Had the vindaloo lamb curry , garlic nan and plain rice. All very good. Garlic nan was very good, freshly made, garlic and turmeric on the tandoori made bread. Came with a sweet chutney that I didn’t order or expect so that was nice. Lamb vindaloo was just right, I enjoy my spice, made my skull sweat somewhat so just right. Plain rice was nice fluffy long grain. Overall loved it.
Excellent Food.. i ordered Tandoori Paneer, Indian Fried Rice and Keema Naan.. all fresh and yummy. The server was well spoken and kept checking up. I will be back
Good Indian fare, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Don’t be fooled by the rustic decor. We always get takeaway (as pictured) and it never fails to disappoint!
Yummy food at good price, garlic naan with dal makhni was fabulous, next time thinking to try non veg menu. But veg menu is good and in budget.
The best Indian restaurant in Melbourne!! butter chicken is unbelievable, naan on point, you’ll never have an onion bahji like Saleems. My boyfriend likes the spicy curries and loves them, there’s something there for both of us. Always excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommend.
I’ve only ever ordered from Saleem for delivery. But these are some of the best curries I’ve had in Melbourne and at great prices. Housemates love it too!
This is my favourite Indian Restaurant. I have eaten food from this great restaurant for 8 years. the food is great and I think the staff are great too.
I will continue to eat here for as long as I live in Melbourne.
Saleem is a nice Indian restaurant. They have a lovely free starter - unlike other Indian restaurants they have three dips instead of the normal 2. The green yoghurt one was the best one.
I ordered the Vegetable Vindaloo. I asked for a medium Vindaloo. I was pleased that it wasn’t overly spicy. Not many Indian restaurants can make a less spicy version of vindaloo! Will have to come back any time I feel like a Vindaloo.
The garlic naan also had lots of garlic so I was very happy!
The BEST local Indian! So tasty! So happy that we discovered Saleem. The loveliest staff and delivery people. Order directly through them and you get free delivery too!
Ordered thru delivery via Menulog. The price range they have is reasonable. More value compared to other Indian restaurants. It’s my first order and they delivered within the estimated delivery time. Complimentary papadums, thanks! Food arrived hot and garlic naan was cooked just about right. Paneer Tikka has a lot of sauce than the traditional one. Overall, it was satisfying.
Food is amazing. My husband and I have been coming for years and it's always consistent and great. Really well priced dishes and banquets. Saag Panner is amazing!!!! This place should be packed. Coburg's best kept secret.
Charming little restaurant and they were busy with dine-in, take away and uber eats orders when we visited on a Friday night. Staff were very friendly. A good little local and the price point is very fair. Food was fine, not spectacular but fine. The samosas were pre cooked and too dry but otherwise the lamb korma, rice, naan stuffed with potato, and tandoori mix platter were good although the latter only had a very small amount of lamb and was mostly chicken on the bone and mince sausage pieces. If you are in the area, it's worth a visit.
A definite value for money ......
Classic 80's venue and decor, double shops, so business is good.
Why it shouldn't be when a share banquet of 3 course is only $20/head + tips and BYO.
It was a medley of Poppadoms, dips, Samosa (some were a bit burnt), Curry Beef (okay), Curry Vegetable (highlight), Butter Chicken (highlight) and extra Beef Vindaloo for our section (right on, just not hot enough), fragrant Basmati rice and a choice of Gulab Jamun or Kulfi.
Service is okay, can be slow, but they are under the pump with out group and other patrons on a Friday night.
Just can go wrong.
On the whole, I was pleased with food at Saleem and the service was pleasant.
I love a good Saag Paneer, green, creamy and slightly hot, unfortunately theirs was too sweet and had more tomato in it than I would've liked.
The naans were enjoyable, the rest of the food was nice and it came out quickly.

