Have ordered delivery and bought takeaway from here before. It's quite pricey but big portions, sometimes rather hard to finish. They have a rather nice and authentic sheng jian bao (pan fried pork buns) for $9.50. The delivery driver is pretty nice and cordial, gave both chilli and vinegar to eat with the dumplings. Service at the restaurant was so-so, typical kind of cramped Asian place that emphasizes more on food than anything else. Their xiao long bao (soup pork dumplings) is decent, but nothing fantastic. Probably one of the better dumpling places in Clayton area though.
We loveeeeee the pork dumplings. Unfortunately the beef dumplings, rice and spring rolls I tried were very average. Have been back on occasion for the pork dumplings though. Have to get in early as it's quite busy
Decent dumplings and xiaolongbaos.
Came here for a random visit and had the dumplings, the xiaolongbaos, and wontons in soup.
The xiaolongbaos are decently well-sized and are tasty enough. Certainly not comparable to the XLB joints in Chinatown though.
The wontons in soup weren't too bad, although it seemed as if the soup had some MSG in it.
Tried this place out in a shopping strip where dumplings rule. I go to one of their more famous competitors and overall it's a good place, but doesn't beat my dumpling place of choice. Service was really good. There was no language barrier and we were served quickly. Ok, so their boiled pork dumplings had a good filling, however I do not like their dough. It was a little thick and clunky, even tough. Yes, they weren't as watery as I'd usually have them and they stayed intact but, the dough was something different. I ate them all, so they tasted good, but I think I like my usual place more. However, their fried vegetarian dumplings were so good! They saved this review from being a 3. They had like little noodles in them which I enjoyed and had a less herby filling too. Really could not fault them, creative but tasty (I didn't even order them-I just tried some from my dining partner's plate!) Decor and environment was fine but it's a really small establishment and we were placed in a cramped area-admittedly, the whole place feels cramped- so I didn't like how the tables felts too small and so we could not really sit comfortably whilst eating. I am picky about how and what the side sauces are filled into, so I didn't like the glass things they were in, they felt as if they hadn't been wiped down well possibly* and before pouring I could smell Soy and vinegar on my hands already (a small side note- use pump bottles next time- makes less mess). Prices are good, slightly cheaper than most. However, I may go again I may not, I think I will still stick with my place of choice. This isn't a bad eatery at all, it's good, but may suffer from an enormity of competition in this cuisine.
great place for dumplings. slightly cramped but service is alright. dumplings are large in size and filing is generous. vegetarian dumplings have noodles inside which is different from the ones ive had and somewhat had a sweetness to it. if you're looking for crunchy dumplings, id recommened this place
I'm a meat lover and I really enjoy the duck and fried shrimp dumplings I ordered today, as well as other meat snacks. BTW, price is very reasonable
@we love dumpling. I am a chef too and I know the all ingredient form the steam semi watery pork bun. Any portion is so complex and experience come from chef's training day by day. Absolutely they do a good job. There is nothing better than eating a Shanghai's dishes in Melbourne.
Nice restaurant. If just looking at it from the street, you wouldn't expect the food quality to be that good here. The vegi dumpling is a total surprise! Love the kong pao chicken as well! Have been there few times and certainly one of our regular list!
Love this restaurant! My son never eats so much at any other place I take him. He has a very picky stomach . Very good service and food is super yummy!
we had steamed dumpling: vegetarian as well as chicken & prawn. Super delicious. Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was so fresh and tasty. And the fried noodles with vegetables had a wonderful barbeque flavour. Very full, very happy. Great value too!
Yep we love dumpling and the dumplings here are sensational. I also love the "Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce" (it's blanched not stir fried so less oily) and the braised pork belly with boiled egg on rice. ( the pork belly is so tender accompanied with picked veg fantastic). Service ;in my opinion, is much better than any popular dumpling joints in Melbourne. Pricing...you can't go wrong with the price. It's cheap and super value for the money. I might like "Aunty dumpling", "Ping", or "Hutong Dumpling" and visit those places from time to time. I'd like to say "We Love Dumpling" is my favorite dumpling joint right now.(Dec 2015)
We had their fried vegetarian dumplings, spring onion pancakes and pork belly with cabbage stir fry. Although their vegetarian dumplings are by far the best in the area, everything was quite oily. Good place for a quick and cheap eat!
I just dropped in one day after school and now I am totally obsessed with the Xiao Long Bao! Steamed pork dumplings are extremely tasty as well.
There's enough chilli oil on table to drunk your dumplings in.
Service was very friendly and I also take away some fresh chicken and prawn dumplings to cook at home.
Anyway it is a must go place in Clayton!!
Xiao long bao was yummy! Sent during lunch time and was not as busy as what other reviews. The dumpings in chilli soup were bland. Staffs were friendly.
I'm always happy with the food here, very consistent and flavourful. At the top of my affordable dining list. Staff are friendly, and service is flexible, they don't always remember which dish they're bringing to the table, but not a fault by any means.
