Review Old School Pizza - Coburg

Azrul Hizam
Service was good, food was excellent. Advisable to call ahead and book as they are full most of the time. Food is all halal. I had the beef ribs and it was really tasty and meat fell off the bone, highly recommended. Definitely coming back when am in Melbourne again.

First time at Old School Pizza, me and family loved the place, the food and how they care for the customer. Excellent service, excellent food. I would definitely recommend it and come back again.

What a lovely place! We did margarita pizza for the kids and prawns in a garlic sauce with saffron rice with vegetable sides. The service was outstanding, not sure if it was the manager but the gentleman who served us was so polite and showed outstanding service. All the ladies were just as friendly and polite. You can tell that this is a happy place. The food was fine dining quality, I NEVER EAT RICE..but today that garlic sauce and rice was the star of my dish!! Was that good that I didn't even need those yummy prawns. My serving was enough for two people to eat. We ended off with a small chocolate shake (think it was the Charlie chocolate milkshake). I was so glad we went with instinct and got 1 small shake to share because my kids couldn't even finish the small shake, they left half of it.. a huge portion. Definitely will visit again! God bless your restaurant and may it grow from success to success. Thank you for your great service.

Great food, service and ambient. By far the best calamari we had. Thank you Went back again and it was even better

This place is absolutely wonderful! The people here were always kind. I often ordered takeaway pizza from this place. Recently, me and my family got covid and was in isolation. We wanted to order pizza but noticed there was no one to bring it up. We asked them a favour and they were so kind to do it! We asked them if they could bring it up to my place since I live at the apartment next to their store. Special shout-out to the staff! Thank you so much for doing it! 100% recommend this place and their food is absolutely rich and amazing too!

Wow, so impressed. Honestly, I didn’t expect to fall in love with my steak. 250 gram Eye Fillet was at least 300+, I ordered the stone grill which ensures I serve it at my liking. The peppercorn sauce - perfect. And the mark of a great restaurant is the vegetable sides. The places I have been before typically serve ‘run of the mill’ sides, but this places sides where incredibly fresh and tasty. I’m one happy and very full camper. Thanks

Food looked and tasted great. Their portions are generous. However, the place was too smokey, lacking proper ventilation. I had to change my clothes once I got home. Stacked pizza boxes and other boxes near the cashier gave an image of a local pizza shop. However, their food quality is competitive with prestigious restaurants.

Food is amazing (highly recommend the grilled chicken with avocado sauce!), and the service even better. One of our meals was slightly late and they rushed it out to us, and then gave us an incredible dessert platter on the house for our group. We have been multiple times and the food and service has always been amazing!!!

Finally, an AWESOME gluten free pizza! I was told to cut out gluten for health reasons at the start of the year and since I was a kid, my favourite food has always been pizza. I've ordered gluten free pizza from pretty much every 'local' place (Coburg and Brunswick) and they've been gross to not-bad. The gluten free pizza I ordered from you on Friday night was divine. The base was crispy and the toppings delicious! Thank you thank you thank you. You have a customer for life. <3

We went there on a Thursday night for pizza and salad. The pizza was ok, the sauce generic and we thought it lacked a bit of flavour. The cheese is very thick, for those of you who like that. Ordered gourmet seafood pizza and needed to add salt and chilli for flavour. The beetroot salad was by far the best part of our meal, and a very large portion size for the price! Decent food and decent price. Staff were lovely though!

This place is the best, easily the best in Brunswick and possibly the best Pizza I've had, actually, it is the best I've ever had. Fantastic value, quality ingredients, lovely shop runners (I can't bring myself to say "staff"). Have gotten takeaway with numerous friends and everyone is always impressed. We've been going since week one and Old School is a WEEKLY MUST for me and my partner (aided by the fact that it's just 5 minutes walk from my house - so lucky to have the best pizza shop open right around the corner!). I've by far not tried everything on the menu but so far faves are everything we've tried; Patate, Meat Lovers (oh, that BBQ Sauce!!); Gamberi and Pollo Funghi Pasta sauces are divine, even the chips are bloody fantastic!!!! Keep it up guys, and I hope you're in Brunswick for many, many years to come!!!

One of my favourite places to get pizza in Melbourne! Big menu but everything is cooked well and these guys are always thinking outside the box when it comes to dessert. The Donut Snack Packs are awesome, the dough is fluffy and you can get all sorts of chocolate bar toppings. Staff are always really nice and friendly so I always enjoy visiting!
Shahmeer Ahmed
best place ever visited these guys are awesome best fooood ...yummmm
Khaled El
Yeah nah good tucker. Had me some creamy mushroom and avo sauce with bit of chicken I did. Cookies and cream dessert was a bit of alllright.
Linda Hamze
Had dinner here tonight, you guys didn't disappoint. Literally the best pizza and steak we've ever had. The Nutella scrolls were the perfect finish to the night, absolutely nothing to fault. You've set the bars very high!

Got dinner delivered, was here within half an hour which was great, food was hot and decent quality. Will order again thanks guys

That DSP was HUGE! it tasted absolutely amazing and I managed to finish it all to myself! Definitely recommend anyone in the area to give them a shot, and to top it off they're nutella filled! how good is that!
Maya Tucker
Great people, great pizza!! I highly recommend this place, fantastic service, great staff always smiling. Thanks guys for the awesome food!

We had our work Iftar there last night and it was the first time I had been there although I had heard a lot about it. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly and the food servings were very generous. We had a set menu however I will be returning to try other items on the menu. Thank you for a very good night we all enjoyed it.
Daniel Tram
The DSP is insane! Definitely recommended as the best way to end a pizza meal!

I don't travel North Side often, but when I do Old School Pizza always gets a visit. From their awesome pizza to their shakes and donut packs, they really are a venue worth travelling for!
Mevlude Turan
Tandoori pizza is to die for !! Can't eat a pizza anywhere else anymore
Ahmed Donñy
Worst place to eat in ramadan unsatisfied and would not recommend
FoodieInMel
For a pizza focus place, I was very disappointing with the margarita pizza we got, the base was dry, sauce was average, they not even using fresh basil. Service was a bit slow. Also not serving alcohol
Andre B
Pizzas are awesome but you can't go here without getting a donut snackpack. Kinder one is amazing and 8 donuts between 2 people is heaps! They come filled with nutella and the melt of the topping makes it the perfect warm dessert. 10/10

Four corner pizza - wow I was so impressed how large it was and the flavours were phenomenal. Well worth the wait and they had a great contactless pick up service which made me feel really safe. Thanks Old School!
Josh Thompson
Definitely lives up to the hype and expectations! The food is fantastic and the Wonka Shake was over the top and excellent with a huge ball of ice cream on top!

