Review Bluestone American Bbq - Coburg

Super delicious. We decided after our first sip of cherry bomb cocktail that we would be back to try everything. We couldn’t keep our eyes off the food coming out of the kitchen. My husband has already lined up his mates for a boys dinner or two. Everything was tasty, fresh and served with a smile.

100/10!!! Best American bbq I've had so far in Melbourne. Lots of flavour and the staff were so lovely. Best dishes were the pork belly, pulled pork, southern fried chicken, ribs and THE TANGY CREOLE SLAW (our fave non meat dish 👌) We got Feast 3 (2 people ordering), which we thought we would be fine getting through - first two rounds we were fine but the 3rd .... that was a tough one. We will definitely be back.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night and got feast #3. It came with chips, pork belly, fried chicken, mac & cheese croquettes, cheddar sausages, chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and beef ribs. So yes, it was a feast. The food was super good and it all came around the same time and although the wait was a bit long, it was worth it for sure. I would come back, like seriously, I would come back.

We were after American BBQ knowing we were visiting the area, so booked 5 days in advance (were not many spots left). We ordered Feast 2 for 2 people and boy it was a lot of food. So glad we had a light lunch in preparation. The best was the chicken and all the sides, the chicken paste was delicious. Everything else was good, but not so good I would be back as it's so out of my way. The staff were attentive, especially the female staff member who kept closing the door to outside when people or other staff left it open (was a cold night). I found the smoke flavouring a bit bland (didn't really pop like other American BBQ places I have visited) and the pork was dry. We also smoke our own meats at home, so we are a bit particular about what we like and don't like.

Genuine American style BBQ... every element including the hot peppers...the cornbread chicken wings... brisket was amazing! I definitely think the pork ribs and brisket is the best things they do. Great staff! Same there is no pumpkin pie. I will need to try the the other desserts.

Dined in tonight #3 menu platter option. Great option to try many different menu items. Service...5 stars! Absolutely lovely staff. You cannot fault the quality of their ingredients, beautiful meat with amazing execution and presentation. We were so impressed. The one critique I have to make... some of the sauces that cover the meat I personally found quite jarring, acidic.. I think from vinegar? It took away from any smokey flavour for us. This was the only slight disappointment tonight. Have to say though, had the best sausage I have ever eaten. Smoked beef and cheese sausage.. WOW! It was amazing and we will be back for sure.

Super excited to see an American BBQ set up in Coburg. The staff were extremely friendly and food came out within a reasonable amount of time frame considering we had a group of 10.! Overall it was pretty good. The pulled lamb, beef brisket, wedges, char grilled peppers and the mac and cheese were the highlight. The chilli sauce that accompanied the dishes was superb. The beef ribs (which was cooked perfectly), potato mash and the Jambalaya however felt short of flavors and were bland and found the sauce base a bit to heavy. Definitely worth the try if you want something a bit different. Would recommend! Once again thanks your hospitality Al. We found this place while searching for American BBQ joints. We ordered the pitmaster's pick 1, Cuban pulled pork & sweet potato chips. The meats were delicious-juicy & tender with a nice smoky flavor. The staff were very friendly, allowed us to take pics of the smoker & even explained the cooking process. The food came out pretty quickly as well. Will definitely visit again that too probably on a Tuesday when they have a similar deal for $12.50pp!

Me and my partner celebrated our birthday in here with friends and family, the food were delicious with reasonable price, the staff very help full and friendly . the meat so tender, we really cleaned all our plates. you wont disappointed. we highly recommend for dinner and we will visit again.

Great place, great staff, delicious food, big serves and great chilli sauce! Such a surprise to go somewhere where the staff are so pleasant and where you can tell the chef in person how good his place is. Will be going to get those ribs again real soon!

Service was amazing, one waitress even said "thank you for your patience" hilariously uneccessary, our food came out so quick! Great portion to price ratio, and everything was delicious.

My husband and I are American expats and have been searching Melbourne for decent BBQ. After many failed attempts we found Bluestone. It's authentic American BBQ and the brisket is always perfect. Don't waste your time and $ at places like Fancy Hanks. Bluestone's homemade habanero hot sauce at the table makes it what BBQ joints should be.

