Review Pinarbasi Restaurant - Coburg

MissBollywood4eva
What a wonderful & delicious experience! Welcoming and attentive staff. The mixed platter had flavoursome meat & the salad had a really nice dressing, paired perfectly with rice. The donor kebab was a slightly thick saucy dish with bread at the bottom soaked with tomato & yoghurt sauce, absolutely gorgeous dish! Tried the Adnan kebab on a skewer which had a tinge of spiciness but beautiful flavour. The Turkish bread was a highlight, soft and buttery & paired beautifully with the chilli dip which hasld a lot of flavour in it other than being just spicy. Try the ayran if u like buttery yoghurt type flavour. The Turkish tea was great, especially the apple one which tasted like green apple sweet & sour. The baklava is a must! Not overly sweet & pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream to balance out the richness. Would highly recommend this place even if you are not in the area.

Best quality fresh ingredients in home made style Turkish food. Reasonable prices and great friendly quick service. Really enjoyed the dinner of Doner Iskander, Mixed Grill, Adana with great handmade dips and Turkish bread & finished it all off with Turkish black and apple teas with a plate of Baklava and Icecream šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ follow me for more on Instagram @honestollyreviews

Came here for the first dine out after a long lockdown and was very happy! We had grilled haloumi, the signature Iskender, and mixed grill. The food is delicious, portions didnā€™t look too big but very filling for two. The staff was already incredibly nice and polite. Will try their wood-fired pide next time, which looks great!

Compelled to write this review as I am impressed - Even though it was very busy, staff were friendly and professional. Food was fresh and delicious. They let us bring our own cake which they put the candles on and lit up before bringing out to us. Will definitely be back and will be recommending to family and friends. Such perfect service and excellent quality of food in such a high-stress environment is rare these days. Credit to all staff.

Highly recommended. Everything was awesome. The food and service literally perfect. Definitely will come again. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

The whole atmosphere was awesome, a blend of amazing Turkish food and great service. Some of the best Turkish food that I have ever eaten. Overall I loved it there and I will be sure to return very soon.

Decent food with very generous servings. Recommend the mixed grill signature dish as it provides a sample of most items on the menu. Staff was extremely friendly offering geniune customer service. The owner took his time while we were paying to recieve feedback and ensure the experience was up to expectation. Food is halal with vegetarian options too.

Where do I start. The food is divine fit for the gods. The marinated char grilled meat just melts in your mouth. The fresh baked bread served hot is mouth watering. The service is prompt and friendly. The owner has over 30 yrs experience in the hospitality industry and will only purchase top grade produce. Damn as I write this I'm craving another pinarbasi fix. Perhaps this is the only drawback it's highly addictive
Rauf Shukurov
Excellent food and lovely staff. Best Turkish pizzas in Melbourne and lots of vegetarian options in the menu!

Went there for a friend's Birthday last week. There wasn't near enough food for everyone to go around. $45.00 a head? It was probably worth $20.00, if that. Everyone went out afterwards elsewhere to eat. This is not first time that this happened. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Never will I come back here to this disgraceful establishment. You deserve no stars!

Beautiful food! And excellent service. But the music is just a guy playing his guitar :( while he's very good, you can't dance to it. (This was a Friday night) **we asked for music and the guy brought out his keyboard, everyone started dancing. It was awesome!! Thank you for an awesome night!
Michael Pogia
Excellent, food, great service. Grilled haloumi, vegetable platter and mixed grill highly recommended. Live music rocked!
Gary Kho
Excellent service and delicious authentic turkish dishes to fill your appetite. The marinated meats, dips and starter dishes is absolutely bang on the yum scale. A little gem of a restaurant in sydney road.
Muji Ozturk
Delicious food and great service. I would highly recommend it to anybody that enjoys Turkish cuisine.

If my family wants Turkish food we always go to this restaurant. Great friendly service, never ever had a bad meal here. The food is always fantastic. We have been going here for the last 28 years.
Tony HollƤnder
Great turkish food with a nice ambience.. we had the set menu for $35 / head
Mary Padazi
Fantastic food, fantastic band. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Suzanne Murray
A great experience. Friendly welcome, charming staff, roomy surroundings, beautiful food. Cannot wait to go back.
Serhat Duru
One of the best Turkish restaurants in Melbourne where local Turkish people prefer too. Why quality food tasty bread service with smile and live music on weekends. They have a belly dancer show too. Prices are reasonable. You will be happy.
Anne Mitchell
Great food. The best saganaki ever. Good service. We'll go back, definitely.

