Review Domenico Traditional Coffee - Coburg

Kerrie Ellison
My favourite place to buy beans, I’ve been coming here for years (even before the name change). These days I use a stovetop expresso (moka) pot and the staff have helped me work out a brilliant blend for this: half Traditional and half Colombian which is delicious. The price for this quality and freshness is excellent. My shopping trip is planned around getting to Domenicos during its currently reduced hours, although if you call and say you are running a few minutes late they will wait for you.

Always helpful in allowing me to explore new coffee beans

For both purchasing equipment for the home connoisseur of fine coffee and enjoying a delectable array of fine beverages Domenico Traditional Coffee is the place. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. When I took my team to Domenico Traditional Coffee for a lunch of Calzones the feedback - they loved it.

I really like this place. Staff are rather friendly and the coffee is great. They have a fantastic range of beans for your home expresso machine. Not much seating though.

Domenico know their coffee, which is why, when it came to buying a coffee machine they were the first place I looked and after looking elsewhere, they were one we went to. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I needed a quick coffee and thought this looked promising. It would have to be the worst coffee I have had all year. It is bitter with no flavour, milk not well textured. Very disappointed.

We have dropped in to Domenico's to buy freshly roasted coffee beans a few times and have been quite happy.
Alas on last visit we decided to grab a couple of coffees and a quick sit down brunch but were bitterly disappointed.
Nothing impressed. The service was poor as were the freshly made coffees and sandwiches.
Hard to believe!

Despite the cutiness of the shop, Doesn't have any of "Italian traditional vibe" I had in two occasion two different espresso. Both not nice. Not drinkable without sugar!

A business man attending a café before a client meeting at the hospital is told they cannot use the bathroom after ordering a coffee. EFTPOS minimum $10. When I enquired where the bathroom was they pointed to Centrelink across the road. What a joke.

5 for the beans, 1 for the service.

It's such a shame to have to write this, as they produce they favourite beans in Melbourne, and seem like really nice people. But that doesn't excuse very poor customer service.

After buying an Aeropress, I went home and opened the box, only to find: no Aeropress. The next day I returned to the shop - taking a good hour out of my work time to do so - to get a replacement. That's fine - mistakes are made! But there was no apology, and to top it off, I then tried to buy a takeaway coffee for my journey home, but was told they did not accept Eftpos under $10, for reasons which were not made clear.

So I left without an apology and without a coffee, which is frankly terrible customer service. (Had I been running the shop and made the same mistake, I would have offered the customer a coffee for free for their troubles!)

So yes - great beans, and they seem like nice people, but they need to up their customer service game. I certainly won't be buying my beans there again. (And why not take Eftpos under $10?)

coffee is genuinely traditional Italian.
awesome flavours and very different from same same cafes.
they also sell coffee machines and equipment.
Sometimes though they don't roast dark enough and the flavour is compromised by lemon-citrus flavours, instead of bold chocolate.

Buyer beware. Careful here if you have allergies or are vegan (or vegetarian, or have religious dietary requirements) They are careless.
Or you'll wind up like me, spitting an unexpected and unwelcome mouthful of warm cow milk all over your keyboard after ordering a takeaway long black.
After cleaning up, rinsing my mouth and summoning the courage to go back, they apologised and handed me my coffee (kept 'warm' on top of the machine) but apologies only go so far, sadly.
Yuck.
Shame - the place smells splendidly of fresh coffee.

Hot chocolate. I have recently moved to Brunswick for work and was told I must try Domenico. I was not disappointed!! I had a caramel hot chocolate and it was amazing! Delicious flavour and was extra hot without even asking.
The staff are fantastic!! I'll be back for sure!