Lovely team in there and the food was excellent! All came out very quickly despite being a Saturday night so it was busy in there. Really great selection of everything in the pick 3- worth a try!! Save some room for dessert too!

Went there this afternoon as I had been meaning to go there as I live for American BBQ. I don't think I have the adequate vocabulary to describe just how good this place is. Extremely generous portions, extremely generous pricing and everything was cooked to perfection. Please support these guys their service was phenomenal and there was absolutely nothing you could fault about the food. Brilliant experience, will be coming back regularly.

The Cuban sandwich was very authentic, and the best Mac and cheese I have ever had. 5 stars

Brisket was overcooked, dry and not pink at all in the middle. The equivalent of a steak cooked Medium. Pretty disappointed and would not recommend this dish if cooked this way. The chicken and pulled pork was very good however, and would recommend those. Great friendly service and still an enjoyable night.

I’ve eaten here twice now and ordered takeaway once. So that’s an indication that there’s a solid chance I’ll keep going back for more. I play around with a meat smoker at home and have eaten at a few different smokehouses now, but am far from an experienced source when it comes to american bbq. The best description I can give Bluestone’s food is American bbq done differently, or ‘with a twist’ if you will. Is this a bad thing? Good heavens no. I often hear people whine about pricing in smokehouses and the food seeming expensive for what arrives on your plate. Let’s not forget, they slow cook this stuff for many hours; so there’s some serious costs involved here. Good golly is it worth it in the end.<br/>I’ve had the Tuesday pitmaster special a couple of times now, and at $15 you’re gonna struggle to find better bbq value for money. I’m a meat fan, so I’ve taken the initiative to diversify with the pit master pack and add some brisket to the mix for...research purposes. The brisket isn’t what I’ve experienced in the past at smokehouses, cut thicker and topped with a house sauce/gravy. As I said before, different sure ain’t a bad thing here. It’s still super tender without using the thicker slice to hide behind over smoking the brisket. The sauce adds just a little something extra as well, so that can stay. Chicken, links, grits, fried Mac n cheese...what more does one need in life. It’s all super tasty and seems to warm you from the inside of your soul. If I was going to add any improvement, I’d say maybe some more spicy oil on the Nashville hot chicken. It was still tasty as hell, but just needed that extra bit of spicy love. As with most bbq it can be rich and heavy, so do yourself a favour and get some slaw to cut through it all.<br/><br/>Summary...awesome food, quick service, good parking out the back, pleasant staff. Keep it up team :)

Just ordered takeaway, always wanted to dine in but never got around to it. Wow, the food was amazing. Cuban pork was divine. Definitely one of our new favourite bbq place and will be going back for more.

It was perfect for sharing and you get to try a variety of smoke and bbq meats. Our platter arrived and the portions were good and perfect for sharing. <br/>It consist of smoked brisket, jerk chicken, cuban pork,Pit braised pulled lamb, Smoked cheddar sausage, Tangy creole slaw, Fire roasted red peppers, Pickles, Stone ground grits, Mac and cheese (CG), Cos salad and chips. One advice is to go hungry to enjoy the amazing feast. <br/>I could not decide on a favourite as the meat were cooked well and they were tender and nice. In terms of flavours, they have definitely got them right all together. I like good smoked meat and this restaurant has all the right equipment to make it right. <br/><br/>We started w a Coburg Lager as you do when in Coburg lol and this is a great beer. <br/><br/>Then we ordered “The Feast” feed me menu. This was a fantastic selection of crispy pork belly which was cooked soo well. Yumm<br/><br/>The we had some pork spare ribs,southern fried chicken, double smoked brisket, Cuban pork,<br/>Jerk chicken, smoked cheddar sausage, tangy creole slaw, fire roasted peppers, pickles, stone ground grits, Mac n cheese, cos salad and French fries! Phew hahaha.<br/><br/>There were so many highlights and I’m not going to name them all lol. So we ordered baquet 3 as we wanted to try almost everything it comes out in 3 sections the first 2 were good but the star of show the brisket and ribs were on the dry side. It didn't really wow me the food was ok but I would highly recommend restraurant cheek instead for good smoky bbq

Being from the states I was thinking that no bbq could be as good as in Texas but I was wrong! The brisket was the best I've had in my life, not to mention the whole feast 3 was amazing. The highlights were the brisket, the pork ribs and the service. We'll be back!

