Review Yiannis Pantheon Cakes - Coburg

We've been coming here for over 20 years. Very clean, always fresh cakes and biscuits, they really know their sweets. One of Melbourne's institutions. Current favourite is the trifle cake. Their custard cream is amazing.

There's such a variety of eateries along Sydney Road and the display @yiannispantheoncakes_coburg had me immediately walking in piquing my curiosity. I didn't leave empty handed of course snagging a variety of items which were a tasty treat to enjoy over several days. I liked the chocolate cake and there's this other item of two sponge discs sandwiching a filling with chocolate on the outside. Lovely trying new things! #Greekfood #cakes #baklava #biscuits #pastries #dessert #sweettooth #foodcoma #foodie #melbournefood #sydneyrdbrunswick @zomatomelb

The best cake in the town, nice customer service. I loved your cake and can’t wait to order next one. But you must include some more flavors to your cakes.

Stumbled across this amazing cake shop 9 years ago and I have been a customer ever since! They have delicious sweets and great coffee with very friendly service. It's our go to place for every occasion!

Beautiful cakes and desserts and the best greek biscuits I have ever tasted. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Occasionally the cakes are not as fresh but totally understandable during COVID. It's best to ask and they are very honest. I always go back for coffee and cake.

Very nice desert & drinks, Waitresses are hhhot too, we only had 1/2 of Desert, taking other 1/2 home, they had, nice Greek music on too, just to soft, I asked to turn it up but, they didn't, they thought I would have started dancing, very pricey, but too rich & tasty, was worth it, for a try.

Delicious desserts. Young woman that worked there was rude and demeaning. Not professional service at all. Customers can also be very rude here.

This cake shop must be without a doubt the king of Greek cake shops. Been around a long time with a tradition of quality cakes and coffee.
A trip to Coburg would not be the same without visiting the legend. All cakes I have purchased are fresh and delicious and the staff have extensive knowledge and good customer service. It is a friendly family environment and kid friendly and my son enjoys his babycinos from Yiannis Cakes.
Also a selection of light snacks hit the spot. Their birthday cakes made to order are special and amazing!
The cafe is spacious and I enjoy getting a table outside, although hard to get.
This place will not disapoint.

The best cake shop in Melbourne. We have been ordering our cakes, and buying our desserts from them for years! Best customer service, best prices, and best tasting desserts. We tried other cake shops in Brunswick, but had the worst experience with these others. Definitely recommended!

Pretty average baklava. I was hoping for a true Greek baklava which is super sweet and syrupy. Ended up with a dry baklava. So disappointing!

The only thing I've been getting from the shop is spanakopita which is very reasonably priced and yummy I think. Haven't tried other things so cannot comment, except for yoyos and baklavas that my friend got me but since I don't have a sweet tooth I didn't like them at all.

Value for money: $4, huge portion size, freshly baked 6/10 Overall score: 5.5/10. Thanks Mel for the recommendation here..but sadly I wasn't overly impressed. You could look at the size and price of this and think that the slice should score higher, but quality over quantity is more important for me. The cream was sugary and sticky with a taste of vanilla essence. It wasn't airy and eggy like it should be, or indeed that fulfilling. The pastry too was way too hard; physically demanding to cut with a sharp knife and as dry as a hot summers day.

Found this place walking by - they have a good variety of cakes and sweets. Coffee and Hot chocolate was very delicious. Service was good too. Had the mud cake and chocolate cake. Mud cake was a little stale however, the choc cake was fresh! Would definately visit again.

There's still some Greek in Coburg. Coburg used to have Greeks as its main ethnicity of wogs, but they're fading away, replaced by Muslims. Not that there's anything wrong with that! I love Sydney Road because of all the great ethnic places. I can get a sense of what it must have been like in the 1960s when I see Yannis (and the other Greek bakery literally across the street from here.) Yanni's is a nice-looking place with lots of shiny polished metal and glass, attractive display of biscuits in the windows. I got a baklava triangle and kataifi, $2.70 apiece, which were larger sizes than what they put out at the Middle Eastern bakeries along Sydney Road. They were well-packed with walnuts, not too soggy. I'd come back here for more, except there are SO many great Mediterranean pastry places in Coburg/Brunswick that I want to try them ALL before I go back to any particular one.
