Review Tandoor Xpress - Coburg

Got the potato/cauliflower/pea curry and the mixed vegetable curry. They tasted like reheated cafeteria meals with frozen vegetables that were overcooked. It looked horrible. On top of that there also were not very many vegetables in the curry at all, it was mostly sauce/ soup. The spices were way off, and I would no doubt trust myself to make a far better spice mix and curry, and I've only made about four in my life. It was an absolute waste of money for the taste/ quality/ quantity/ types of ingredients (vegetables), I paid $26 for two vegetable curries and a serve of naan. I don't even think I will be able to stomach finishing it off for lunch tomorrow. The naan was fine, but I guess you'd have to go the extra mile and try really hard to get that wrong. Given my experience and other reviews, it appears the vegetable dishes are no where near worth the money. Better off going into the city for a lovely $7 Indian/ nepalese all-you-can-eat buffet.

We ordered Chicken Biriyani and it was just yellow rice. No flavors at all. I first wanted to trust the review and not to order. But wanted to give it go. Only good thing came with the delivery was the coke zero. Not value for money. I dont even want to give a single start but this wont allow to post without selecting one start.

I'm slowly working through my local food joints. I should have read the reviews of this place before ordering. It is seriously substandard. Bland, poor quality meat, the sauces seem to have some sort of filler or thickner. 25% of my order was missing, the rice (who doesn't order rice?). All in all it was a bad night in for this guy. I gave it 2 stars because no one takes 1 star reviews seriously, and no one died.

Hi guys The food was disgusting.i would not recommend any one even my worst enemy to this place. I was really hungry when i ordered so i was very disappointed when the food was uneatable I ordered 1 butter chicken 1 rice 1 naan and a lamb biryani I added a note to please put extra protein and that id pay extra for extra protein/lamb/chicken. It took about 45 minutes to arrive The delivery guy was wonderful So when the food came 1-There was no extra meat.the butter chicken was basically just the sauce and what ever chicken was in there had the old chicken taste.the lamb biryani had maybe 3-4 pieces of meat in there and it was tough. 2-the rice in the lamb biryani was so soggy and mashed it was disgusting. 3-the rice for the butter chicken was missing 4-the naan bread was a little under cooked. So they pretty much stuffed everything for me The total was $23 and i had to pay $4 extra for the extra meat.total $27 When the delivery driver came he didnt have change for $30 So i told him its fine and they can keep the change. When i called the store and complained the restaurant owner said she couldnt do anything and she was very very rude.she put me on hold and didnt come back So i paid $30 for uneatable discusting food. Guys seriously STAY AWAY.what an insult to lovely indian food

Tasty food for the price, ours came to $25 for two mains plus rice. 20 minute wait but we were told before placing order, so great place.

Not good, taste was very bland, curry was very watery and not much flavour. Also all our food looked and tasted the same.

Awful experience. After waiting 2 hours for delivery (yes, two hours!!) the chicken korma was inedible and went in the bin. It looked like grey mush and the chicken tasted odd so I wasn’t going to risk food poisoning. The channa masala was average too but I had to eat it because after a two hour wait I was ready to eat almost anything. Called the restaurant to complain and they couldn’t care less. Don’t bother wasting your money (or time) when there’s so many other Indian places to choose from in the area.

Potentially the worst Indian food I've ever had. The Saag Paneer was chewy, tasteless and watery. The staff seemed friendly via the phone, however, that doesn't make up for the wretched food.

Best indian takeaway around brunswick. I have never dined in but delicious food time and time again. Been ordering from here for at least 3 years now.

Had a very bad meal delivered tonight by Tandoor Xpress, my first from this place, and wouldn't order from them again if it was free. Got 3 vegie dishes. Two of these were completely indistinguishable from one another. I believe they literally loaded up two containers with the exact same thing, and it wasn't good. The third dish, dal spinach, was also bad. I am still reeling at how atrocious this meal was. Just terrible.

Was so looking forward to dinner tonight. Turned out to be really really ordinary food. Bland. Such a disappointment. Took a while to deliver. Won't go back here.

I can not rate this place highly enough. The food is great but the staff are absolutely wonderful I have been going here for ages and each time I have walked away with a full tummy and having had wondeful encounters with the staff. Delicious butter chicken and gulab jamun! Great price, quick service and plenty of flavour!!

Been ordering food on delivery hero in past . It was decent takeaway Indian food.
Last order was terrible . Don't know at all how to do samosas. Been worse we ever had . Soaked in oil and tasteless potatoes .
Chicken curry seems to be uncooked chicken Sauce had no flavour and wasn't cooked . It was bland and no colour .
Kadai paneer was made up of ricotta paneer

Very disappointed. Not ordering again .
Poor customer service!!!
Ordered online, set time for delivery and restaurant failed to message or call to say they were running late. When I rang the restaurant she blamed the driver. No apology from driver. When I asked her for compensation, she had no idea what to do or say, kept asking others in the background.
I was then told that there would be a discount on my next order. When I said I wasn't interested in ordering from them again, she went silent. When I then said that I would write an unhappy review, she had put phone down on counter and walked away. I had to shout down the phone in order for her to pick it up again! Food was cold, Malai Kofta only had two dumplings in dish, not a very nice flavour and was stodgy. Shahi Paneer was chopped pieces of ricotta and no where near as hot as the other dish and id asked for both to have same heat. Roti and naan were average too.
Will never order again from a place with such rude people and average food!

