Review Little Deer Tracks - Coburg

Great coffee, amazing fresh and creative menu tucked away in a little nook just over the tracks. Well worth a visit, especially if you are getting your car serviced around the corner.
Amanda Diana
A very homely place. Food is always tasty

Unique flavour and experience, polite staff and reasonable seating. I ordered a flat white and received the fatal mistake most cafes make. The difference between a flat white and a cappuccino is not just the chocolate dusting guys. Took a desert home which appeared to be a pecan slice. It was very tasty but the consistency resembled a cake mix before it was baked (maybe I'm not vegan enough to understand?). Overall a pleasant experience :)

High quality vegan pasta and desserts. Great place.

Was tempted not to leave a review, as I wanted to keep this little gem to myself. Nothing to look at, but the food is GREAT! Coffee is good too. The waiter was fun. Definitely will be going again soon. The rest of you, stay away.... It's MINE! 22/9/2018: I've asked you twice... PLEASE HANG YOUR GAY FLAG CORRECTLY
Arnold Keith
Quality menu with a twist, good service, good atmosphere & great coffee.

This is our local and we love it. It is a great option for vegetarians, but we went there three or four times before realising that there was solely vegetarian food on offer (we are established carnivores). You won't get better quality or value in the area. Food is always tasty and in particular, you MUST try all the pastas on offer, including the pasta specials. The owners are lovely local people, not falling over themselves to turn on the fake hospitality charm, but visibly proud of their establishment. Breakfast is a highlight - try the hash browns and haloumi. Coffee is great, the dude that makes it is young but knows exactly how to handle the machine. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Our favourite local (and non-local) eatery is a bit more than a cafe. Marco makes the coffee just the way you like it. The food is great, the vibe is friendly and unpretentious, you can take-away, sit in or outside. Service is smart and prompt and gives LDT a level of class one normally doesn't find in a cafe. They have a good regular menu and interesting specials which they change up pretty regularly. Great desserts always on offer. It's all vegetarian with plenty of vegan options but feels just like a regular restaurant ;) The prices are very reasonable. Just at the intersection of O'hea St and the Upfield bike paths.

If Little Deer Tracks isn't the best choice for breakfast or lunch north of Bell Street, then I'm not sure where is! Ever since this all vegetarian cafe opened back in 2011, it's been one of our favourite breakfast/brunch/lunch haunts. My 'usual' breakfast is the avocado on house sourdough toast ($8.50) with a house hash brown ($3), sauteed mushrooms ($3.50) and grilled asparagus ($3.50). It's always delicious, but I must say that it's not until right now that I am actually realising that it's also quite an expensive breakfast at $18.50... I also had gluten free bread ($2.50) last time which would have made my 'usual' $21. Oh well, as I said, it's always delicious!

Spot on as always.. very good little cafe with an interesting veggo menu (don’t expect bacon with your eggs!!) Coffee is always really good and we have never had a bad meal. Often has terrifically creative special breakfast dishes that are really worth a try.. a local treasure.

Never a bad meal here! This is a local gem :) yummy vego food that is always inventive and fresh. Coffee is on point. And theres always local art on display and pink walls!

The Little Deer Tracks Cafe is one not to be missed. There's plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options to choose from. Limited room for prams inside, so why not head outside to enjoy that latte when the sun is shining?! @plantbasedmum_

Hidden Gem of Coburg<br/>This place is amazing. Food is consistently great. Love the mushrooms, baked beans , hashbrowns, gnocchi and the burger. All vegan options of Course<br/>

The spaghetti with slow cooked lentil ragu is delicious and so filling! <br/>I wasn't really a fan of the fritters with tempeh and broccoli, needed more flavouring.<br/>I saw the awkward guy everyone has reviewed, he was perfectly fine to us.
CheeseAndCrackers
Good food and a cruisy breakfast with great service and a nice place to sit and chat. I had tasty poached eggs with dukkah and chili oil. I like when there are some interesting dishes and takes on traditional brunch dishes!

Friendly, tasty, cosy, just a few words to describe my favourite and blessedly local cafe, always great service and food, the veg menu is full of exciting dishes for a satisfying breakfast or lunch :)

I will not be back to resteraunt as the owner was rude and inappropriate to staff. In fact he was a bully to staff. Management need to be accountable for their behaviour.