The entree sharing board was excellent value and had so much food that even between 4 people we couldn’t finish it all.

Great staff, really cool layout and atmosphere in the restaurant too. Will definitely be returning again.

Food was delicious, staff were very friendly. Great atmosphere, I enjoyed every moment I was here, can’t recommend this place enough 5/5.

We had a huge lunch today at Old School Pizza on Nicholson Street Coburg. The interior had plenty of seating for larger groups and there were tables outside, perfect for a sunny days.

Today we tried the massive pizza slice shaped pizza called the jawbreaker. We chose the vegetarian butternut pumpkin on recommendation from our waiting staff member and her recommendation was spot on. A really giant serve and plenty of topping on a thin base.

I tried the stone grill Tasting Platter which came with a top quality eye fillet, lamb skewers and cutlets and a super heated stone for you to cook this meat to your liking. I cannot stress enough how good the quality of this meat selection was, tender and flavoursome.

For dessert we tried a caramel Willy Wonker freak shake which was covered in delicious caramel treats and a solid dessert option by itself. We also tried Nutella crepes which of you were a Nutella fan were amazing as they are but made even more exceptional by the opting to pimp them up with cherry ripe.

Delicious all round. Thanks to the team at Old School Pizza for their hospitality this afternoon.
State Of Steph
We visited to try out their jawbreaker pizzas, stone grill and shakes! Our favourite was the meat, incredible quality and an absolute treat. The shake was also tasty but difficult to eat as with all monster shakes. The pizza was absolutely loaded, and had good flavour. We did find it a bit hard to eat as it wasn’t sliced though. Overall a good place for a family meal or casual celebration.
Mandy
After seeing photos of this restaurant on Instagram I had been dying to come and try the food.. And let's just say the food is not just instagrammable, it's super tasty too.
We ate a jawbreaker pepperoni pizza with pineapple which was delicious and huge! We then shared the Stonegrill meat tasting plate which to be honest I wasn't that excited about because you can get meat anywhere however the meat was of such high quality and so tasty and that mushroom sauce is to die for.
We then shared a caramilk wonka shake and the curly wurly donut snack pack. Oh my. I'm still thinking about those donuts today. They're filled with chocolate and topped with ice cream and bits of my fave childhood chocolate Curly Wurly.
We left there in pain from eating so much but didn't regret a thing. Highly recommend this place!!!
Tokenbroccolligirl
Pizza date night here was great! We ordered a classic marghertia which was just how I like it - lots of cheese and gooey. We shared at DSP at the end which omg worth the travel for, so good!
Dad-Ventures
It was a cold and miserable Sunday and Charlie and I were sprawled across the coach wondering if we had the energy to start putting up our Christmas decorations. The thinking was enough to make our bellies grumble, and I readily assured Charlie that Santa would most likely want us to eat some lunch first. Charlie agreed and on the count of three we both yelled out what we wanted to devour.

Charlie screamed, “Donuts!” and,
I yelled, “Pizza!”

We both cracked up laughing and before we knew it, we were headed to Old School Pizza & Stone Grill in Coburg, where pizza and donuts were their specialty. This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time and I was excited to experience the way Old School was redefining the way we eat pizza and serve delicious food. I had never been more impressed at an Instagram page as I was of @oldschoolpizzaofficial.

The menu here is on a next level of awesomeness and I knew we’d both have to activate our second stomachs if we wanted to make the most of this Dad-Venture! The Meat Lovers Jawbreaker pizza was in my sights and it was exactly what I had imagined it to be.

The monstrous pizza is shaped like a single slice of pizza and served on a hot metal tray. The whole outside of the pizza is lined in a thin, crisp crust that holds together the generous meat toppings that are neatly placed amongst folds of cheese and shredded ham. As I cut my first little square with the provided steak knife I felt this sense of extraordinaire that I have never felt with Pizza before. I felt almost special to be eating this grand and momentous thing that covered most of the table in front of me. It was heavenly. The toppings and BBQ sauce were having a smoky meat party in my mouth and the cheese was by no means oily or overdone. The crust was gently wood fired and each square inch of the pizza was perfection.

Charlie definitely felt exactly what her dad was feeling and put away four slices of her Margherita Pizza, a Personal Best for the almost three-year-old.

For dessert there could only be one thing. A Kinder Surprise Donut Snack Pack. This ladies and gentlemen boasts eight sugary donuts covered in layers of chocolate sauce filled with gooey Nutella and kinder chunks! Served beside four (yes four) scoops of vanilla ice cream, with mini cones in tow. This is what I mean by redefining food! The donuts were soft, light and oozed warm Nutella. It’s dessert heaven guys. I cant even put the words together to describe our excitement.

Watch the video of us smashing one of these donuts, then head down to Old School and try it for yourself.

My Verdict: Worth it, with Jawbreaker Pizza at $19.90 and small Donut Snack Pack for $16.
Thanks for reading our Dad-Venture. We have so many new and exciting things coming your way soon. Be sure to check out our new Instagram @dadventuresofficial and, our brand new website www.dad-ventures.com.

Love love love this place! One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Everything I have tried on the menu is delicious with reasonable prices. Keep it up guys 👍

Amazing pizzas, very flavoursome and generous amount of toppings. The pasta portions are also very generous and taste delicious. Highly recommend this place.

After seeing their desserts on insta I took the fam here for Sunday lunch. We had the bbq meat lovers pizza, Parma with chips and salad, lasagna, donut snack pack and soft drinks. Came to $90. Pizza and donut snack pack were excellent. Good vibe and got a park right out the front. Be sure to check the secret menu out.
The hip and stylish pizza eatery in Coburg! Love the neon lights and decor in the cafe. We had pizza and pastas and it was really good. Although they are known for their pizzas, pastas were really good and we liked it. It was cooked to al dente perfection and the ingredients went really well together.