Great food and friendly service. I recommend mix grill :-)

Iā€™d give this place a 3! Bang on
Service was friendly but the food was really really slow, and I think this was the disappointment of the night
Place was nice and traditional, but a little bit out dated
We had the banquet, and added some extras, we left full, but not fully satisfied!
One thing I will make a comment on is the meat at the end of the platter was fantastic, everything else was just average to good!
Will try other Turkish resteraunts before returning!
Khanh Le
Food was okay. The rice that came with lamb kebab was cold. Nothing spectacular.
Waited for 40 minutes for a main dish. An awfully long waiting time for kebab ā€œoff the spinā€. There were other customers who were prioritised while we were ignored despite calling for service several times.
Kathy Kostas
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Went for Mother's Day lunch and ordered the banquet. Servings were generous. Enjoyed everything and plan to go back for dinner soon.
Daniella Tania Pino
Lovely dinner That was value for money. We ordered the dips with warm Turkish bread, mixed grill and mixed skewers with a jug of lemon, lime and bitters. Service was good as was the atmosphere. Left full and satisfied!

By far my favourite Turkish restaurant !! Being Turkish, I come here as much as I can with my family. We even drive 40+ minutes just to eat here!!! I held my 18th Birthday here at the start of this year and had the best night with great food and entertainment. Very accommodating staff and all my guests had an amazing night, thought the food was delicious (we were also so full after) and they loved watching the belly dancer!! Love love love! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ™ŒšŸ¾šŸ™ŒšŸ¾šŸ™ŒšŸ¾

Found this absolute gem on sydney rd while driving by so decided to dine in, and i am so glad i did. Service is outstanding! The food is super tasty and clean. You can tell how good the quality is here. Will be back for more and highly recommended for anyone reading this.

Got Baklava on the house from them! Always a nice touch!

Came here to celebrate my mil's birthday. The food was great but the service was way too slow. When i went to pay the bill, the owner (young guy) asked me how the food was and i gave him my honest feedback about the poor service. He was resonately apologetic and charged me less than 50% of the invoice amount and i was gobsmacked. At the end of the day, monetary compensation means nothing if it doesn't come with the right intentions and meaning and i was pretty impressed with the gesture and his sincere apology. Will definitely be coming back.

Great food, good service and nice clean place
House baked bread was fantastic pides nicely cooked and presented mixed grill plate well cooked and tender .
TigerTreeEats
Kebab diner was succulent and yummy. Pide pizza was crunchy. Veggie dish was ok; fritter was not crispy and lacked flavour but the eggplant and green beans were spiced! Waitress was a little awkward.
Chef Mahan
Nice Turkish taste, Live music and a belly dancer... All present to create a momorable night. Lamb and chicken was so tender, however the size of the dishes were a bit small. The restaurant is also BYO for wine. Warm Turkish bread and dip platter is a good choice for the starter. I also suggest trying kofte kebab, or you may order the mixed to have a nibble of all...
Wolf Of Collins St.
Superb place for Friday and Saturday nights to be with friends. Not only food is great and staff are friendly, the live music and belly dancing is an extra entertaining layer. We danced Turkish a lot and had awesome night. I scored it 5 mainly for fun features.
Fuath81
Live guitarist was a nice touch however it was too loud and made it very hard to have conversation at the table.

The food I had ordered came out incorrectly. When I asked for the order to be rectified it was declined as they had run out.

Ended up paying for the drinks and dips that I didn't eat.

Would not go there again.
Ilk
Great service, friendly staff and lots id tummy food. The young owner was very kind and generous. I was celebrating my hens night and he surprised me with a little gift from the heart. Defintely a nice cosy and family orientated restaurant with traditional food šŸ˜Š

Friendly fast service on a busy Saturday night. Food quality on the high end. Great Haloumi on a bed of salad, fantastic mixed grill, Sheperds salad and fresh bread also good.
Last night my family and I ate here for iftar. It was such a pleasant experience and there is nothing I'm able to fault. The food arrived on time and it was a generous variety which was full of flavour (including the soup, yum!). The staff, who were very busy but always managed a smile, were attentive to our needs and nothing was an issue for them. The atmosphere was also great with a little bit of live music. The manager does an excellent job in allowing everything to run smoothly. All in all, it is a great place which I do hope to visit again soon.

