Out of around 30 Indian restaurants I've tried in Melbourne, this is my favourite.
Great service. It's nice to hear "welcome back" even though it's been quite some time. My wife and I visited when they had just opened - even then everything was spot on.
Great ambience. Comfy seats in a contemporary stylish interior (even the toilet is well maintained). We like the mood lighting and the high back built in couches along the walls.
Great variety. There are many dishes you don't find at other restaurants and everything we order is just better. You pay a few dollars more per dish compared to an average Indian Restaurant but what you get is so much more.
For me there are 3 basic types of Indian Restaurant - cheap eats with great value quick food and a low price, middle of the road restaurants (which is most of them) and then fine dining which is a much smaller group of the very best. Indian Burrp is my pick for the best of the fine dining options in Melbourne.
The food is bursting with flavour and in every way exceptional. There is nothing here you can fault - across the board in every aspect, this is a great experience. If you're celebrating an occasion, or you're just looking for some fine dining, this is the place!
Without doubt the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Friendly service. Will be back.
Absolutely amazing food and amazing staff. I will 100 percent be back at this restaurant.
Anyone who wants good authentic Indian food this place couldn't be more spot on.
Great food and great service! Best butter chicken and garlic roti. Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
We have frequented most of the Indian Restaurants in S.E. Melbourne as well as all over UK and this food is the best we have had for years. The Beef Vindaloo was superb, you could taste every spice without the raw heat of powdered chilli. My husbands Beef Madras was entirely different to the Vindaloo which is not always the case. Thoroughly enjoyed and we will be back. Parking can be a problem out front but there is parking at rear. Decor is beautiful and service excellent.
The best indian i have had..loved the food the service is amaizing
Quality Indian food. Tasty, spicy when requested and good sized portions. Great friendly staff also.
Highly recommended. Definitely in best 2 curries I've found in Melbourne!
Great food, atmosphere and staff and management , very friendly .
Thank you to the chef(s) and staff at Indian Burrp. My husband and I had a lovely meal last night for my birthday. The food was a delight, atmosphere friendly and service was fantastic. We'll definitely be back.
5 Stars for Outstanding Customer Service, Great Food and an AMAZING overall experience! Recently had my birthday dinner at Indian Burrp during the week. Booked online night before and stated I wanted a romantic dinner for 2, received a lovely response, due to circumstances i rang and changed my booking time multiple times and they were very accomodating, arrived and greeted by name which made me feel special, had a lovely reserved table and was really looked after. The owners and staff were friendly and provided fantastic customer service. The food was traditional style Indian and delicious, even took home a "doggy bag". Well priced and such a great experience. I highly recommend this establishment for a lovely night out.
Amazing food excellent service beautiful decor I never had Indian food like that in my whole life, highly recommend zaburdust Rash banker
Excellent food excellent service can honestly say it's better than any I've had in the UK

Loved the food i will definitely come back with my friends...absolutely gorgeous staff and welcoming!
Vegan Delights! We all had a great time, staff were very friendly & all willing to help with Vegan Options that were really tasty.
Thanks Very Much!
Can't speak more highly of the team at Indian Burrp! Can't get enough of those samosas, they are too good! Great service and great food.
This Indian Restaurant is without a doubt the bench mark for all Indian Restaurants in Melbourne. Each dish is incredibly different & the flavours are to die for. Have never experienced anything this good in Australia. We eat here regularly & love it.
My favorite Indian Place - this Indian restaurant really is a must visit if you live in the southeastern suburbs. The curry is to die for. Spicy and delicious!
There are SO many options on the menu here, it's unbelievable! Went for the classic Butter Chicken though and loved every mouthful. The smashed samosa was really interesting too.
I think this is the BEST INDIAN in MELBOURNE. No joke, from the moment you walk into Indian Burrp you are welcomed with an extremely friendly host. Entrees were a delight, mains were delicious and dessert mmmmmmmm dessert. 10/10 for me, my go-to Indian from now on.
Great service and food!!! Highly recommend
A lovely meal highlighting the true flavours of Indian food. I loved the mix of spices (not necessarily hot) and flavour combinations. Pre and Post ISO, Indian Burrp is the best place for Indian Food in Cheltenham!