They do get quite pack for dinner and they do takeaways as well if you would like to enjoy a pizza at home

Gotta love this place for their awesome pizzas!

But the real treat for me is their loaded donuts, waffles, and dessert pizzas! It's sugar madness at its best and I love them for it!

Came here for the hectic looking tower. Food was really good and great value for money also. Loved the atmosphere, the place was packed with people so there was a great energy.

1st time we went tonight... great staff manager was ultra friendly made sure our first time was a good experience. Food was nice and tasty... lamb pizza lamb needs caramlization .. kids lasagna was tiny.. my son 12 easily accounted for it.. increase by $3 and give them a drink and side chips.. happy kids happy parents.. pizzas were good.. overall like it.. not far will definitely 3back
FoodieMelbourne2019
One of the best pizza's I've had in Melbourne! The Jawbreaker pizzas are so big and crisp and the toppings always so fresh! Great place to go with friends. Will be back soon to try the steak on the stone.

Yum!! Was looking for a new pizza joint and this place is it. Super busy on the Sunday night, but food didn’t take too long to come out to us. We ordered a large four corners pizza and the sirloin stone grill with mushroom sauce + chips. Everything was delicious. Great portion sizes, great cheesy and generously topped pizzas and even the chips were seasoned to perfection. Will be back pretty soon I’m sure!
Northern Foodie
The marketing team is doing a great job, because they really enticed me to finally come along and check out all the hype. And I must say... I probablyyyyy won’t be going back. The pizzas are delicious but there are several other places with great pizzas also so it’s nothing special.

What really put me off was the service, Your staff are sweet and kind but could do with more training. I had to keep prompting the staff to do their job, simple things such as taking our order, bringing our drinks, bringing water, then bringing our second meal which we waited for quite some time.

We also had the Parma with Bolognese sauce which I thought would of been a little more generous in size.

I’m really saddened for the family behind this restaurant because the vision is great and could have so more potential, would suggest investing in higher trained staff.
Lauren Pinch
Came here for the pizza, instead ordered a stone grill, milkshake and donuts. Old School literally has it all, it's one of the best menus I have come across which means one visit clearly isn't enough. I will see you again soon OSP

I’ve had a craving for the old-fashioned style pizzas I grew up with (or ‘proper pizzas’ as my partner calls them), and Old School Pizza definitely lives up to its name. We ordered two large pizzas between us, the Napoletana/Supreme and Aussie/Satay chicken - and they were huge, and excellent value! They had thick, crispy crusts and very generous toppings. I loved my Napoletana/Supreme pizza, and also tried the Aussie, which was nice although I wouldn’t have minded even more egg on the top. The garlic bread was good, and chips were ok. The delivery service was super efficient. Thoroughly enjoyed the pizzas, and will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
Sweetoothbrunches
Heading in to celebrate world chocolate day I was always going to feast. I ordered literally everything I could with a kinder nutella jawbreaker, mini Wonka freakshake and a cherry ripe doughnut snackpack. The jawbreaker is huge and a challenge to finish all in one go on your own. The freakshake may have said mini but was loaded with icecream and other goodies. I was literally rolling out the door stuffed full of chocolatey goodness and taking home my snackpack.
Quince And Cheese
This spot lives up to the name. It's classic, chewy cheesy pizza with basic topping options - nothing too fancy. That said, there is a very subtle west Asian influence that inspires some interesting topping choices like haloumi and sujuk. The vegetarian is a comforting, familiar choice and provides pretty decent value for money at under $20 for a large.
Burgers Of Melbourne
Pizza, Stone Grill, Shakes, Jaw Breakers, Pasta and more. Old School Pizza has it all and is the best place to go for a quality feed! Not just for show, the food here is actually amazing!

Old School Pizza with a new vibrant twist!
Loved the atmosphere with the MOOD lighting and pretty pink neon light 😍
We tried:
- Mexicana Jawbreaker
- Willy Wonka Shake
Both were great but the freak shake was an ABSOLUTE standout being a 5/5! 🤤
Would recommend to anyone wanting a unique pizza and shake experience!
Cludy Foodie
This restaurant has a great selection of sweet and savory dishes!

The venue is modern and welcoming, staff very attentive and friendly.

My favorites are the lasagna and their wonka shake with chocolate. The bolognese sauce was really rich in flavor and the serving was huge. Definitely one of the best lasagnas I have tried so far!

The Wonka Shake is crazy. I shared it with a friend and it was still quite a bit! Tasted lovely tho.

Will definitely come back and try more of their menu.

Without a doubt, one of the best pizza places I have ever tried. If you can take spicy, don’t miss the peri peri chicken pizza. 10/10 for their effort and taste!

Me and the gang pull up to this joint and let it skraa-taa-taa all the time you know g. The chicken and doughnuts and absolutely good and they play some het aswell

i woudl say this is one of the best restaurants i have ever been to!~!!!!! no cap the jaw breaker pizza was marvellous and their donuts were mouth watering. their chicken and rice was perfecto!!!!!
Melbournefoodfind
Hands down the best restaurant I have ever been too. The owner/manager is amazingly nice and has admirable customer service skills. Their food is 10/10 quality and comes in decent portion sizes to fill you up. Come here at least once a month for the jawbreaker pizzas and lasagne as I’m hooked on the melt in your mouth cheese. Not to mention their donut snack packs are to die for!! Only room for improvement is the service is sometimes not up to scratch. It usually takes a very long time for our order to be taken even when it is not overly busy and staff is walking past our table constantly.
Whalesfoodadventure
Got a half bbq chicken half vegetarian to take away. Pizza was good but nothing spectacular. The pizza dough was probably the let down. service was really slow. We waited 45 minutes for a pizza as the counter lady took my name down different.
Adam Sarfati
Love this place its no frills but its the classic style of pizza you grew up with and know and love. Service is always friendly and fast. See you again soon guys!