Great party vibe.
This is my second time, first time in a large group sharing a banquet, which was great, the second time with three of us, ordering 3 great dips with amazing homemade bread, and three mains, we all ordered the mixed meat plate with a variety of meats (great for meat lovers), with great food, then comes the entertainment, it was a feast for the eyes truly great, with two private parties happening including other diners, the place is a hub of excitement.Ā
Love this place and will be back, even though its a bit noisy.
Ahmed Samy Sallam
Excellent service and amazing food

Pizza is great, dips and Turkish bread as well

I've had the mixed grill and I'm in love with it

Price is slightly higher than average but the service and food makes it a bargain
Gia
Staff are friendly, but the food is very below average and overpriced.
The chicken was the only standout, with good flavours and cooked well. Sadly, we had a pretty unsatisfying and expensive night with all dips strangely devoid of flavour (maybe missing salt and any spice or flavour at all), overcooked lamb kebab meat and bland rice. Zucchini fritters are plain and too eggy and bad value for money based on size, and the bean salads were one note and congealed.Ā
Won't be visiting again.
Caz
Went here for the first time sat night had a banquet everything was nice meat was very tender and tasty there was music service was a little slow on some courses but they were very busy and they did apologise I will definitely go back again as it was a pleasant night

Very tight squeeze everywhere, as soon as we entered the place you couldn't move, very humid, we even dragged another table to make room, so we don't hit each other while eating+, but Waitresse said will contact Manager to see if that table was free, it wasn't so it was very tight movement all night, people around us where bumping the chairs & constantly saying sorry, overall food was very nice but light, we also got the same dish 3 times, constantly saying we already had that serve, the last time was on the house we where still hungry, drinks a extra, nice band, my family Felt uncomfortable when the Manager Constantly approaching everyone & saying is everything ok, the Belly Dancer didn't have a entrance or exit, no scurff+, she went straight to the point in performing. She didn't go to every table & parking was good, but when we had to leave most Vehicles where illegally parked, we had issues, i had to jump in the driver's seat to constantly go forward & reverse, lucky all Family where guiding me each corner of the small vehicle, too pull out. Also the Belly Dancing music was too load. Just to confirm some Waitresses don't speek English, so no communication.
Foodie
Amazing is all I can say. Hits the spot it's so hard to find well done Turkish or Mediterranean these days! Fast and friendly service and the ambience is just perfect! Good quality food at a great price. It was so good I had to take home the left overs.
Farha
Good Turkish food. The lamb chops were very nice. We got the $30 banquet & they missed to bring a couple of items but once we reminded them they brought them out. The waitress was attentive & atmosphere was pleasant on Saturday night with a singing band & belly dancer.
Good Food Good Mood
I actually love coming here. Whilst it's by no stretch of the imagination a dining hotspot and you certainly won't find any killer cocktails the food is delicious and reasonably priced (although it's definitely crept up over the years). I always order the iskender which is their signature dish served in a clay pot and cooked in a wood fired oven. Ultimately it's a simple, family run establishment with generous portions. If you are keen for some culture come on the weekend to experience the belly dancer and loud traditional music but just make sure you call prior as they are occasionally booked out for functions

Long established place which recently remodeled moving out of the 70's into the 80's era. But dĆ©cor aside, the food is fresh, very tastyĀ andĀ greatĀ value. The cookingĀ is basedĀ on char grillingĀ and has a wood fire oven for baking its own bread and Turkish pizza orĀ pide - My favs are the eggplant entre, vegetarian pide and char grilledĀ quails...ive seen the placeĀ packed out Friday and SatĀ - with mostly Turks - so that should beĀ a good endorsement. I will keep coming back
for more.....

