Had a great family meal there this afternoon. Friendly staff and other diners. The fresh Aleppo meat pizza was sensational, as was everything. Washed down with the ayran, perfect. Actually I finished up with a strong flat white coffee, and that was great too. Thanks Zaatar.
I usually go to bakery near my house just convenient. Today i went in because i felt like zaatar and today u were doing somethings for the good Friday appeal. I purchase 5 zaatar not heated around 5ish today and now i just had one. OMG i haven't had one like this since 6 years ago. Soft beautiful and yumm. Walking in, this place was visually appealing and very modern.
We went to place our order and server had taken down some incorrect items and also couldn't understand what we were ordering. However, after this order was repeated and rectified, we had a great experience.
The service was fairly quick, and the food was very tasty. The chai latte also had a perfect amount of spice and was different to other ones I have tried.

Square pizza is kinda like a staple for me. I like the toppings and it doesn't taste too sharp for me. So it's good either for breakfast, or just a quick meal in the arfo. I used to come here almost every week before I move from Melbourne. The place is cozy and they serve halal food. I also love the desserts too, yum! Other food is okay, but square pizza & the desserts are just heavenly.
Breakfast of champions the cheese pizza had a generous portion of filling which was wonderful the Lebanese Omelette was average but I wouldn’t order it again. But the zartar with yogurt tomato & fresh mint was an absolute delight to consume. Highly recommend coming here

I love their breakfasts - but make sure you take away some pizzas or pie with you, as they make the perfect lunch later on. This place is so reasonably priced, that I always over order- but the food is so delicious that I always leave full and happy.
A contemporary take on traditional Lebanese bakery cafe with great coffee and even better food. First of all, they have bio cheese!!! Can you tell I'm excited by this? Also, delicious dairy cheeses- I like them too. The kaak (Lebanese bagel) is a top pick. Add haloumi for sure. Also a fan of all the little fried mezze, especially the pumpkin kibbe and potato and pea ball, dipped in labne or hummus. Lastly, how could you not try a pastry of some sort? Mini or big, vegan or dairy cheese, they're all so good. But if you're visiting alone or have limited funds, one of the combos lets you try the most for the best price.
Kunafeh - A Palestinian cheese pastry soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup. The pastry is heated in butter, margarine, palm oil, or traditionally semneh and then spread with soft white cheese, such as Nabulsi cheese, and topped with more pastry. Quite sweet with the syrup but at least there was an option to control how much syrup you want to pour as it tastes bland without it. The syrup really brings out the flavour of the dessert.
The chicken and mushroom squares are the best! Juicy mushrooms and the chicken is soo nice in the pastry.

Been here a few times with family. The food is decent (not amazing but good enough) and very reasonably priced. Good atmosphere for families and friendly service. Nice place to drop by for lunch on the way back from shopping or the park.

This place is packed during the Sunday brunch hour. I ordered the Big Breakfast platter to try their special breakfast dip. I did not regret it.
The breakfast was served on a wooden board with a pan of ‘scrambled eggs’, a pan of Turkish Sausages and a plate with cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, pita bread and yoghurt dip. The scrambled eggs wasn’t really scrambled, but it was good. The breakfast dip was very yoghurty and it went well with the cucumber and olives. I thoroughly enjoyed the healthy breakfast. A fantastic start to the day.
Service was quick and coffee was great. I will be back to try the mezze plates!

Delicious food and coffee! 😍 The price of the food is cheap and the interior is very neat; no wonder it’s always packed during lunchtime! Went there for lunch and ordered the meat pizza (it had pomegranate molasses, which gives it a great touch of sweet and sour flavour), which is served by being folded in half (pizza base is Lebanese bread I assume).
Finally a Lebanese restaurant with beautiful and clean interior. The staff are kind too, serving the coffee well. The vanilla ice cream for Affogato is different from other cafes, and blends well with the espresso coffee! Mocha and cappuccino tasted good 👍🏼 Would love to visit again if we get the chance to eat when visiting Coburg 😊

Gosh I love this place. The food is consistently good and unlike most of the other great Middle Eastern eateries in the area, this place doesn't look like 1970. Cheap, close to home and my daughter eats the food.

Mezza comes with the lamb, potatoes and pumpkin mezzas that served with eggplant dip and couscous salad, all at your own choice! The Lebanese omelette is a mild taste vegetarian dish. Rice pudding served best for moody day as it comes with a rose taste. The twisted sugar sweet is a must try dessert with your coffee.

