Review Mr Deng's Chinese Restaurant Menu - Coffs Harbour

This is the 3rd meal we have enjoyed here in a week, a lunch, weekend and weekday dinner. The food is fast, fresh, well seasoned and good sized portions. Our lunch today was BBQ pork with veges and sate chicken. Large slices of meat in a very tasty sauce. The Steamed Dim Sims are fat, juicy and delicious. The best I’ve had. Highly recommend visiting Mr Dengs Chinese Restaurant for extremely friendly service, great food and fair prices. Say Hi to the owner Colin and enjoy his hospitality and relaxed dining experience . Average Chinese food for the area. Service was great (owner was quite friendly too, visiting all the customers!). The food was OK, with the fried rice and satay chicken being bland. Mongolian lamb and salt/pepper pork ribs were pretty decent. Average price.

Delicious and affordable price. Great portion size and friendly staffs/owner. Unlike other Chinese restaurant, instead of using cheap corn syrup, Mr Deng's restaurant seem to use actual honey in their honey chicken. Love their honey chicken and chow mien stir fried noodle. Highly recommended!

Trip Advisor is correct, Mr Deng's is really good. It's a taste from my childhood, uncomplicated, classic Chinese food. Mr Deng's has all the favourites including honey chicken and sweet and sour pork. Mr Deng himself was lovely. Check out the lunch menu, great value at $13 a plate including rice. We will be back next time we are in Coffs.

Enjoyed everything about Mr Deng’s Chinese Restaurant. From the staff, service of food, to taste. Everything was excellent! Mr Deng even came out to greet and serve us our food. He definitely values all his customers. If you don’t know who Mr Deng is, his face is on the signage of the restaurant. Thank you Mr Deng!

Ordered soup - no cutlery. Honey chicken very dry. Spring rolls were nice. Very quick delivery. Such a shame - I was looking forward to a nice dinner.

Not bad, fairly quick for a Friday night delivery and the food was a decent enough. Flavours were reasonable but too much fill (onion etc) and light on meat although the spring rolls were very good in my opinion.

Mr Deng you are the best when your customers have to drive all the way from Brisbane to have your food. Always a great service.

Well done Mr Dengs! I just got takeaway, the wonton soup was clean and flavorful, the salt and pepper pork was awesome, fried rice on point!

We were travelling and had been in the car for 19 hours, we called ahead and asked if we could pickup a takeaway 15mins before they closed, Mr Deng’s not only took our order but gave us a table and let us eat our dinner after they closed to give us a break from the car. Very friendly service that go out of their way!! Beautiful food!! Highly recommend this place!

After reading the reviews on trip advisor I can certainly assure you that this is a very nice tasting restaurant, service was fantastic and staff are very friendly, we had 10 people no booking, walked in and they made us a table ready to go within 2 mins, highly recommended restaurant.

Had this food twice now, once in the restaurant and once as take away. BEST chinese I've had between rockhampton and sydney. Cant recommend it enough. It's fresh, tasty and great quick service. Do yourself a favour when you're in Coffs and track them down.

Not very good. Food court level food with restaurant level prices. I was hoping for some decent Chinese food here at Coffs but this one just doesn’t cut it. Sorry Mr. Deng.

Honey Chicken? more like Honey batter. 2nd time I tried it. First was bad, so thought I'd give it a 2nd chance, but nope, struck out both times. Never again. If you served that in China you'd be out of business in no time. 不好吃的

The duck was very poor cut into small pieces tasteless<br/>Singapore noodles had curry through them a first for me having lived in Singapore for four years<br/>The others garlic chicken and the fried rice at best average<br/>Not an experience i would repeat<br/><br/>

Okay the duck dish was pretty good. Nice effort with the prawns but definitely not my cup of tea. Vegetable dish with tofu saved the day. Lovely, enthusiastic service with a chilled out feel. Definitely use to Sydney Chinatown flavours but it will do if you are in the area.

Go there for the service but for us Melburnians the flavors weren't there and the food was tasteless. The waiters and the host of the restaurant was great.