Excellent American bbq, the beef brisket is the best so tender and juicy it melts in my mouth, highly recommended.

Given their high reviews we decided to give this place a shot however left hungry and disappointed- food presentation and unreasonable portion size can def be better! We didn’t order the banquet and chose to order separately but were quickly disappointed when only ONE plain looking sausage came to our table with nothing else added on the plate(costed $9) Other dishes were very small portions also. I’m not a big eater either as well- petite size. <br/>To be fair the food itself is good and service is above average- the girl serving us were very attentive and friendly. They just need to reflect on portion sizes

Everything was average but the pork bbg rib was too salty and too much sauce on it.

My first attempt to try Bluestone was a fail as we could smell the deliciousness down the street walking towards the restaurant only to find it was shut. Second time lucky, we were able to get a table without reservation on a Sunday night. Staff are wonderful and the menu has a decent variety of options. I recommend the pork belly, definitely get the chips and the brisket for that melt in your mouth satisfaction.

I MIGHT have gotten sick from these guys at the start of the year. Was wonderful. Despite that the food tasted good and is cheap compared to other American BBQ restaurants.

This place is a gem in Coburg! We ordered chicken burger, fries and potato salad. The potato salad was okay but the fries and burgers were absolutely yum! Food is definitely worth the money. The place has got good ambience and the staff are very friendly. Will definitely go back again 💯.

We were treated to the Pitmaster’s Pick 3, Banoffee Pie, Lime, Lemon, Pear Tart and the Cherry Bomb, Ginger Paloma cocktails.. what a feast! We had to take some home to enjoy later! If you’re looking for a great spot for American BBQ look no further than @bluestone_american_bbq ! They have the tastiest meats, (we treated ourselves to the Pitmaster’s picks!) With meats like Texas style pulled pork, southern fried chicken and yearling beef short rib, it’s a meat lovers dream! Finishing with the pecan pie was perfection and I don’t really know a lot place in Melbourne who would have this so it was definitely a treat for us! Will be back 🙌

Everything was nice and tasty, although I couldn’t quite differentiate between a lot of it, meaning that the flavours all starts to blend into one another. Plenty of food included in the banquet but it’s rather pricey too.

I had been recommended this restaurant from a friend of mine and called to make a booking for dinner which I recommend not leaving it to last minute like I did. I didn’t have any luck in getting a time that I wanted for dinner so I left it for another night to experience this restaurant. <br/>To my delight Amanda called me back 5 minutes later and her large group wanted to be situated more in the back of the restaurant so with a bit of a shuffle we had an opening and jumped on it and got a decent time of 6:30pm <br/>Guys the food matched the great service not to forget our cocktails. We should’ve taken photos. We will next time.

My friend and I visited Bluestone recently and we were treated to the most delicious spread and cocktails. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the cosiness and you can smell the meats cooking away in the huge BBQ's.  Not only do you feel the warmth from the BBQ's but you instantly feel this from the staff and Al who is the owner.  <br/><br/>We started off with some really delish cocktails, Ginger Paloma which I had and the Apple Pie for my friend.  I have to say that the Ginger Paloma was one of the best cocktails I have had recently, it tasted amazing and it looked beautiful.  If you are a fan of ginger, then this is the drink for you!<br/><br/>To eat we shared Pick 3 from the Pickmasters Picks, if you are hungry and want food as far as the eye can see then you should order this. The meats were cooked to perfection and the marinades super yum.<br/><br/>This is a must if you love meat! A big thank you to Al for the invite, it was a pleasure to meet with you and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Delicious and filling American bbq joint! We got the pork ribs which was heavenly. I felt the Texas beef brisket was a bit too salty but my partner loved it as it was soft, tender, and came with a nice bbq sauce. The portions were huge. We also got the pumpkin salad which was slightly pricey for what it was. The sweet potato fries were fresh and crispy!

