Great Claremont cafe for brunch. Favourite dish mushrooms on toast with truffle oil. Top class coffee and fast friendly service. Great cafe for families with big range of menu options including for vegetarians.
Amazing service and staff! We were greeted as soon as we came in. The staff were very polite and seemed to be truly happy to be here. The coffee and food were delicious too! Would definitely come back!
As there was Jazz at the Mezz last night we decided to book in to Academy for a casual meal while we enjoyed the music. We were shown to a table facing the stage - perfect!! The staff were very busy as they probably had not expected such a busy night - but their grace under pressure was exceptional - full marks! The food was just what we were looking for - a couple of shared plates and then a burger to share - thoughtfully already divided on to two separate plates. Couple of lovely cool glasses of bubbles made this the perfect evening. Thanks to you all at Academy
We came here on Saturday wintry afternoon. Despite the miserable weather, the cafe was bustling. I ordered the barramundi and my darling wanted the pumpkin salad. We both enjoyed the lunch but the pumpkin salad was a bit oily. The coffees were excellent.
What can I say, it was a breath of fresh air to be served by some people with some personality! The food was well complimented with lovely and quick service. My partner and I enjoyed the indoor seating with the breeze of open window. We were finally glad to find a place in Claremont combining professionalism with enthusiasm! Thoroughly enjoyed the lamb pita and soul of the day. Large servings and for reasonable prices (also use of an entertainment book voucher) we will be sure to comeback. Probably to try the delicious looking cakes in the front window.
Wow. Grabbed a take away coffee here yesterday and it was absolutely beautiful. Super friendly guy on the counter. If you're doing some shopping in Claremont definitely stop in!!
This outlet is a great find in Claremont. No wonder it usually has people queuing at the counter. Ready-made rolls, focaccia, slices etc as well as made-to-order meals.
Prices are reasonable and service is great.
Swiss breakfast is simple and delicious. Perfect hangover meal! Black pudding was a great texture and not too salty. The thick shakes are great.
This place is just lovely. I came here for Sunday brunch. The coffees came out prompt and hit. I ordered off the sides menu which was extensive. The eggs were runny and they were not stingy with the salmon or avocado. It has a nice and relaxing atmosphere with plenty of seating available. Staff were lovely. Would def go back.
We booked a table for 6. I had the vego breakfast which was very tasty, my only criticism was that the spinach and mushroom were a bit oily (supposed to be sautéed, but not), flavours were great though. My partner had the eggs Benny, which he enjoyed, albeit a little salty. Others had the big brekky, Spanish eggs and raspberry & vanilla muffin- they all looked great. Coffee was pretty good too. This place has a wonderful shared outdoor area and playground for kids

Formally known as Atomic Café, Academy Cafe has officially re-launched with Head Chef Jay Tesorero and Sous Chef Gary Blanchio by his side. The Menu encompasses Asian, European and American influences to create interesting and emphatic tastes inspired by the travels of Head Chef Jay. The dinner menu at the Academy is available Thursday – Sunday until 10pm. The price range is quite moderate with a meal for two somewhere between $45-60. I think the ambience of the cafe at night makes it a super cute date night cafe...

I have been to Academy quite a few times now and the service has always been great, staff always smiling and attentive. The coffee is good and some days its been great. The food is very tasty, well priced and nothing goes down better with a coffee then a fresh pastry that takes you back to France.
My son and I have shared a burger, which he tells me, he will never share again as he wants one to himself! I'm really looking forward to going to Academy for their dinner nights, which is great as Claremont is a baren landscape when it comes to places to go to for a nice meal with friends.
The breakfast was very good , the coffee was made to perfection ...and taste superb ...I will come back for more ...
The change from Atomic to Academy , is been superb , more choice on food, and very good service, from the staff.
I came In today to have lunch and a coffee, it was well priced and the coffee was delicious and presented well. Seems the new owners are putting a strong emphasis on presentation which is great as the taste has always been up there compared to other Claremont venues.
I also had the club sandwich. It was filling and and arrived quickly which is refreshing. As with the coffee, presentation has been improved, the turkey was juicy and it made the dish all the more enjoyable to eat. Would highly recommend.
Service is great, food and coffee is even better. Made to feel very comfortable and nothing is too hard. Would recommend to anyone, not too expensive for what you get. Great atmosphere inside and out. Healthy options always gets me happy.