Now I'm not into vegan food. I have to say though that this little place could convert me if I were ever heading that way. Good coffee and nice vegan food. The staff are nice enough but could learn to smile a bit more as they made us feel a little uncomfortable at first. A nice little asset to my burb. Proud to have them where I live.
MandyT
Overall, good place. Great food, great vibe. Just wish the girl at the counter/barista would crack a smile. Just a small one even, just once? Maybe display an inkling of warmth? Maybe she's too cool for it?

I went for brunch and had a great time. The food was so good and worth every dollar. The portions are great which was good. The service was great, our waiter was very calm and nice which made it inviting. <br/>Totally recommend!!!

Great range of dishes, good coffee, and being a vegetarian I do love the all vegetarian menu. The Huevos Rancheros is still my favourite, one of try best versions in town of this classic Mexican dish.
Andrew
Everything I have eaten here has been high quality and full of flavour. Huevos rancheros, handmade gnocchi and risotto are stand outs. This place also serves alcohol, so you can enjoy a nice beer or two with your meal.
FoodingAroundMelbourne
Not a bad little place and very well priced. Beans on toast and the hash brown were phenom and the dukkha eggs looks nice too. Would like it more if there were large coffees instead of just the one size.
Claire Alyse Stewart
Kind and friendly service and some pretty great food. Absolutely adore the coffee as well.if you're after a cute little breakfast, brunch or lunch in Coburg, this vegetarian and vegan place is great 😊

I've been to Little Deer Tracks a few times, but this was my second visit as a vegan. The first was for breakfast which was in pre blogging days. This time I went for a late lunch after a long morning of running around. I had remembered it fondly and my return visit proved I was right. There are probably more vegan items on the menu than last time I was there a couple of years ago. Just about everything on the menu is vegan or veganisable. Everything is vegetarian. I love that this cafe doesn't t even mention that it is vegetarian and vegan. I like to think that they are secretly converting the unwary with their delicious food.
Hanady Khoury
Every time i eat there i leave super satisfied...and I've eaten there probably around 20 times. The food is insanely good and cooked with love. Kudos to the chefs and the super cool staff that work there.
Vanessa Pratt
Great service, amazing food! The vegan pancakes are delicious. Have been there a few times and always consistent. Great coffee too. A local gem.
Sweet-Toof
Not the worst experience (by the sounds of it) but not the best. Had the beans on toast dish. Pretty bland. The open kitchen situation doesn't work here, as we witnessed the chef humiliating staff which made myself and company very uncomfortable. As a hospitality worker myself, that isn't the type of business I like to support

I get my coffee from LDT every day and I can't get enough of it! The food is also scrumptious, with ever changing, interesting specials that will suit anyone's palate.<br/>Definitely recommend trying this place out,<br/>and I guarantee that, as long as you're not a grumpy person with a short attention span, you'll definitely want to go back!
Rose Of Coburg
I have been here a few times since it opened around 4 years ago and while the food is very good, the service is terrible. I can actually put up with a long wait for my order, but not when the staff are surly and rude. I have seen the owner yell at a customer on one occasion and on another, at one of his staff (who was actually trying to be helpful by making room for a couple of mums with prams). After witnessing that, I haven't been back. It's not a local that needs my support.
Lok Mac
A diamond in the rough. Up there with the best cafe breakfasts I've ever had. Great coffee. Excellent menu variety, from perfect garden-variety breakfast to unique Mexican fusions. Great atmosphere. Worth a pilgrimage if you're not nearby.

Neat, cozy, homey spot that also doubles as a gallery for some great artistic pieces...

Best hollandaise sauce. Light and delicious.

What a ripper of a vegetarian dish! I am not sure how they have managed to make cauliflowe into a firm almost eggplant like consistency but it tastes great with the light crumb and beautifully flavored brown rice.
James
Great little place with tasty veg food. Had the gnocchi with capsicum sauce, it was delicious! A very chilled atmosphere and staff were prompt. Thumbs up!