I can see why this place has such a high rating. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, always serving us with a smile, which genuinely makes such a difference. The other great thing about this place, is that not everyone on the table has to do the banquet, which is great given how much food we ended up with! Between 4 of us, we opted for 2 of the biggest banquet, with a few extra sides added in. It was a great way to try basically everything on the menu. My favorite meats were the pork ribs, the beef brisket, the applewood chicken (so incredibly tender). And fav sides were Mac and cheese bites, pumpkin salad, corn with a wonderful sauce and chili cheese fries. The brisket burger we added was nice, but the bun was a bit dry. And it would have been nice if there was more regular water refills! But otherwise it was a wonderful dinner, and we will most definitely be back.

This place is phenomenal!!! Food, staff and atmosphere 5 star! The only down side is it comes to and end. Even when you get take away the food is hot and tasty when it gets to you. Keep up the great work guys 🙌🙌

Wanted to try this as it’s so highly rated on Zomato. We ordered the beef ribs, pulled pork, sausage for kids, corn cheese, pecan pie and bannoffie pie. Ribs were amazing and servings were huge and great value. Overall, a nice meal if you feel like American bbq.

Bluestone is a hidden gem in the heart of Coburg, and you honestly have to come try it!<br/><br/>Upon arrival, we were hit by the smell of bbq meat (which had us salivating) and greeted kindly by our waitress who made us feel very welcome throughout our entire meal. <br/><br/>We decided on the Pickmasters Pick 3, and boy did we have a feast! The set basically gives you a taste of everything - and trust me, you definitely don’t one to miss it!<br/><br/>If I had to pick my favourites, it would have to be the Crispy Pork Belly, Pork Spare Ribs, and the Texas Style Brisket. <br/><br/>The Pork Belly was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had! It was so tender, breaking apart at the touch of the fork. And that crackling was incredible!<br/><br/>The Ribs were cooked so perfectly - falling off the bone. It was sweet, juicy, fatty and flavourful. So so so delicious!<br/><br/>The Brisket was incredible - literally the most tender brisket I’ve had - I didn’t even need a knife to cut it! <br/><br/>The Southern Fried Chicken was very crispy on the outside, yet so juicy on the inside. The food here is sensational, topped off by really great staff. We had Pick 3 because we couldn't decide what to eat. All the dishes were delicious, and really large portions. The southern fried chicken, beef brisket, and applewood chicken were stand outs.

Just had dinner there and one of the best places in the northern suburbs I’ve been in a while. <br/>Had the brisket, short rib, southern fried chicken and chilli cheese fries. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and comfortable. It was nice and cosy especially for a winters night and even though our waiter was training to be at the front he did an amazing job. The food was beyond what we hoped for with perfect amount of sauces. The chicken considering it was ’southern fried’ was still light and satisfying- easy to eat. The chilli cheese fries were also some of the best I’ve had and the cocktails just topped off the experience. <br/>Please go and try when you’re in the mood for bbq and a chill night out.

I have only experienced Bluestone through Uber eats. Their brisket, Mac and cheese burger was delightful and their chilli cheese fries the same. The chicken burger was more simple, but still very tasty. Edit** had ordered a pitmasters pick and found a nearly-outrageous amount of salt in my brisket.

