Ezard at Levantine Hill is an amazing experience to indulge in the beauty of expansive vines and delicious food. It definitely lives up to the hype! We started off with a tasting before adjourning to our table for lunch at the All Dining section. We essentially ordered everything on the menu and couldn’t pick a favourite! It was all cooked to perfection. I will be back again and will try the Signature part of the restaurant (degustation menu).
Our Absolute favourite restaurant for milestone celebrations. Service, food and wine is always great, best in the valley.

A lovely setting for a winery lunch. A little hiccup on arrival - someone with the same name were given our table. We were given a free wine tasting while we waited for a table, which made up for it. The food was tasty - modern Australian with an asian twist. The sliders and the burrata were our favourites. We love that it’s in the entertainment book too!
Ezard at Levantine Hill possesses all of the requisite elements to deliver an enchanting experience not found in the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. The dining area is modern and elegant, exuding an air of calm. The glass windows encasing the dining area allow the sun to trickle in and present magical views. One of Melbourne's most consistently successful restaurants, Ezard is a true stalwart of the Melbourne dining scene. It’s outpost at Levantine Hill in the Yarra Valley is as expected, a class act and mirrors the quality Ezard is known for but with a completely tranquil backdrop.
I heard great reviews about Ezard in the city from my friends so I was really looking forward to lunch at Ezard at Yarra Valley. I made reservation for Friday lunch and requested for the barrel seat but was told it was reserved for bigger group. The person who took my booking over the phone also asked for any dietary requirement and I informed her that a friend of mine is pregnant and she won't be able to take raw seafood or uncooked dairy products. My reservation was only for 3 people in the all day dining area. When we arrived for lunch at 12 PM, we are the first customer to walk in and the place was really quiet but it gets busier with a few more groups walking in after an hour. The venue is beautiful and and the weather was perfect. 2 of us wanted to try the grazing menu at $98 per person and another friend preferred to go for the fish special of the day. However we were told they can only cater the grazing menu for the whole table which is strange although there was a minimum 2 of us opting for the grazing menu.My friend is happy to go with the grazing menu if they can substitute some of the ingredients for her as she is pregnant. Personally I think the grazing menu is quite good, better value than the degustation menu. The portion is quite generous and I was almost full before the start of the first main dish. Almost mid way through lunch, we saw a couple arriving in a red helicopter, now that's a grand entrance!
I love winery restaurants as they've never disappointed. Having tried Ezard in the city I was very excited to try Ezard @ Levantine Hill. We came on a weekday and it was surprisingly quiet with only a few other tables. We ordered oysters and foie gras for entree which were both amazing. The foie gras was rich in flavour and creamy. For mains we ordered the whole barramundi and the duck. The barramundi was cooked perfectly and had a beautiful texture. The duck was a little dry but the sauce made up for it. Great flavours and depth. For dessert we couldnt pass up a creme brulee which had a toasty popcorn flavour which I personally didn't like but the boyfriend loved it. Would love to come in on a busier day to enjoy a more upbeat ambience.
We spent a lovely weekend in the Yarra Valley, this dinner was the pinnacle of our trip.... almost.
Beautiful architectural designed building, same designer as Mona in Hobart.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
We chose the 5 course degustation, which was just right after a late lunch, I had the matching wines which were very well balanced, especially enjoyed the Pinot and Syrah.
One of the Pork dishes was a very fatty cut, and a glass of wine came out with lipstick on it, which took the polish and the fifth star away, but all in all an enjoyable evening.
As you know before you arrive, very costly, individual glasses of wine start at $25.
Came here for a special occasion on March 8 2019. It was a sceanic drive to Yarra Valley stopping at Yering, Chocolatier, TaraWarra, Chandon and Meletos.
Stopped at Levantine Hill's Ezard for lunch. This is a in hat restaurant, sister to the one in the city.
Ordered the truffled Mac & Cheese croquettes, smoke trout, grilled octopus, Yarra Valley duck, green salad with roasted hazelnuts and for dessert, orange cake with ice cream.