My family and I moved to Coburg North 1.5 years ago and still don’t have a regular pizza place, so we gave Old School a try. Got takeaway pizza tonight: Cappricosa and Supreme. Both were excellent. Base was thin, but crust was maybe a bit too crunchy. A bit like a cracker. The top was LOADED with toppings and cheese, unlike fancier pizza places that like to keep it minimal. I’m not judging, just trying to be informative.

Personally, I really enjoy the pizza here and will order from here again. Does Old School deserve a 4.6/5 on Zomato though? Nope. It’s a 3.5/5. Most other places deserve a 2.5 out of 5 and are overrated, IMO. I try them because they get a good rating, only to find they don’t deserve. Old School deserve a very good rating, but not one a great rating that rivals the absolute best of the best in Melbourne!!!

Great pizza though. Very old school takeaway, but of higher than usual quality.

Haven’t tried the desserts though. We may have to go there and try it out one day!!
Yolanda Chintanu
I love this place! The pizza was delicious! We ordered 2 family size pizza and they could feed 8 persons. My favorite was steak on stone grill. It was very tasty and affordable.
Kate K
I’d been to Old School’s old location many times and had nothing but excellent food and service.
Unfortunately our first visit to their new location was not as good. We ordered a pizza and a chicken parma. The parma came out and looked pretty good although the chips were half cooked. However I was left waiting for my pizza for another 20+ minutes. That’s a long time to wait for your dinner when the other person at your table has already finished their meal.
Nia
Came here for dinner with a friend on a Friday night. They were very busy so it took at least 30 minutes for us to get our food. My friend had the chicken parma and I had the slow cooked lamb pizza. The parma was pretty standard. The pizza was average- the meat and pizza itself were very dry. There's lots of other items on the menu we'd like to try and see if they are better than what we ordered this time.
AusTurk Food Blogger
Old school pizza in Coburg for pasta tonight, best to stick to their desserts though. Pasta was Spaghetti Pollo Fungi; the pasta was cut into pieces and not possible to twirl around my fork which made it awkward to eat, sauce was too runny and not enough seasoning, mushrooms were barely cooked hence did not get the best flavor out of them, the chicken was dry and way to big and thick to eat with the pasta...... #foodporn #foodblogger #foodblogging #pasta #italianfood
Food Josh
We ordered the Jawbreaker slice after seeing it on their instagram, doubtful that it could be as big as it appears in the photos. Boy, were we wrong! The jawbreaker was sensational. It was a perfectly cooked GIGANTIC slice of pizza. It simply blew our minds, we're going to have to come back to try all the flavours, and to do the stone grill!
Claire & Eric
The pizzas were average like any other local pizzas. The base was thin, had decent toppings and the flavour was simple. For the price you pay, you can come across better pizza joints in the area.
Bigmelbappetite
What a great selection for savoury or sweet! I was drawn to this place from all the crazy dessert pictures on Instagram but fell in love with the shakshukka! Great dish guys 🙌
Trekking Food
The lasagne was nice and the gamberi papparedele is one of the best pastas I've ever had! The garlic oil had just enough chilli, the parsley & cherry tomatoes added some freshness. The prawns were perfectly cooked and fresh, there were a lot of them too! If you like sparkling apple juice, try this brand. It was so refreshing and you can actually taste the apples. We didn't know there was a specials menu until we saw it on the table next to us, must try next time. The service was great and a big thanks to Mj.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: a fairly new cafe situated in the humble surburb that is Coburg. Luckily it wasn’t too bustling on a weekend - but it wasn’t too quiet either.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the double stack waffles and vanilla is amazing - think perfectly crispy waffles with fluffy pancakes dripped with delicious chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream to balance the richness out. The big breakfast is also another winner - it’s simple yet cooked well.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I would have liked the spinach to be more flavoursome in the big breakfast - but overall a very wholesome dish.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: A great place for either breakfast, lunch or dinner! Their menu caters for all!

Came here for their namesake - Pizza - with the fam bam. I have to say we were pretty disappointed.

The pizza was alright, but just alright, nothing special. The bbq meat lovers and 'old school pizza' tasted like something you would get from any cheap pizza joint, which is ok (it wasn't inedible) but for the price you pay you would be expecting something really amazing - especially from a place called Old School Pizza.

We didn't have any of the other things - milkshakes etc - so perhaps they are good. But if you want a really good quality pizza, I'd go somewhere else.
Madison
Old School Pizza is ok. Just... ok. The pizza bases are flat and uninspiring. The toppings are standard. The service was seriously slow (we weren’t attended to at all aside from when we called them over). It’s overpriced by about $10. It’s a step above Pizza Hut. I would suggest going elsewhere for proper Italian pizza.

Checked out this place yesterday with hubby and kids and really is nothing special. We ordered the wild mushroom and ragu gnocchi from the special menu, a small ham and cheese pizza (for the kids) and the tandoori chicken pizza with a small bowl of chips.
The pasta was basically pan fried gnocchi with a bit of mushroom. Found a couple pieces of fat (jelly bits) from the ragu but really no meat in there. And the pizza was ordinary pizza you can get from your local takeaway.

Too bad all the 5 star ratings are from food bloggers who get payed or get free food to leave high reviews.
The High Tea Girl
Whatever meal you’re after- breakfast, lunch or dinner Old School Pizza have you covered.
They do shakes in two sizes, we got the ‘small’ both were visually attractive but all the flavours were there. My favourite was the Willy Wonka (lollipops and sour straps are just a perfect treat for a little one).
You cannot go past their pancake waffle stacks (may need to share these :) ). There are a few flavours to choose from cherry ripe, curly whirly and kinder.
The young lady who looked after us was wonderful. Super friendly and a little machine- making shakes and serving all the guests, just impressive to watch.
Thanks for a great experience Old School Pizza :)
Food Fiend Melbourne
I have been eyeing off Old School Pizza on Instagram for ages, especially their plate sized pizza slices! I didn’t realise how extensive their menu was, so I was excited when I was invited to visit and try their new pancake/waffle stack.

I took a friend on a cute brunch date and we were going to order two of the stacks, but decided to have one sweet and one savoury dish. I’m glad we decided to do that, because both the serves were absolutely massive and there was no way we could have finished two sweet dishes that size. We started with coffees and said no to trying their freak shakes as we wanted to save ourselves for the mains.