The Best American BBQ I've Ever Had........<br/><br/>It's impossible for the two large BBQ Smokers not to catch your eye as you enter this restaurant, before you're greeted by the very passionate and friendly waiter and chef. The staff here are highly knowledgeable about their menu and can offer suggestions of what to order based on your preferences.<br/><br/>Before thinking about food I got stuck straight in to the drinks menu by ordering a Strawberry Kiss, Prosecco based cocktail. It was really enjoyable and had the ideal balance of sweet and savoury flavours. Bluestone BBQ has a full spirits menu too, with a special focus on Whiskeys including American, Australian & International Menus.<br/><br/>We ordered the Pickmasters Pick 2 for two, a Potato Salad, Crispy Pork Belly and the Special Loaded Chilli Cheese Fries. Yes all four because I couldn't just pick one! Overall, the restaurant absolutely NAILS the ideal cooking of meat until it's tender. Each dish is completely unique in flavour and embraces the slow cooked and smoking methods that have been used. The meat is succulent and juicy, just the way it should be.<br/><br/>I'd also highly recommend the BBQ Street Corn which was perfectly cooked and coated in a tasty delicate sauce, topped with cheese. And the Coral Leaf salad was fresh and crunchy.<br/><br/>Diego and his team have evidently put a lot of effort and time in to creating an extensive menu to suit meat-lovers and vegetarians alike. I could feel the passion and attention that has been put in to this restaurant experience. The dishes were presented with thought and impressive attractiveness.<br/><br/>Whether it be for lunch or dinner, this restaurants food & drinks menu makes it the ideal place for small or large groups to feast. The food here is sooooooo good!!!!!! The service was friendly and fast! The atmosphere was nice, lighting just right and so nice and warm on such a cold night. Price was great!! Perfect winter night with southern style American bbq. Visited on a cold weekend. We had the largest feast they offered for 2! It was definitely a very hearty meal. Our meal had everything from ribs to fried chicken and sides of salad and corn. The sauce was slightly salty and slightly sweet just like a real American bbq.

Friday night was busy but the noise wasn’t overbearing - a perfect Friday date night. The staff were so welcoming and lovely - they did not look annoyed at all when I was around 30 mins past the booking time! The fries were fried and seasoned perfectly and matched the burger seamlessly (as intended).<br/><br/>I also tried the pork ribs which were sensational. One of the best American bbq restaurants in Melbourne. The meats were smoked to perfection. The meats were tender, smokey and juicy. My favourite were the crispy pork belly and brisket. If you love your smoked meats this is the place to go. They have smoker and they offer meats of all varieties and kinds. I thought everything was well prepared and had the option of some great sides and drinks. I don't travel out this way often but I will now I know where the best American BBQ is. ***Disclaimer: although the restaurant has generously invited me to their restaurant this review is still based on my genuine opinion.

Our favorites were the pork belly, briskets, pulled pork and lamb and applewood chicken chops! They all melted into our mouths and each bite made us wanting to go back for more!<br/><br/>The pork spare ribs were initially delicious but got a little bit dry towards the end.<br/><br/>Overall, we were very pleased and would love to visit again!

I had such a good time at bluestone. The staff were super friendly and helpful with their menu. I went with their PICK 3 to give me variety of what they have and had no regrets. Their cocktails were so good also! Would definitely return.

Wow! This place was a standout compared to some of the other bbq restaurants I have been to. Definitely a winner. Had the shared menu #3 to share with my husband. There were too many things on the menu that we wanted to try and this gave us a good variety. Best thing was the pork belly and pork ribs. So much flavour and seasoning. And all of the different meats had their own unique flavour, unlike a lot of other places that just use the same marinade. Definitely will be coming back.

We went when it first opened and tried it again recently hoping that the first time was just an off night but my partner and I couldn't finish our meals as it was too overpoweringly salty. <br/><br/>First time was eating in and we had to takeaway as we didn't want to be rude as we understand the effort behind marinading and cooking their meats. The second time was takeaway and again, we found it too salty and struggled to eat it. We only got a quarter way through because we kept washing it down with water and then a soft drink in an attempt to neutralise our tastebuds. <br/><br/>The next day, we both were constantly thirsty because the savoury taste in our mouth was still heavily present. <br/><br/>I refrained from writing the review as I wanted to really like bluestone and was hoping the second visit (over a year later) would mean things had improved. We couldn't appreciate the different meats as they all had the same seasoning flavour and intensity of saltiness. Others may enjoy it but for us, we struggled.<br/><br/>Apart from that, the service is quick, the restaurant has a great vibe and I hope things do improve so that I can try it again.

