I am basically a foodie,always trying new restaurants as I want to explore basically south Indian dishes and visited dosa hut , clayton for the first time yesterday. Have tasted their dosas and biryani and both of them just melted in my mouth. So far this is the best I had in Melbourne . Definitely more visits will follow to this place. Kudos to management and staff. Simply superb.
Great food... Quick food... Excellent service... Esp one of the guys came and asked if we need any additional sambar, chutney or curry was awesome... Felt like the hospitality I got in India .... Keep up the good work .... A place to recommend for my friends and family... See you guys soon!!!
We had panner manchurian, veg manchurian gravy, pav bhaji, chat papdi, schewzan veg noodles and paneer masala dosa. Food was delicious. Service also quick. Would recommend to try their food.

Dosa hut make the best Dosas. The plain dosa is nice and crispy and is served with a great sambar and chutney.
My wife and I visited Dosa Hut in Clayton last week for lunch. The service was quick and the waitress who served us was excellent.
We ordered a Chicken Biriyani and a plain Dosa with a mango lassi. '
All the food was served hot and was quite tasty. Our mistake was asking for the food to be mild as it was too mild for our palates.
But full marks for good service and value for money lunch food.
My only criticism is that - like many India Restaurants and Cafes, the men's toilet was a mess with boxes stored in the passage.
Still, the good service and food made up for that.
We'll be back.

Puri - The dahi puri is a thin shelled golgappa which holds the sweetly beaten yoghurt and well garnished with a variety of things.
Plain dosa is avaliable on a cone or pipe shape. Move crispy edges abd semi soft inside. The sauces are spicy with a yoghurt base saice to neutralize the spiciness
Chicken with 65 spices dosa - quite spicy and topped on the flat dosa. The sauces can be tasted in the chicken.
I have been to this place numerous times, I have never been disappointed by their food and the service. It is the best place for Indian food out of so many others I have visited. A special mention to service by Mr. Gurbinder who served us with so much love and made our experience great. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic place for Indian food. Certainly the best biryani place in Melbourne. Recently they started a new amazing variant of Biryani called the “Joint” Biryani. Generous portions of food served and value for money.

We had a really great experience on a sunday night. Ordered the Chicken 65 biryani family pack to eat in.
The place was clean, service was spot on and the biryani came within 5 mins of ordering even though they were busy.
We went medium but i’ve lost my spiciness perseverance and the biryani was spicy for us but that didn’t stop us from eating away. We will order mild the next time.
For $60 this is perfect for 5 average eaters and 4 stoned eaters. It conveniently comes in a takeaway tray so we wrapped away the leftovers for next day’s lunch.
Being from India I never expected to get such authentic Dosa here in Australia. Keep it up guys, good work. Suggestion :- Just increase your timings.
I would say this is quite an underrated place but it serves the best south indian food I have tried so far. In addition to their specialty in south indian food specifically dosa, the fusion of indo chinese dishes would definitely make anyone’s mouth water. I have been eating at this place a lot lately and would be recommending it to all my friends who miss south indian and indochinese food.
All in all the restaurant is quite spacious, not like a lot other indian restaurants and the servicing is fast too.
The food is quite good. Came here for my monthly company lunch and this place never cease to amaze me. Their food, their service is just amazing. Good going guys, keep it up.
This place is quite under rated. A very clean and modern restaurant unlike most other Indian restaurants near by. The biriyani is my favourite and one of the best I’ve had, the lunch special is good value and great size. The chicken 65 was also very nice. The service at times can be a bit slow/ understaffed.
Loved their Chicken Briyani. Good flavour and good serving size. Tried their Goat Briyani as well, which was good. The best dish I had here was their Chicken 65. Amazing. You have to try the Chicken 65.
4 stars for good biryani and 1 star for ok service. Big serve Biryani came in big plate with lots of onion, special peanut chutni, yogurt. Biryani was really tasteful. Will go back again.
Love the Chicken 65 Biryani! Cannot get enough of it - accompanied by the Mint Yogurt sauce. Unfortunately, it sells out way too quickly and if you order it too late in the evening you probably won't get any but hell if you get some, enjoy it!
Also when ordering Takeaway - have an option for 2 people not just 1 person or 4 - 6 people.

