Review Blue Stool - Coburg

What a beautiful dining experience. The hospitality is second to none. The owner and staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They insured we were well looked after. The food was delicious. We all ordered something different and they all came out looking amazing. We left feeling satisfied and full-bellied. For a great dinner with a plethora of options, look no further than the Blue Stool.

We have been visiting this place often and our experience have been pleasant mostly. Food: The menu has decent variety of items to cater different taste buds. The steaks we tried have been cooked well but we always felt it could have been better with a lil more spices. The sauces served with them are fresh and complement the steaks. Service and Ambience: Since the place is small, it's generally difficult to get hold of a table at busy hour. The rear dining area has been updated but its still not weather protected. The waiters are usually very busy every time we went there. So expect delays. Overall good dining experience which can be better with some operational changes.

Been here to dine in few times. One of the best halal restaurants inner city. Like the chicken parmigiana and mushroom sauce. Grilled chicken is dry and flavourless. Variety of tea to choose from. Payments are cash only, there's an ATM at the venue but rather than paying $2.5 atm fees bring cash with you.

Loved the place! The food was excellent. Our family ordered an assortment of steaks, burgers, pizza, sea food and pastas. Everything we ordered was excellent in taste and presentation. I would highly recommend Blue Stool. It's a family friendly restaurant with good customer service.

Reasonable prices to portions. We ordered the lamb shank and the meat was very soft and tender, with gravy that compliments the dish. The fish burger was adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful, accommodating our needs. Overall a good experience and enjoyable dinner.

Had a birthday event with about 30 people and staff (especially our waitress) went above and beyond to cater to our group. The owner was very professional and friendly, checking in to see if everything was ok. Food came out perfectly cooked (which is no easy feat for a large group) and portion sizes were generous. Would highly recommend!

I went there for lunch this week, the chicken came out bitter and burned and they still served the food to me. Very disappointed and not going back to pay $23 for burned chicken.

The food is delicious and very good value, but the menu is dishonest.

They claim; "Fresh Australian....." on all of their seafood dishes.

First time I thought maybe an accident, ordering mistake, you know.. it happens.

Same green mussels came out the second time.

We don't have green mussels in Australia. Ours are blue.

They're imported frozen from NZ.

It's no mistake. It is dishonest.

If you're going to be lie to your customers and cut corners there, I can't help but wonder where else you're being dishonest.

Fix the dishonesty, or start using the ingredients you claim to be using.

Absolutely shattered by the disrespectful service, that too by the owner's wife. I was looking forward to a nice dinner on Saturday night, after a long taxing week. Yes, we were late for our booking, and were happy to acknowledge that. I was left waiting at the counter initially. We tried to negotiate getting a proper table instead of the barstools, after which I was asked to leave in the most ill mannered tone I have ever heard. The lady said that I was expecting her to beg to leave the table we sat on. If she asked us politely, I would have obliged. I have been here many times, but will never go back again. I don't wish to leave a restaurant humiliated again

Tried this place for the second time, thought we’ll give it another go but unfortunately just didn’t cut it for me. They have a variety of choices, although they don’t have desserts (odd), the flavours are just not there. I ordered the Lebanese fish, was just so plain and nothing to connect the flavours together, some garlic, lemon or coriander even chilli? That’s Lebanese flavours so why wasn’t it in the Lebanese fish! My sister had the steak and had nothing good to say about apart from the chips are nice. My husband had the chicken avo, the cream was the nicest thing on his plate, it’s got a very buttery flavour which is nice. Brother in law had the ribs and he said they were ok. Maybe they need another chef to help up the flavours.

Blue Stool...I’ve made a last minute booking for 4 which I’m surprised they had availability (they’re quite popular). Our table had some god scraps on the floor when I asked for some help a lady came which I believe is a manager because she quickly called one of the waitresses and started yelling at her “this is not acceptable! What is this?!” The poor girl was very quick and seemed like she was use to that kind of treatment. It felt disappointing to see such behaviour, my children felt very saddened by it. The waitress that took our order was extremely nice and helpful. The food came quick considering we ordered well done steak. The ribs were really nice but the steaks were ok. It’s a crowded loud restaurant but it’s ok, a lot of families.
Went here with my girl friends for dinner. Arrived after 9pm and the place was clearing out. Requested a bigger table to seat comfortably with a baby as no one else was around but we were refused. There was no consideration shown infact the whole tone of voice by the owners wife was so non friendly and cold. We were put off even before the food came for their poor standard of customer service. Ordered the grilled chicken steak which was over cooked and very ordinary at best in taste. The other two dishes ordered were steaks which were again probably one of the most mundane steaks I’ve ever had. We asked for more salad and no chips, we were given a whole bunch of chips with minimal salad. Overall experience was underwhelming and will not be going again as it was a sheer waste of money. When we left, the table we had requested to be seated on was still empty with no other customers coming in after us.