Highlights are the smoke trout, octopus and duck.
Awesome meal. Service can be spotty depending on the waiters.
Overall good experience. Check out the photos.
Fine dining winery restaurant in the Yarra Valley. I enjoyed the spacious open design with high ceilings and large windows overlooking the vineyards. The menu in the all day dining section is relatively small but tasty. We shared the Mac and cheese croquettes for entree. They were delicious. Then for main I went for the lamb rump with fennel, sumac and chevre. We also shared the pea salad as a side. The lamb dish was a great combo of flavours and a perfect portion size. My only comment is that a felt the food was quite overpriced for what it was. The $25 wine tasting fee per person is also a bit steep if you’re also dining in the restaurant.
My family stopped in for lunch without a booking and they seated us straight away. The service was excellent, the food was divine, and the location and grounds were beautiful. We all loved our meals. We then took a walk around after lunch among the statues and garden ornaments
This place has met expectations as our expectations were high to begin with. The decor was stunning and the presentation of the food was amazing. Would highly recommend this restaurant with a number of dishes that left us wanting more including both of the desserts. Have a look at some of the dishes from the eight course degistation menu...
A lovely well thought out restaurant in the Yarra Valley. I had lunch here and wasn’t disappointed. Lovely variety on the menu and the food was excellent.
Ambience: 4/5
Food: 3/5
Staff: 4/5
Will I return: No
Decide to come here to celebrate Mother’s Day early. We went to the all day dining restaurant and came with high expectations. The winery was beautiful and we liked the beer barrel seats especially. The staff were courteous and friendly.
The food itself was probably the biggest disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, the food didn’t taste terrible but given the price and status of the restaurant, I had expected a little bit more.
All of the dishes we ordered just tasted mediocre and nothing really stood out. The wagyu beef sliders were served with potato chips! Not only this, but the chips were really salty.
The beef brisket was nice, but nothing amazing. You can easily order this at any Chinese restaurant with probably even more fragrance. To be fair, my mother makes a better brisket than them with her pressure cooker. (But I may be biased)
My mother did however really enjoy their all blends red which is one of their speciality reds. So if you like your reds, give this a try.
Overall it’s a nice d restaurant to possibly try once, but I probably wouldn’t go back again. There are plenty of other restaurants in the Yarra Valley to dine at.
I was taken to Levantine Hill to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. Before even getting to the food, the exterior and interior atmosphere and ambience were incredible. As it is a winery, you would expect the green, lush lawns however the inside was very surprising. It was luxe but still very modern, with the waiting stuff all fitting this bill. The service was of a high standard, and my boyfriend and I felt very comfortable despite it’s higher-end demeanour. Food and wine (obviously) was absolutely excellent as well! Looking forward to the next drip up already.
Have been meaning to try out Ezard @ Levantine Hill ever since we had brunch next door at Rochford Winery last year. We managed to spare some time and did a lil road-trip after puppy school and squeezed in a family day-out. First impression of the venue – A breathtaking space to attract all foodies! I love anything with spans of glasses and make-shift barrel-shaped tasting booths! There are two dining spaces and we opt for the outdoor ‘All Day Dining’ space as we did had a puppy with us. Very pet friendly venue – they even had a dog bowl of water ready for Kiba!!
Truffled mac & cheese croquettes - Ohh man these were delicious!!! The cheese was oozing out after the first bite, there were good amount of truffles that went really well with the mayonnaise.
Wagyu beef sliders - Definitely good bite size sliders. Beef was tender and moist. The caramelized onion puree and sweet house pickles was tasty and the Gruyere cheese completed the burger dish for me.
Charcuterie board - a good mixture of meats like prosciutto, salami and chorizo. The house pickles and chutney was very sour though. Loved the smooth pate. Had to get an extra serving of the toasted sourdough - never understand why it never comes with enough bread haha?
Sugar cured salmon - After all the cheese and meaty dishes, lucky we chose this light and fresh cheese with a light goats cheese and pickled fennel. It was soooo pretty too!!!
