Review That Coffee Shop - Coburg North

Have been travelling around Australia for the last 10weeks. Stumbled onto this place today. One of the friendliest and most relaxed places we’ve been to. Breakfast special today was great. Coffee good. Will be back tomorrow for Mothers Day breakfast.

Delicious sandwiches and great service. The staff were packing up when I came in but were happy to make sandwiches. Will definitely come here again for lunch.

Hands down the best coffee time and time again. The menu choices and quality of the food and the friendly staff is unrivalled anywhere in the area.

Bumped into this coffee place randomly on a Saturday morning! Id say ive had my best mocha here. Their falafel sandwich is just amazing. Ive tried their parma roll and liked it too. I visited again just for the mocha and falafel sandwich! Moderately priced and filling quantity. I am a fan of the 'wink-man' here who makes amazing coffee.. I referred to him by that name coz he winks a lot :) Neat n clean! Lovely staff! Cozy ambience. All in all a great place for coffee, sandwiches n desserts!

Always a good time, friendly service, nice coffee and lunch with mum the other day was great.

I enjoyed the coffee and sandwich . Shame the muffins aren’t homemade on the premises- this cafe has so much potential in an area void of cafes.

We rocked up thinking it would be one of those new modern melbourne cafes but were surprised when it was just a small little family cafe.

We were pretty keen on a decent coffee and the standard smashed avocado you need a first home buyers grant to pay for, but we gave it a shot anyway.

Coffee was mad, like, it touched my soul. It might’ve been the grogginess of my morning being lifted away when the magic caffeine potion touched my lips.
The smashed avocado was awesome, the avo was fresh, the tomatoes were nice, the vinegar wasn’t overpowering, the eggs were poached masterfully, and the extra salmon didn’t have that ugly taste some places have, it was actually decent.

Very nice place, good workers, nice quiet spot. You should deffs suss this place out for some good brekky or coffee.

Anothe local Coburg cafe. Short minutes away from Merlynston station, so you could have breakfast or grab a coffee before catching the train.
Smoked salmon omelette was delicious and very filling paired with crunchy buttery bread. Service wasgoof and staff were friendly.

Very average café with the usual food and coffee. Portions are good for the price and the service is good as well. I'll definitely be coming back though seeing as there's no other café with a breakfast menu in the area.

Friendly staff and manager.

Menu is a bit confusing as they have a different menu on the wall.

But all the breakfasts/ savoury foods I've tried there have been reasonably priced and quite tasty.

Its one of those small local cafes that have a great vibe, and to top that they do decent coffee and cakes! Enjoyed our visit there. Will try breakfast next time.

Great local cafe. Delicious coffee. Homemade food is full of flavour and well priced. Recommend the pies (and can't wait to try a sausage roll). Scones with jam and cream a delicious takeaway bite too. All the other food looks hearty and tasty. The fitout is a bit lacking but if you can look past it you will be pleasantly surprised. Oh, and nice friendly staff :)

Always very friendly, personable service. They make you feel like a long lost friend every time you pop in. Today I thought I'd try the prawn dumplings. Unfortunately, they only had three dumplings left, so they let me know, and created a seafood basket with salt & pepper calamari and the best battered flathead. Crispy, crunchy batter, and super moist flakey fish. Love this place.

Great local cafe. Good place to go to after dropping a child off at kinder. Friendly staff. Brilliant coffee. Poached eggs are very good. Very accommodating and they don't mind if you feed other children (twins) some BYO snacks while enjoying your coffee and eggs.

Great little local full of friendly staff and hearty meals. Food and drink is basic but sometimes thats all you need. The lasagne was tasty, lots of layers. Good coffee too.

This cafe is a gem. I frequent this cafe alone or with others, for breakfast, lunch or just coffee. Food is always excellent. The one standout was Lamb Shanks, though I seem to recall it was one shank. Could have devoured a second for sure. Coffee is always excellent. Service can be a little difficult depending on how busy they are. It can get very crowded as space is limited but overall this is a place I enjoy returning to over and over.

Milkshake V Thickshake. There is nothing worse than asking for a THICKshake and getting a warm cup of chocolate milk. They took my warm cup of milk to return with another warm cup of milk, that wasnt even chocolate this time. Not happy at all. A milkshake should be cold, correct, and a THICKshake should be icey cold. ?