My friend ordered the smashed avocado with a side of bacon and we both gasped when it was brought to the table – it was huge! It was served on open focaccia bread and came with two poached eggs on top and a very generous serve of avocado, tomato and feta. The best thing about this dish was the size at a regular price. I reckon it was double the size of a standard, Melbourne smashed avo.

I couldn’t go past ordering the Curly Wurly pancake/waffle stack. I was originally planning on getting the Kinder Surprise, but Curly Wurly is my favourite nostalgic chocolate. Again, the serving size was absolutely massive! It was a stack of two waffles and two pancakes topped with a massive scoop of honeycomb ice-cream and surrounded by wafer sticks, chunks of curly Wurly and fresh strawberries. I decided to just attack the waffles with the ice cream and strawberries and snacked on the choccie afterwards. I asked the waitress if anyone had every finished it, and she said that only two people had and one of them was a body builder on cheat day.

Georgia, the waitress who looked after us, was an absolute legend. She checked in on us regularly and made sure that we always had everything that we needed and also took great pride in making my pancakes look amazing.

If you live out this way, or are ever in the neighbourhood, definitely hit up Old School Pizza – definitely pay them a visit. I will definitely go back soon to try the pizzas – they looked outstanding.

A great venue, with great food and fantastic staff. Thanks for having us, team! ☺
Dine And Dash
Popped into the Old School Pizza in Nicholson St, Coburg to try their famous Pancake and Waffle Stack. We had ours with the Kinder Surprise flavours but you could choose from 3 other flavours. Surprisingly the dessert was not overly sweet and tasted delicious! It was a generous serve as well. Their menu is vast including many pizzas, pasta's, schnitzels, steaks and salads. Plus a great choice of desserts. The decor is pleasant enough and the service was great with friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely need to come back to try something else - it's worth going back to school for!!
Tinmans Treats
I recently visited Old School Pizza & Stonegrill’s new premises which has moved a few doors down.

I was invited to try the new pancake and waffle stack, for those who can’t decide between pancakes and waffles, and want something decadent. I couldn’t imagine anyone eating a whole one, so I suggest sharing it between 2 or 3. It was pretty tasty though, it was a good waffle. They come in four themes: kinder, cherry ripe, curly wurly and chomp. We also had some crazy milkshakes. They are on trend, not my preference but I can’t fault them.

The reason why this place is great is actually their breakfast / brunch options. Really well done. Plentiful and cooked well. We had the smashed avo and the big breakfast. No frills but with all the thrills. Good value for the cost.

The other reason why this place is great was the service. The person who served us was friendly, attentive and responsive. In the instragram world, customer service is a commodity and Old School have this in spades.

I like the new premises. The fit out has been done nicely, so it feels like a pizza place would at night, and a café during the day. I was curious to see people turning up relatively early in the morning for brunch. It’s good that people can see past the name (which has the word pizza on it) and realise they have variety in their menu.

Ultimately, Old School is a great café, with a mix of standard breakfast/brunch options done really well, some visually appealing sweet options for the big kid inside you, and stellar customer service that will make you come back for more.
We were lucky to be invited to check out their breakfast menu. Not only does old school pizza have crazy looking pizzas they also serve breakfast from 8am-1pm.

We got the big breakfast which had everything a big breakfast could have. We also tried the curly whirly pancake and waffle stack which was the craziest pancake and waffle snack I’ve ever seen. With a massive scoop of ice cream I would recommend 4-6 people to share this ! The freak shakes had both a large and baby option. The shakes were delicious and topped with a mountain of ice cream.

Great vibe and can’t wait to check out their pizzas .

Amazing pizza, crust was perfect and the base was not too thick and not too thin. I got the greek lamb pizza, amazingly generous. this is defiantly my favourite pizza so far because of how rich in flavour it is. Would defiantly recommend.

(Disclaimer: True rating is 3.5 however on Zomato this is closer to a 4). The pancake waffle stack at Old School Pizza definitely doesn’t lack in the photogenic department – I mean, DANG! It looks like a pile of chocolatey, sweet goodness and (surprise, surprise) that’s exactly what it tastes like. This is probably the most Instagrammable dessert brunch dish we have ever seen in real life.
Good Food Good Mood
I was so excited to be invited to Old School pizza. Their crazy shakes and pancake waffle stacks have been blowing my mind on the gram and I finally got to experience the epic deliciousness for myself. Also a special mention for the most amazing waitress we had, super accommodating and truly lovely.

My fellow foodie and I met up with another foodie couple and therefore got to try not only the stacks but also some savoury items well worth checking out too. Because of all the food we opted to get the smaller version of the shakes which believe me are still super impressive.

We went for the golden ticket and the Willy Wonka which was recommended. I don’t think I’ve ever had a blue heaven milkshakes before but I surprisingly found myself quite enjoying it, particularly with the little candies on top of the yummy strawberry ice cream which threw me all the way back to my childhood.

The savoury dishes were the smashed avocado which was a really great rendition on Turkish bread so it felt a little lighter than a sourdough version which equipped me to tackle the stacks later on. I also loved the flavoursome blistered tomatoes with this and the perfect Persian feta. I find some feta varieties too salty but this one was AMAZING. The poached egg was free range too which is really important to me.

The big breakfast was our other savoury and this boasted a yummy hash brown, tasty beans and beef rashers which was something I hadn’t tried before. Another great dish but of course the star of the show was the stacks. We had both the cherry ripe and the Kinder and I can’t quite decide which one was more stellar.

These stunningly presented, mind blowing utterly delicious creations are comprised of two pancakes and two superbly made waffles and a truckload of Nutella. They look sensational and they taste even better although definitely share this dish otherwise you’ll be coming down from a pretty serious sugar high later on. In fact I’d suggest going with a few friends so you can order both because I would thoroughly recommend the pair of them. I’ll definitely be back to try the DSP!!