Came here for dinner before we went to the drive ins. Place was empty (never a good sign) and despite it being cheap.. sometimes too cheap is a bad thing. I ordered the chicken salad and asked for no onion. Somehow that became just a bowl of mixed lettuce, some tomato and some very dry and very cheap and nasty chicken skewers. Small and not well presented. Where was my cucumber, feta and olives?!?! Friend of mine got the chicken skewers with rice, same bad chicken skewers i got with mushy rice and the serving size was barely entree sized. Not impressed at all and we made a hasty getaway. If your hungry, try one of the other million places in coburg for Turkish - better quality and better taste!
Mireille
Ordered the Iskender with rice instead of bread... Umm I don't recommend doing this... The rice was mushy and tasteless... The meat was nice but definitely needed more sauce on top. Dips were nice as was the pide. Would order something else if I returned.
Ghan
Have been coming here for years, since I was a kid. Food is consistently good at reasonable prices. Although lately I've been opting for individual dishes as opposed to the set menu - the set menu is too focused on bread and not enough meat. If you order individual items, the price works out to be the same per person, but you can order more meat. The entertainment is always fun - but the music is sometimes a bit too loud.
We spend most family special occasions here and I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to taste some authentic Turkish cuisine.

Delicious turkish food! Excellent service. The best Turkish bread and baklava. Thanks Pinarbasi chefs and waitstaff. Very impressed. Lovely place.

By chance we were driving past this place and thought we would stop for my sons birthday. Ā We are so glad we did, the food was sooooo good and the service very prompt. Ā At 35 dollars each, Ā we had a banquet, live quirky entertainment and a belly dancer, who could ask for more!!!!!!! Thanks for a great night, we will come back again . Ā Sandra and family

Fabulous! Amazing food and incredible service. We had a guest with us that was gluten intolerant and the waiter was very good informing her about her options and making her feel welcome. A great night out and highly recommend. Thanks Pinarbasi we'll be coming back.

Dinner on a Wednesday night. Quiet music in background. Not overly busy. Food was really good. Stand out dishes were (1) halloumi for entree; and (2) nutella pide for dessert. Mixed grill & mixed skewered were also good. Would definitely go back again!!

Have to disagree with all the negative reviews on here, I couldn't fault this place. Dips and accompanying bread were delicious and more than enough to share between two. Shared a main serve of beef doner on rice and again this was more than enough for two people. Meat was beautifully tender. Salads were fresh. Staff were polite and attentive. My only criticism would be that the background music was too loud, making it difficult to talk without raising your voice. I'll definitely be returning though.

Came here for a Sunday night Turkish feast... the restaurant wasnt as busy as normally they are on a Saturday night.. we got seated straight away, waiter brought some water for us.. we ordered dips, eggplant for entre, Turkish bread was good and warm. Dips were small and overpriced.. for mains we went for the $40 banquet which is for one person. 3 dips, grilled eggplant, 1 wine leave for entre
mixed grill meats and rice and salad for main, dessert 1 small turkish Delight and 1 small baklava with a turkish coffee. Portion sizes very small..
Service was very slow, the banquet is not worth $40

Claudia
Enjoy our meal at Pinarbasi. Food & service was great. The best part was the Nutella Pide...definitely a must try! I will be back to order that for sure.
CultureClash
This restaurant has a warm environment and the belly dancer is awesome.
our order kinda took forever but that's probably because there were 12 of us.
Basma Al-obaidi
It was a very bad experience that I regret it . I knew about the restaurant from their website and I was excited to attend it , so I invited my friends to that restaurant on saturday . The menue on that day was banquets . The food presented in a bad way we were 9 around the table , and the food were served in only tow plates that make it very difficult for my guests to reach it .Ā
The food not served all to gather at the same time , i mean there was about half an hour between each plate .
I was really embaressed to invite my friends their and I will never return to that restaurant . I have seen many banquets in other restaurants , in which every two people shared with the a whole meal , but I have never seen 9 Ā people shared with only two meals.