My partner and I had such a wonderful time here and it was well worth the drive to Coburg. We visited on a Tuesday without knowing they have special deals so that was a WIN! <br/><br/>We chose option 1 platter, Beef brisket, beef short ribs, mac and cheese, pumpkin and beetroot salad which were all delicious. The portion is huge here, though as expected since its an American diner. We took some away as obviously we didnt want to waste the delicious food. I’ve eaten at quite a few American BBQ places and mostly they are just ok. Usually nothing worth reviewing in a positive manner. <br/>Bluestone is definitely different and excelled far beyond my expectations for a small venue. <br/>Every single plate was outstanding! The meat was moist, full of flavour and delicious. Even the buttermilk chicken was really moist and buttery much like real American bbq. Best American chicken in Melb - hands down!! <br/>The prices are very reasonable and while you might feel the need to buy sides - don’t buy too much as we took food home due to wanting to try everything. A side note - the chicken was still outstanding 5 hours later!<br/>Service was great and people very friendly. <br/>Closing at 10pm might be a little earlier than I expected for a melb restaurant on a Saturday but I think this a location thing. No big deal. <br/>Only down side I could say would be the spacing. It’s a small shop and quite crowded unfortunately but we enjoyed it so much that I haven’t even reduced the stars. It’s a minor problem that will be solved with more customers and expanding. So hopefully this review helps increase their customer base. <br/><br/>I would be shocked if anyone didn’t truly love this place. Take the chance. You will not regret it. Bluestone American BBQ is a restaurant located in Coburg specialising in classic America grub! Walking in, you could instantly smell the smoky aroma coming from the meat cookers at the front of the shop and it smelt absolutely beautiful. <br/><br/>After informing the waitress, that we did not eat pork, to my surprise, they brought out an entirely different menu which removed all of the pork items on it, which I appreciated immensely. <br/><br/>We ordered Mac and Cheese, BBQ Street Corn, Texas Style Brisket, Yearling Beef Short Rib, Pit Braised Pulled Lamb, BBQ Chicken Wings and Southern Fried Chicken. For drinks, we had a Gin and Tonic and an Espresso Martini. The food was absolutely divine. I honestly couldn’t fault any of the dishes. All of the meats were super succulent and was accompanied with the most delicious and well-fitting sauces. Our favourite was definitely the Yearling Beef Short Rib, the meat simply fell off the bone and it just melted in your mouth. Divine! <br/><br/>The Mac and Cheese Croquettes were elite; they were fluffy, hot and incredibly flavoursome. The Corn was also fantastic, cooked very well and went great with the queso fresco! The Espresso Martini was packed with a very strong coffee flavour and went great with all the food. The Gin and Tonic was very refreshing.<br/><br/>The service was exceptional. Both waitresses who served us were kind, attentive and friendly. They were enthusiastic about their jobs and made our whole dining experience much more enjoyable. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Walking into this restaurant from start to finish is a great experience. The decor inside is so simple yet so warm and inviting with the chopped wood at the front.<br/><br/>We let the chef gives us what he wanted. It was probably the best thing we could have done. The variety that came out was beyond imaginable and the taste; oh my - we loved it.<br/><br/>Highlight of the night: smoked brisket; delicious, so tender and the smoke really elevated this dish. We loved the presentation of it.<br/><br/>You must try the deep fried mac n cheese croquettes here. There is nothing more delicious that well-balanced, not too salty, not too oily mac n cheese. From the very moment you walk into this restaurant you know it’s going to be a great experience. We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we walked in -it was busy! We went on a Tuesday and I highly recommend you do the same (but make a booking). They have an incredible special on Tuesdays which is only $12.50 per person and you get a platter of amazing meats such as a smoked cheddar sausage, chicken chop, pulled pork and wedges. I also tried the pork belly- oh my, so tasty! <br/>Make sure you save room for dessert though. The lemon, lime and pear tart is just divine and it’s a great way to finish. We had the pleasure of being invited to Bluestone for our first time on Friday night. As soon as we pulled up out the front, I could smell the aromas of the gigantic meat smoker near the front door the restaurant - it smelt AMAZING. I immediately felt verrrrry hungry! <br/><br/>Bluestone is owned by a husband and wife duo. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed and given some background about the establishment. We were quick to choose what we wanted from the menu - we ordered the ‘Pick 2’ selection, plus the Chilli Cheese Fries from the specials menu. To our delight, the lovely chef brought us out a serve of the Jambalaya to try as well (also from the specials menu). <br/><br/>I have to say, the Jamabalaya ended up being one of the highlights for me - it was so spicy, Smokey and just delicious. I loved the pork and sausage throughout. The meats were all unbelievable - my personal favourite was probably the pulled lamb and the chicken chops. The pickle on the pulled lamb was sooo delicious, and the marinade on the chops was divine. Needless to say the fries were fantastic - a delicious chilli cheese topping made them incredibly moreish. Even the grits were delicious - so flavoursome and tastier than grits I ate when I was over in the US. <br/><br/>What we were perhaps most impressed with was the generosity of the servings. We felt it was excellent value for money, and we had sooo much food - we took half of it away with us and had enough for lunch the next day! We will definitely be back!!