Always love their food. Especially the steet food masala pani puri and veg noodles and dosa range. Papri could have been little thin. Though i love the flavour food and their quick service.
I tried the lamb dosa combo deal, extra with mango lassi. The lamb dosa was good but i wouldn't call it amazing and i found the spices in the lamb a bit overpowering. Idly and the dipping sauces were delicious. Portion was decent and service was really good. Apparently the fried rice is really good here, i shall try it next time.
I tried in all branches of dosa corner's and hut's ... same food but with various names. As a hyderabadi i always go for biriyani .. its same but tastes all right ...bored, looking for new biriyani styles 'such a massive eating houses you guys can make it,...make specials .. other than that nothing to say..one word to describe

Went here with a big family after celebrating a graduation.
We were warmly greeted and took our seats at one of the big tables down the back.
A young lady (whose name we unfortunately didn't get) took our orders, and tended to everything we required over the course of the night. We had dosas, biryani and some rasmalai.
The food was pretty close to authentic south Indian food that we're used to.
But the highlight of the night was the service. If the manager reads this, please give the young girl that was working on Monday May 22nd night a raise, it was the highest level of service we had ever received at a restaurant. She's a real asset to the place.
We didn't get a chance to thank her for everything at the end as she had gone into the kitchen as we were leaving.
Whoever you are, well done. There's not many of you around these days!
We'll definitely be back again, and hopefully will get to convey our gratitude to this delightful waitress!
Real flavours and fantastic dosa's and samosas. I even got to eat pani pure!!! The lunch service was great and the prices aren't too steep. Nice and spicy

A branch chain for Indian food. The Clayton branch is very spacious, good for gatherings and perhaps events.
The dishes were quite small for its price. We dine in for 6 people and everyone gets almost one tablespoon of the dishes. So order more dishes if you are big eater to get choices.
Despite the portion being small, the flavours are definitely there:
Vegetable fried balls
These babies are amazing, the crispiness, the spices and the salsa that went on it. Consider this pleasure guilt.
Crispy lamb
Shredded lamb first fried to get a crispy texture and then tossed in salsa. Definitely different from other Indian that I have tried. Unique on its own.
Mince meat Dosa
Nice and crunchy skin filled with LOTS of mincemeat filling + eggs. Go well with the curry that comes along. However, warning that due to overwhelming load of mince meat especially in the center of the dosa- will be sick of the meat taste 🙈
Nasi Briyani Chicken 62- family size
Dosa hut deserve a 4 thanks to this baby. Just go for this. And you do not even need anything else. 👍🏻
Lovely place with elegant decoration. Biryani was beautifully cooked with burst of wonderful taste of spices! We ordered 70mm special chef dosa with different fillings and every single bite was so amazing..full of flavour! Service was very good!

I've been to Dosa Hut twice as it's nice and close to my work and the perfect lunch option- especially when they've got $10 lunch specials which include a main meal (Indo-Chinese rice, Szechuan noodles or briyani) that's big enough to feed 2 with a soft drink...absolute bargain!
The restaurant has a nice ambiance, not typical of the Clayton are as it's quite clean, decorated and spacious. Service is also pleasant enough and the food is tasty and filling! Favourite so far has been the chicken briyani but I'm hanging out to try the goat briyani and all the different types of dosas!
They also serve kulfi here in a few different flavours such as pistachio, mango and coconut which were all delicious and also tried paan for the first time for those who love eating it as a favourite pastime! Glad I gave it a try but it's probably not my cup of tea (paan is traditionally a betel leaf wrapped around a mixture of betel nut, spices, lime and syrup which give it a pungent smell and taste).
Can't wait to slowly work my way through the menu here!