We ordered the mint chicken, meat samosa, rice, and a few vegan dishes and all were superb! The quality is really good and I cannot wait to go back in the near future.
If you are looking for the best Indian in Cheltenham, Indian Burrp is your go to. Not only is every dish scrumptious, they also offer over 23 vegan dishes and have plenty of gluten free options too. Very friendly and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend.
Very delicious food with the chicken korma being my favourite dish. The manager is very friendly and you can tell how much his business means to him as his customer service is first class.
I really enjoyed my experience at Indian Burrp. A feast for a Queen you might say! Everything was wonderful and I couldn't recommend highly enough!
Ordered a korma and these potato dumplings for dinner, they were so delicious! Love their vegetarian menu and so many options (makes it hard to choose everything sounds so good). Plus 10% off for picking up takeaway how good!
Amazing modern Indian food out on the bayside near southland. Really enjoyed their interpretation of Indian food. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
A great family restaurant close to home. Love the authentic Indian flavours and value for money. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Indian food!
My husband and I came here for Valentines dinner and what a absolutely enjoyable experience. The venue is beautiful and the service was top notch.
There is so much to choose from on the menu but the classics like Butter Chicken and the naan were faultless. We will definitely be back to try more!
Came here with a friend. Nice venue and the service was top notch. Could fault the dining experience.
Fairly close to home, Indian Burrp is our go-to Indian restaurant. We absolutely love the food here, not too spicy for the Mrs, friendly staff and a good all-round vibe! Highly recommend!
My partner and I love Indian food and have stumbled across our new favourite Indian restaurant! Everything we ordered was delicious, but our favourites had to be the Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken and Melting Murgh (charcoal grilled chicken). We'll be back very soon!
Really tasty Indian food just off napean hwy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will be back again soon!
Very close to home so thought we'd check it out. Loved the flavours of all the dishes and half the menu was vegetarian which is hard to find! Great service too, will be back :)
The taste of the curries are fantastic and you get to choose how spicey you want most of them to be. You can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee... brilliant. The ambience and lighting is perfect for an evening meal. Simple yet refined.
The staff are lovely and attentive. The veggie samosas, garlic nann and lamb korma was delicious. We got butter chicken too but I found it was way too sweet and tasted like tomato relish, just left that meal but other than that yummy Indian. It is a bit on the pricy side but the meat and venue are nice.
We were really lucky we were able to get a table here for Mother's day as we had no booking. This restaurant was very accommodating and the service was good. We opted for the set menu at $37.50 a head we thought it was great value as it came with heaps of food. Some really good curries with a good amount of spice.
We usually do not visit indian restaurants however during Christmas break we were craving for spicy food & one our friends strongly recommended we visit 'Indian burrp' in Cheltenham. It was a 45 min drive, however our friend insisted it was well worth the drive!. We were lucky to get the booking for next day and upon arrival, we were quite impressed with the upmarket feeling at the restaurant (compared to other Indian restaurants).
We ordered the 'Pani puri' for starters, Prawn byriani for main & 'Chicken Hari mirch' (chef's recommended) with garlic naan bread to go with it. The service was prompt & dishes were right sized (some restaurants overload the plates with rice!) The 'Hari mirch' was particularly our favourite- it looked spicy with all the green chilli to our surprise the chef managed to get a perfect balane on spicyness & flavour!
The lovely owners of the restaurant later explained how ingredients are chosen carefully to maintain the delicate balance in flavour & freshness!
We finished off with the 'kulfi' - Indian ice cream, that had the right amount of sweetness in them.
Overall, highly recommended place. We're definitely going there again to try the other dishes..
Delicious food..!! All the dishes that we ordered were tasted really good. Starting from the starters Chicken tikka and Paneer tikka which tasted really good. Moving to the mains Dal Makhani and Paneer butter masala (which could have been a little less tangy though!) all the dishes tasted amazingly really tasty. Would definitely go again and would recommend.
I was delighted to accept an invitation to dine at Indian Burrp last week. I love Indian food and am always on a quest to find the worlds best butter chicken. This restaurant has been open around 2.5 years and had quite a fine dining atmosphere with the beautiful lighting feature that bathed the room in a warm glow and the elaborate gold menus.
