When I’m in the mood for a bit of chocolate indulgence, I can’t go past KoKo black. In love with the classic Belgian iced chocolate - creamy, chocolatey and utterly delicious. So many chocolates and chocolate based desserts to try - I haven’t really had a bad thing here so far (except for the crumpets which are boring). Signature hot chocolate is amazing too. Prepare for a delicious diabetic coma.

Came here after dinner, and it was very quiet. Service was great. I ordered the mousse and found it a bit too rich for me, and I unfortunately didn’t finish it. The ice cream however was amazing!
Popped into Koko Black during a shopping trip at Claremont. Service was friendly, accommodating and prompt. Delicious chocolates and tasty iced coffee.
I’ve been here to try out their afternoon tea a few of years back and it was good. Returned this time round just to get a couple of desserts. Both the gateaux and tart were delicious.

Was greeting by a lovely girl - Nikita, with the warmest most welcoming smile. She was extremely helpful in aiding us make a decision. Nikita has such a great personality, and is truly an asset to the Koko black franchise.
Good quality chocolates and affogato and rich iced chocolate. Went here post miss chows lunch. Service was good and attentive. Ambience was alright inside.
Very nice atmosphere and the staff were very kind and welcoming. We were going for a late afternoon coffee and tried another cafe in Claremont quarter but it was closing so decided to go to Koko Black. I had never been before. It was lovely! Lovely people and the coffee was good. Service was great and the atmosphere in the cafe is beautiful. Loved the coffee cups and the cool water glasses as well.
I went out to Koko black to buy a cappuccino. The service is great! Their coffee is just the same as any other coffee. I also got to try out one of their chocolates. It's really good, pretty steep.

Always fast friendly service is what you will find here. The coffee is fabulous, and the assortment of chocolates are too pretty to look at !! My favourite is the salted caramel milk chocolate... mmmmm great place to indulge.
If you ever develop a sweet tooth in the afternoon when it's time for a coffee and cake, or simply want to spoil yourself a bit more after shopping, this is the place to be! Waitstaff are friendly enough, however service may be a bit slow at times. I have sampled a few treats from here, and by far would recommend the orange hot chocolate, and if you're feeling a bit naughty, the chocolate affagato is absolutely heavenly! Would drop by again :)
The service was really fast, friendly and efficient. They had an excellent range of chocolates. Choosing was very hard. The desserts were quite expensive.
This degustation plate was very good but also come of a hefty price of $29.90 so it isn't cheap.
Only negative was the chocolate dome that could not melt but we later got told why that was.

I had the Hot chilli chocolate , tastes amazing and very spicy ! Never tried anything quite like that it was interesting ! My partner had a Ice Chocolate with some ice cream which tasted so good as well !
The server that served us was a little clumsy she kept tripping all over the place, she looked nervous but she was funny and had a sense of humour.
Had the chocolate alchemy gateau with ice cream, really great rich chocolate flavours that balanced out with the ice cream which I think is a must, sad that it's a $4 addition though. Almond pralines are worth grabbing but it's amusing that the prices listed I my pics show the greater amount you buy you still pay the same per item, you'd think it would apply a discount. Nice to see a few more dessert places in Perth
Great place to hang out in Claremont Quarter with plenty of seating and very friendly staff. I love their ice chocolate. I have tried both the classic belgian and salted caramel ice chocolate and both are really good and thick and rich in flavour! I prefer the one with salted caramel (a bit sweeter!) although $9 for a somewhat smaller than average-sized glass is a bit pricey.
I had the degustation with allowed me to sample a few sweets. It was all very rich and condensed in flavours, thick in density which will satisfy your sweet tooths. Seating in the mall was interesting, next time I may opt for the interior seats.
Seating wise I prefer the Koko Black in the city. It's more comfortable and private.
Drinks and desserts wise they are consistent. I love the dark hot choc.
I love their chocolates but the hot chocolate on a cool day morning is heaven. I go for soy and it's still delicious. Keen to the try the degustation next time.
Was gifted a selection of Koko Black's divine chocolates from the Claremont store for my birthday over the weekend and they were just as lovely as their sister store in the city. The selection included the Chilli Chocolate, which was rich and decadent at first bite, with a zing of spicy chilli to follow. It was an interesting combination which I'm not sure how I felt about it, but the chocolate was melt in your mouth. Also tried the Dark Salted Caramel which was really stunning. The dark chocolate wasn't bitter at all and the smooth caramel and pinch of salt was a really beautiful combination. I'll be back for more chocolates - they make a lovely gift!
Haven't come back for a while. KB now have a lot of interesting desserts. We shared Salted Caramel Delice and it's really yummy. When you cut the cake open, there were several elements inside. They all compliment each other really well and not overly sweet either. They also gave a half transparent tuile and pour salted caramel sauce on top of it, cool theatre. Will try others next time.
Perfect place for a coffee catch up anytime of day. Coffee and a toasted sandwich during the day or a hot chocolate or chocolate dessert at night. Good Toby's Estate coffee and the chocolates are really good quality. Always like to try a different flavor each time. Hard to pick a favourite! Their Opera chocolate cake is one of my favourite chocolate cakes, and I don't even usually like chocolate cake!