Decent Chinese food. Would have been good if Mongolian lamb was lamb meat rather than beef but it was well seasoned. The fried rice was ok though could've cooked it a bit more to soften the rice.

Really delicious fried rice! The chicken and sweet corn soup as well as the short soup is also really tasty. Highly recommend the honey chicken that was great, the sweet and sour pork was ok a little chewy but nice flavour

Charged over $10 delivery😡 serving sizes were ok but food was not hot when arrived. Not sure if it's the same quality for takeaway as when you eat in restaurant, if so certainly won't be going into restaurant to eat

On our way to Melbourne, don't wanna have any disappointment during our trip, find this in the recommended list. They open for Sunday lunch, beef is tender and juicy, good flavour, friendly service. Like!

We decided to try Mr Deng's Chinese Restaurant as it both looked inexpensive and had a good reputation. As I am not a local, I had been using Zomato to find good places to eat. Well I can honestly say that Mr Deng's has great tasting food but they are able to make it without it costing huge amounts of money! <br/><br/>We walked in and greeted by very friendly staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful considering it was a Friday night and they were busy. We decided on what we wanted and ordered the Mixed Entree, the Angus Crispy Beef in Golden Honey, and the Satay Chicken. The Mixed Entree were delicious , and consisted of a great tasting Spring Roll, and Dim Sim that honestly tasted like a mix between a Fried and a steamed Dim Sim, and a Prawn Cutlet that had a moreish crumbing. <br/><br/>The Satay Chicken was great, but definitely got overshadowed by the Beef in Honey. I am quite partial to a Honey Chicken, and trying the "Honey Beef" was a fantastic sensation on the taste buds. The beef is coated in a thin coating and cooked to be crunchy. The honey syrup is not overpowering but blends nicely compared to other Honey dishes. They used wonton wrappers under the meal to soak the honey syrup and they were delicious and still crunchy when coated in the honey. <br/><br/>The meals were delicious and you want to keep eating even after you were full. It was so nice that I went back a couple of weeks later. They had some different staff on, but they were just as friendly and helpful. I am sure that I will be going back again! Actually I am more than confident that it will happen.

Very friendly staff that helps you making the right choices. Good hot and sour soup. The rest of the meals we had was also very good. Nice place on a nice street.

Unhappy dinner. Springrolls were really oily and couldn't tell what the filling was. Salt and pepper squid wasn't crispy. Honey chicken was dry. Overall terrible experience

After wandering around Coffs we decided to eat here because of the positive reviews. We were not dissapointed. Two mains, fried rice and two glasses of wine $53.00. The servings were huge (doggie bag required) - wanting to move to Coffs just for the Chinese food here. A definite eat here agin place!!!!

Delicious!. I regularly buy takeaway from Mr Deng, he is friendly and even says hello when I run into him around town.<br/>The food is simply the best Chinese style dishes I have tasted in Australia. Also I have a friend who is gluten intolerant and it has never been any trouble for Mr Deng's to prepare most of their dishes gluten free specially.<br/>Generous helpings and delicious dishes. I don't think you can go wrong!

Don't look elsewhere. If Chinese food is your choice on the day then you can't go past Mr Deng's. We ate here on a return trip from Sydney to Sunshine Coast and had the best Chinese meal for many a long day. Beautiful balance of flavours and generous servings with good service and hospitality. We would not hesitate to return when passing through again. In fact Coffs Harbour would become our stopover destination just to have dinner here.

Awesome food and awesome service. Only in Coffs for one night for business and decided to give Mr Deng's a try...and WOW... simply superb. I highly recommend it. The service last Monday night was magnificent, his recommendation for duck with plum sauce was a winner. The first thing I do when I come back is visit this restaurant