I started with a mango lassi which was a thick blend of this yummy traditional beverage. Entrees included chicken tikka, tandoori prawns and the chilli paneer. The paneer wasn’t something I would generally go for but it was recommended as a bit of a twist on a classic and it was actually my dining companions stand out favourite of the three. It’s definitely good to try something different every now and then.
For mains we had the butter chicken (obviously) and the malai prawns. As these are both quite sweet dishes (because I LOVE sweet sauces) the waitress recommended saffron rice as an accompaniment rather then my beloved coconut which was definitely sound advice (more authentic too!) These paired beautifully with the garlic naan and the cheese naan which was generously stuffed with melted goodness. The prawns were cooked perfectly too. As for the sauces they were delicious and I even ordered a third naan (Kashmiri) to dip into the remainder.
We finished the meal with one of the best kulfi’s we’ve experienced. This dish can often be sickly and I believe many Indian restaurants buy their kulfi from a certain Dandenong manufacturer. Indian Burrp pride themselves on making their own and you can definitely taste the difference.
While this is on the other side of town for me it’s remarkably close to Southland Westfield so if I’m shopping up a storm nearby it’s definitely going to be the pick for my post shopping meal
This place serves the most complex Indian Food this side of the Imperial Hotel in New Delhi. Prepare yourself for Indian food which is like no other in Melbourne.
We are repeat devotees to this Bayside gem! Never left disappointed and find the host and waiting staff to be incredibly accommodating attentive to our needs.
Big favourites are - melting mirth masala, karai paneer, lamb saag & beef madras. Also loved the goat curry.
Long live Indian Burrp !
Good service and great samosas!! All the curries we had were great, levels of spiced as advertised.
Will certainly be back and make this my local curry house
Nice curries but a bit different from what I'm used to in Ireland/U.K. Not bad but different. The spicing has the depth and the flavour, for example the madras is totally not like one I've had before but it was good. Just a touch too creamy. The breads were nice. All in all I will give another go.
Vegan Delights! We all had a great time, staff were very friendly & all willing to help with Vegan Options that were really tasty.
Thanks Very Much!
Indian Burrp has delicious and authetic Indian food - most definitely worth the price. There are many vegetarian and vegan options which was fabulous. The service is also very genuine and kind. I'm not a person that often reviews but I really felt the need to express how great this place is !
Awesome food. Pepper and mint chicken is definitely worth it. A variety of vegetarian dishs. modern and clean. Exceptional service. Relaxed environment an great place to go if you want a quality time.
Very tasty food. Just the right amount of spice. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great Indian food and warm atmosphere... We will definitely be back again
Definitely some genuine Indian food. Delicious curries!! One of the only few Indian restaurants that cook great vegetarian Indian food in Melbourne. They do make JAIN as well!! Staff is really helpful and a decently good ambience as well! Go for it!!
Heard that Burrp was a great feed & it didn't disappoint---Kashmiri Beef, Pumpkin Marsala, Beautiful Meat Samosa & rice---awesome meal, friendly staff & groovy interior
Friendly & attentive staff. Ambience & decor modern & tasteful, unlike other Indian restaurants. Food is better & more authentic tasting than other Indian places, where everything tastes the same - with the same tomatoey sauce. Here every dish tastes unique. Our local go-to Indian from now on
A friend suggested this place and promised we'd like it. We were dubious, as we've had so many disappointing curries in Melbourne. The name and the location didn't fill me with confidence either.
It was ahhhh-mazing. The lighting, music, decor and staff are all so welcoming. The service was impeccable.
The menu is pretty extensive and I'll definitely recommend this place to my veggie mate.
The tandoori mushrooms, prawn jalfrezi and chilli naan were superb. I would have liked to try the goat vindaloo and lacha paratha, but my fellow diners were enjoying their food so much I didn't have the heart to ask!
I loved the way the owner was so confident and polite in his manner of recommending which various dishes matched each other. He is obviously very proud of his establishment, and so he should be!
This restaurant has beautiful decor, friendly owners, wonderful staff and fantastic food. The naan bread is fresh, fluffy and goes well with the creamy butter chicken. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for everyday dining and special occasions.