I managed to squeeze in desserts! Yay! Chose the Carrot cake option which was beautifully presented like a pot plant. Unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looked. It was a deconstructed version of a traditional carrot cake with cake crumble which was too dry for my liking, cream cheese mousse which was too sweet and, candied walnut that overwhelmed the entire dish........
Ezard on Flinders Lane was one of my first fine dining experiences a couple of years ago. I couldn’t wait to try out Ezard at Levantine Hill! We opted on the 8 course degustation menu. This is probably one of the best menus I’ve seen so far. It had all my favourites, kingfish, pork belly, wagyu and duck, c’mon what more can I ask for. The presentation on every dish was amazing. Most dishes were executed perfectly. The only dish that fell flat for me was the salad, wasn’t the biggest fan - could have had some sort of dressing but then again, you still don’t win friends with salad. I loved both the desserts and I left feeling extremely full and satisfied.
Thought we’d try this place as we love Ezard in the city. The food was nice and presentation was great but a little on the pricey side given there are so many great places to eat in the surrounding area. We were also in the mood for a really good steak but there was none on the menu which was a little disappointing. Nonetheless nice grounds and was a nice lunch.
The food was amazing. The couscous that was served with the chicken dish was to die for!
It was such a relaxed atmosphere and had a lovely time dining there! Definitely worth a visit.
Got up on a Saturday and the weather was stunning for a drive. Tried to get a booking for a few places in yarra valley, but they were all full.
Ezard was available, so off we went.
When we got there, we decided to just sit outside. Big umbrellas for the shade and a superb view.
Alternatively , we could have booked for the fine dining area (which serves a degustation menu) or sit inside a relaxed casual dining area. Would try these next time.
We nibbled on the canned Cuca Tuna belly and charcuterie board. But when it came to picking the main, there was nothing that tempted me. I ended up getting the jamon iberico (which was under their "delicacies" section) as my main. Up to this point of my meal, I really could have eaten those dishes at a number of different restaurants - I just wouldn't be able to soak in the gorgeous view. My favourite was the soft chocolate dessert. That was really yummy.
Hubby enjoyed his lamb neck.
What I really liked about this place is that, on a sunny day, I can just book, turn up in shorts and a t-shirt, eat quality food, in a relaxed atmosphere, with gorgeous views and just chill.
Came here for their wine and antipasto board with friends, and the antipasto was good, didnt like their terrine as they used lots of clove inside, reminded me of a ciggy smell, but their pate and cold cut were divine! The whites was just okay, a bit too dry for my liking.
Service was a bit pretentious and very slow, but they were friendly.
The place itself was more like a fine dining resto than wine, it was modern and lux with pretty view, i could imagine how beautiful it is to go there for dinner.
Will def go back to try their mains.
Came here for the 2nd time to bring guests, and they were impressed with the food and ambience. They said so far, its the best one they’ve been to in australia.
(Some of the food that we ordered are the same with last time, so i wont post it again)
Had the degustation menu 8 course
Wagyu was chewy. That’s a first for me as I’m a huge fan of Ezard in the cbd
Staff were very friendly and well trained
Music was soft lovey location. I wish the grounds were lit a bit more as it’s a lovey view. White chocolate sphere was tasteless
First 3 courses were excellent great textures. Balance and wine pairings perfect
The last dar chocolate And shiraz is an oldie. But safe
Had the wine tasting there and a quick lunch. Love the design of the interiors. Was thinking to take a pic through the round window but got other customers sitting there. Beautiful wines and good services here!
What a stunning venue! A girlfriend and I have had this on our eats list for a while...yes I've got a huge list. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff. Food and wine pairings were amazing. We loved the 8 course degustation. My favourite dish was the slow cooked farm egg, onion, "cheese on toast" emulsion, bacon crumble. Detail and plating was great! A lovely venue and experience with friendly staff.
Absolutely amazing - the venue is so pretty, food is delicious- wine is thee best I've ever had and the atmosphere on a Saturday arvo with live music sitting outside in the sun! Breathtaking! Me and my partner sat here and drank / ate all day. It was expensive but we were loving it so much we didn't even care!