Ordered home delivery. Had to wait 1hour and 20minutes. Can't blame coz it was a rainy night n heavy traffic.
About food, I had beef vindaloo which was awesome, so much flavour in it, one of the best vindaloo I had. We order garlic nan and biriyani as well of which nan was good but biriyani, not so much.
That said, I'll b coming back for more curry soon!!
Thnx guys

Yummmm. Have ordered enough times to be know that the quality is consistently delicious...am never disappointed with the food, arrives quickly and is always delivered by someone pleasant. Wouldn't even dream of trying another Indian restaurant!
Nida_hina20
Awful taste. I ordered for the first time a simple dish which is Biryani. I was so disappointed by the taste and there was no biryani flavour. It looked as if the chef added some chicken with spinach or curry leaves to rice and presented as biryani. My kids took one spoon and didn't wanted to eat the rest. I wasted my money..I called and provided the feedback but chef advised she never got this kind of bad feedback for her dish before..I had to throw it a away and I wished could have ordered kebab or pizza which would be more worth than this stupid food.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Never bother ordering delivery food here. You may die of starvation before you get it. I can't comment on the quality of the food as I still haven't received it yet! 1hr 32 mins and counting. I understand sometimes stuff happens but I expect an apology or at least a remorseful tone but no, none of that here.
UPDATE: My food has arrived, 1hr 43mins after I ordered and 1hr and 3mins after it was supposed to arrive. Apparently it's my fault it's so late because they wrote down my number wrong even though they managed to call me fine once!
The food is barely passable. Will never make the same mistake.

Delicious food, friendly atmosphere. Delicious fresh food, presented beautifully. Low key, simple decor undersells the quality food. We went on a Monday night and it was not busy. Prompt friendly service.
Nina
Delicious chicken tikka massala and quite cheap too. The meal for two is plentiful, it'd take two starving males to demolish it.

I really like the food here. The pack for 2 is a great value. It could be split between 3 and have enough food for all. My big concern with the place is the service. While the people are friendly it takes a long time for an order. The title of the restaurant has express written in it. The last couple times I was told 30 minutes for a pick up order and it was about an hour. I sat there and waited and there were no other orders. She kept saying 1 more minute. Really frustrating. I can understand if they are super busy but they weren't. I'll give in one more try but if the service continues to be this slow I'll have to find a new Indian place.

Sloooooooooooooow. This is the first time that i have ever felt compelled to create an account on urbanspoon and write a review of a restaurant.
I ordered two curries and some Naan for delivery, because we live super close to the shop (and free delivery within 3 km's). 1 hour later, still no curry. I call the shop, to be told that the curry is on it's way... THANK GOD, RIGHT? 40 minutes later!!!! I call again, because the curry is still yet to arrive. I am told this time "the driver is on his way" (I must add that the owner does not apologise at this point). Another 10 minutes pass and I receive a call from the driver, saying "your curry has arrived".
Moving beyond the fact that I waited for 1 hour and 50 minutes for curry, I would have been happy if I could have obtained the usual satisfaction from curry that I normally receive. But the flavors of this place didn't even come close to satisfying me... The super sweet curry made both of the curries we ordered absolutely impossible to finish, even for a curry fiend like myself.
I hope that no one else has to experience the bitter disappointment that I went through with Tandoor Xpress.

Not Sure. I ordered the Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh and Saffron Rice via delivery. The del time was about 30-40 minutes, and all together cost $30. I've had Indian a couple of times from different places and this place was okay, but not the best. The butter chicken tasted good, but no bang for your buck, 6 chunks of chicken and a wholeee lotta sauce. Rogan Josh is often a touch and go when ever I order it from anywhere, it was a little disappointing as there were only 5 bits of meat and tasted a little too watery, I was ordering for one hoping for left overs but for the expense of $30 and for how much you get and the quality, it kind of wasn't worth it. I might try it again to give this place a second chance, but on a first impression and experience, I would rate this place 2 out of 5 stars. I've had better Indian take away for the same cost else and was happy because you at least get what you are paying for.

Starving!. Have currently been waiting an hour and a half for my food and it's still not here, have been trying to ring but phone is engaged. Worst part is we paid over the phone ?
Tandoori xpress?? Lol more like "tandoor wait long time"

First takeaway from Tandoor Xpress and will be having again. Lovely food, good price, quick delivery. Would recommend.

We got the meal deal for 2 - really good value for money. Food was great, service was really friendly and helpful. We had a wait quite a while for the food to be delivered but it was New Year's Day and they said they were very busy, so I guess that's forgiveable. Will definitely use them again!

Only 3 pieces of meet... Not good value for money.
The Quince Poacher
I really enjoyed the chicken curry, which full of soft pieces of chicken in a chilli gravy tempered by the strong, sweet taste of capsicum.