3rd time back to this restaurant never disappointed! The host remember us and introduce different dishes everytime. Love everything definitely will be back for more.
Great Indian food, pleasant restaurant. Best Indian restaurant in the bayside area. Service is friendly. Decor is clean and bright. Staff willing to modify orders when requested.
First time we've been here and the food (chicken korma and chicken tikka masala) was excellent, as was the service. Will definitely be back!
This is an excellent restaurant with great Indian food. Decor was great, service was excellent and food was delicious. All the dishes we ordered we enjoyed very much. What a lovely place - the white table cloths and napkins were of high quality and the glassware immaculately clean. Our orders were taken promptly and our meals arrived in quick time. The arrangement was very good. The staff was very supportive and helpful.we ordered our starters and main courses. The onion Bhaji were cooked and spiced beautifully. The veg samosa were also excellent and panner pakora was amazing. The mains arrived with a garlic naan and rice. Both were freshly cooked with nice succulent chicken. (Karahi and Rogan Josh) and were perfectly spiced and extremely tasty.Best desert (Mithai magic) we had in a restaurant any where in the world. This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne so far! Friendly staff, lovely environment and delicious food.

Quite often I get asked the question, ‘Can you suggest a good Indian restaurant we can dine at?’ or ‘What do you think about this new Indian restaurant that has opened in XYZ location?’ And I find it quite challenging to answer both of these questions because firstly, I do not eat out much at Indian restaurants and secondly, there are very few Indian cuisine restaurants that I actually enjoy in Melbourne.
I'd never tried Indian food before and I LOVE THIS PLACE! It has the BEST chicken madras and burpee style chicken.
The service is friendly and the decor is homely yet authentic.
A MUST TRY for anyone new to Indian cuisine or just up for some delicious food 👌🏼
This place does exquisite Indian food, was so impressed with the very helpful service and the dishes from entree to dessert were phenomenal. Being Half Indian myself and a food lover I was surprised with some dishes I have never heard of before, highly recommend!
Amazingly enthusiastic front of house staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The decor and ambiance was sophisticated. The food, and we have only had it as a takeaway, was delicious. We imagine when dining in the curries are even better.

We wanted to get away from the usual local fare and followed the excellent existing online reviews to the Indian Burrp. We were pleasantly surprised at the extent of the menu and the exceptional service.
The staff not only gave us their explanations of the various dishes but asked us"when" we were ready for our main course rather than just bring the food to our table when they were ready.
Can recommend the Samosas and the Rogan Josh 🙂
Definitely one we will go back to !!

This was our first time going to Indian Burrp and we were NOT disappointed!
The venue itself had a warm glow, an ambiance, that set the tone for everything else that was going to come.
We were lucky in that we arrived at 6pm so the rest of the restaurant was empty.
The staff were incredibly courteous, the food was AMAZING, and our particular waiter did a great job in making sure our eating experience was excellent (instead of having what we always had, he suggested we try something new and gave us great, yummy choices).
It's one thing to be in an empty restaurant and it's another to be delivered on time.
They were able to give us our meals with a very small waiting period which seemed to be in rhythm with when we were ready for those meals to arrive.
We highly recommend trying Indian Burrp for yourself.
I know that we will be coming back here many more times.
P.S. The only small criticism would be the Mango Lassi could have been colder and that their could have been a little bit more meat in the curries.
Otherwise everything was a taste delight.
Enjoy!
Ordered delivery from Indian burrp last night.... THE BEST customer service as well as THE BEST Indian I've had in Melbourne.
I hope this new bayside treasure will continue to provide amazing service and food...
We ordered beef vindaloo with medium spice, chicken masala, Dahl tadka, Tandoori mushrooms and saffron rice.... All were flawless.
Staff member over the phone went above and beyond to answer my gluten free queries.
Can't wait to order here soon.
Lovely new restaurant for Cheltenham area. Decor is modern and fresh but not pretentious and different for an Indian restaurant which adds to the great experience. Food was delicious and fresh. Staff were very friendly and lovely to our son.
Some of the best Indian I've ever had. Special fish and garlic naan were excellent. Great service and beautifully fitted out. Highly recommended.