Enjoyed the experience at Ezard, will definitely go again. We chose a quiet Friday afternoon lunch as we had to bring the baby along for a birthday celebration. Staff and service was excellent! We started off with wine tasting, very pleasant and was then shown to our tables for lunch.
For entree we ordered the wagyu beef sliders, the mac and cheese croquettes and canned tuna.
The beef sliders were juicy and I really enjoyed the croquettes but the canned tuna was just canned tuna. We could have ordered something else. Lovely nice mains, big tick to the baked whole barramundi, loved the accompanying seaweed butter, spanner crab linguine lacked the crab which we expected more, otherwise tasted like ordinary tomato linguine. Loved the huge portion of the kitchen garden salad with the hazelnut crunch.
Dessert was probably the highlight of the day, we had the soft chocolate, loved it. And would have it again! Perfect combination of flavours, and acidity, pepitas and malt biscuits added the crunch. I wonder what those leaves were? They had a slight scent of mint and green to the whole dessert!
Tried the 5 course degustation on a Saturday. Beautiful venue especially on a good day! Wines were amazing and food was one of the best in the Melbourne fine dining scene
Went for a wine tasting at LH. It's a big venue, not very cosy. The lady helping us was very friendly. Winetasting is $10 for 3 wines, $15 for 5. You don't get to taste the premium wines, have to pay $25 if you do want to (but cheapest of these is $125 a bottle). The $10 and $15 are redeemable on any wine purchase (so if you know you'll but something you might as well taste 5 wines). Wines were ok, on the expensive side with the cheapest being $35. We bought two wines that we really liked. One was the rose which we wouldn't have tasted if it wasn't for the lady saying it was her favourite. One tasting she served in a glass which came straight from the dishwasher and it was warm. Restaurant looked full, but atmosphere wasn't so tempting for us sp we went somewhere else for food.
I've been here 4 times, and I always order the Signature tasting menu. It is absolutely amazing. Every dish is served with so much passion and with so much attention to details; and of course, exceptionally tasty. Bring your special loved ones, or your most important business partners to here. It is a great experience that keeps bringing me back again and again.
Beautiful place! Luckily went there on a really nice day, sunny vinery surrounded the whole place. Had a wine tasting which was amazing. Especially the Samantha is absolutely a beautiful red. 🍷 Up coming with a 5 course tasting menu and matching wines. Nice presentation with lot of flavors. Except the main dish which was a pork let down a little cause of the texture of the meat. Literally enjoyed my day there and looking forward to come bk again.
Stunning food as part of the degustation menu. The restaurant catered for some special needs and the wines are just fabulous. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic - you can just tell they love where they work. Some special things happened to us here, including reserved seating in the 'barrels' and this is now our favourite 'occasion' restaurant in the Valley.
Gorgeous architecture on a lovely property in the Yarra Valley. Very friendly staff, occasionally too friendly, up-selling wines whilst dining (a bit too much push for my liking) and occasionally over-chatty floor staff. Staff were very accommodating, finding us a seat when we hadn't booked. Food was delicious- entree of cured salmon and truffle mac and cheese was 👌. My swimmer crab fettuccini lacked crab but was tasty and pasta was cooked perfectly. Husband's lamb neck was delicious and the Paris mash was exquisite. Show me the Paris mash holder and see you in a week! The chocolate dessert is not for the faint hearted. You need to looove chocolate to even get through even half the dish. I adored the ricotta and fig dish for a more subtle dessert. Not one for anyone who is stuffed full as it is quite heavy. Overall, really enjoyed this place and would go back to dine in the front part for a special occasion.
Such an amazing winery for a nice sunny day out. We sat outside under an umbrella with some freshly shucked oysters and a few other small share plates which were all up to the Ezard standard. The live band was really lovely but unfortunately the staff weren't as attentive to the tables sitting a little further away. It was rather hard to get their attention. Overall, a great place to sit and chill with a great glass of wine over lunch. Well be going back to try their degustation dinner asap.