This cosy restaurant offers delicious smoked meats and other yummy sides that you feel like your transported to good old America! We were invited to Bluestone last night and were super impressed by every single dish. My dining companion from Sydney even went so far as to say the brisket was the best he’d ever had. I suppose when they’ve been slow cooking all day long they are ready to go. We chose four sides; the potato salad which was recommended, the fries which were a chunkier style chip but oh my gosh the SEASONING on those was insanely flavoursome. <br/><br/>Then there were the grits which I’ve always wanted to try and did not disappoint. I loved the texture of these and obviously suited the American theme of the place. And last but certainly not least there was the mac and cheese which was probably the tastiest I’ve ever tried. A definite must order <br/><br/>As for the meats we went with four different options; braised pulled lamb, beef ribs, fried chicken and Texas style brisket. It’s near impossible to pick a favourite. Suffice to say they were all super succulent, were perfectly paired with the yummiest of sauces and were somehow super melt in the mouth without being fatty. Even the chicken was stellar, not a hint of dryness and not was it remotely oily. I honestly couldn’t fault any of it and would thoroughly recommend

Amazing old school style of BBQ feasting. With their pick master option to get the best of everything and will the smokers out in the open of the restarting to give it an authentic feel. Brilliant American bbq, great service and very reasonable prices! We had date night here on Friday and for $53.9 we had the “Pick 3” menu which show cased everything you could have imagined and wanted! Beef brisket, chicken steak, pork belly, corn, pulled pork, pulled lamb, beef rib, grit, salad and even sausage! <br/>we had so much food, we even had a doggy bag to take home and finish it for lunch the next day. <br/>The meat was evidently amazing, but what really<br/>Impressed me was also the sides which a lot of restaurants neglect. For example the deep fried Mac and cheese was so good, I was really tempted to order another serve just for myself! <br/>And please don’t go without ordering and trying the Mississippi chocolate cake! If you’ve been to The Cheesecake Factory in the US, you will know what I m talking about!!!

We could smell that gorgeous smokey wood burning smell straight away when we called into Bluestone American BBQ to try out the very meaty menu. This place has certainly got the equipment for slow bbq and has been practicing the art for over two years now. The care and effort they put into cooking the various cuts was reflected in deep rich flavoursome meats.<br/><br/>We loved the variety of meat available on the menu and took the easy option of choosing the pitmasters pick 3 which pretty much gave us a sample of everything. <br/><br/>Highlights for me was the beef brisket which was seriously smokey and pull apart tender. The pork ribs were sweet and tender and the pork belly had a deep coated crackling. Of the chicken dishes I preferred the chicken chops but it was a very close second for the fried chicken<br/><br/>While a vegetarian might struggle here there were some seriously tasty sides with a deep fried Mac and cheese and I couldn’t go without and I’m a mega corn fan so really enjoyed a tasty cob. <br/><br/>Drinks wise there is a crazy amount of whiskey available and some great cocktails to. Coburg welcomed Bluestone American BBQ to Sydney Road mid-last year. I’m always partial to American BBQ, so a visit was eagerly scheduled in. Chef Alvaro Malel brings a unique take on low-and-slow American BBQ, drawing on his Uruguayan background to inject a few touches of South America to the menu.

