Review Twin's Cafe - Coburg

Steve Salathiel
I've been coming here I guess for 10+ years. Eddie is always a warm and welcoming fellow and it's always great to see him, even if a few years have passed since my last visit. Eddie is a master of cooking on a hotplate and I've always enjoyed being able to watch everything being prepared (vegetables being peeled and diced) and cooked. It's very clear Eddie has a very loyal customer base and there's great mutual respect between Eddie and his customers. I go a fair way out of my way to eat here whenever I come to Melbourne. The Vegetarian Farmers breakfast is usually my go-to dish... never fails to disappoint. I suspect I got three eggs and three slices of toast (as per photo) due to my VIP status here. No other place in Melbourne has decor as classic as Twin's Cafe. Well worth a visit. Say hi to Eddie for me.

Eddie's cafe, Twins, is not your average local coffee place. It is old-school in appearance, with quaint seating booths, orange decor and artworks by local artists. Its real charm is all due to the owner, Eddie. A kindly giant of a man, ever respectful and caring, who whips up staggeringly enormous yet inexpensive meals. You could feed a family for under $30 here, and not need dinner afterwards. All the favourites are here - fish and chips, mountainous hambugers, foccacias, frothy milkshakes served the proper way, in a stainless steel cup, and excellent coffee. Eddie makes the best Chai I have ever tasted. People keep coming back, chatting to other diners, making friends, hanging out. It is a community, rather than a cafe. One of the hidden gems of Coburg.

Stumble across this place a few years ago , and Eddie makes the best milkshakes and toasties. We make sure we drive from craigieburn just to come see Eddie. He is such a lovely, genuine man and not many people like him around. We cannot wait to be back again now restrictions have eased.

There's something about Twin's cafe that makes us come back for a nice home-style breakfast. There's no fancy smashed avocados to be found here. Just a big plate of down to earth home cooked meal with a mug of coffee, friendly staff and an atmosphere that let time slips away while we relax and enjoy our hot meal.

Twins Cafe is an old school cafe/ takeaway in an arcade in Coburg.
Although Coburg has gentrified for a while now, it's good to see places that have been around for years still providing other options for customers.
The coffee is good, price competive for the area and the food is hearty, homemade with care and like you remember having as a kid.
The cafe is dated but it adds to the experience and I like the seating booths.
The owner is on a first name basis with his customers, he is friendly and welcoming. Not a modern or trendy cafe, but a nostalgic cafe experience that does no harm.

Generally good but the steak was too hard to eat by the way the owner was very nice providing people with warm services. However I don't know what triggered my skin becoming super itchy and I got to the doctor for an injection to relieve the symptom

Called in with Good Lady Wife and youngest munchkin. Twins Famous Burger x 3. Was ordered, Swear to god they where the size of the MCG and tasty. The GLW had to take half of hers home in a doggy bag. Eddie the man behind the jump could teach some of the more upmarket joints a thing or two in customer service. Eddie has obviously been doing this awhile as he was on first name terms with 90% of his clientele. The menu seemed to be mostly fast food but was great value for money If for no other reason call in for a lesson on how to provide top notch customer service. Cheers