What a find! Weren't really sure what we wanted to have for lunch, but had reason to be in the north so stopped in Coburg. This place caught our eye because it's large and quite shiny, which actually nearly put us off. But a look at the clientele changed our minds, a mixture of families and lone diners, along with groups of all ages and cultures. So we sat and decided to try a Lebanese pie each and share the 6 piece mezze platter with dip and salad. I loved all but one of the mezze, the eggplant dip was divine and the salad included pickled beetroot and rocket, fetta, and maybe cracked wheat? Anyway very nice. But the pies were where this place really shines. My husband had the spinach (his description, 'Perfect') and I had the chicken. Wow that was a taste explosion! Chicken, mushroom, cheese, but the spices were delicious! We bought our son a vegetable lebanese bagel (as it's described), and he loved that too. Will be back! They also have rice pudding. Maybe next time!

It's funny when you are sitting happily with your plate of food, but still managing to suffer from envy for the other plates passing!
As a family we managed to order a few things to try. Can I just say, at the outset, the bread is fantastic. When you couple it ever-so-simply with a dip of such high standard (I ordered eggplant, but humus arrived) the most smooth creamy, and delightful humus I have ever tried - even better than my own, you know you're on a winner. I must return to try the other dips. This though was part of the three mezze, so I also had three cheese sambousik, which were as good as any I'[d ever tried.
Our youngest went with tuna pie, and polished it all off with a smile. The other two went with some meat in the form of the meat pizza (made with lamb) which middle child found spicy and good. The oldest child chose the Aleppo version with pomegranate molasses which ensured her silence for the duration!
The Lebanese omelette pizza was a win with my o/h who also enjoyed his cappu there enough to go back for seconds. We shared the soujok pizza, which included Turkish sausage, green capsium (not my fave, but it worked here) and halloumi apparently - it didn't look like it, but I am not used to seeing halloumi grated, so I guess that was it.
Somehow we made room for two doughnuts for the five of us to share - there we were, with big smiles our lips sugar-coated.
Wonderful, quick, efficient and very friendly service, prices are crazy good value.

I had the mezze which is your choice of three bites with a dip and some Turkish bread. I got some babagnaoush which had a subtle smoky flavour and the creaminess of eggplant. The pumpkin fritter was sublime with delicious chickpea encased in some sweet thick tomato sauce. The lamb pastry contained tender bites of lamb.
I also got myself some mammoul which is a Turkish semolina pastry.
The establishment also sells middle eastern muffin which look like scones and various other delights including beautiful hearty salads. Too many options.

Great falafel. Love those pie and pizza and its all reasonably priced. Gets a bit busy during weekends and peak hours so expect to wait in que. Great service and on a plus side coffee isn't too bad either.

Although nice i find it to be a bit dry and hard. Would be nice if it was fried fresh and came out crispy. Toum (garlic) dip is delicious. Also love their rice pudding dessert - cold, creamy, fragrant - can definitely smell & taste the rose water & most importantly tasty. Very authentic middle eastern dessert.

Came here on a Sunday. Pretty quiet for breakfast/brunch spot although they are open for lunch and dinner. We got the felafel zoccacia, mezza (3 mezza with eggplant dip) and the big breakfast that had sojuk as well as 2 kaaks (Lebanese bagels) which was not what I thought it was going to be. They were all very good but nothing extraordinary. For the price you get a lot of food. The long black coffee was very good and not watery at all; very strong.
Overall I'd say this place was 7/10 if I'm being generous. I'd come back in a few months for convince alone.

Intrigued by the horde of customers, we came to the conclusion that there's no good or bad time to visit Zaatar - there's always a queue. Once you get pass the queue, it's smooth sailing thereon. Food is served super quick, even quicker than the coffee. More importantly it is so affordable. Ordered the 6 mezze, dip and salad, the big breakfast and 2 large coffees, we left with bursting stomach and enough change from $50 to order another meal. Tasty and fresh, Zaatar is the epitome of delicious cheap eats. Our skinny lattes weren't especially memorable but most definitely palatable. Not that we are complaining. We came here for hearty Middle Eastern breakfast and we got exactly that.
Amazing value for money @zaatar.coburg $13 for 6 mezze items, dip, salad and bread! All very delicious and only $13.50 I will definitely be looking to come again soon!
I like the place and I used to dine there when it was Zorbas. I prefer the A1 to be honest, the menu is a bit more filling and too my liking. Still, this is very good.