Make tracks to this deer little place.. We travelled across town to this place, and it well worth the effort! Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, wonderful stuff happens inside. Great choice on the menu, and imaginative specials, and not too pricey considering the high quality. Sunny outdoor area plus comfortable and arty decor inside completes the deal. Highly recommended.
Coburg Dweller
Expected better. I had high expectations of this place. And maybe I just went on an off day, but it fell well short of my expectations. I had the fritters, which were very stock-standard and very very fried. Coffee was good. Service was average - very Brunswick 'I'm too cool to serve you' kind of service which I'm sick to death of. It's a shame - I really wanted to like it. Will try again in the hope that it was just a bad day.
Taster85
Love it. I always find staff friendly and the mains are excellent. I've found that they are happy to cater to vegan and gluten free and don't make you feel a pain for asking like at many places. The gnocchi is one of the best in Melbourne. I can't believe it is in North Coburg. I imagine it would do much better closer to town, but I am glad it is near me. I like the art they show which changes regularly. It clearly isn't some Ikea copycat art, but sometimes it is so bizarre it makes me giggle. This place has atmosphere and I can't say I know of such an interesting owner in another restaurant, or of another vegetarian Italian restaurant. I wish they'd open for dinner too.

Regret walking though the door.. The girls and I ordered coffees while we pondered the menu. I can't convey just how uncomfortable we were made to feel and how unpleasant that tall man with an unusual but interesting dress sense was. We had specials explained to us while he was staring at the awful artwork on the wall and not so much talking to us, as at us.<br/><br/>The coffee was good to be honest, we sensibly chose not to eat, as we were obviously not welcome or even comfortable. This venue seems to get the occasional good review. My girlfriends and I suggest you read the negative ones. These are more honest and better prepares you for a truly awful dining experience.<br/><br/>Who knows, perhaps the food might have been good. We were not encouraged to find out. We'll put this cafe on our "never again list".<br/><br/>I'm now having to apologise to my girlfriends for having ever suggested we eat at this cafe, and then to leave hungry.
Nemesia Shafaati
The local I treasure. Service with a smile and often a chat. Everything on the menu is to die for - I have tried it all! Really inventive specials. Good portion sizes, wholesome food that is still a real treat for the senses. Not to mention the loveliest homely and eclectic decor. 10/10

Awesome place, brilliant chilled out atmosphere and an amazing menu, at a great price considering all the exotic and high quality ingredients that really set the lunch meals apart from anywhere else in the area. Never had a bad meal here.<br/>Coffee is the best in Coburg, hands down.<br/>Special mention to the awesome staff, some of the nicest and most sincere I've ever met. Even the guys in the kitchen say hi every time I walk in. <br/>Can't go on enough about how great this place is, one of the best cafés I've been to in Melbourne
Eugeneloho
Fab. Great cafe. Their huevos rancheros are the best I've tasted so far in Melbourne, and the lunch specials are always delicious. I've been going there to eat for a while but there're still a few things I haven't tried from the menu that look good... It's nice not to get sick of a place's menu after only the first few visits! The floor staff - even on busy weekends - are attentive and happy to serve, and they've never brought me a coffee I didn't like.
Juliet.hindmarsh
Happy customer. Great and reasonably priced coffee. Awesome vego place plus they cater for vegan and gluten free for pretty much every dish on the menu. I suggest trying the portobello mushroom, so tasty. <br/>Staff are always friendly to us and go the extra mile to remember our coffee orders off by heart. <br/>Great vibe and all round awesome place.

WORST CAFE EXPERIENCE - EVER!. I’ll never eat here again. I was a regular for coffee and cake and I put up with the rudeness of the owner because the coffee and food are good but last weekend the owner ended up kicking us out when we didn’t want to eat our meal!!! Seriously!! It got heated and continued out onto the street. He offered no apology. Doesn’t surprise me though, I used to get coffee here several times a week and he has never once even said hello. Where is the business etiquette or customer service skills? He also refused to serve coffee well before closing time a few times and grumbled another time and reluctantly made it. I also witnessed the incident with the nice kitchen hand guy mentioned in a previous review, which was disgraceful. The chefs seem to get priority seating even when its busy. Swearing (and allowing some of his staff to swear) in front of customers is poor form. With all the cafes popping up in the area, some doing vegan and gluten free options – there’s no need to go to this one. Over-priced. Unfriendly atmosphere. Inexcusable behaviour! Totally misses the point of being in the hospitality industry. No thanks! Never again.
Eloise Smith
It's a little expensive, but the food is good and I go back again and again. Often I don't look at the menu, I just watch the dishes going to other tables and choose whatever looks yummiest as it's going past.