Ezard at Levantine hill was wonderful. Huge site and it is a restaurant and cellar door that was rated Best Cellar Door in the 2016 Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. We did a tasting, bought a few wines and had lunch too. Chef of the famed Ezard, I knew the food here would be good. As it was lunch, my friends and I shared a few dishes. It was completely booked, but they offered for us to have the full menu outside if we wished. The mac and cheese croquettes were a standout, as well as the mini sliders, linguini and cured salmon. It was an amazing lunch and I would certainly be keen to visit for a degustation. The inside of the restaurant is fancy and some of the booths look like they are seated in a wine barrel. Staff were extremely efficient and provided excellent service.
Took the drive out here for a nice lunch to start the new year. The setting is nice with great views of the local winery region and mountains. Staff and service was excellent. Food was a bit hit and miss though. The popular croquettes were really good but the founder was a bit average. Definitely want to come back again though at least to sit inside the "barrel" seats
Very beautiful restaurant, nice view!we really enjoy the lunch time and it's a good choice to have a relaxing weekend here. We choose the 5 course set ($95 per person) the entrees is nice but a little bit greasy, 4 of 5 of the entrees are fired food. And two main courses very bland , we didn't eat much. All three desserts are very impressed and yummy,The view is 5/5, food is 3/5

We had a lovely lunch degustation here and wine was very much enjoyable. The main waiter who served us was fabulous, very attentive and informative about each and every dish and with the wines we asked about. Food was presented beautifully and delicious. The five course was plentiful despite the dishes looking small. Only negative feedback about the food was the pork belly which we found a little uninteresting and slightly dry in the meat despite it being lean (as I would prefer) and skin being nice and crispy. We were in the Signature restaurant but with the way it was partitioned, we may as well have been part of the all day dining area. I think the Signature restaurant should be fully separated from the other parts to complete a full fine dining experience and not have waiters sharing between the two dining sections. We came on a weekday so being a busy weekend I can see it being possibly not as enjoyable/valuable to be in the fine dining area. The partition should be fully non-see through so that dining at the Signature restaurant is not distracted by the big groups entering into the other dining area (I was seated facing that direction).
DO: Nothing but the lunch or dinner degaustation menus if you have time or if this is your first experience.
DON'T: Forget the matching wines.
TIP: If you want to be really awesome, catch a helicopter there from Crowm Casino and return.
Came here to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday and were warmly greeted by name at the door, which was a special and very nice touch.
Had an absolutely fantastic wine tasting experience hosted by Kelly. She really took the time to get to know our palates and was able to recommend wines we'd all enjoy.
The grounds are stunning, food is spectacular and I can't wait for a second visit!
We love Ezard in Melb and couldn't wait to give this a try. The venue is stunning and service could not be faulted. We ordered the 5 course plus the wagu (extra) to make it 6 courses. The dishes looked theatrical and very intriguing. The flavour on the other hand was a little bland which was a let down. The bread was also a disappointment. First time I didn't ask for extra bread! My pork belly was meant to be crispy, but instead was chewy and I actually could not cut it with my knife. So I left it on the plate- inedible. Total $445 with drinks for 2ppl. I wouldn't be back for the signature restaurant but the casual section seemed like it had a good menu so worth coming back for that. Wine tasting was very informative and Pinot noir - delicious!
Exceptional service, food and views. Love any excuse to come out here to dine. The waitress recommended some excellent wine matches and couldn't help myself had to buy a bottle to bring home. Both occasions I've been here both were consistently up to par and exceptional. Hats off to you guys!