As of 12/9/2015: this is me and partner favourite dumpling place. Their xiao long bao is superb. Great texture and rich soup. Try the cold dishes like seaweed! It was a cultural experience to me. Love their chicken and prawn dumpling. Oh did i mention it's cost $20 for 2? Go figure
When price matters, and you are passing by Clayton, be sure to drop in to "We Love Dumpling". I can't say much for the simple design, and the cramped tables - but when it comes to dumplings, these guys are very close to the best. Steamed or fried, these dumplings are large in comparison to others, and are freshly made on the premises. The range is average, so it will only take 3 visits to try most variations of dumpling - my favorites are the pork and chicken & prawn. Don't despair if you don't like the standard fare, as there are many other delicious offerings on the menu - including soups, noodle & rice dishes, and barbeque. Dessert buns (bao) are available and the hot tea is free (another bonus), and there are adequate toilet facilities. Just be careful not to knock someone's meal off the table when sliding out towards the toilet (or the front door) - yes it's that tight, so I don't recommend groups over 6. A big warning about the Chef's recommendations (first 4 on the menu) - the sizes are very small, about half that of the normal portion size - so I recommend sticking with the main dishes (i.e. item no. 5 onwards). All in all the food is exceptional (especially for the price - $8.50 for 10 chicken & prawn dumplings) and the service is as quick as it can be. Seated, ordered and munching within 20 minutes (average out of 12 visits). A good score of 3.5 mainly for quality and price, pity about the cramped space.
Best Dumplings in Clayton. Best pan fried and Shanghai I've had so far. Don't know about the rest though. Service usually pretty good. Can be slow though. Busy and cramped. But guess that's standard for quick in/out places
Best dumplings I've had so far. A weekly treat that never gets old.
Definitely a shoot off from pings a few shops down but we prefer it. The meals come out at different times which can be a bit frustrating with a big group, but in terms of value for money you can't beat these guys.
Nice. Superior to Ping's. Menu can be hit-and-miss (I've never had anything 'bad', just less than nice). Order dumplings, though, and you won't be unhappy. The shopfront setup, where you can see dumplings being made in small batches, is a nice touch in a suburb where more than a few places are happy to reheat (and charge restaurant prices for) the stuff you buy in the frozen section of Hong Kong Supermarket.
We Love You!. Fantastic dumpling restaurant. Came here when our default Ping's was busy. This is cleaner and nicer! Standard dumpling menu. EFTPOS available too.
Great Dumplings.. Really great food.
The best dumplings in Vic.. I have had dumplings from all over Vic chasing the perfect round ball of deliciousness and I have found it. We love dumplings is second to none. Restraunt just opened but within months it will overtake 'pings dumplings' as the best in Clayton.
Try it. I prefer this to Ping's even though the menu is essentially the same. I have the steamed vege buns and my bf steamed pork dumplings, we both agree that it taste better and more fresh.
Service is also better.
Interior is also nice and a clean look.
If Ping's is too busy, go to this place!
It is good and the meals are really big. It is cheap toooo! I like it:)
Nice fresh tasty dumplings + good menu selection.. We Love Dumpling is very similar to Pings dumplings located just a few doors down (which we've gone to and enjoyed many times) - but is a notch or two more up market. Prices are slightly higher but food is nicer + fresher and there's more to choose from (particularly on the dumpling side).
The dumpling kitchen is located in the front window - so you can watch them doing their thing - a nice touch giving it a more human feel. Seats are comfortable and it's actually heated (unlike Pings) - so no sitting around wearing your winter jackets. However, due to the very small dining section it's extremely cramped in there - far too many tables for the small available space. We had a baby/pram with us - so we were forced to choose the table right next to the front door as there would have been no way we could actually get the pram through the tables to anywhere else.
The selection of dumplings, buns + wontons is pretty good here compared to pings - there's quite a lot of different types + styles to try out. We got the fried beef dumplings + wontons in chilli oil - both were very tasty + had a nice freshly made/fresh ingredients taste to them. The mains too offer a very similar range of dishes to Pings - but probably more in tune with western tastes - less bits of animals you may not be accustomed to eating (if you're not chinese) - and some more mainstream dishes (ie. nasi goreng, beef in black pepper etc). We had the chilli beef - tasted almost same as the dish at Pings (which is good) - had a much bigger serve, although was more expensive so probably about same value for money.
One thing we seem to have a problem with everywhere happens here too - we asked for the dumplings to be brought out first (as entre's) - and then the mains to be brought out afterwards. Of course this was ignored - the main came out first (without the accompanying rice), then one dumpling dish + the rice a little while later - followed by the wontons (so basically came out as it was cooked). As said, we seem to have a problem with this in many chinese restaurants - I guess something about the culture we don't understand.
Would recommend it if you want somewhere pretty cheap but good + authentic - we'll be coming back to try out all the other dumpling variants + mains.
$8.80 for 15 dumplings is a good deal and these are the biggest dumplings I've ever had. Thick doughy wrapper cooked right, lots of fresh tasting filling. I'd skipped lunch and still couldn't finish these in one sitting.
I love the dumpling here ! See them made in the window and then steamed at the back , fresh to be eaten. Delicious and well priced dumplings eatery.
Great dumplings. Cheap and great atmosphere although if you are not Chinese they don't give you a good service. But otherwise the food is amazing.