Had the pleasure of visiting Old School Pizza on the weekend, and what a great visit it was! We were greeted when we arrived by friendly staff. We went at breakfast time, and it was a beautiful day so I we were able to sit outside which was nice! We tried a the a pancake waffle stack each - I had the curly Wurly and my partner had the kinder surprise. Wow. We were both completely impressed - one of the best sweet breakfasts I’ve had I. Melb! The pancakes and waffles were fluffy and light. The taste of the caramel and the little pieces of curly Wurly on my dish were just AMAZING - and it really took me back to when I was a kid! The kinder one was delicious too, and the abundance of Nutella was just divine. I love the big generous scoop of ice cream on the top of each stack. In future I will bring an extra 2 friends to share with me as the stack is huge!! Definitely a real treat. Thankyou for having us and we look forward to coming back quick sticks to try the pizza - it smelt amazing!!!!

Surely, a favorite spot to have lunch, dinner or even take away for the local and other neighborhoods. The restaurant is also easily accessible by tram and plenty of car parks on the street. We’re glad to be invited to try their newest dessert dish “The Pancake and Waffle Stack”. The restaurant was spacious and well decorated; It’s also a versatile spot to organise any private events.

Old school pizza was recommended to me and they didn’t disappoint. I have been a regular for awhile now. Pizza is not too thick and generous with toppings. Nice variety of food and especially with the new location and menu the stone grill is a must to try! Good service and nice atmosphere. One little thing, would be nice if the meat for the stone grill came out seasoned 🤗

Had the new Curly Wurly pancake/waffle stack for brunch. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. First of all $24, which is very steep. Did not present as advertised. Very small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Pancakes were hard and dry, not soft and fluffy. I think the waffles were the Toscano brand from Coles, not homemade. Would not recommend. Staff were lovely.

Came here with a friend, we went there because the gnocchi on Instagram looked tasty but turned out they don’t have it anymore (menus on their website & Zomato aren’t updated) I wish I had of known this before hand- although the alternative pasta we had ordered was still nice. Otherwise the pizza tastes like your local pizza shop pizza but cool novelty of the triangle pizza slice shape.

Amazing! We passed the store many times and just tried it as dinner today. We ordered Mexican pizza and chicken salad. Food was fresh and it had many toppings on the pizza. Just try many pizzas in Melbourne for a long time, I feel this pizza is really good and will order soon

Amazing pizza, crust is crispy and base is not too thick and not too thin. I got the greek lamb pizza, very generous with toppings with lots of meat. Flavour combination of this one is great, my favourite so far. Even though they are always busy, they always have great customer service. Will definitely be back.
J
Could not fault. Base was perfect, thin and firm, and toppings very generous. Cheerful, helpful staff, lovely venue, and some to take home to the fam. Will return.

Love this place... the food is amazing and never a let down. My favourite is the nochi with vegetables. Yum! My son loves the extravagant range of milkshakes available. The place its self could do with a reno although I have heard they may be moving anyway ??

As the name says, it’s Old School Pizza. The bases are thicker than the current Neopolitan Style trend amongst Melbourne’s new age Italian Restaurants.

Toppings are generous and of good quality. They make their dough and shred their mozzarella daily!

Ordering takeaway we got a Garlic Bread, BBQ Chicken and Capriciosa. All three were great! The garlic bread was cooked perfectly with lots of butter and garlic. Both pizzas had generous toppings, were not too greasy and their homemade BBQ sauce is crazy good.

Should mention that the online ordering system is super easy and pick up quick for a Friday night at only 15mins.

The menu offers a lot of variety with standard & gourmet pizzas, pastas, salads, sides and some damn good looking desserts. Did someone say Donut Snack Packs?!

Highly recommend if your in the area and just hanging for some old school pizza!
DamoForce Food
The jaw breaker is where its at!! Go OTT with this slice of pizza. They have a great range of topping to try as well. The donut snack packs are something worth trying as well. Nutella filled dough loaded with sweets. YUM!
* Went back for the stone grill and it was amazing!!

There's an off-menu special bruschetta pizza that I saw on their Instagram page, I've had it twice now and it's my favourite pizza on the menu. Loaded with lots of tomato, cheese and the garlic base is so good! Another favourite is the gnocchi and there's 5 or 6 sauces you can choose. Really soft gnocchi, very light and just the right amount of cheese. If you can't decide between pizza or pasta, just get both because it's all delicious.

We are (or were) regular, loyal customers to Old School Pizza. Usually ordering every Saturday evening.
Ordered pizza tonight, no pizza after an hour and twenty minutes after placing my order. Call up to find out where it is. I was told that there was no pizza, they had run out of dough.
Not only was I not going to receive my order, they didn't even bother to call when I ordered to let me know. I only found out when I rang because my order was SO late.
Terrible customer service. No appreciation for loyal customers.
You can have great pizza but if your service is terrible, I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. Good bye old school pizza plenty of other quality pizza joints in the area.
Yumyumfoodyum
Came to Old School Pizza to try the Jaw breaker pizza, a mega giant single slice and I wasn’t disappointed! You can get any classic pizza in Jaw breaker form and for just under $20 it is totally worth it.

I ordered the BBQ chicken and after my obligatory novelty photos, I took a bite and was immediately impressed by the quality of chicken - no processed crap here! The barbecue sauce was not too sweet, perfectly tangy and present in just the right amount. Drool!

My dinner mates ordered the supreme, volcano capriciosa and the spicy sujuk and were all satisfied and left with happy tummies. The service was friendly and fast and the decor was nice too.

My only complaint is because the roof is so low the noise level is super high as all the sounds bounce off the roof. It was almost unbearably loud in there at one point, but we had finished stuffing our faces by then so just left. I think they are moving soon though (yay!) so I will wait until this happens before I dine in again (would 100% get take away though).

I just went w/ my boyfriend tonight we order the pizza that come with the four flavors just a few misunderstanding with the change of one of the quarter pizza but nothing to highlight the food was delicious; as the pizza was amazing we want to try the desserts in this case the donuts they are JUST PERFECT for Nutella and chocolate lovers Is just love made dessert they serve with two different scoops of ice cream vanilla was alright but the other one taste strange only a few advice a little bit of fruit strawberries, bananas won’t go bad with the donuts.
We will come back to try your enormous pizza
Best wishes guys you are doing good
Marco
It is a pizza not a pie, the topping was at least 1 inch thick, also ‘old school pizza’ why aren’t you using nice double smoked ham? Otherwise OK
Hangry Jules
Delicious and unique flavours of pizza here🤤 we tried pumpkin pizza (contains goat cheese) for $18.50 (large). It was definitely enough for two ppl 😊 Other than that, the base was a little bit thinner than the usual classic base, but there's enough carbs on the toppings anyways😝 I loved that there was no thick edge bits cus that meant we werent gna waste the edges of the pizza!

