I called in here w a mate for a drink. The service was nice enough from the bar lady.
I tried a beer called Hero which I haven’t seen before and it was tasty. We sat in the beer garden on a sunny day, and there was quite a few people about surprisingly, especially families.
This place has quite a relaxed vibe and plenty of space to find a seat, either inside or out. If your in the area this place is worth a visit.
A regular here. They have great vegetarian options. Very creative! Not sure about the new renovations but sure we will get used to them. Well done to the chef on the vegetarian options.
Clean and friendly. The food was very fresh and the servings were huge. Meals came out in good time considering how busy they were on the day. The Coburger was delicious and very generous with its toppings. The batter on the fish and chips would have to be the best I’ve tasted in a long time (crisp, light and not eggy). We couldn’t eat it all but was So happy that we’ll definitely be back.
I was really surprised by The Post Office. They have two completely separate sections, one for the pub and the other for the restaurant. Please note that both venues are quite noisy.
I ordered the steak and I was really happy with it! It was a large serving and absolutely delicious. Two of my other friends also had steak and they agreed it was wonderful. We were just unhappy it was served with bok choy. I really liked the potatoes though. The pizza is also huge and we were impressed that it was served with a pizza cutter. How come not more places can do this????
The vegetarian burgers were apparently very tasteless. Our friend had to wait 30 minutes for her drink. Fortunately the staff gave us a free round of drinks because of these issues! Thank you so much. It is rare for a venue to do something about these issues.
We had a lovely time. After dinner we went next door to listen to some bands. Lots of fun indeed and a very unexpected place for bands to perform! Can highly recommend this place.
Came in for a friend’s birthday and this pub had a lovely decor and a really good range of items on the menu! I thoroughly enjoyed the steak and chips, cooked to perfection and the chips were beautifully seasoned. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re after good quality pub food.
Good modern hotel that offers a little more than your chicken parma and steak. We had a few pizzas and they were all fantastic! A great pub!
When you're in the area, be sure to stop by here for a bite or a brew. The venue is nicely set up with modern decor and very spacious. The food menu is your standard pub menu, but that doesn't mean it's mediocre. The chicken parma was huge! And the chicken was thick, juicy and sure to give you a food baby. Yum and yum
The parmigiana was insane! Not very often you get a good combination of good quality sauce, cheese and tender chicken to make one hell of a parmigiana ! The serving sizes are on point and definitely worth their price . The lamb was another good dish also.
Even the kids meals- the chicken and chips were so tender .
Beautiful surroundings in the dining area
Will definitely be back soon and hopefully in the warmer weather and get to enjoy the great outdoor area .
Had a seriously delicious gnocchi here yesterday (from the specials). It way exceeded my expectations for pub food. The pine nut paste was to die for. The only downside was that the serving size was on the small size. My husband had a parma and he enjoyed it. We'd go back.
Venue 5 stars
Food 5 starts
Service does not exist (no stars)
Probably the worse service I've had at an establishment in Melbourne. The girls that were on had zero care or training, not sure which. It wasn't busy and we recieved little to no service. Food was amazing though.
awesome old school pub ! one of the best beer gardens in the north. great selection of local beers on tap even a mid strength option!! food awesome and great value
We used to come here often. Specially before they built the expansion to their dining room and raised their prices a fair bit. The food here is great. It's got a tiny middle-eastern twist to things that goes really well with their gastro-pub type of menu. Everything is well executed and full of flavor. I'm not saying that the new prices are just way too high or that their food isn't as good as it used to or even that it isn't worth the prices they now have but it just kinda lost that initial appeal of superb pub food, relaxed, well priced, any-night-of-the-week kinda thing and now it's more like a thing you plan for. Good for them They've done well and deserve it. I should pay them another visit soon. Definitely recommended.
Decent tasting Parma, wouldn’t say it was above average for me though. There was a good pub atmosphere, although indoor lighting was a little dim. The outdoor area was nice for a summer night.
Beautiful place. I've been here for lunch and dinner a few times and is been great. I love the interiors of the dining hall. I had the mussels the last time I was here and they were amazing.
Nice ambience, not too loud (wed evening). Fish and chips - nicely done with yummy tartare sauce. Chicken Parma - very generous serving and chicken nicely cooked, but edges were burnt. Side salads that came on the plates were mainly just green leaves - would have been good to have something more in that to make it more palatable. Overall positive experience.