This time had the Moroccan Lamb Salad which was delicious and the person on the next table asked what it was so she could order it next time as it looked so good

Superb long black and a good range of sweet cakes. Atomic now has a takeaway counter inside Claremont Quarter (or should I say CAKE Quarter!!). This includes raw desserts and my favourite Rawsome brand.
The caramel tart was super goey and smooth inside, which was a pleasant surprise! Quite a rich sweet tart, great with a sugarless long black coffee. The coconut protein ball consisted of a smooth cacao interior. We were happy to find a cafe that suits different sweet eaters :)
Atomic is always bustling and when its full its quite noisey, a fantastic option if you need a change of scenery from a quiet scene of say work or study. They open early so if you happen to be waiting for the train, head over the train tracks for a reasonable priced breakfast. I am definitely keen to return for breakfast!
I like this place. I like the food, the staff and most of the drinks. But for me the magazine collection makes my day here. The natural light pouring in is fab and the spattering of relatively divine people doesn't hurt
Great place to go if you like to watch staff stand around talking whilst tables remain uncleaned. Had to earn the annoyance of a staff member and ask for someone else's dishes be removed from my table.
Try it before you read the reviews. Glad I didn't read the reviews before I came here for lunch on a very busy Thursday - I might not have come! Service was fine, coffee was good, and the Thai beef salad was really good - crispy greens, tender beef, and a tasty dressing. Will be back.
Great coffee and food. Pros- nasi goreng is the bomb! their warm chocolate croissants make me feel warm and fuzzy. The bruschetta, both ways, is lovely and a great breakfast or light lunch. raspberry chocolate brownies, need I say more? yes, they probably to purchase a lot of their cakes etc but they're still great every time I've eaten them, and I've eaten a lot :)the guy that use to make coffee is also no longer there, sorry coffee guy, but his coffee was terrible.
cons - it gets crazy busy but I guess that they're just popular. it's popular with mums and bubs but quite difficult when they're trying to squish in prams etc. Also I miss the bubbly supervisor, Frances was always great!
Coffee & Cupcake. I wanted to go elsewhere but this was the most kid friendly option for a quick stop on Thursday morning. Good coffee and cupcake. Service was quick. It is a nice bright space and was very clean.
Great cafe. I too am surprised at the low score I had a great experience at this cafe. Great coffee and cakes are delicious! Friendly and efficient service. Will be coming back to try the lunch menu!
I was shocked when I saw how low this scored on Urban spoon. Excellent service, friendly and quick. I had eggs Benedict and it was very tasty with quality produce. Highly recommend it!

Salads are fantastic, I've seen comments below that the service is terrible - o think that is a tad harsh, it's not good but given it's the only decent place to grab a meal in Claremont quarter I think it's fine, definitely not bad enough to not go there as the food is very very good
The food will leave you full and with a big smile. Coffee is great however very disappointed that this coffee shop that prides itself on excellence does not do fresh juices. Need to upgrade the menu.

Best Brekky around Claremont since lemon lane went downhill. Big servings, cheaps to add extras, always good sized coffees and have never felt unwelcome. Love this place!! So good they now have Eftpos!

Brisk Brunch. Great spot for a quick brunch while shopping in the Claremont locale. The food, coffee and service was all good and of a standard and price you'd expect in this part of town. The "order and pay at the counter" approach does seem a little at odds with the general sense that this is a place frequented mainly by yummy mummies and the pearl and twin-set brigade, who you'd think would prefer proper table service....to me it always seems a like a choice between fast food outlet and cafe couldn't be decided on so the two have been combined in a sort of service no-man's land. The phenomena does seem, however, to be much more prevelant in WA. This service oddity aside, it was most pleasing to be able to enjoy a good glass of Australian sparkling wine as pre-brunch aperitif. Very soon after we had a mouthful of bubbles our food was delivered, hot, fresh and impressively (dare I say scarily) fast. Disappointingly our coffees arrived at the same time as our meals and before we'd even finished a quarter of our wine so they were cold by the time we were ready to drink them. So back to the counter I went to order and pay for more - annoying really - but the coffee was good so no harm, no foul. All in all a pleasant start to a rainy morning, but at these prices I'd rather proper table service.
It amazes me how people find the time to whinge and wine about coffee and food at atomic.
I personally go to Claremont and South Perth for breakfast and dinner and yes sometimes you may get a not so hot coffee or you may have to wait 5 or 10 minutes for your food, but the staff will bend over backwards to make things right. I find the staff very friendly and the food and coffee perfect. So to all you whinges get a life and if you are not happy go to McDonalds and stop slagging Atomic .
2 happy customers!. Second time this week I have lunched at Atomic, Thai beef salad and calamari salad perfect light lunches...my friend was also over the moon with her chicken bruschetta... In my opinion well priced for great quality and cool setting!
Above and beyond the call of duty. I work in Claremont and have been coming to Atomic three, four times a week for the past nine months. I find the reviews for here interesting and often hilarious because I've personally found Atomic hits the mark every time. I'm addicted to the coffee and love the food, the vibe, the music and the staff there.They seem to understand something that others don't quite get: that the cafe of your choice isn't selected randomly or on the basis of a review, it's because a guy working there remembers how you like your (difficult off-the-menu) coffee and makes it perfect every time. I haven't been to the South Perth Atomic yet but if they have the same vibe, menu and cheeky banter between the staff, I'll include it on my coffee rounds.