Two things to love about Claremont = Brooklyn’s Friday night oyster night, followed by Koko Black for post-oyster dessert and coffee. What better combo could you find within a few minutes walk of each other?. Claremont’s KB is a notch above the CBD outlet in my book. Aesthetically more pleasing and more relaxed, it’s also easier to access. For a Friday night sweet treat, it’s my Nirvana.
Desserts@Stressed, If you stress eat dessert. If you eat too much dessert you will stress!!!! Best place to visit were you can have all different kinds of chocolate. Coffee was very good.

This is a chocolate lover’s heaven. But they are more than just a chocolate specialty place. They are an epic dessert utopia. Koko Black serves amazingly rich and decadent hot chocolates as well as creamy and indulgence ice chocolates. There are also a wide variety of desserts to choose from: high tea, ice creams, chocolate truffles or other sweet treats. One sweet goodie that is worth a mention is the salted caramel delice. Oh my golly goodness. It’s truly amazing and divine. If the dessert wasn’t sweet enough, it is served with a pot of salted caramel poured over the top of the dessert. Instant sugar high and sweet tooth satisfied. I find that because it is so rich and indulgent, you can only have a dessert or a drink – having both is way too much (and that’s coming from someone with a big sweet tooth). I am glad that both Koko Black stores are far away from me or else I would go here more often. This is definitely a one a while place. Everything in moderate right? Treat yourself!
This is my go-to place for hot chocolate. I prefer the 'light' version. Very popular with the Asian-Australian community. The handmade chocolates and delicious little cakes are on the higher end of the price range but it's a safe bet you'll like what you order.
I know they're known for their chocolates, but their chai tea with milk (chai latte) and honey on the side is so yum! Made a note to try their hot chocolate the next time I'm here, but can't seem to move away from the chai!
Heard today Koko Black has gone into recievership? ! I truly don't understand how this can happen when you're charging $7 per drink and $12+ for every dessert. Some very poor management there thats for sure. Really amazing and different desserts, the drinks are decedent and a real treat, lovely staff working there, the affogato is divine and the truffles luscious. Such a shame management couldn't handle a wonderful place
Their light hot chocolate is my favorite. A nice place to have morning or afternoon tea. But it's just a standard coffee shop for me except if you are a choco lover.
DIVINE....this is place is a chocolate lovers heaven. It's refined and not just a sugar rush. The desserts are delicious and look amazing. There is a lovely Sunday feel about the cafe.

All good - better than a cafe because it specialises... So if you like chocolate give it a crack; wide variety and reasonable prices. Dark chocolate is a winner here and they know how to brew coffee.
What a gem of a place! By far, this is my favourite place in W.A. For a hardcore chocoholic like me, this is the ideal place to get your dose of all things chocolate. The best part about Koko Black is that you can get high-quality chocolate desserts for an affordable price. I highly recommend everyone to try their Chocolate Degustation platter. It's definitely worth the money. It may not look like much quantity-wise but trust me, two people can share this and go away feeling full for 4-6 hours.

I recently popped in to Koko Black for a coffee but ended up buying 3 chocolates and a hot chocolate.....I was easily persuaded. The staff were lovely and the chocolates were divine, some of the best made chocolates in Perth and at such a premium location, amazing shopping and chocolate...what more could a girl ask for?!?
Great atmosphere, coffee was good. Only downside was the wait for the coffee took a bit longer than expected. It's a nice place! Will try the food next time I'm back
For those with a sweet tooth this is your one stop shop. Koko black is every kids dream (big or small) when it comes to chocolate. The chocolate degustation plate is amazing (make sure you have an empty stomach before you arrive) and the vegetable toasted sandwiches were amazing! Soy hot chocolates are a favourite and done very well. Prices are on the higher end but worthwhile to treat yourself to some seriously nice chocolate.
Been here twice and both times have been great. Always great service and the dining experience is lovely. Everything is very indulgent and whilst it is very filling and chocolatey it is always beautiful and delicious.