Overall, it was all 😊 but I hope unisex toilet can somehow be renovated so that we can use more than just one unisex toilet or at least wash the hands outside the loo (we just wanted to wash hands but had to wait half an hour for it). I suggest bringing your own wet wipes so you dont need to wait for the toilet to free up 👌🏻

Oh Boy! Its great to come to a pizza place where people actually dine inside and outside. Ain't your typical dingy shop, but rather nice and welcoming. Staff was pretty attentive even on a saturday night rush. good on ya!

Pizzas are pretty good as they are fresh out of the oven and what you expect from a pizza. a good portion of ingredients, not soggy in oil, but greasy enough for an amazing Saturday night. What can I say, if the misso is pleased. The boys would be frothing to come here. Good work old school pizza.

I found this place on Instagram and when I came to Melbourne I decided to check it out. I loved it! My partner and I were really hungry so we decided to order a lot. We ordered their gourmet pizza , seafood pasta and for dessert I got their kids size chocolate monster shake! When the waitress brought out the second dish my jaw almost fell off when I saw the size of it. The seafood that was in the pasta was incredible and the amount of it you get is surprising! I never ate that much seafood at once! The presentation was great too. When I couldn’t breathe because of the sheer volume of food, I saw my dessert coming... and then I realised that im going to have a food coma! That kids size shake was awesome! But so many calories! Haha.

Took only half a point off for the atmosphere. I hope when these guys move to another place they will change their interior design and will get their own style for their food that they serve.

Will definitely come back!

Amazing pizzas. Base was nice and thin. Loaded with even amount of toppings. Cannot fault the pizzas. My husband had the wings with added veggies. Wings were evenly coated with sauce and veggies cooked well. Will be going back for some more
Nicole Tang
Quite ordinary in their appearance, with an upgrade in the venue style/decor a potential suggestion, their food is surprisingly awesome! Pizzas are a thicker base than the current Neopolitan-style trend amongst Melbourne's new-age Italian restaurants, with Old School Pizza's version more in line with those coming out of a small take-away kitchen, but better. Their toppings are extremely generous, further adding to the delicious flavours. Although 'old school' in some ways, they keep up with modern trends in other ways. Their pasta was decent, and salad amazingly generous in serving size and balanced seasoning, but you must save room for their desserts, with loaded donut snack packs the perfect way to end the meal, as well as their loaded freakshakes and other sweet options!

I don't usually write reviews, but feel compelled to because this was quite possibly the BEST gnocchi(and pizza) I have ever had.
I have never had a better tasting sauce in pasta in my life - they even allowed me to change it from the original marinara type sauce that usually comes with seafood for a cream type one with no issues. Speaking of seafood, there was SO much of it.

The brunette girl who served me had incredible customer service, which is a nice change from other places I've visited. Don't let her go. She even offered to help me take my order to my car - definitely went the extra mile!

I will be back, and can't wait to have my gnocchi again!
YesNoMelbourne
Came here just for dessert was definately wasn’t disappointed
I got the salted caramel shake and the kinder suprise dsp

The place smelt amazing and the pizzas from other tables looked amazing
Only downfall is the food took way too long to come out it felt like an hour

The shake is sooo thick and filled with toppings
and the dsp is full of Nutella oozing goodness inside!

Would definately recommend
J.c2
my friend and I were wanting to try DSP’s so came to this place as it was close for us and ordered the unicorn DSP. They looked delicious when they came to our table but when trying to cut into it the bottom of the donuts were hard and tasted stale and were hard to chew. They did not taste fresh, more like microwaved. Would not come back. Very disappointing.

They say they provide vegan cheese but on the four occasions I've been there, they've run out... I end up getting a vegetarian no cheese with perhaps pumpkin and it's so bland. This is NOT the fault of a veggie pizza, you only need to go to Shop 225, Red Sparrow, Cornish Arms etc to see how great veg pizzas can be and very gourmet style too. Old School has the thin dry crusts that stab you in the mouth if you don't cheese small pieces at a time. The acoustics here are terrible too, it's a family friendly place which is always great but it is painfully loud when the TV is blaring. Service is friendly and my family love their meat or vegetarian pizzas (the amount of cheese is generous), but after one too many barely edible pizzas, I can't go back.
MsConnoisseur
Melbourne takes its pizza very seriously and we have so many amazing options, recently wood fire varieties, that are more traditionally Italian style are popular. Old school Pizza made me step back in time when the most popular form of pizza was US style, with lots of toppings. Finally a place you can enjoy and no longer have bad memories of Pizza Hut.

They have made the local takeaway pizza shop trendy and a place you don’t just need to pick up and go. Old school is the name but they have definitely put a new school spin on it.

Doughnut Snack Pack. Nutella stuffed pizza balls, strawberries, ice cream and waffle. Delicious and would go back anytime for these. The pizza was also really good. We had a classic BBQ chicken, the best I have had. The chicken was not processed, rubbery or dry. Good amount of toppings and the BBQ sauce tasted better than supermarket quality you get at other places. We also tried a gourmet pizza, Spicy Sucuk which is Turkish sausage, crumbled halumi, roasted peppers, rocket and cherry tomatoes. What a fantastic combination of flavors.

My Key 3 Pointers
. DSP is insta worthy but most importantly stomach worthy
. The DSP is talked about but the pizza needs its own crown
. Can’t wait to go back and try some more old time favorites. Mexicana and Supreme your next.

The Doughnut Snack Packs at this place are worth travelling for. They are a pack of pizza dough scrolls FILLED WITH NUTELLA and are absolutely delicious!! We also tried the Jawbreaker giant pizza slices in the Margherita and the Pepperoni which were both really flavourful. Nice crispy base cooked perfectly too. I highly recommend!