Ordered take away from here last night. The eggplant dish was amazing. Just enough chili and so so tasty. The garlic naan was also delish and hubby loved the beef curry. Will definitely be ordering from here again!
Ordered take away, a number of curry's, rice and naan bread and all were excellent quality. Curry's were full of flavour and not too oily. Very good Indian and reasonable in price too. Will be giving this place a go again in the future.
So delicious yet inexpensive
Friendly attentive and polite staff
The best Indian restaurant in inner north suburbs so far.
Highly recommend it :)))
Well after reading all the reviews about this place it's about time I tried it out. Here's what I ordered with my wife. 2 Samosas, 3 Nan bread, 1 single serve of rice, half chicken tandoori, chicken tika masala. On arrival we were greeted by the waitress she was very kind and pleasant. When we ordered we were delivered 2 popadoms with 3 varsity of condiments all delish. The Samosas came out as entree and were very hot freshly cooked packed thick with flavour. Then the rice and 2 chicken dishes with the bread. Trust me it was enough food for 2 the true Indian flavour said were there with the mild heat. I must say great dinner in the North. Atmosphere was fine with Indian Mtv playing lol and the party lights. Simple but effective. . My wife and I truly enjoyed the dinner spot on Salem👍

Good Indian Restaurant at Coburg area.
Like their naan bread and curry!
Delicious and very good presentation.
Sunflowers seed chocolate at the counter is another good idea. I love it but not sure they still have it nowadays.

Probably the best Indian food in the area. Good servings and prices. Waiters are lovely and attentative without being on you the whole time.
Very nice Indian cuisine . Extremely cheap! It's not actually licensed though (which is fine because you can just wander down to the liquor land down across the road) service was a little vague. Birriyani was a tad underwhelming but everything else was delicious . Couldn't believe how cheap it was!
First Visit. Dinned in. Enjoyed the food a Saleem. Butter Chicken. Lamb rogan Josh, Nan Bread and Rice was very nice. Good and Quick service. Will be back again .
I had not eaten at Saleem's for many years since moving a couple of suburbs away, and I am very glad to have rediscovered this old family favourite. I have ordered from here many times in the past few months, and I am extremely pleased that the food is nicer than I remembered, and the quality is fantastic.
I finally made an account here after ordering delivery for two last night, and was met with amazing food as always, and it was steaming hot despite living a few suburbs away.
The chicken tikka masala and chicken/lamb vindaloo are some of my favourite staples from Saleem's, and the Samosa's are absolutely delicious and cannot be ignored!
I look forward to eating at Saleem's again very soon, and I recommend trying some of their food if you are pleased with delicious, well-priced spicy dishes.
Thank you for doing what you do, Saleem's. - One very satisfied customer.
We have been going to Saleem for years now. The food is by far the best Indian we have ever had in Melbourne. We live in Greensborough and travel to Coburg, which goes to show how highly we rate Saleem. Service is very good and the price has always been very very reasonable. The Lamb Bhuna is to die for!!
Ordered takeaway from here and was so glad when it arrived. Very good food! The flavours were spot on in every dish. Chicken tikka and paneer were standout even if the food was slightly less warm as it was delivery. Had a good spread of food for only $30. Will definitely order again. Granted I live a few suburbs over, delivery was about 10min later than expected.
21-JUL-15 : Loved the butter chicken which was well cooked and had enough spices to make it tasty. The lamb shahi corma was tender but the masala kulcha did not have enough flavour. Enjoyable meal and would go back again.
Really enjoy the food at Saleems. We've eaaten there a few times over the years, as a couple and in large parties. Consistent quality delicious meals, prepared to your requested level of "heat". We had a home delivery meal from Saleem's recently and it was equal quality to in-house dining. Allow an hour for delivery.
Terry. I've taken my family to Saleem many times over the years - been very happy every time. Food tasted very good, and inexpensive. Just booked to go there again!
Delicious! Ordered everything "hot" and hot they were. A very welcome surprise because restaurants usually hold back quite a bit. Tikka massala and the bhuna curry were great but the plain and cheese naan were doughy and rogan josh not really to our taste but completely forgivable, just wont order those again. Free delivery is great, meals came piping hot and service on the phone was polite. Will order from Saleem again.
Great food. We have ordered from Saleem many times with no complaints.
Amazing!. I ordered delivery last week on delivery hero and the confirmation text said delivery time approx 60 minutes, after an hour and 20 minutes the order came. Food was hot, and tasted amazing, we ordered Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken and Lamb Shahi Corma, T/chicken was cooked perfectly and the other two dishes likewise, just spicy enough and traditional. Next time I'll ensure I order ahead knowing that del time is fairly long, but that didn't matter due to how great the cuisine was. Defiantly recommend to Indian food lovers. - actually ordered some dinner from them just now, just got delivered, took 19 minutes,WOW (Friday night)! And may I mention the delivery driver I have had both times has been so lovely!
Still the same after all these years. I hadn't been here for about 15 years until last weekend. The owners are so nice. The food was ok, not fantastic. Very relaxed with cute decor.
We got a delivery and were pleased. The samosas are huge and were cooked perfectly. They had a bit of spice to them so they accompanying raaita was a perfect match. We had the pakoras too which were nice. We tried two naans - garlic and onion. Both of these were reasonable. For mains we had saag paneer and chicken daal wala. Both of these were great - ordered medium spice and this is what we got. They also threw in a couple of free pakoras. Not sure if this is because it was our first order but it was a nice touch. I think it's good value for the serving size you receive. We will order again from Saleem.
Yum. I went here with two of my friends and we absolutely loved it. I ordered butter chicken with rice and naan bread and it tasted delicious and we didnt wait long to get our food either
Never disappointed. I order Saleem regularly through Menulog. The food always arrives within the suggested timeframe, it tastes great and is fairly cheap as well. It's worth a try!
I like the food here and is very good service. I am a regular here and love it
Ask for spicy and you get it ;)
Tasty! You can't go wrong with the good old palak paneer!!! Yum!
Got takeaway from here! Followed everyone's advice and it was lovely! Great Indian food!