food was delish and service was really good. opted for prawn pizza and spaghetti marinara in white sauce. pizza was superb and pasta was aldente and just with the right seasoning. love the cheese shavings, added more flavour to the dish. will definitely be back for more!

Lebanese specials off the board but with cross-over menu into pasta, pizza and grills. We shared the Lebanese fish special with trio of salads and sweet potato chips - everything very fresh, a little different and interesting. Worth trying.

You are spoilt for choice when dinning at Blue Stool. So far we have been here twice and plan on return again and again. I’ve tried the burgers here as well as the pasta. The pastas are huge and delicious! My favourite so far has been the ribs, oh my, they are juice and a very generous serving. Next on my list will be the meat platter and that apple pie I saw on their instagram. Service is fantastic, food is delicious and it’s great that you can see the chefs cooking your food and the venue is very spacious. Worth a visit with on Sydney Rd.

My housemates and I have been to Blue Stool twice now and both times we were very impressed with the food, coffee and service.
The calmari that I had last time was fresh, well cooked and fairly portioned. This time I had the veggie stack burger which was delicious and reasonably priced. The food overall seems to be well thought out and avoids overcomplicating, whilst being very flavoursome and satisfying. A winning combo! The portion sizes are also very generous.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a tasty, satisfying meal for a good price in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Layout of this place is amazing. Great food and portion size. Reasonable prices and great service. Outdoor area is absolutely fantastic. Beef ribs a MUST. 100% recommend this place.
The Street Foodie
My rating is based on the beef ribs which are bloody amazing and the quantity is insane! I couldn’t believe the price, I thought okay they’ll probably just be average, nope! Super flavourful and falling off the bone.

This place is value for money! Mind you I’ve only ever eaten through Menulog. I have yet to go into the actual restaurant.

I would only say that the sausage are always dry and shrivelled out.. I wouldn’t order those again.

If you’re looking for a decent slab of ribs for a good price, definitely try this place out.

A modern vintage look with friendly staff and upbeat atmosphere this place has great portions for a reasonable price. I had the 7-hour slow cooked Beef Ribs which practically melted off the bone. A must for anyone who visits!

This is my second time back to Blue Stool, I’m so glad they opened up!. I love the menu, it is filled with a great variety of food. You definitely won’t leave the restaurant hungry! The portion sizes are huge which was a big plus with my family being Lebanese 😂. The staff are great and an awesome addition to Coburg. I definitely will be back.

We tried this restaurant last night and instantly knew we would be back again. The restaurant fit out is very ‘Brunswick’ yet put together really nicely, cozy yet spacious. The staff are extremely friendly and we received a warm welcome from the owner to top it off! Now most importantly, the food: SO good! We tried the Moroccan fish special and the creamy chicken (the creamy mushroom sauce is to die for - how do they do that?!) and we were fairly impressed. The cherry on top was that the restaurant is Halal Certified! Highly recommend.

We have been to this new venue twice already and both times have been very impressed with the food, coffee and service!
Generous servings and nice, open decor with tasteful furnishings.
We love that it’s a convenient place to grab a coffee in the late afternoon or evening as well!

Awesome new venue, we’re not from this area so my daughter found this place on Instagram and we decided to check it out, didn’t disappoint!

Staff were lovely from the moment we walked in, the venue is impeccable and the food was delicious. The salmon was the standout, cooked really well and loads of mashed potato underneath that was well seasoned.

We shared the nachos too and couldn’t believe how good they were! Plenty of cheese and guac, would definitely recommend this dish (but get it to share because it’s so filling!)

Came to see what this new venue is all about, absolutely loved the menu! My partner and I shared the Roast Chicken Tower to share and it was both BIG and BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu

Blue stool! Don't let the name surprise you, because the food is absolutely outstanding. Definitely a must try place and I reccomend trying, the mixed meat platter.