My partner and I came here for a Saturday evening dinner. The restaurant was very busy and we recommend making a reservation. The staff are accommodating and understanding of requests, although it did seem they were under staffed. We ordered the beef brisket, chicken chops and the potato salad to share between us. The brisket was a generous portion. The food was very delicious! The meats were tender and juicy. My suggestion to future diners would be to ask for the specials menu and make sure you have a jar of the complimentary chilli sauce at your table- especially to those seated outside. Would love to return to try the burgers.

Loved the smoker when I first walked it! Was a great start<br/>Alert and attentative staff<br/>Food was great!<br/>They were very accomodating as we have dietary requirements would go back with a big group for sure!<br/>Recommend if your in the area

Gorgeous staff and food! It smells so good inside with the smoker running and the service is friendly and prompt despite being understaffed. It’s best to go as a group as alcohol is on the cheaper side (cocktails $14-18) and food servings are large. Beef short ribs fall off the bone into your mouth and they are incredible. Pulled pork and pulled lamb are succulent and juicy. We are definitely going back to try more of the menu!

Absolutely amazing meal and incredible service! Highly highly highly recommend.<br/>Ordered the southern fried chicken, Texas style brisket, fries, sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. <br/>The food came out super quick and every single thing was so delicious, couldn’t fault anything with our entire experience. Can’t wait to go back again!!

We were astonished to see the BBQ smokers as we had entered the restaurant- this made the room nice and cosy. With the dim lights and candles on each table, it also added to the relaxed ambiance of the restaurant. <br/><br/>Given the good reviews and high rating on Zomato, we were horrid to receive food that were far from a 4.1 rating. Their recommended brisket was so dry that we could not even make it half way through the dish. The pork ribs was slightly better considering it contained some fat, however the outside layer was completely over cooked that it was tough and inedible. <br/><br/>The two most iconic protein that you would expect from a BBQ establishment to deliver well and they didn’t is quite disappointing.

Absolutely stellar barbecue, served with some of the best sauces I’ve ever had. Great side dishes like cheesy grits and peppers that have been roasted in the fire. service is excellent. The smoker is located inside the restaurant so you can see how it’s all done. Very well done! These guys are gonna kill it

BLOODY AWESOME! Best Briskest ohh and the short ribs and the smokey chicken chops .. and I could go on forever !! Everything here is great and the service top notch. speedy food so quick to be served. They took care of my flatmate who is Celiac & vegan - Yes you read that right! Great food, good beer, good times.

Amazing food and friendly service. Took us back to our trip through Kentucky and Nashville. The Bourbon menu was outstanding and all was very reasonably priced. We can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. The beef short ribs and brisket melted in your mouth and the smoker looked really impressive.

Positives:<br/>Fast service, great staff, generous size burgers.<br/>We had southern fried chicken burger & brisket burger. <br/>Both tasty & filling, buns are brioche- fresh & soft.<br/>The sweet potato wedges were crispy & tasty.<br/>The raspberry & lime tart was great- very fresh & big enough for 2 people to share. <br/>Negatives:<br/>Quite a bit of smoke & a smoky smell which is understandable - maybe the exhaust fans weren’t being utilized?<br/>Alcohol prices alittle expensive for this type of establishment.<br/>

Love the food here,staff are very polite and friendly .great music ,I could sit there and eat while listening to the music. The steak brisket I had was amazing and my partner had the Tuesday special .<br/>Great portion sizes and cosy seating 👌<br/><br/>

Great staff, good food. My one suggestion would be to have a range of hot sauces on offer and other condiments. Also a little bit crazy that we had to ask for salt and pepper only to be advised you don’t have pepper.

Their Texan brisket is delicious! Third visit here and it's the dish that keeps me and my family coming back. Their service is prompt, staff are well trained, and very friendly. Kitchen could definitely tweak the recipes of their side dishes especially the potato salad, although can't fault the Deep fried Mac and Cheese (that's awesome). Will be back for more brisket!