WOW. My partner and I dined here for our milestone 7 year anniversary, we had been meaning to come here for some time now and i'm so glad we did. Booking our reservation at Ezard was faultless, customer service on the phone was very helpful and attentive, we even moved our booking from a Saturday to a Sunday with ease. Once we arrived, I was delighted to see a beautiful garden full of fresh organic vegetables and herbs, I hadn't even stepped foot in the restaurant and I was already impressed. We were promptly seated in the signature restaurant surrounded by fascinating architecture and bright floor to ceiling windows. Shortly after being greeted by our friendly and attentive waiter we decided upon the 5 course degustation menu with matching wines. Each and every single dish was curated with such thought and intention, the complementary flavours that came out in every ingredient and the technical skill that turned food into art was just riveting. The wines had a beautiful smooth finish and were well matched with the flavours from each dish. For a degustation we were left surprisingly full and incredibly satisfied. In summary Ezard @ Levantine Hill absolutely blew us away. Phenomenal food, Incredible wine, Fantastic service, Beautiful presentation. It was such a memorable and enjoyable day. My only disappointment is that we didn't purchase a bottle of wine!
I saw an article in the Melbourne weekly about ezard @ Levantine hill a few weeks ago and its architectural pic appeared to me, "what a beautiful restaurant" I thought to myself. To mimic the wine barrel as part of their architect is so clever! So I booked for the grand final public holiday to dine in ezard.
We arrived early and the staff were attentive and welcoming.
Food was very delicious and each dish with different flavours and textures - well thought through. The degustation was totally worth it. I would be back again!
My partner organised a surprise birthday at Ezard @ Levantine Hill.
Beautiful winery with amazing architecture!
Not an extended menu when it comes to choices of small and large dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed the food with great service overall.

This review is an overall rating across the two visits to Ezard Levantine Hill. First visit was when my sisters' had booked everything in advance for my milestone birthday, prepaid for the 8 course degustation ($180 pp) and a glass of wine which the restaurant was very accommodating to the arrangement. Second visit was for one of my sister's birthday where we had the 5 course degustation ($135 pp) + the additional wagyu beef course ($40 pp noting that we were full after 5 courses, we just wanted to try the wagyu beef). Both visits although the menu was different, the food was on par (consistency is always good!) and with service to suit. I personally did prefer the second visit's menu just a little more though.
The grounds are absolutely stunning and the barrel windows inside the restaurant are architecturally amazing (noting that these barrel window seats are only for the casual dining area and not the signature restaurant area which is a shame). The restaurant has a casual dining area at the front and the signature dining area at the back where they serve the degustation menus. These two areas are separated by a see through (i.e. no backing) shelving unit where the wine glasses are kept; this may take away from the traditional 'fine dining' experience for some - depending where you're seated you may be facing the casual dining area and watching groups coming and going (note that this would have dropped 0.5 off the overall rating if I had categorised the restaurant as strictly a fine dining restaurant).
The menu for the first visit:
Foie gras, baked potato consommé, pain d'epice
Smoked eel with apple textures, marbled seaweed and sea herbs
Garden salad of whipped parmesan, carrot, jamón ibérico, rye, olive soil and seasonal herbs
Slow cooked organic farm egg, herb spätzli, dijon and leek ash
John Dory with black cauliflower, radish and nasturtium oil
Pork belly with quince pudding, red wine garlic jam and pepper crumb
Wagyu beef with nettle, onion cream, potato terrine, native pepperberry and jus
Palate cleanser: pineapple sage with raspberry crumb
Dark chocolate creme with hazelnut emulsion, brioche ice cream, cocoa and passion fruit
The menu for the second visit:
Smoked Ora King Salmon, cucumber, Yarra Valley caviar, sea grapes, fermented garlic
Summer salad of pea panna cotta, Koo Wee Rup asparagus, jamón ibérico, olive soil
Slow cooked organic farm egg, sweetcorn, herb spätzli, 'cheese on toast' emulsion, bacon crumble
Western Plains pork belly, endive, cauliflower
Sher wagyu beef, onion textures, nasturtium, crisp potato, Madeira (additional wagyu course)
Chocolate honeycomb, tonka bean, pine nut cream, chocolate twigs, pistachio moss
The food was amazing and I loved every moment of the dining experience. There are only a handful of 'fine dining' restaurants (or rather degustations) I have in my favourites list and Ezard at Levantine Hill has made that list. And being in Yarra Valley, why not make a day out of it or maybe a weekend like we did.