DISASTER. Went there late .... DISASTER. <br/>Went there late afternoon around 3 for a take away coffee and cake. Owner greased me off for walking in and told me the kitchen was closed and to sit down and he'll get to me. <br/>I ordered my coffee and a cake to be warmed up. In the mean time I rested my arm on a table, the chef brought his food out and greased me off to get off his table coz the kitchen was closed and he was hungry, on top of that, the owner was screaming at his kitchen hand and told him to get his s**t and f**k off. While the kitchen hand then walked out saying f**k this c***t... <br/>After waiting through all that, my cake was given to me cold, and coffee was ok... Never again <br/>Cute little cafe with huge potential but no idea.
Karen Nash
Coffee Amazing!!. I want to love this place but the owner treats his staff so badly infront of customers! <br/>The coffee is a stand out and Ive never had a bad meal here, the staff are really nice as well.<br/>But the owner has put me off going here which is a shame I just cant stand seeing that behavior towards people.
Arthurhunt102
The best Vegetarian Restaurant in the state.. I used to go to this cafe every day for the coffee, Now I go there at least 5 times a week for the food. Friendly service, attractive staff and weird behind the scenes mania! Fun and cozy.
Matt Lawrence
Great food and coffee but.... Food here is excellent, i'm far from vegetarian but the food is interesting and tasty every time so I can handle no meat.<br/>The coffee is good and the waitress who has been there in the mornings when I have been there over the past few months is friendly and attentive.<br/>HOWEVER I find the guy who I think is the owner to be pretty unwelcoming, this is a big deal breaker for me and I have pretty much given up on this place for that reason. hello, how was everything and thank you would be a pretty good place to start, pretty much all the other brunch spots in coburg and brunswick don't seem to have trouble with this...

Hidden gem. A tiny bit off the beaten track in Coburg, just the other side of the railway from Sydney Road, this place is the sort of vegetarian cafe which is so good at what they do that carnivores won't miss the meat.<br/>The coffee is great, the service is friendly and cheerful and helpful, and you get the feeling the owner, Marco, really believes in providing a great experience for his patrons - and looks after his staff. The open kitchen is pretty busy at times, but always seems to have a great atmosphere, and food and coffee comes out promptly and as ordered.<br/>As you'd probably expect from a vegetarian cafe, they are vegan and gluten-free friendly, with heaps of options both sweet to savory. <br/>The art of the walls changes regularly, as they provide exhibition space to local artists, and is often quirly and eclectic. The space is warm and inviting, and I'm looking forward to making more use of the outdoor area when the weather warms up.<br/>My only complaint is that they are not open for dinner, due (I think) to zoning or licencing or something bureaucratic. Such a shame, as it would be great to see what Marco and his team do with a dinner menu. In the meantime, they'll just have to stay my local go-to for delicious coffee delivered with a smile, and fantastic vegan food. <br/>Dishes to watch out for - if they're offering the tofu scramble made with smoked tofu, give it a go. A nice take on a fairly well-worn concept.
Sally
Fantastic catering experience. We had Little Deer Tracks cater for a 20-person dinner at our home on the weekend and it was such a good experience. Marco was extremely helpful and so invested in making sure the food was tasty and at its best when served. He thought of every little detail, including checking our oven measurements to know if heating everything at our place was possible, and when it wasn't, organised to bring everything over heated and ready to serve (we luckily live 5 minutes away so this worked well). <br/><br/>We couldn't have been more impressed with the food (all vegan and absolutely delicious) and Marco's service. Highly recommended. We love eating at the cafe also!
Robyn
Delicious!. My friend had a small function catered by Little Deer Tracks. The food was all vegan and totally delicious. Really nice gnocchi with pumpkin, and lentil lasagna. Loved it.
Zoezapper30
Worst cafe in Coburg. Took my friend to Little Deer Tracks for what i thought would be a nice afternoon coffee and piece of cake. After ordering we sat down and then started to hear what looked like the manager/owner berating one of his staff members. Swearing and banging plates really loudly around the kitchen like a true dick bag, it was embarrassing to hear let alone be the poor kitchen hand who obviously puts up with this crap on a daily basis. <br/>Bad vibes. Lot's of other great cafe's in Coburg, this one is by far the worst.
Alysondalziel
Love it!. I've been coming here every weekend since moving to the area. Great coffee. Super nice staff who always remember our order. Food is amazing. I love their baked beans, hash browns.
Roz
Come again. Visited this cafe for the first time today with friend and kids in tow, manager/ owner ( I'm guessing) very upfront that it was 3pm and kitchen would be closed in an hour or so - so if we needed to order it should be soon- which I liked. Our smoothies and lattes were delicious and the potatoe wedges were crispy and light. Definitely come again for coffee and a proper meal.