Amazing combination short soup. I like to try Combination short soup in different Chinese Restaurants in Coffs Harbour. Mr Deng is the stand out, his dish is by far the best I've found. His mother hand makes the wantons, the love shows in the quality. The broth is flavorsome and hearty, no need to add soya sauce here, he puts in a generous amount of meats, 2 x large local king prawns, 6 x bar-B-Q pork with the genuine flavor, yummy breast chicken and tender beef. He places shredded wood fungus in the bottom of the bowl for texture and a goodly amount of sliced bok choy, shallots, carrot and a medley of other crunchy, tasty veges. He also serves a carafe of chilled water and if you ask (I do) a small bowl of Chinese Pun Chun mild chili dipping sauce for no extra cost. This is a meal in it's self, but with an entree or desert you'd have to miss your next meal. The price? An unbelievable $11, that's at least $5 cheaper than any other restaurant in Coffs for the same dish, but without the love or the flavor.<br/><br/><br/>-----24 May, 2014-----<br/><br/>Yum Yum Pun Chun Lamb. I try a different restaurant every Friday for lunch. I try a different lunch dish every Friday so to get an idea of the quality of each restaurant. I found Mr Deng added a new dish to his 'Lunch specials' called Pun Chun Lamb with steamed or fried rice. It is refreshingly tasty, zingy with lots of tender meat a good mix of veges, just enough to feel feed but not bloated. He serves a carafe of chilled water to wash it down, the service is friendly and the food is quickly cooked and fragrantly served within 5-6 minutes of ordering. His other 'lunch specials' are also delicious and unlike other Chinese restaurants in Coffs he adds a few 'real' Chinese veges to the usual carrot, celery and cucumber like baby corn, shredded wood fungus and unusually, finely shredded purple cabbage giving the meal a visual depth. Try his Pun Chun Lamb and be surprised at something different in Coffs Chinese lunch time fare.

My husband and I ordered take a way from here first after moving here and the residents saying it was the best and I can only say it surpassed all our expectations. Having worked in a sub-par Chinese restaurant I was expecting similar or the same but it certainly was not. So we went back to done in and the chicken was tender well cooked not oily the servings were decent the presentation was excellent, as was my husbands Mongolian, tender and just the right amount of spicy. The food is prompt and served with a smile and the dining atmosphere while small is comfortable and inviting. I hope they have plans to expand into a bigger establishment because it could defiantly be the IT place for Chinese Dining in Coffs Harbour. Will be back again soon!

Briiliant Chinese food!. My daughter and I dined at Mr Deng's while on a recent road trip from Sydney to Brisbane. The great reviews enticed us there and our experience well surpassed our high expectations.<br/>Fantastic food with extremely generous servings - the most delicious (and very large) freshest steamed dim sims and San Choy Bow the best we've ever eaten and the Crispy Skin Half Duck with Plum sauce (served on the side in a jug) was absolutely superb - a massive serving (and only $21.95) with exquisitely crisp skin and not a hint of any oiliness in this dish or any of the others.<br/>The staff were very attentive, helpful and genuinely friendly, the wine prices extremely reasonable for both bottle and by-the-glass prices, and the well-organized kitchen on show behind the reception area a testament to the freshness of the food and the skills of the chefs.<br/>The best Chinese food we have ever eaten, brilliant value for money and a fresh, clean inviting setting.<br/>By the number of people dining that night - families, couples and large groups, plus the constant stream of take-away customers, the quality of Mr Deng's was obvious. We need an excuse to return to Coffs Harbour, just to enjoy Mr Deng's Chinese again!

We went while on holidays after looking up urban spoon. It was fabulous, the food was fresh, fast and mighty tasty. We'll be back.

We had a special fried rice, sweet & sour pork and vegetarian spring rolls. Food was very good and it was generous enough that it fed two adults and a toddler. With two drinks we spent just over $35 which is pretty good. The service was 10/10 very attentive and friendly. Kid friendly and casual, lovely place, would definitely recommend.

Arrived with two kids at 6pm and yes it was a busy night being new yew years however the whole inside of restaurant was empty and the first reserved booking weren't arriving til 7.30. They were rude about it with absolutely no attempt to assist. Just a bit disappointing. Food smelt great inside

Very Good. Been to Mr Dengs twice in a week and both times I was impressed with both the food and the friendly service. If you are in Coffs and looking for a feed you could do much worse and pay more. My wife and I will be back.

Fabulous. I've lived in Coffs for ever until now there's been a distinct lack of a decent Chinese restaurant ........until now .......so far the food has been good ...fingers crossed it stays that way
