavours good and well plated. Dolce were very tasty as well. Coffee was very good.
Service - professional and friendly.
Room - Nice room, tables were reasonably spaced so no one felt crowded. Room was edging towards noisy but acceptable - nice buzz.
Wine - we BYO'd wine but it looked like they had a reasonable list
Price - generally good value for your money. However $10 corkage per bottle of wine is a bit steep. $10 per table would be more reasonable.
In laws brought us for my belated birthday celebration. Ambience was warm, service friendly but professional and prompt, and food lovely. On the slightly pricey side but great for a special occasion. Starters of calamari on rocket was lovely, light, and crispy. Chicken pate was served up beautifully and tasty too. My duck main served with roast vegetables and balsamic reduction was on the slightly salty side but cooked to perfection. My plate was clean. Desserts were on point too, had a smooth white chocolate panacotta with berries. Would recommend this place to anyone!
Very very good - spaghetti marinara is delicious, panacotta to die for. Wife loves the chicken risotto. I've been one a week since October 2015 and will continue to. Friendly staff and Great food is all I need.
Food was very good, service was decent & the meals came out quickly.
Only negative was that the venue was very noisy(restaurant was full).
It quietened down once a few tables had cleared out.
Would definitely go back.
Spaghetti marinara was probably the favorite dish of the night.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant one of the best Italian restaurant they've been service is amazing past that is perfectly cooked the gnocchi perfect courses well cooked to perfection
Pricey, but reliable and high quality Italian.
My wife and I frequent Saltimbocca every 6 months or so, so have been here a handful of times. It's yet to disappoint. The food is good quality and authentic Italian which seems to be increasingly difficult to get in Melbourne. The food does not seem to be mass-produced, or too salty, but is instead natural, fresh and well prepared. Favourites are the Bruschetta, Porcini Mushroom Risotto and the Creme Brulee.
Service is attentive, but not fussy and the décor is simple but not overwrought (an unfortunate feature of some other modern restaurants which seem to be far too reality TV show inspired for comfort!).
Quite pricey, but we're glad to have a reliable, high quality modern Italian dining experience in Melbourne's Bayside region. We always look forward to eating here.
Good atmosphere, nicely set tables and generally good service. Modern Italian food was creatively presented, well cooked and had excellent flavours. Sourdough bread was brought to the table promptly to get us started. One of our party had barramundi which was perfectly cooked. My risotto with tiger prawns was very good. The prawns were juicy and fresh. We finished sharing a generous white chocolate panacotta and enjoying good coffees.
To my delight it is BYO wine with a reasonable $10 surcharge but also had an adequate selection of wines on their own list.
I'll definitely be back to work my way through the interesting menu.
Hidden gem on charmen rd... Best authentic Italian food you can get ( in the area). Prices are good and so is the service! The eggplant gnocci and the bolgenese were do die for!!
Classy little local Italian. First impressions count and my first glimpse of Saltimbocca was of fresh white tablecloths, sparkling glasses and subtle décor. Very attractive indeed assuring that such attention to detail would carry over to the food. I was not disappointed. Service was spot on, waiter asking if we would like an ice bucket for our BYO white wine. Nice one, as other places thumb their noses at BYO-ers. These people have style. The menu included the usual pastas and risottos but all appeared to include an addition of more inspiring flavours. Shared entrees were pleasing especially a great little cauliflower dish. The pork was a little overcooked and dry but came with exquisite accompaniments and a lovely marsala sauce. I can't resist crème brulee and Saltimbocca's was of the decadent kind. Gorgeous. I would definitely return.
Omg the best pasta in town make sure you save some big room for dessert must try
We dined here on Saturday 28th March 2015. We arrived a little early and our table wasn't ready. This was rectified immediately. A table for two.
For entrees we ordered the Arancini and the calamari. The arancini with porcini mushrooms were delicious. The best I've ever had. Perfect.
The calamari was nice and tender.
For mains we had the Saltimbocca and the Roasted Duck Breast. Both meals were very well presented and full of flavour. A very enjoyable meal and the portion sizes were enough that we had no room for dessert. We finished with great coffee.
The staff were very attentive and professional.
My only negative point is the tables are very close together so you do feel like you are almost sharing a table.
All in all this was a wonderful meal and we will return but will request a different table when booking.
Flavoursome. Had a fantastic night with great service and flavoursome fresh food. It was so good that we returned with a different group of friends a couple of nights later. The service and food was just as good if not better. Thank you Massimo and team.
What a lovely restaurant! They accommodated us last minute and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Arancini were delicious, mains included saltimbocca and gnocchi with 4 cheeses, delicious! Desserts were lovely also. We go out a lot and this was traditional Italian, highly recommend!