This restaurant has certainly gone down hill in the past 12 months. I have been there 3 times and the service is pretty bad, each staff member tells you something different regarding the menu, then once you order it all comes out wrong, not even a simple drink order is correct. The music on Saturday night was so loud that I felt like I was in a nightclub. I could not hear my friends and we had to scream our conversation!!!! The dj was asked 3 times by staff to turn down the music as patrons were complaining but I think it just kept getting louder, but at least the food was nice. Will not go back!!!!
Jennifer Midgley
Beautiful food, but the music was painfully loud, You could not have a conversation across a table for two! I would still return, but maybe not in a Saturday night.
Jadymulqueeney
Tasty food, reasonable price. We've eaten at Pinarbasi many times over the years. It used to be great quality and great quantity at a great price, busy and loud. Last night the food was delicious, but the portion sizes are smaller than ever before. Maybe they have cut back since many people don't need as much as used to be served. Probably a reasonable idea. Even the baklava seems to have shrunk. They wanted to serve only the banquet to our group of 14 people, but we didn't want the banquet due to some very specific food requirements. Eventually they agreed to us ordering individually.
The Quince Poacher
The char-grilled meats turned out to be one Pinarbasiā€™s strengths. Our towering plate included quail, shish kofte, lamb and chicken shish kebab. All were flavoursome, moist and succulent.
AJT
Just had a delicious meal here for my sons 7th birthday. The meat was delicious, the salad fresh and the dips and bread were so yummy we had to order a second serving!
Gorjess
DON'T EVEN BOTHER!!!. Possibly the worst Turkish we have ever had! We went last night as a group of 4 and ordered the 'Pinarbasi Banquet'. Once we ordered the lady came back and told us that they ran out of HUMMUS...WTF!? Then when we said something, she said "oh, i'll see what i can do", then brought out a runny "hummus" and said it didn't have time to set. Can I just say hummus doesn't need time to set once made. So strange! Then our doner meat came out and we got a small plate to share between 4, and the table next to us had the exact same just for 2 people! When we asked the waitress she again said "i'll see what i can do" and brought out another one-like they only do things to please people once you complain. All the dips were TERRIBLE, bread seemed STALE, and the meat was only OK. To top it off we paid $35 each and once we walked out we saw a Tuesday and Wednesday special that our banquet should have only been $25 that night! They sure failed to tell us that! WORST EVER! If you want a real Turkish food with good service DON'T GO HERE!!!!!

The Best.... Pinarbasi is the best Turkish restaurant in Melbourne! I have recommended family and friends here to go on a Saturday night not only do you get excellent food and the best service, but music and live entertainment, the vibe that you get from the moment you walk in till the time you leave is uplifting. I've had my daughters birthday here, my birthday my fiances birthday and many other friends have had their special occasions here. Highly recommended. Keep up the fantastic work Pinarbasi
Juliateuma
Great restaurant. The food and the service at Pinarbasi was exceptional will definitely recommend friends to go and enjoy it for themselves and we will most definitely be going back

Very good food and friendly service. This place is absolutely excellent every time I have been.
Food and service top notch.
That is all.

We stumbled across Pinarbasi by accident, they were very welcoming happy to sit us on a busy Sat night without booking. This seems to be a true family restaurant, catering to big family bookings with a stage and live music to cater to the crowds who like to dance after their food. Our food was delicious, although I wouldn't describe it as fine dining, more homemade style. The prices are a little bit higher than other places on Sydney rd, but plenty if mains under $20, so I'm not sure why urbanspoon rated this place as $$$, it's closer to $$. We had a platter of dips to share ($12.50), red capsicum was really nice and two others ok, a bit overpriced for the serve. My friend has lamb skewer salad ($14) and I had lamb skewer main ($19). The marinated lamb was really delicious and reminded me of my childhood shashliks (marinated skewers cooked outdoors). I grew up in Ukraine across the Black Sea from Turkey and some of the dishes and even traditions seem similiar. I've been to Russian restaurants in Melbourne with a very similiar set-up - stage, singers, families dancing, big family gatherings, usually I shy away from them and it was really interesting to visit a place so similiar from another culture. A great place to accommodate your big family.

Best Turkish food in Australia. This was by far the best dining experience for Turkish food i have had in Australia. absolutely a must try! made me feel like i was back in Turkey. This is how Turkish food should be and and this is fine dining at its best!

AN EXCELLENT TURKISH EXPERIENCE. I've been meaning to write a review for Pinarbasi for a while now because these guys deserve good feedback.
My family and I have been coming for the last few years and attended a variety of functions at this venue.
The delicious food is very reasonably priced and the service is excellent.
I thought it would be a good place to have my birthday because the banquet is really easy for a large group of people and there is live music with belly dancing on Friday and Saturday nights.
All of my non Turkish friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves and came away from the banquet feeling wonderfully full.
Thanks to all at Pinarbasi - we will be back again soon!
Aylin
Bad service. Waited an hour just for dips to arrive.
Flowersongate
Dinning. I have been many times at Pinarbasi over the years and I could tell every time its been great. Little mistakes have happen during the service but we are all humans and we can do mistakes. I read all the reviews and I felt revolted when people say it"s not enough food the food is great and the portions are ok, and speaking from my experience( I had lots of parties with 20-30 people each of them), the staff its friendly I have recently been there and the new upgrades they have done make a huge difference. Well done!
I will be coming back next week for a 65th Birthday party and I will come again in the future.
Regards Oli

Nice. Was meeting my friends fiancƩ for the first time & being from Turkey we thought we'd try a Turkisk restaurant ...not fine fining - very simple food - felt like I was eating at my parents house ...dips were delicious & food was nice nothing to brag about or want to go back for !