All you need to do is order the DSP - Old School Pizza are the masters and have come up with a genius move to inject Nutella into the DSPs then load them with candy. If you are feeling daring, the Nutella jaw breaker is also a winner.
Melbourne Food Journey
Lovely service with a super-clean, modern fit-out!
I was so impressed by the Donut Snack Pack (or DSP)- soft, warm nutella-filled donuts covered in the sweetest toppings! You have to try 😍 The Spicy Sujuk Pizza had a lot of flavour and was super fresh, will definitely return.
@twogoodtoresist
Old school pizzeria invited us to try their new doughnut snack pack.. They have two choices, either the unicorn (pictured) or the nutella berry.. The donuts were to die for! Crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside, filled with nutella as well!! The icecream and lollies were a great combo too. The staff were really friendly and you can tell they take pride in what they do. We can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!
Connie
Mmm loved their Donut snack Packs! I would definitely recommend the unicorn one with Nutella stuffed donuts and Marshmallows and bubblegum icecream
Melbourne To Mouth
The first trip out to Old School Pizza was to indulge in their newly invented Doughnut Snack Pack. You've all heard of the HSP, but these guys are taking it to the next level with their Nutella stuffed pizza base created doughnuts. Baked (not fried) in the pizza oven and topped with almost every imaginable sweet thing you can think of, these are definitely worth the indulgence. A Berry DSP will see your Nutella topped with strawberries, vanilla ice cream and chocolate topping. If you prefer your strawberry in ice cream form, give their Unicorn DSP a go. If shakes are more your thing, there are plenty to choose from; Bubblegum, Strawberry, Salted Caramel and a classic chocolate come in mini and large forms. The mini ones are kid sized and probably less of a horror story for your dentist (we have Universal Health care for a reason, eat everything you want and use it!).

Not only are Old School purveyors of amazing desserts and shakes, they churn out some astronomical pizza and pasta too. Their tandoori chicken pizza is easily the best I've ever had. I'm even gonna go out on a limb and say I enjoyed their Margherita more than the supposed 'best Margherita in the world' from one suburb over... I'm going back to try their gnocchi and pasta... and maybe one more DSP...

Full (and probably funnier) review on the blog now, link in bio :)

Went here a few nights ago and can I say these guys have the most Amazing donut snack pack with Nutella filled donuts !!! So generous in portion size and tasty 😍 I will be back for sure
@foodtom
Solid place, had a dsp was absolutely amazing! It was nutella stuffed and loaded with so much sugar that if you ever need a sugar fix, hit these guys up! I'll definetly be going again!
Spudsburgeradventures
Cool venue in Brunswick west that not the boy does some wicked pizzas, but also pastas and other classic mains. They also have a great dessert menu at super affordable prices, the doughnut snack pack (DSP) is the pick though, great value and the perfect sweet treat, that said make sure you're hungry or bring your mates because the serves are huge! Service was top notch too, really friendly and made sure all our food was good, which of course it was.

Came here for the jawbreaker slices of pizza and wasn't disappointed. Had a margarita with pineapple and sujuck. That was the highlight for me.
BBQ chicken was alright, nothing too special. Probably needed more bbq sauce, tasted a little dry.

Salad was surprisingly good. Never thought I would have say that.
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Little slow to clean tables though. Had empty plates for ages before anyone took them away.

Overall a good night.
Eating With Ebony
I got the Greek lamb pizza without olives and it was amazing! It had loads of meat, it was basically a souvlaki on a pizza 😍 but what my friends and I really went to this place for was there donut hsp! I got the unicorn one & it was delicious. It was a nice surprise that the donuts had Nutella inside as well 🍩🍕

Shared a pizza and Parma, pizza was ok and the Parma tasted funny. Service was good. Milkshakes look epic and alluring, haven't tried any though.

Old school is right, these guys are still dishing out pizzas like back in the day. Back when Melbourne wasn't one of the best pizza producers in the world.

That's about all that's right about these pizzas though. Half a pig served up on every pizza.

Jalapeños on the Mexican were a nice touch though

Got pizza delivery to my friends house, a massive range of pizzas to choose from. We were very happy with the quality that arrived! Next time we will have to go in to try their shakes!!

Boyfriend and I ordered UberEats for dinner today, we ordered the Salmon risotto with mussels and pollo funghi pasta, it was hands down the best risotto we've ever tasted!

Decided to try this place when our usual joint Zinzani (just around the corner on Melville Rd) was closed for Easter. Pictures looked good online and the prices were reasonable but the pizza was a huge let down. Anywhere that still refers to the fake shredded unidentified meat as "ham" is just fooling themselves. A Capriccosa was mounded in it and not much else so the overall taste was bland. The staff were nice enough and the prices are good so maybe if you found a winner pizza on the menu it'd be worth it. It seemed to have a nice atmosphere in the restaurant too if you wanted to eat in.
Mishka
Just ordered online via UberEats. Super happy with our order. We had the Greek lamb pizza and the ortolano (vegetarian) and both were delicious. We were surprised by how quick they came too. Only 20min from putting the order on UberEats to arriving at our door!
Saza_Lives_To_Eat
Very average. Ordered a home made gnocchi with gamberi prawns. Honestly I've made better pasta at home. It had hardly any sauce and the gnocchi was kinda heavy. The pizza was okay but nothing spesh. Doesn't taste like
It's made from scratch. Pizza base and sauce tastes the exact same as dominoes so I don't think it was made from scratch. Prices are a bit high for this type of food. No air conditioning either. Very noisy place also and the seats were soft so you sank down.

Edit. Revisited a couple times due to friends telling me the place was good. Decided to give this place another go and to try it again when we were given a table 2/5 times we went we were given a table. New location, the decor is very nice and modern. The pizza is thin crust with heaps of toppings just the way we like. However very unprofessionally managed. Other times when we visited we have left really annoyed. If half the restaurant is empty and they have 4 seat and 2 seat tables available, and if you get a party of 6 -10 the usual thing to do would be join a table or two together. Every other restaurant accommodates because they want to make money. Anyway don’t bother going because they turn customers away if there are more than 2-4 of you -and even when the restaurant is half full. There are plenty of better places to spend your money!!