I liked Dosa Hut, Clayton.
I have been to their Footscray store many years ago and basically avoid the place - dark, dingy, untidy (the neighbouring tables were left uncleaned for the duration of our stay there!!).
Clayton is definitely better - calm, efficient service, the staff were incredibly respectful and super fast and accommodating.
I have to start with a caveat: If you want to taste 'North Indian' food, don't go there - because I can show you a million better places.
For those who might be wondering what this 'Indo-Chinese' (look up Indian Chinese cuisine in your favourite search engine) is, this is a special method of making Chinese like dishes the Indian way (a la 'modern Australian' or 'Asian Australian'). Needless to say, the chilli factor is high in Indo-Chinese. The Indo-chinese offering here is sensational, high on spice and chilli factor and 'just like home' - in fact, the schezwan noodles is on par with the ones you will find in Sarojini Market, INA market (opposite Dilli Haat) (both are incredible street eat places in New Delhi) - *that* good.
South Indian fare: Those that don't know the geography of South India/India - there are 5 states in the South and each can have its own take on the great 'Dosa'. I have a feeling that the Dosa Hut chain is owned by people from Andhra/Telengana - so most of the south Indian dishes have that Telugu flavour. This will be definitely different to say, Saravana Bhavan (Wantirna), which has more of a 'Tamil' taste to its food.
I actually think that the South Indian fare is pretty good (better than its counterpart in Footscray), plus the ambience and the service quality makes it a wholesome package. Not the best dosas I have tasted in town, but pretty good.
I will go again (and again and again...).
The food and service here is fantastic. I've been to India twice and Dosa Hut tops my list for authentic dosas. Love this place. They haven't disappointed yet.
Been to this place twice, during my last visit I order dahi puri, total rip off as it was only dahi n puri with some chutney n paid $7.95 where was the potatos ?? Staff advices us that I get u dosa masala potato stuffing but nah !! We got paan but seemed they were not fresh! On the other side manchurian was tasty n even the fried rice was good too

Visited on a Saturday night and this place was buzzing. Lots of Indian patrons, which is always a great sign. Service was quick once we flagged a server to take our order.
We ordered a mango lassi and a masala tea, both of which were great but were on the smaller side. It also would have been nice to receive the lassi in a glass rather than a plastic cup with a straw.
While the drinks undoubtedly had room for improvement, the food was something to write home about. This place has the best goat biryani in town, and the Mysore dosa and chicken 65 were also delicious.
We had a chat with an elder gentleman as we were leaving who seemed to be the owner, and he told us the restaurant opened just 3 months ago. At many Indian restos, you'll find that the flavours tend to meld together and end up tasting very similar. Not so here. Their food is fresh and flavourful, served in a classy atmosphere. It's great to know that there's now a place in town that we can bring friends and family to for a decent Indian meal.