Have always been a big fan of mr Ezards work in flinders lane and at ginger boy today was no disappointment. The service was impeccable particularly impressed with the wine knowledge for our wine match option, some gorgeous wines too chardy was a stand out. The 8 courses were all beautifully presented and other than the egg (which although delicious felt it didn't fit in the run of plates) no let downs what so ever. I'm not a big sweet dessert fan but it was gorgeous. Thx for looking after us so well even catering for our 11 year old without missing a beat, and he can be a handful :)
Exceptional food and service.... The overall experience was incredibly expensive. Other than that if you got the cash it's a must... Amazing wine and degustation food along with matching wine was AMAZING.... Loved it but $480 for a couple was a bit too exorbitant...
Stunning grounds, equally complimented when you're greeted by the friendly and attentive service. Food is fantastic, shared plates were a delight, thoughtful and delicious. We are in the main dining hall, not the degustation.
Such a beautiful place, we had the five course degustation and it was amazing. My boyfriend proposed to me here and the staff were absolutely fantastic in accommodating him, they really made it a special and memorable day for us. Absolutely perfect!
I went there to celebrate my Partner's birthday. Their staffs were so warm and welcoming.
Wow'ed by the beautifully decorated restaurant's interior design and the magnificent view over the winery by the second we walked in the door.
The food was good but the view, the atmosphere, and the wines definitely do the justice for the price we paid for.
The theatrical element of the first course was entertaining, however, the subsequent courses could not maintain the initial excitement level.
I've dined in Ezard CBD 7 years ago and I find Ezard Levantine Hill's one was much more desirable experience overall.
Note:
If you decide to dine here, definitely spare your cash to do the matching wine option. The waitresses extensive knowledge of the wines were impressive and so were the wines.
Great environment, fantastic food (taste, texture and presentation) and delightful / professional service - we had the 8 course degustation and all dishes left an impression. Particularly the Dori and risotto - I can still taste them! The vegetarian mains were very exciting - one wouldn't be missing out at the slightest by opting for them. The pairing wines were good matches and one could never say they were stingy with their pouring.
Original 2016 review- Wow. Incredible food, dish after dish. Each dish a work of art, with the flavours to match. Very expensive at $180 each, particularly for a country restaurant, but worth it. Beautiful setting overlooking vineyards. Expensive wine list. The place to go for special occasions.
The best restaurant in Victoria. Age Good Food Guide readers get it spot in, awarding this People's Choice Award for 2017 Guide.
Update 30/12/17- Still brilliant. Every dish a winner in presentation and flavour. Didn’t want any dish to end. Faultless. Knowledgeable staff are friendly, not pretentious. A gorgeous setting, relaxing with beautiful views. Food highlights- ham salad, pork belly, John Dory, wagyu beef, raspberry dessert. Matching wines were perfect. Still the best restaurant in Victoria.
Excellent food here. Has a wide variety of Australian food. Had the beef tenderloin, absolutely tender, juicy and cooked perfect and the side salad excellent. The polenta chips offered here are splendid. Absolutely great restaurant in the country with excellent service, definitely come back here
The setting of this restaurant within the winery is beautiful in the architectrally designed building. The service is attentive and friendly without being bothersome. We had the 8 course degustation menu on valentine's day and despite it being busy, the restaurant was quiet and the food was brought out at well spaced intervals. The food itself was magnificent, it was a truly amazing experience and one that we thoroughly enjoyed. The wine too was delicious. All in all, the whole experience was faultless.
Was excited to come and check out this new addition to the ezard family. Had the 5 course set menu with matching wine. The food was well made and really well presented. The setting was really nice but I did walk away expecting to be wowed a little more.
Absolutely beautiful scenery. Terrific, attentive staff and a sensational 8 course degustation. All wine by the glass are terrific.
Would degust again.
Went back here and I have to say it is a great venue. Great staff and amazing venue. The dessert especially was amazing and the service is perfect.
Enjoyed a beautiful lunch here today, arrived earlier than our friends and opted for the wine tasting. Lovely wines, lovely staff member conducting the tasting added to the experience. The rose was delicious and we ordered several bottles to bring home and took our seat in the pretty dining room.