That creme brûlée though. So the creme brûlée tart is an eternal favourite (and so many of their chocolates are amazing too). However I've repeatedly found their salted caramel items are just not up to scratch. It tastes like they've taken the salted caramel too far (slightly burnt), and there's not enough salt. Specifically the salted caramel iced chocolate and the salted caramel delice. I'm quite a sweet tooth but I felt like a needed to "lick a pile of salt compost" after having them. Definitely sharing items if you do get them (in fact you could share all the desserts that cost $10+, which is a positive in that it's still a fair price then).
But I do love the place, and generally stuff is fantastic and a nice, relaxed place in which to chat and catch up with friends.
Chocolate is the most decadent accompanimentI to coffee. What a delightful indulgence and wonderful to share with special people on special occasions.
Always premium quality and worth every cent. Love that they have gluten free options and that they have lighter desserts that aren’t too dense, just ask for recommendations from the lovely waitstaff. My goodness the Belgian hot chocolate is divine. I can always come here and know I won’t be disappointed.

Death by chocolate. The $24 chocolate degustation for 2 doesnt look big but don't be fooled by the size. Each item is quite rich so don't order it if you have a full stomach but it is very very very tasty.
Recommended. Koko black Claremont is chock full of chocolate and to me, rivals San Churro's Chocolateria in terms of hot beverages and chocolate dishes. I highly recommend tasting their assorted hot chocolates.
My Mothership. I cannot say enough nice things about this place! From entering and sinking into those luxurious chairs, the attentive wait-staff and the incredible food. One of the wait-staff, Nicole, is one of the most genuinely lovely people you will ever come across, so kind, so attentive and so efficient. This really is a wonderful place! If you can get the Chocolate Moelleux with pistachios, raspberry mouse and fondant you will never be able to go back to cadbury!
Tiny Delights. Very enjoyable for a little afternoon indulgence :) I can't comment on the coffee, but I have found the iced chocolates/iced coffee delicious - and feel just that little more special being served in a balloon glass! I was recently treated to the Queen of Hearts high tea for my birthday - a good variety of sweet and savoury treats, and very filling. I feel that some items are a little pricey for the size (the goat cheese and leek tart is miniscule at $4.50) but the hand made chocolates are high quality and a wickedly indulgent treat. Service is reasonably attentive but the overall feel of the place could use a little more coziness, for want of a better term.

Chocolate heaven.. A really lovely place to stop over and indulge in delicious desserts! And I mean the food is reeeeally delicious! Better than San Churros by far. The service is excellent with friendly and welcoming staff. The iced chocolate is out of this world. I look forward to new additions to the menu every season.

We first discovered this chain in Melbourne in 2006, and have attended Claremont regularly since it opened. We had morning tea there 25.1.2014. The iced chocolate is scrumptious, and we ordered three chocolate truffles to share, unfortunately after we had eaten all three, we realised they gave us two the same, and we missed out on one flavour. As we paid, we pointed this out, the girl was most apologetic and gave us a free truffle, of the flavour we missed out on. Great service, thanks Koko Black, you reinforce every good thought we had about you! We will return!
Lovely. This is a popular place for my girlfriends and I when we want to go out and be grown up! Fabulous service, tea/coffee always good and the decidence of the food! Will be back over and over and over again!

Yummy! Everything tastes brilliant. Really good to see Koko's has made it's way over to Perth. It was always on my must do list when in Melbourne. As someone said, it is a lot better than max brenner and the wait staff are friendly and courteous. Perth needs more places like this.
Drool. So much better than Max Brenner over East. I don't know why everyone thinks Max Brenner is better. I was pleasantly surprised coming to Koko Black. The quality of the chocolate used at Koko Black surpasses the chocolate used at Max Brenner.