We've been to Indian Burrp numerous times and have never been disappointed. From the wonderful warm greeting at the door to exceptional food and service, Indian Burrp is a treasure to behold. We can't recommend the restaurant highly enough.
Indian Burrp is one of those rare suburban rare finds that makes you ecstatic that you stumbled onto it. The food is incredible, very flavourful and just the right amount of spices, sauces and oils. Rash and his partner Sarah serve both the traditional dishes and new ones which definitely do not disappoint. The decor is beautiful - gold lanterns, ornate patters on the wall and comfortable leather chairs. The service is also amazing with the owners paying attention to every detail and service requirements. If you're looking for the best Indian food in Melbourne, this is probably the place.
Got take away from here and thoroughly enjoyed what we had - butter chicken, lamb biryani and beef rogan josh. Better quality than Cinnamon Club two doors up. Ordering take away was troublesome though - I rang up at a busy time and they put the phone down to tend to other business for 10 minutes. I hung up, rang again and got through so not sure what happened there. Then they seemed to link my number to a home delivery, which it wasn't so they bizarrely said they were outside my house even though I never said an address. Once we had the food it was great, though.
Finding this little gem was a real hit for my partner and I.
The garlic chicken is out of this world! Full of flavour, freshness and good quality meat, really was a party in my mouth! The mushroom saffron rice was light and flavoursome, the beef in our main was so tender, really an excellent experience all around. Even the selection of Pinot Grigio was a delicate accompaniment to our meal.
As we are local, this will be a regular place that we can frequent. Great find for us!
Amazing food and great service. A great variety of dishes and perfect ambiance in comparison to other Indian restaurants I have been to. Will definitely be returning!Amazing food and great service. A great variety of dishes and perfect ambiance in comparison to other Indian restaurants I have been to. Will definitely be returning!
By far the best Indian food we had in Melbourne. A perfect meal which started with mouth melting chilli panner, never had so soft panner in Melbourne. It was impossible for me to make my wife eat egg plant veggie but the chef\s special eggplant masala made the impossible possible.
A must try restaurant to try for all veggie food lovers.
Things not to be missed when you go - Chilli Panner, Egg plant Masala, Malai Kofta, Mithai Magic.
Indian Burrp - and we did, But in the best possible way. Sarah and her business partner have opened up an Indian restaurant offering a fine dining experience, just along from the Cinnamon Club on Nepean Highway, Cheltenham. If you want a romantic evening get in quick, I guarantee they will not be quiet for long. Fitted out with a wonderful huge array of warm light fittings, brick detailing and interesting wallpapers, the ambience is peaceful. The food was varied and different from the regular Indian fair. We discovered that Burrpie style means marinaded for 24 hours, and that really does make a difference to tandooried dishes, and makes gravies rich and rewarding. My standard measure of Indian food is the KashmirI Naan bread - and Burrp's is so good I had two; delicious with the goat curry - even if it left me feeling overfull, I loved every taste of it.
The items on the mixed meat platter were succulent and then some, Burrpie chicken (chef's special) is crisp and tangy, Melting Murgh does exactly that and Beef-E-tandoor was tender and spicy. We had Goat Curry and Chicken Hari Mirch - another new curry to me but again excellent. We were certainly too full for dessert.
Our one issue, the wine we brought (yes BYO!) disappeared and although the glasses brought to us were huge, we would have preferred to choose who drank most rather than have two giant balloons, each containing half a bottle!
Things to try next time include Manchurian Chicken, Pepper Mint Chicken and Lamb Arachi.
And it looks like veggie friends would love it here too.
Excellent service and fantastic food. Would highly recommend to anyone. We had the lamb cutlets as entree and butter chicken or chicken achari for mains. Everything was top quality
Absolutely loved our experience here: fantastic Indian food with authentic flavours in a nice fine dining setting with very friendly staff. My favourites were the lamb cutlets (to die for) and the Chilli Chicken. We will certainly be back as this restaurant stands out from the other Indian restaurants we experienced so far. Refreshing!
Very friendly, nice Indian restaurant with very good indian dishes. Go in and take this experience with a nice atmosphere . Very nice place.