What the hell?. Went here with a table around 10. Ordered the set menu. When the shavings of lamb came out (x2 servings) the quantity would not even be enough to fill up a normal kebab. And the Turkish Delight? Was that meant to be a joke? I could buy a 92c Cadbury Turkish delight from Coles and be more satisfied?
Gypsy
Welcoming atmosphere and lovely attentive staff. Our cosy table of two tried the special set menu and were not disappointed. Delicious food and very generous portions of it. Loved the Turkish entertainment also.
.
We had the set menu, table of 9, $30 each. Service was pretty slow and there was definitely not enough to go around. 2 skewers, 1 kofte and bite of shaved lamb, a spoon of rice and a pinch of shredded lettuce isn't main. Then for dessert 1 piece of Turkish delight? It was kind of a joke in the end. Definitely not worth the hour drive to get there, will not come back even for a free feed!

The best thing about this place was leaving. Ok, this won't be a very nice review.... what a crock of rubbish this place is at 87%. Rent a crowd to vote? Thought we would go to Coburg for the authentic stuff yet we were wrong... very wrong.

I came here as I am a vegan and they had a few things on the menu I could eat, and then my other two non vegan diners could eat as much meat as they wanted.

We arrived and was seated in a basically empty restaurant, which looks like it was furnished from a St Vinnies Co-Op store as the decor was so daggy and old fashioned it must have been like that for over 20 years. Oh, and the 20 year old tinsel on the walls was also a lovely touch of dag as well.

It took 15 minutes after receiving the menu's for the waiter to come back and ask for our order. We ordered our drinks and the food all at once and the drinks came out in another 10 minutes, of which the "Turkish tea" was a powdered drink and full of sugar and not even tea at all.

The food was an absolute disaster. We ordered the hummus which tasted like it was bought in a tub, the Turkish meatballs were burned balls of beef that were so dry you couldn't get the knife through the, hard piece of processed meat and none were eaten by my partner who virtually eats anything. These were inedible to the extreme. My falafel were soft on the outside, dry on the inside and looked like they were microwaved instead of deep fried. They were so dry I couldn't even swallow them.

The suckuk pizza with egg was one of the worst my partner has had in a Turkish restaurant and we eat Turkish food once a week and he orders this; the egg was a tad stinky and the meat was dry, hard and fatty at the same time.

It was one of the worst experiences ever dining out when a 21st arrived with an entourage of 50 people who sat directly behind us. Our table was knocked, my handbag was kicked out under our table and we had backsides in our faces while we were trying to eat. If you know there is going to be a 21st that's booked why put a table of 3 RIGHT BESIDE THEM? Surely you could have put us somewhere else as we had a booking?

I think I'll stick to Arda in Caulfield from now on. The drive across to the North wasn't worth it.
Elle
Saturday- set menu was poor. Half the things on the list they forgot to bring out.
I wouldn't go again