Love Good Coffee. Such a trendy boutique cafe in my local area with great coffee, amazing brunch menu and excellent customer service. The smiles in here are highly contagious - be warned...

Great catering service. Thank you Green Pepper for catering for my mum's 80th birthday last weekend. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all our guests. In fact all our guests have contacted since the function and commented on the great quality and quantity of food. There was so much food that we've been eating leftovers for the last few days.
Thank you to all the staff for all your help in getting this organised.

-----06 Jun, 2014-----

This is what Merlynston is about. Don't listen to the negative comments, these people are probably are more than likely the type that whinge wherever they go.
The staff at Green Pepper are super friendly and go out of their way to welcome their customers. I get my coffee every morning at GP and all the staff are great.
The food is great and the atmosphere is warm and friendly.
Highly recommended.

Serious food and friendly staff always a win win situation!!!

Awesome food, in love with the home made sausage rolls. But it seems like the waitresses make up their own prices. One day charged me $10.50 for a ham and salad roll, the next week another waitress charged me $8.00 for the same thing. Need to check the prices before i pay next time.

Top cafe!! Love going here, best staff and food in the area!
Beautiful hot fresh food and yummy sandwiches & sweets..
Will definately make this my go to cafe!!
CJlikesfood
Good food, the prices are pretty good but the waiter/ess are a bit untidy & a bit all over the place. I had eggs bene with salmon, it was great. A friend had the omelette, it was nice but should've been served with toast. Coffees were average but drinkable.
Tanya
I grab a coffee at Green Pepper Cafe every morning before I jump on the train to work. The coffee is great, the staff are friendly, the sandwiches are fresh. I couldn't ask for more in a local cafe. 4.5 Stars.
Loyal Customer
Went into green pepper the other day I have been a customer for over 10 years I was sad to hear that the owner had sold after almost 11 years. Every-time I have been into GP I have always received 100%customer service and the food always fresh and great coffee and did I mention cheap very cheap. I eat a lot out and most of the cafés are expensive with artificial food at least here I know the chicken schnitzel is fresh and real. I said to the owner I'm sad you sold and he said me to but it's time to move on everything must come to an end, my customers have become a family community after so many years but that's life I will defitnely miss my customers and I want to thank them for supporting us and being loyal and sticking by us all these years. Well done green pepper you have done an impeccable job you will surely be missed good luck with whatever path you take :)
Cafe Lover
The atmosphere is pathetic and eerie ..
Good food bad attitude . Specially the owner of the cafe . Wouldn't reccomend it to anyone .

Great Quality & Friendly Service. I've only been a new customer since May 2013 and I must say that quality and friendly service is amazing. The staff are always courtesy and the cooks are pretty good to say the least and produce great homestyle & restaurant quality meals. Congratulations to Anthony and all the staff!!

A Village Hub. The Green Pepper Cafe is a drawcard for the little village centre of Merlynston. Want to meet someone— suggest the Green Pepper and they know where to come. Want a quiet spot to read a paper or write an email—the Green Pepper. Whether you are with old friends, or making new friends, or simply being on your own, Anthony and his friendly staff will make you feel at home. A coffee, or sandwich or a hot roast, whatever you want you can get it at the Green Pepper. Always freshly made, always tasty, the food is great and the coffee hot. Eat inside or out in the fresh air, the Green Pepper is a great place to be.

Didn't really expect much from a cafe that was located in a side street! I heard many great reviews so I tried it out! Went for breakfast this morning and their vegetarian breakfast is to die for! Freshly made on the spot and not expensive at all! I walked out very full and satisfied! I highly recommend Green Pepper cafe! :)

Service exceptional. Food oh so scrumptious. Welcoming atmosphere! 10/10 will be back with all my friends!

The food is great, chef clearly knows what he is doing. However the let down is the atmosphere, you walk in to people yelling at their staff in Italian which makes you feel quite awkward, you are greeted however everyone seems to have no idea what There jobs actually are in result I had the chef serve my food to me as all other waitresses were out the back! Won't be going back if I wanted that service I'd work in a kitchen myself.

I was sadly disappointed both times I went here which is a shame as it's my local cafe. Service was poor, food ok-ish but very overpriced for what it was.... Won't be going again.
Jo
They reopened after renos this Feb. The place looks great, foods always fresh and the coffee's delicious. They even have a separate grinder for decaf. Also, fresh juices since there's a new 'slow juicer'. Love it!