Only go to place for us for their goat biryani. a true delight always - used to drive up to the west back in the days and glad we have an option so close to home. Although, would not recommend their indo-chinese or south indian food. go only for biryani - My advice!!!
Wow, the 70mm (pretty sure its 700mm long in reality) Masala Dosa is surely 10/10. Mine was cooked to perfection tonight. Washed down with a couple of Haywards 5000 and I was in heaven.
Mango Lassi is at $4 a pop and while it was very tasty they come in a plastic cup filled to an inch from the top so probably a little expensive for the volume you get.
Chicken Manchurian was very good and the Hyderbadi Goat Dum Biryani was wonderful.
Downside is customer service. The waiters were slow and forgetful on this night. They had the tablets/technology and were not particularly busy so not sure why they were so inefficient?
Will definitely be back and hopefully, the customer service will be much better...
My friend took me to this place, and i must say it's an amazing place for dinner or lunch. If you are non veg lover then you must try Garlic Chicken. Its just beyond words. You can order anything eyes closed, it will be good food. !
Tried dosa hut for the first time tonight with hubby. We ordered a puri of some sort and the butter chicken and were disappointed with the flavor, it wasn't a buttery/creamy sauce. Anshumann down the road is definitely the winner for butter chicken. We also ordered the masala dosa combo deal and lamb dosa combo which was delicious and filling. Mango lassi was also nice. Will definitely be back in the future to try the rest of their menu. Nice decor. Good service.
Dosa Hut is one of my favourite Restaurant in Melbourne.. Very happy to see Dosa Hut branch in Clayton near my Suburb..coming to Food we ordered Crispy Goat ,Chicken 65, Goat biryani and Chicken Biryani and in Desert ordered Gulab jamun..food was very delicious .. Service they have provided was excellent ..
They have a huge variety of dishes, from traditional Indian to Asian fusion - indo Chinese, indo Malaysian etc., very authentic. I ordered the Lamb spring roll, Malasi Dosa Combo and the Dahi Puri. The spring roll was quite impressive, crispy on the outside and full of flavour. Although, it was a bit too oily. I really loved their sauces too. The Malasi Dosa was alright, the dosa was thin and soft but the Malasi was a bit bland. The Dahi Puri is served in small shells with sweet and sour yogurt inside. It's refreshing and different. Overall their dishes are tasty delicious. Keep in mind that their portions can be quite big. I ordered 2 dishes and a snack for 2 people and it was more than enough. I got the Spring roll thinking it would be a light snack but they were massive. Prices are reasonable as well, around 10-15AUD per dish. I would definitely try more dishes next time I return.
Masala Dosa stuffing is not good, better to go with Plain Dosa.Hyderabadi style Goat DumBiryani is good, but even better if they serve in elleptical container as the gravy and pieces are right down at the bottom in the bowl.
Chicken 65 Biryani which we tried was really great. Tasted somewhat like Meghna biryani which I used to like when I used to be in Bangalore.
We were happy to see this addition to Clayton eateries as we used to frequent their Footscray branch. Today we tried chicken 65 fried rice, which did not disappoint. The fragrance of spice rice blended with fried chicken makes this dish a winner. We also had goat biryani, medium spicy which is really quite spicy for me (I love spicy food but can't take too much heat), however it was delicious. The goat meat was tender and yoghurt balanced the spicyness. Definitely my fix when I want some yummy Indian cuisine.
Good and decent place for having food at Clapton suburb .. Variety of dosa and Chinese also includes .. Tried chicken fried rice and crispy goat .. Both ver decent and nice .. Lovely food after many days
I was so excited to spot Dosa Hut when i was walking in Clayton, because we LOVE going to the Footsvray one when were in the area.
Being a new restaurant, the decor and service was emmaculate.
I ordered the paper masala dosa, and vadai. The vadai was perfect - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not too spicy.
The dosa was crispy, and the sambar was very good.
The food here was just as good as the other chains. We love our dosa so im sure we will become regulars here. There are so many options, i cant wait to try the rest of the menu!
Had the family pack chicken biryani which was good enough to feed four people. Chicken manchurian was just average.better reserve a table if you are planning to visit on a weekend.
Had great dining experience with my family here yesterday...My children thoroughly enjoyed their 70mm Masala dosas and podi Ghee idlies after long while I relished on the goat Dum biriyani..loved their chutneys n sambar too .The place had great ambience n the service was very hospitable...Though it took some time for the food to be served, We finally appreciated the freshly prepared n deliciously flavoured food that was on our dining table....I would like to come again n definitely recommend it to my friends too.

I've been to several dinner places in Melbourne .. dosa hut simply blew me away...so many varieties of dosas and biryani & staff making us feel like kings and queens...kudos to the managers and to the serving staff. Lovely appealing flower arrangements at the entrance..Just Amazing.Definitely will return again and highly recommend it to all my friends, and family.