Lamb donar is amazing here!
LouW02
Pricey, but worth it. Have had take away from here - was hesitant to pay $40 or so for two people for our 'lazy night' but the food was delicious. We'll definitely have it again. We had lamb and chicken skewers with rice, and bread and dips. Even the rice was delicious, the lamb was moist and tender and the chicken was good quality - no gristle or random bits as is so often the case. Also had dolmades. A really wonderful feed.
Miss Jaylan
Weve been here heaps of times and although as one reviewer said its not really for a special night out, the shish and mixed grill are consistently very good to excellent and for that alone we keep coming back
Ana Silva
This is a reasonably priced restaurant with a festive and relaxed atmosphere. Authentic Turkish cuisine - much like my Grandma makes - complimented by friendly and attentive wait staff. With live music and a gorgeous and talented belly dancer as entertainment for the evening - what more could you ask for?
Sabrina
Friendly staff, very good service and food. If you are coming from the city side, it is worth travelling a little extra if you are after authentic Turkish food.
Hermin
Had a fantastic night with my family, food was great, staff was excellent very polite and quick, the music and entertainment was great with a lively atmosphere. All in all Pinarbasi is an excellent restaurant I would highly recommend to anyone.
Ahmet
Certainly more about the entertainment and ambience rather than the food. Food was ok but nothing to die for, I've had better. As for entertainment couldn't fault it. We were all up and about. Great for groups or parties. Try and grab a bite before you go.
Supersal
We have been going to this restaurant for many years- possibly the best Turkish food ever. We wanted Turkish one night and found that Pinarbasi were closed so we settled for another further up the street (biggest mistake ever) and it was so disgusting, we couldn't even finish it. What irritates me, is that your average person who hasn't eaten great, well cooked, authentic Turkish food thinks the place we went to represents Turkish food, it doesn't- not at all. There isn't one good Turkish restaurant on Sydney Road except Pinarbasi- Pinarbasi is the one for great service and tasty food. And no, I am in no way affiliated with the owners of Pinarbasi, I just love it so much that it deserves every ounce of a great review!
Danielle607
Delicious!. We arrived to a busy restaurant but were seated quickly, given our drinks, and our orders were taken. We received our basket of bread which was delicious then an order of dips "on the house" came to our table as an apology for the restaurant being so busy. Our food was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. My expectations were high since the restaurant is always busy when we drive by, even at lunchtime and we were impressed. Very good!!

Got the $30 a head special. bread was burnt. dips were bland, worst eggplant dip ever. mains were small. dessert was stingy little pieces of Turkish delight. Antalya down the road is better.

Quiet night so atmosphere was lacking. Good service and very good food (I got the dips and mix grill) the only bad thing was one of the meats that came with the meal. It was very fatty but the rest was superb.

Not bad. Was a slow night... what with the dirty jugs of drinks being flat and filled lukewarm with not a single piece of ice. Ice bucket was promptly delivered after our second request.

We had the Special Banquet Set... was pretty average until the meat platter. Dips were okay. Bread standard. If the meat platter wasn't the saving grace, I would've trashed this place based on the incompetence of one of the waiters.

Fair value. Went there last night with the wife. Was recommended to me by a Turkish colleague. Service a bit slow, and being a Friday night - a touch noisy, good belly dancer though.
Food was standard Turkish fare. Adequate servings etc.
Definitely the decor was superior to my old haunt Alasya and quality of food just a shade better. Will go back again one day.
And try the Turkish beer - Efes - good!

Yeak OK. Not bad tasing food, certainly lacking the 'wow' factor and the quantities are certainly not large compared to the price you pay. It's OK, I would return but definitely not one of my favourite restaurants. I think I'll keep hunting for Turkish food in the Coburg area that matches a very popular kebab take away shop in the Coles Mall that I wont mention!

Hard not to enjoy Pinabarsi. The food is authentic and fabulous, but why does it have to be so expensive. Shame really. Would def return, but not in a hurry perhaps

Rip off! $350 worth of food spent and everyone left hungry! Food was awful! Do not recommend!!

Mixed grill was fantastic. Very friendly service, clean interior, all you can eat turkish bread with the dips ! the mains didnt disappoint either... highly recommended.

Good Turkish food. Delicious Turkish food with acceptable service and good price.

Pinarbasi was great. The family had the set menu and there was plenty of food for 4. The meat was well cooked and flavoursome and the dips were fresh. Good eating. Would recommend.

Delicious fresh dips and lamb kofta! Friendly and quick service too. Great treat for a lazy Wednesday :-)

Decent Turkish. Pinarbasi has been our local Turkish haunt for about the last five years, after jumping ship from another on Sydney Road in favour of Pinarbasi's increased freshness and higher quality dips and meat.

The food is mostly of good quality and the atmosphere of an evening (mostly Fri-Sat) is loud and chaotic - so a great place to take someone you don't have much to say to, but not so great if you're looking for a romantic dinner for two, or a meal with a hearing-impaired friend or grandparent! Oh, and the dancer on Saturday night is always good entertainment (particularly if you enjoy watching silly men attempting to belly dance).

One warning: beware of putting in a telephone order! It's not uncommon to have communication problems so be sure to double check your order before you leave.

The special banquet is good value - the quail is very nice. Service is prompt. My 2 year old loved the dance floor. Punters are mostly Turkish and packed in cheek by jowl. All in all a good feed, a family place, not really for that special night out.