It was time to catch up with the K sisters and Miss Pear and today it was brunch at their favourite Lebanese brunch place - zaatar on Sydney Road in Coburg. Unfortunately, Miss Pear wasn’t able to make it so it was a double date with the K sisters. . The K sisters got there first and got a table by the window. Mr D and I got there and Miss Candy and Mr D went up to order a brunch feast (if I get any of the food wrong, my apologies since all I did was eat HOHOHO!). When they came back, the table numbers were on wooden spoons which was so adorable!
Out at the infamous @zaatar.coburg on Sydney Rd. Brewing with a South American/Ethiopian bean. Fresh fruity and a berry after pallet. No single origins here but consistently good. 4/5 ☕☕☕☕. Try their #kibbeh as well. Great muchies (x3 kibbeh, bread, hummus for $6!) great seating, bench seats for express lunches, dining tables for business meetings and families and everything in between.

A friend and I went to Zataar for breakfast and ordered the cheese pie and the 3 mezza + dip + salad option all for $15 (with a coffee). We chose the eggplant dip which was amazing, there was so much flavour in it! The cheese pie was also beautiful, crispy on the outside, soft and salty on the inside. Cheap, delicious food is always a win-win.

Had the opportunity to experience Middle Eastern cuisine today, notably Lebanese food. And I was not disappointed. I was recommended the 6 Mezza + Dip + Salad for $13.50. Definitely value for money. The Lamb Sambousik was absolutely tastey. Along with the tabouli salad and humus dip. A very filling meal if you're looking for something different from your normal choice of souvlaki or kebab. I didn't get the chance to order their pies which I believe are their hero dishes. At least I have somethings to look forward next time.
The Aleppo Meat Pizza ($4) is a bit different, and a bit more gourmet than the usual offerings. Folded over like a quesadilla, the soft bread sandwiched a juicy mix of minced lamb, onions, and spices. What really made it pop though was the fruity tang of the pomegranate molasses, and the way the oven caramelised it into brittle toffee at the edges.
Been wanting to check this place out for a long time. Out for a long walk the other night, needed something light but filling for a hot hight. All the staff were very friendly, the restaurant was very clean and my Mezze plate was nice. 2 of the Mezze were not cooked enough and still cold inside though.

This place is steps away from my house which is dangerous as its too easy to visit every day for their delicious coffee and food. Been numerous times and never had anything bad to say. This place is awesome. What used to be zorbas is now a great middle eastern place with some wicked coffee. Oh man. Hot sauce on all the tables and the dudes behind the counter are so polite and cheery. If you're in coburg and hungry, it's worth a check out for sure.
I've been a here a few times and i've got to say, they make the best Zaatar, they've got the zesty/herb balance just right. They make some nice food here and have some interesting rosewater puddings and other desserts worth trying if it's not your usual fare. The coffee depending on who makes it can be great tasting or a bit too hot, i've had both examples. The service is friendly enough. The interior decor is great a modern twist on the middle eastern influence, it kind of make the rest of the places in Sydney Rd look very dull.
Best middle eastern pizzas in the northern suburbs. Came here a while back and remember it being delicious. Friendly young service with a smile. Fairly cheap. Can get pretty chockers but they have plenty of seating inside. Good corner location on Sydney Rd....they'd be killing it. Keep it up guys!
I tried one of each of the Mezza and really enjoyed the potato, pea, ricotta one with hummus dip. The lamb kibbe was also good. Also tried the Kaak (Lebanese bagel) with halloumi, which is a sesame seed bread. Nice but not as good as the cheese pie from A1 bakery. Looking forward to going back and trying the Zataar pizza and maybe the pastries next time around. There's a good amount of seating and didn't have trouble getting a seat for 3 people Sat lunchtime.

* Missed it the first time around, but they have a cheese pie which is fantastic! A1. The plain Turkish bread is awesome. I also tried the eggplant dip but it's a bit too much tahini and not enough eggplant.

Great atmosphere and structural design, warm Lebanese setting for all cultures to enjoy. Food is prompt and service is delightful. Food is priced well and quality is delicious. The zaatar is ironically amazing to go with the name. Recommended for all to try if aren't regulars for breakfast or lunch already.
Best place to go for an amazing Lebanese breakfast. The pies are always made fresh and the service is great. Can get busy and crowded but that's because the food is so good!
Nice place for a casual cheap meal. I've only had the sandwiches, but have found them good value and flavoursome, if a little on the salty side. Don't expect to be wowed, but you definitely won't regret eating here.

Zaatar is run by the children of Chafic Choueiri, the man who opened A1 Bakery all those years ago. The food revolves around Middle Eastern pastries, meze, zoccacia (a foccacia style zaatar bread) and a few other bits and bobs. It’s tasty, quality, cheap and well worth your time.