My partner and I stumbled across this place by accident, and visit it often now. He loves the shakes, and I was happy to realize it is veggie! I try a different dish each time now, which I am always happy with, and the waitresses make great suggestions. I wish they made their bread take away, their sourdough is fantastic!<br/>Service has improved a lot over the last 3 years, and it's a great place to go.

Stumbled apon this lovely place the other day. Was lost and a Long way from home so I popped in and Had a coffee. Great long macchiato and the waitress sarah was fantastic. She looked after me and directed me on my way back to the SE suburbs.

Great coffee, staff very friendly & the food is yum! We had breakfast- perfectly poached eggs, home made sour dough bread was delicious & the sides are very generous... Can't wait to go back :)

Awesome. Friendly staff, delicious coffee and awesome food. We've only recently discovered Little Deer Tracks but have had breakfast there every weekend since. The service is fast and staff are really accommodating. This very quickly became my favorite cafe in the Brunswick / Coburg area!
Caketin_fairy
Yummy vego food, little pricey but WORTH IT!. Used to live around the corner from this pretty little cafe and love the vibe, really great vego food that can cater to different dietary requirements also :) <br/>Love sitting out the back. <br/>Service is generally lovely.

Great little cafe tucked away in Coburg. Didn't even know this place existed until a friend alluded to it! Oh, so delicious! Everything was just superb......
Pete1symons
Great little cafe. I live near this gorgeous little cafe. The staff and friendly and fun; the food is great. There's always an art exhibition on so there's something to ponder while drinking their great coffee. Definitely recommended.
GinaC
Just so yummy!
LJ
Tasty Sunday Brunch. Only problem - too many great choices and only visiting Melbourne for the weekend. Tasty, healthy food! Even my (usually) non-vegetarian friends loved it! Great to check out the new local artistic talent on the walls also. Highly recommended!

Best food in Coburg. Little Deer Tracks is my fovourite cafe in Coburg, I have tried their whole menu and thoroughly enjoyed every dish.<br/>Their housemade vegan chocolate cake is to die eaten with their perfectly roasted coffee or organic spearmint tea.<br/>I also enjoy their constantly changing paintings and wall works from local artists and friendly service.
Cherry.h
So much on offer. This little cafe is livening up our neighbourhood and we love it. The food is fantastic and so tasty. We love that it is vegetarian and we love the gallery too.
Patwh
Definitely coming back!. Food excellent. Coffee amazing. Staff warm and friendly. Highly recommend!
Sarah Cordell
Great and yummy coffee-really good texture. There was a good variety of meals on the menu, all of which were very tempting-hard to make the final decision! Staff were friendly and quirky. Will definitely be back
Carl
Best coffee I've found in coburg since moving here over a year ago. The omelette was badass, as is the light filled atmosphere of little deer tracks
Fantastic
Great local spot for Coburg. Pros: Great, fresh produce, tasty dishes, delicious coffee, accommodating staff.<br/><br/>Cons: It's quite noisy inside.<br/><br/>This is a lovely local cafe, definitely worth a regular visit.
Bassam Chakelli
Love this place, around the corner from my place. On both occasions we booked for a big group, 15 +...and both times were looked after...Most of the items are vegan friendly....gnocchi. ..The best I've tried in as long as I remember. And the chocolate cake...oh my....staff r awesome, and u can even done in the courtyard with your companion pet!! A bit pricey, but quality is worth it!!
Owen Williams
Veggie Good Food. Great selection of dishes on the menu and they also make a great soy latte.<br/><br/>The customer service has its ups and downs, but I have found the more the staff get to know me the friendlier they have become.<br/><br/>Would recommend the cauliflower schnitzel!
Maryanne Sommavilla
You are kidding?. If you like average, overpriced veg food, serviced by rude and obnoxious staff and owners, this place is a MUST
VH
The food is really nice and nice little cafe but the service needs to be improved big time.
David Greenwood
Would not recommend. I don't know what it is about the men that work there... They are plain rude, and far to casual for a business. I don't understand the attitude of a café that's only in Coburg. My coffee was average, I'm not too sure who made it but my flat white was far from flat. Not only that, my eggs were extremely runny. The white was not cooked, and the yolks were cold. The only upside is that it is nice on the inside, and great artworks on the walls.
LouW02
Interesting, friendly cafe. Always enjoy going here - nice coffee and the staff are great. Meals are vegetarian and it doesn't always have a range of options that appeal to me, but what I have had has been yum. Favourite was when they had a special of homemade ravioli with asparagus and other stuff. Just delicious.
FoodFighter
The food is way overpriced; I literally got 5 wedges with my (very average) burger. All the men who work there are strange and unfriendly, especially the waiter, he was outright rude.
Anna
Zucchini onion tomato and goats fetta scrambled eggs doesn't sound like it should be good, but somehow deer tracks makes it work! Delicious and fast food with excellent service! Barista is quirky and fun, floor staff prompt and friendly. My new favorite place for brunch! Oh, and the blue cheese gnocchi is to die for!
Food Ferret
Great to have a good cafe like this in the area, coffee's awesome, friendly staff.
Keith Workman
Hidden in plain sight.. Delicious, fun, loud, interesting, <br/><br/>A fun and unusual cafe. I'm not a vegetarian but the food was awesome, pretty generous size as well. The coffee was probably the best I've had in Melbourne. The place is warm and comforting, and the buyable art pieces on the walls are a great idea. (local artists I guess).<br/><br/>The staff were fun and odd. The long haired barista kid is laugh. They seemed to talk to me as more of mate, instead of 'just a customer' they have to be nice too, which I like. <br/>You can watch and talk directly to the Chef's over the bar as they cook for you which ,made me feel comfortable, like I was back at mum's place watching her cook.<br/>The owner Marco, looks like he might actually be crazy, but he seems pretty cool. <br/><br/>Overall, It's a pretty great cafe. Probably my new regular.
Vincenzo
Great healthy breakfast. I enjoyed the best healthy breakfast meal I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The deliciously cooked and presented dish was a fantastic way to start my day. The friendly Italian style restaurant /cafe has won me over with it's warm atmosphere and reasonable priced menu. I'll be back for more!!!! :)