Ol' faithful. We've been rating Saleem 'the best Indian in the northern suburbs' for a while now and get their food delivered so often they must have our address saved into their GPS by now.
Great flavours and spices, you actually get bay leaves and peppercorns etc unlike a lot of more processed Indian takeaways we've had. Have been disappointed a couple of times - the chicken isn't always great, the vegetarian curries are a little samey and the mixed veg curry contained frozen/canned vegetables rather than fresh. Go for the lamb instead! The naan is also really delicious.
I also suggest eating in - the service is very polite and attentive, they play 80's Bollywood films and the decor is awesomely kitsch (why not have Christmas decorations all year round?).
Quality Naans, Tasty currys & prompt service that's all you get from not so costly Indian Restaurant. Enjoyed it every time.
We get Saleem on a regular basis and are very rarely disappointed. It's cheap and gets delivered fast. For the price it is excellent quality. The garlic naan is delicious.
Hit or Miss. The local Indian which can be disappointing..maybe they change the chefs periodically..great lamb vindaloo, really full of flavour without the heat, ordered a potatoe stuffed nan bread, only to be given a plain one. Undercooked potatoes in vegetable curries, potatoes seemed to be microwaved then added to curries. Veg curries seem to have the same curry sauce but different veggies added., so it all tastes the same.
Saleem's has never disappointed - the tandoori chicken, butter chicken, garlic naan - always delicious and well priced. Definitely give it a try, you won't look back.
Very authentic indian!!!. I have been eating at Saleems for over 10 years now!
I recently went back there after a while of not going, and the food was great!
Although they get quite busy with take away orders, i walked in and my food was ready to take away in 20min.
Its probably ideal to call up and order if your in a rush! otherwise otherwise wait around and enjoy the videos of bollywood music on T.V. I have to admit the decore is colourful for my liking, but since i know the owner i can understand it all. it doesnt bother me the food is very tasty and reasonable pricing!!!
Tried them tonight (home delivery) for first time using a coupon from Deliveryhero. Chilli Chicken, Goat Curry & Chicken Tikka Masala. All three were delicious. Highly recommended.
Fantastic. I order from these guys at least twice a month. The food is authentic, consistently good, and amazingly cheap. They are on time 90% of the time to Brunswick West, but the food has never arrived cold. Certainly my pick in the Brunswick/Coburg/Moonee Ponds region.

Amazing curry with just the right amount of spice. Service is a little awkward but who gives a damn when the food is so divine. Samosas might seem hard but cut through the middle and num num num. I love the vegie platter - tandoori paneer and cauliflower - hooray. Im very pleased. Its worth leaving Brunswick for (where the Indian food is much less appetising).
Great place to eat.. Staff are lovely. It's BYO alcohol and best of all the food is fantastic! alll very reasonably priced and just delicious.
Would reccomend this restaurant to anyone!
Always content. I have been going to this place for about 10 years and I've always left content. Service is good and the price is great. It's a cute little place and you get great meals. Never even have to book.
Coburg gem. Quality food, at coburg prices. Serves are on the smaller side, so order extra. At about $8 a serve - you can afford to over-order.
I will be back :)
I love Saleem! Best curry in Coburg I reckon. We normally get delivery, but the decor in the restaurant is a lot of fun and worth experiencing.