As their were four or us we got to try six of the smaller dishes, two large and couple of desserts. The pate was silky and beautiful, with extra toast offered twice to finish it off, the lamb pide was yum as was the salmon. The pork terrine was delicious and came with yummy acompniments of chutney and toasted bread. The little brioche burgers were really moist and delicious.
Mains we shared the beef check and the snapper. The highlight for us was the whole snapper, just beautifully cooked - we all loved it. Desserts only a small selection and the pistachio creme brûlée was a hit. We can't wait to return again.
Beautiful place with great service .... We had the 8 course meal...the food was yummie, pretty! Love that scallop the most! We will definitely be back!
We had a beautiful meal in the all day dining section of the restaurant. The menu is made up of share plates, perfect for a lazy weekend lunch. Nothing to fault in the food or service. The only down side is that views are blocked by a series of tables seating 8 set within giant timber cylinders - if you're at a table in front of one of these, you'll be able to hear everything reverberating from the table behind. Avoid them if possible!
Lovely lunch. Food, service. And atmosphere were all excellent. Great new place for all day dining. No better place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
After having heard that Ezard had his name down at a new restaurant in the Yarra Valley, I knew to expect nothing short of superb. Having dined at all his restaurants around Australia, I was keen to try out Levantine Hill. After having eaten here on two occasions now (once in signature restaurant and once in all day dining), it's already become a Favourite! Staff are extremely attentive and they know their stuff - I don't feel bad asking them so many questions!! My first visit was initially brought about by the excitement of Ezard's menu - but I must say the food is incredible and goes hand in hand with some exquisite (but expensive) wines. P.s. I have been trying Pastrami Sandwiches all around Melbourne and theirs is quite delicious - highly recommend!!!
Had a fantastic lunch at the all day dining part of the restaurant. Staff were all super welcoming and helpful and the food was amazing. Loved the wagyu burgers, salmon and chickpea chips, and the sparkling wine was lovely. Will definitely be back!
Wow. Heard all of my friends chatting about this place and I'm honestly blown away. Tried their new spring menu and just incredible. Highly recommend. Wines are magnificent - a little pricey for a new label but nonetheless very sophisticated wines. Cheers Levantine hill
My review relates to lunch in the Signature restaurant with degustation menu. (Not in the more casual all day dining also at the cellar door) Great ambience, beautiful sunny day with views to outside. Good unpretentious service, very much enjoyed the bubbles and food. Chose the 5 course degustation (also offer 8 courses) - highlights were the spring vegetables with Parmesan custard, risotto with Fish, chocolate cremeaux with pears for dessert. Lovely lunch in the yarra.
Superb food. The heirloom vegetable salad with mint meringue was a knockout. Everything exquisitely presented. Definitely worth a trip from Melbourne.
Ambience - Incredible and the best in the Yarra Valley. Funky, yet sophisticated.
Service - Staff extremely attentive and friendly
Food - Food was excellent, honest and tasty yet still managed to be refined. Will be going back for the mini wagyu burgers at my next available chance.
Wine - Pleasantly surprised at how sophisticated and complex their wines were. Particularly impressed with Katherine's paddock Chardonnay.
Thanks to the people over at Levantine Hill. I enjoyed a beautiful lunch with my partner.
Wow! Visited the newest restaurant in the Yarra Valley. Have been hearing so much about it. Pretty swish property - unbelievable building. Very attentive staff - never experienced anything like it outside of Hatted city restaurants. What an amazing new standard for the Yarra Valley. The food!!! Where do I begin! OMG just amazing. Fast and super efficient, these guys and girls have their mojo. Not cheap but SO worth it and really good value I have to say. P.s. Finished off the meal with an amazing coffee and couldn't believe they use illy coffee there. Mr Ezard - what a standard!! Photo below is of my personal favourite - pastrami sandwich 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
amazing tasty food with an amazing view and great service and wine. we have already been twice and it was amazing on both occasions. highly recommended!!