Coffee was burnt. Gross

Good food, rude service.. The food and coffee here is very high quality and as such comes with a high price tag.<br/><br/>The staff here are very blunt and cold though and I never feel welcome when I walk through the door.
Rod Beveridge
Great Location, Great Food, OK Service, Can Be Noisy, Staff are a bit weird not unlike the majority of the folk that dine here, come and enjoy, it is great.
Mick Frankis
Coffee okay but terrible service! It wouldn't hurt to treat your customers with respect not contempt. Last time I checked the place was in Nth Coburg, so why the attitude?? I'm baffled???<br/><br/><br/>-----03 Jun, 2013-----<br/><br/>For approximately a year and a half I have been an infrequent visitor to Little Deer Tracks for a coffee & or a meal with my partner. We live close by and find it convenient. To date I have found the coffee reasonably good and the vegetarian meals much to my liking. Unfortunately what clearly lets the cafe down is the staff! A cold, too cool for school vibe prevails amongst the majority of the staff for some unknown reason?? My partner works in the industry & we take pleasure in frequenting a number of cafes in the inner north and nowhere else have we encountered staff with such a terrible attitude! Im always polite & leave a tip but today I questioned why I would ever do so again or bother being a patron. LDH please don't judge a book by it's cover or treat a national park ranger like a parking inspector that has just issued with a fine! MF.

Let's start by saying the coffee was good and the 7 year old enjoyed the smoothie. That's where the positives end. <br/>We popped in for a drink during our bike ride, trackies and hoodies on. I thought our uncool outfits might have been the reason why we got no smiles from the too cool for school hipster staff. However I think they were all in fear of the barista. The kitchen hand bumped into him and this caused mr barista to launch into a 5 minute top of his voice tirade including the f word, right in view if the whole cafe, humiliating for the kitchen hand and creating a very tense vibe for the customers, not to mention that there were several kids subjected to his foul language. Not a good performance, while there are so many pleasant, warm and friendly cafes around I won't be returning. If you can't be hospitable, the hospitality industry is not for you.
Jobber Smith
Terrible.. Food blows. Wouldn't eat there if my life depended on it.

Awful experience do not go here. Went here as part of a family catch up brunch.<br/><br/>Floor service team were great, friendly and cool. Coffee service was poor but the place was busy so we cut some slack.<br/><br/>Went to pay bill, which was wrong and when questioned the owner exploded, abused me to the entire cafe and made an huge deal about my questions about the bill and charging me for things we hadn't ordered.<br/><br/>Awful experience, I will never go here again
Rita40t
Fantastic local. If you drive too fast you will miss it! Very unassuming and not at all pretentious! Found a little gem here! Fantastic coffee - and hot! Just the way I like it - am so over luke warm coffee. The barista Jackson certainly knows what he is doing. The food was delicious and a great selection of vegetarian delights. Generous servings! Desert was very inviting but that will be next time! And the bonus is that its easy to park! This is on my list of definite return to venues.