We had such a great night here on Saturday! Big booth with our mates. Beer did flow. So did the wine. The floor manager recommended a Shiraz (Strenua wines) that melted me. I had the scotch steak served rare and it had the perfect amount of charcoal to render the fat through the seam. Our friends had vegan delights that hit the spot and the pizza special was crisp and savoury. Couldn't fault it on any point. Will definitely be back with friends. A great local.
Great hotel great food nice atmosphere. Friendly place. Fantastic range of food on the menu all meals well priced. Parking in nearby streets. Tram stops at the front door. Worth a visit
We walked into the Post Office Hotel Dining Hall and were surprised it was so busy. Hoping to get a table for 2, we were offered a table in the courtyard at the back of the dining hall. We were very impressed by the place as a whole and the courtyard was no less impressive and comfortable with a huge outdoor heater overhead and a great ambiance!! We ordered pizza for to share as it looked as though it was the most popular item that diners were ordering. We're glad that we did! Best pizza in ages!
We came here for a quick Saturday night dinner and it fit the bill perfectly. The schnitzel (both kids and adult) was juicy and succulent - delicious. The sirloin had a lovely chargrilled flavour and was adapted for no onion and garlic without issue. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive even though there was a big table of about 20 next to us. We'll be back!
Good beer, proper bar food, great service, clean decor. What more do u need? I had the burger, it was packed and delicious. Well done u posties
Good wine, good food just not great they have dropped the standard of food compared to what they use to offer. Very family friendly venue sometimes can be a bit chaotic with children everywhere.
Great food, Good wine selection, lovely decor, OK service, possibly the only thing that would let this place down but all in all the most lush pub meal you'll ever have.
Went out for dinner at Post Office Hotel a few weeks ago. I had the proscuitto stuffed ravioli, which was absolutely delicious but very small for a main. Our table shared a charcuterie board, which had a great mix of delicious snacky bits and bobs. For dessert I had the panna cotta which was fantastic, lots of flavours and generous serving. One of my friends had the cheesecake which was also delicious and huge.
Great dining atmosphere and decor, you feel like you're in New York. The waiters are very well trained and professional. I think I will go back for dessert and wine, as they were particularly good.
Came here with some friends and our kids last Sunday at 5pm and the place was already busy for dinner. Who eats dinner at 5pm unless you have kids? Haha! Between us all we ordered the Lamb Shoulder which was delicious, and Steak, a pizza for our friends with some sides of potatoes, rocket salad, and roasted spiced cauliflower. The kids had fish and chips, burger and chips and pizza. The atmosphere was good, food was quick and tasted great. Only down side was that the band was pretty loud which made it hard to have a conversation but our babies still miraculously slept through it and pre kids this probably wouldn't have bothered me! 😉
The Post Office is our local and we get here when we can. The bistro is large, modern and a great spot to have dinner - a good selection of steaks, and other plates covering some of Europe and the Middle East among other flavours. Definitely at restaurant level, not the grubby pub stuff (although you can get a fish and chips or a parma in the front bar and they're both good). Regular live music and the venue has a good muso-centric vibe but with polish. Highly recommended if this sounds like your thing.
What a stunning pub!The beer garden is like a hidden oasis. Food is not your standard pub counter meal....even the pizzas can be a bit fancy! Prices are higher than average but it's an awesome pub.
Great pub, good atmosphere, good service. Nice place for lunch. Menu has a good variety. The food whilst ok was not OMG I have to back. The stand out was the condiments so fresh and obviously made in site.
I ordered the pear pizza. The toppings tasted great together, it consisted of goats cheese, pear, pancetta and caramelised onion. The pear had a lovely sweetness, the onions were cooked perfectly and the crust had a nice thickness. The portions were good and the atmosphere was pleasant. On a negative note, the presentation was reasonable, more toppings were needed and it was a bit expensive for what it was.

This place is awesome. Great lunches with a stunning atmosphere. Dinner is expensive but delicious and put of the norm. Good cocktails too. .
The open kitchen and decor was very welcoming, next time I'd like to sit in the beer garden out back.