The Non Existent Diet

Beautiful tasty treats to spoil yourself with!. I always love going to Koko Black. Back when it first opened, my friends and family (and of course myself) were obsessive with our indulgent visits to the one and only chocolatier café in Claremont Quarter. As a result of our frequent visits, I had to detox from it a few months and was pleasantly surprised to find that they now do seasonal menus. The new menus are smaller and contain a greater number of items from the glass cabinet, placed at the corner of Koko’s. I go on two separate occasions – a Friday afternoon (~2 pm) and on a Wednesday night (~8pm).
I especially love the ambience of Koko’s – it is always warmly lit and elegant in its black leather and golden highlights. It is perfect for an intimate catch-up or for a romantic date. There is also always plenty of space to sit – either just outside of Koko’s (indoors), along the length of the food cabinet or inside.
The Winter specials include a droolworthy selection. We go for the ever reliable Chocolate Molleaux ($12.50), which is served with the lightest ever raspberry espuma. The molleaux sports its trademark molten centre, rich and caked in a moist dense chocolate pudding. A twisted tuille-like biscuit sits aside it all – a beautiful looking dish, which is always perfectly presented and tastes the same every time...
I have the Chocolate Alchemy Cake ($9.50) which I catch a glimpse of in the way in. It a ginormous slender portion of cake topped with a low row of milk chocolate pieces (it reminds a long piece chocolate snapped off a Cadbury bar). Sitting atop the row of chocolate is a small piece of golden foil – gorgeous! The cake itself oozes chocolate sauce, though the cake itself is a bit dry and could do with another few more seconds in the oven/ microwave as it was a touch on the cold side.
The Hot Pressed Sandwiches ($8.50) also are pretty good, four triangular slabs of sundried tomato pesto, eggplant and boccocini. It was a tasty savoury combination and the hot pressed sandwiches were well toasted and generously buttered. It also had a splash of rocket inside, which was a nice addition.
My absolute favourite was the Baked Chocolate Tart ($8.00) with creme anglaise. It was smaller than I would have thought (about the size of my palm), but it was a perfect size to devour without feeling like a chocolate glutton afterwards. It had a thin base of crumbly buttery pastry and had a warm chocolate-cake like interior. It wasn’t overtly saccharine (it uses a 64% Madagascan coverture chocolate, which of the dark variety and apparently has “notes of caramel, green banana, acidic fruit with a buttery finish”) and had a dense texture. The vanilla creme anglaise came served in a little jug beside it, which the waitress poured on my plate for me. I loved that anglaise – it was smooth, creamy and slightly chilled which contrasted nicely with the warm chocolate tart. You could also taste (and visually witness) the authenticity of the spit vanilla pod. Heaven on a plate!
The drinks were as good as always – the hot chocolates and babycinos were warm with sublime froth. The attention to detail with the drinks are always impeccable – the baristas never fail to spin out some pretty patterns, either flowers, love hearts or smiley faces using a combination of skill, chocolate powder and chocolate sauce.
At the end of the night, after several glasses of water to wash down the chocolate and to settle our stomachs, the waitresses presented us with a little cup of complimentary truffles. They were announced as the Cassis truffle, a rectangular portion of chocolate with intense wild berry flavours in its fudgy interior. Balanced in the corner was a nerd-like (of the lolly kind) piece of dried berry – very tasty, with a nice fruity tartness to it. We were also lucky enough to sample the Dark Salted Caramel, which was delicious. Both were gluten free and nut free.
There is always fabulous service at Koko’s – consistently the best in Perth, behind the scenes and at the front counter. The waitresses are always friendly, efficiently and eager to please. The lady at the front of the counter is always keen to hear about our feedback, and I only have wonderful things to say about Koko’s! It’s also a very family friendly environment – enough space to cater for large groups and a section of menu items for little kids. A must try for everyone in Perth!

Yummmm. Best chocolate available in Perth! Every time i'm in Claremont I take a whole heap home. The cafe is great, the food and drinks are so decadent!! The mini creme brulee is gorgeous and they have really nice coffee too. I would like to try a high tea, I bet it's amazing :)

Good quality food and drinks!. Even though this place is a bit pricey, you get for what you pay: hot chocolates are amazing you must give it a try. I tried the Belgium spoilt which was excellent but I would recommend to have coffee with it instead of a hot chocolate as it is really rich. It's a pleasure to find a place where quality products are sold. And I forgot to mention that the service was perfect! The waitress was nice and kind and she did a really good job making us feel comfortable.