Suburban Alchemist. There's a wizard in the kitchen at Little Deer Tracks and his name is Marco. He dances a wild dance as he creates his dishes with verve, vigour and zesty intensity. I'm not sure what happens to the beetroot, that sprig of parsley or the humble potato but he transforms everyday vegetables into a Universal elixer full of life giving energy. I'm telling you there is happiness in this food. I'm convinced Marco is performing some kind of alchemy in the kitchen. I haven't been able to eat bread for over a decade without an allergic reaction - Marco's bread recipe - yum and no reaction?!? He not only performs alchemy on the food, Marco whisks you into the mix of it all and you walk out feeling like you've become part of an extended family. Faves; Quinoa tabouleh, punchy coffee, the artwork and attitude -not to mention a sparky barista, a handsome waiter and a thoughtful bowl of water outside for dogs. It's Coburg in a Cafe, love it!
Joh
New to the area and this is my new spot. Had a great breakfast here this morning, a really nice coffee and a chai too. Love it
Caroline
Had enough of rudeness. I've tolerated the owner's rudeness and abruptness for months and months but I've had enough. He's constantly rude and has no customer service skills whatsoever, he's more than eccentric. Food is fantastic but the guy who makes the coffee needs to hone his customer service skills too and remember he's there to serve customers, not to conduct and finish personal conversations and then serve the customers. Lucky the food is great but I suspect they think good food is all you need.

Mr Pucci loves Iranian Saffron Risotto. The owner is a little eccentric but lovely and dedicated to good quality food. The coffee is perfect.....

A VEGETARIAN'S PARADISE. A fantastic vibe & real quality vegetarian food. I love this cafe! - there's no other that compares with it in Melbourne. The open kitchen is a brilliant feature. Friendly personal service. Superlative coffee. A great cultural hub!

Wow ... the secret is out!. Darn and drat! The secret is out! Everyone seems to know how good the fare and coffee is at Little Deer Tracks! I have to fight for a seat now! The food is scrumptious ... fine dining ... not cafe fare! And the best part is that it is not far from where I live! Try to keep me away! Oh ... and the lemon tart was to die for! My biggest problem ... what to have?? Highly recommend !!

Place was pumping but service was still on par. Even though it was buzzing the food was amazing and surprisingly came out quickly. Will definitely go back.

If you like to wait 30 mins for a coffee and an hour or more before you see your food then this place is for you.. Hungary jacks has better customer service than this place.

Coffee was good. RIDICULOUS wait time. So unimpressed. Not again.

Disappointing. Food was fine, nothing special. Coffee was abysmal, burnt and the worst I have EVER had in Melbourne.

Best of the show. Love this O'Hea Street Coburg gem, two blocks from Sydney Road, other end from the old prison. Easy to get there. Worth the trip. Professional, no nonsense, service and quality food. Good coffee. We go back every month or so to see the art. Sometimes art is a hit, sometimes a miss but never boring. Drop in on your way to or from the Hume Highway to feel like you are really in Melbourne.

DELIC!. Yesterday I had lunch at Liitle Deer Tracks - my local and my fave place in the area. I had the special of the beetroot and marscapone ravioli with an olive oil/tomato-based sauce and spinach. Delicious and one of my favourite ever meals. Served with their delicious bread and proper butter. ... I would reccommend this food and this place (but not to too many people as I want to be able to get a seat there!)

Little Dear Tracks Cafe - a must vist. My partner and I have eaten hear now a few times and it is great!<br/><br/>The food is just amazing, even though it is veggie. even the brussels sprouts are great and I don't usually like them and there is a great range on the menu that I am trying to work my way through! <br/><br/>The Cafe is very cosy and the staff are always helpful and friendly. and we always look forward to going back.<br/><br/>The only downside to this cafe is that their coffee is just ok. Now i'm not an expert on making coffee so can't say what is missing. but something needs tweaking. If they put just a little more research in to this area this cafe would be one of the best in melbourne by far. <br/><br/>Over all this place is a must visit for the food alone.<br/><br/>I will definitely be back, especially for the haloumi.