Enjoyable meal, authentically Italian. Eight of us ladies went to Saltimbocca for dinner and had a lovely meal. I enjoyed the Gnocchi Melanzane (eggplant and tomato) which was very tasty and the gnocchi themselves just the right texture and softness. Coming from an Italian family and with a mother who cooks excellent gnocchi these were very good indeed. The rest of the party enjoyed their meals also. Bread was bought to the table before the meal which was a nice touch as was not charged for which was as it should be but not that common these days. Even though we were busy the service was good, attentive with a lovely Italian waiter and the ambience was quite nice with low lighting and white tablecloths. I do think they need to re think their art work though as it looked quite amateurish. Overall we had a very enjoyable meal and definitely a quality addition to the local dining scene.
Took friends for dinner last night and did not disappoint. The food and service was fantastic. Saltimbocca is my new favorite restaurant!
Our entire family (all living outside Cheltenham) have been going to Satimbocca since it opened.
The food is always excellent, the service is great and it's very reasonably priced. We are always made to feel welcome and always enjoy ourselves. This place is a suburban gem and has breathed life back into Cheltenham.
Well done! Highly recommended!
Consistent service, interesting menu. Saltimbocca is one of the better suburban restaurants: we've been here half a dozen times both as a couple and with friends, and have always had attentive service and attractive tasty food. It's reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
Fantastic ..... My partner and I went here for the first time last week , it will certainly not be our last . The food was fantastic , the service very attentive , a wonderful night out.
I must mention the " beer battered cauliflower starter " and the "roast duck breast " which is what I had ... Sublime , my partner had the "soft shell crab" and the "chicken risotto" , he thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well, no review on desserts as unfortunately there was no room left , but I was certainly tempted by the creme
brûlée , all you have to do is discreetly watch a diner as they take the first mouthful .... That says it all, I shall definitely be reserving some space on my return . Try this delightful place you will not be disappointed , but book as word is getting out and the place is getting busier by the minute.
Our meals were delicious and the service was very attentive. My meal of Saltimocca consisted of tender pieces of veal, which sat on top of spinach and the smoothest mashed potato. The Creme Brûlée was amazing, as were the other desserts that my family ordered. We'll definitely be returning.
A wonderful addition to Cheltenham! Have eaten there 3 times and had takeaway several times as well. Service and ambience very upmarket, but it's time we had somewhere good to go. Food is extremely nice, gnoochi amongst best ever, and wine a great compliment to the meal. Yes it can be a bit loud, but that is a result of being busy. As for family oriented ? Who wants screaming kids during a nice meal? Go across to Subway if you want that! Keep it going, guys. We love it!
My husband and I visited Saltimbocca for the first time on Saturday night and we were very impressed. The food was delicious and fresh and the service was impecable. A much needed addition to the area, will be back for sure.
Beautiful Italian restaurant great food and service the pasta is just right the best garlic bread that i have ever had will definitely come back
Real Italian i m falling in love for. Oh my god i have looking for areal italian food for loooooooong time finally i found one here

I wll go back for saltimbocca next week yummmmmmmm!!!!!!
The food and service is amazing, have not had pasta like this since I was in Rome. A bit pricey but worth the money.
Fantastic food, great service great addition to the area
Food was excellent, as was service, but by 7pm it had gotten so loud we had to leave because of a throbbing headache from the noise. Put some carpet in!

Magnifico!!!. The food is just excellent, every bite I had it was as a paradise. We were a family dinner, and I tried some of the plate, and it s just unbelievable. Chicken Rissotto, the steak 500g, Ossobuco that I haven t try before, Spaguett Gamberi, Calamari. All good and tasty. Make sure the booking, we were in wenesday, and the restaurant was full out.
Enjoyable dinner experience. Food was delicious and value for money (approx $20 for pasta).. Can highly recommend the gnocchi & ravioli. Service was efficient and food came in 20 minutes even though there was a large group on another table. The restaurant was a bit noisy, but still an enjoyable dinner out.
A welcome addition to the Cheltenham shops. The place had a nice feel to it and is well appointed. Waiters are attentive and well drilled at their trade. The entrees were very good. Bruschetta , garlic bread and fried cauliflower with Gorgonzola cheese were great. Bruschetta probably the pick. The fettuccine bolognaise was fairly plain though and needed something else - pasta cooked perfectly though. For dessert the tirimasu was quality and I'm not a big dessert fan. Overall they do a fine job and and a very easy place to settle in for a meal.
Authentic. Best risotto and gnocchi I've ever had. Enough said.
Great addition to the area. Friends were raving about it so thought we'd give it a try ..... and we weren't disappointed! Best Italian meal we've had for some time and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back again.
Beautiful food, some of the best in Bayside. Good service and reasonably priced. A real asset to the suburb...... However, the noise was deafening. Tiled floor meant that we couldn't even hear the waiter, let alone the other side of our table. Please put some carpet down!!