Venison tartare was absolutely delicious accompanied with crispy bread and was the stand out meal. The pizza bianco with pancetta, goats cheese pear and caramelised onion was overly sweet after the second piece, so I would recommend a little less onion and more freshness from the pear. The base was quite doughy, good if you're looking for something quite filling.
The lamb roast was a little dry, possibly because there was no sauce to jazz it up a little. A little more acidity from more pickled onion or some lemon through the quinoa and pearl barley would have improved the dish slightly.
Food was good but need a little bit of tweaking to become great. Worth trying the place out.
Great for a casual lunch. Great for dinner. Pub classics with a twist...done classy. The beer garden is stunning. Highly recommended and the service is friendly and helpful
We popped in on Saturday afternoon and had a couple of the small share plates in the main bar. Really delicious.
We finished our drinks in the beer garden and drooled at the pizzas coming out.
Really lovely ambiance and friendly staff.
Just wish we'd had more time as I think we could have whiled away a good few hours there.
Would recommend for a relaxing Saturday afternoon with friends.
Stumbled across this little cute cafe one early arvo and was surprised by the standard of food. We had a late breakfast and it was so tasty. The staff and chef were very friendly and helpful. Technically breakfast had finished but they still obliged our request for a late brunch! Great coffee and produce. Would definitely go back.
There were 8 of there and we had a lovely time! Initially felt a bit rushed to order, even though it wasn't busy at all. But generally service was friendly and helpful. They forgot our sweet potato fries and we got them on the house! The food was amazing! The lamb and the steak was perfectly cooked and they were flexible and let us share different entrees and mains.
I like the food here and the wait staff are lovely, efficient and helpful. The open kitchen is problematic as you can see the chefs sneak food into their mouths under the benches, be rude to eachother and mock the customers. There is one chef in particular who does this and it's not very impressive. I am sure any of the staff that work there who read this will know who he is. Still my 12 year old daughter likes it there.
The Dining Hall is beautiful, service is great, food served quick enough. Kid friendly - ours love the fries. The front bar also serves great food. A little disappointed the prawn pizza has been taken from the menu but there's so much more to choose from. We've eaten here a number of times and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Great local place to go for either casual drinks and game of pool or hit the diner and enjoy beautiful food and great cocktails. Definitely will be back 👍👍
Great pub atmosphere with a variety of ambience in all areas to suit your taste. Excellent food with beautiful flavours. Many traditional dishes but some slightly diverse. Gourmet pizzas are great. Service is excellent, friendly, efficient & professional. Prices are slightly elaborate though.
All round good pub. Good atmosphere. Plenty of room, with tables well spaced. Friendly and helpful staff. Food tasty and well presented. Extensive drinks list.
Wow! I normally wouldn't rate coburg as a place to go but this place surprised me in loads of levels! The food and service were first rate. We will be back😄
Good for a larger group, the burgers are exceptional! I had the pulled pork, it was lacking the crackling the menu promised but it was still super tasty. Parter had the chicken steak and was impressed. Portions are ample sized which is always a bonus.
Pretty cool little pub the beef cheek was amazing will def have to go back
Perfect pub. This is our local pub and we love it. The atmosphere is lovely and warm with a nice little beer garden. Great drinks menu and the food is fantastic. I have had most things on the menu by now and love all of it. We also eat over in the dining hall when we feel like a bit of fancy and the food is beautiful. My partner has food allergies and there is always things he can eat and even when there's not they sort something out. The staff are so lovely, even though the place is quite fancy they are friendly and down to earth and very kid friendly. I love this pub, we have never had a bad experience.
Came for a Friday night catch up with a girlfriend and I actually loved the place! Great atmosphere, fantastic food and our waiter was awesome! My biggest regret was not leaving a tip for the great service, freaked out when I went up to pay as I didn't know you can leave tips via EFTPOS. Nonetheless, highly recommended!
Nice place to come on a weekend afternoon, sit out in the courtyard and enjoy some quality beers/ciders with great pizza! Pizza bases are thin and crispy with top quality ingredients and choices! Will definitely be back to try the restaurant!
Cool place.. Food can be a little hit and miss, but overall great place for a casual meal or drink. Service was attentive and the pizzas quite good.
I have always enjoyed numerous experiences at the Post Office. The pizza is top notch and very authentic , the specials are consistently good and the wine list is smart, concise with good boutique and euro drops. Thumbs up for me!
