Great fit-out, staff are awesome and vibe is always buzzing. Menu is a refreshing twist on your stock standard Melbourne items. They serve Niccolo coffee, and they do it well. I'm all about giving places a fair go and doing my research. All I can say is this place is tried and tested and will become your new go-to in this neck of Collingwood. There's definitely about 5 fake reviews all from August 2, 2018 from some idiot. Believe there was also a new owner around then and the new one is friendly and service is great.
First time visit and everything was AMAZING!! The coffee, the friendly service and the poke bowl was the best one i have ever had!! Very filling portions.
Also the lighting ambience is so nice! Cant wait to go back!!
Very friendly interaction immediately with waiting staff and then pleasantly surprised by very flavoursome latte and delicious Moroccan chicken with plenty of flavour and texture. Fantastic hommus too. Well priced and generous serve. Will be back!
Delicious food, broad menu, wonderful dining space and friendly staff. Prices were average for cafes in the area. My only qualm would be that the portion sizes for the added sides (ie. bacon) were very slim. I would gladly return though.
Dropped in here as the car is in the shop close by. Unassuming cafe located in an industrialesque warehouse, very inner Melbourne.
Had the magic and it definitely hit the spot. Great aroma, right temperature, fantastic aftertaste.
I also had the smashed avo. The eggs were poached right, seasoning was very nice.
Cool place, I’ll definitely be back.
Beautiful coffee and the sandwiches are on point. Service can be a bit slow at times but it's worth waiting for a good coffee. Keep up the good work!
This cafe is down a one way street and very inconspicuous, the staff are friendly and attentive but not all over you. Menu is small but well put together using tasty robust ingredients. Good amount of seating, industrial chic deco.
Dropped in for a takeaway coffee today and was impressed that despite the long line - coffees are pushed out quickly and in the end what would normally be a 10 minute minimum wait (there were at least 8 people ahead of me) I was in and out within 5! The 2 baristas were quick and obviously have a great assembly line going. Interiors were hip and cool - I'll have to spot in for a bite next time in the hood. It has ample seating and is also very well lit.
My almond milk coffee was yummy (although I hope they upgrade to Milk Lab over Almond Breeze Barista blend). I also loved that alternative milks (ie. soy or almond) were Not abhorrently overpriced. It was a mere .50c as opposed to what is often $1 or $1.50 elsewhere.

Loved this place! Great breakfast, coffee and service. I had the smashed avo and hot chocolate, both were made wonderfully. I enjoyed the friendly chatter with the staff also. Will definitely be back again!
Great food with friendly service. I am a coffee snob, extremely hard to please in that department but the coffee was excellent. Will definitely be going there again.

I'm not aware of how the place used to be as I went there for the first time recently. The food tasted delicious and the service was first class! This is a small, funky and lively cafe that people definitely need to check out
The place has definitely changed from the last owners. Better environment inside and out, great customer service, friendly staff and the food is getting better and better each time I go.
Before I came here I heard a lot of bad things about this Cafe. Today I went there and was impressed - positively! The service was super nice and fast and my pulled pork Burger was just amazing! Will definitely come back and recommend to friends :)
We (3 people) went to LM&O for lunch today and were very happy with the meals and the cheerful friendly service. The selection of meals met with our approval and the food we ordered was tasty and we were pleased with our choices. The fresh squeezed fruit juices were delicious and the coffee excellent. We intend to return in the near future.
Artistic interiors surround the space possibly owing to the fact that the site used to be a paint factory. My soy flat white and five grain porridge w/ rose infused poached pear, fresh berries, roasted nuts and grains had the medicine going down fo sho. There's also some solid basics available on the brekkie menu, something that is becoming increasingly hard to find in Melbourne's hipsterville. And, come on, the name is cute as :D
I love the food here, pulled pork roll is my favourite, I've never had a bad coffee either, staff are lovely. Hip without being hipster, so even a daggy 45 year old is welcome here.
Just had a take away coffee here the other day but it was fantastic. Really nice specialty coffee. Really pretty inside too! Staff were friendly and helpful.
Been a fan of LMO for a while, exposed brick and nice clean wood finish couples the good quality food and coffees. Probably the best local cafe for anyone living in the north east corner of East Melbourne. Not as busy as SOJO and Proud Mary, which is very handy on a weekend.
This place is easy to miss unless you know what you are looking for. Really enjoyed the wide open space of the cafe and even though it is packed you don't really feel it. Very impressed with my corn beef hash and bagel waffle, not a dish you see elsewhere. Coffee was great and staffs really friendly.

Amazing simple food done well. Eggs always cooked to perfection, beautiful interior design. Friendly staff and amazing brown bread. Food came
Out quick and looked like perfection on a plate and tastes even better.
“Wedged comfortably between industrial warehouses, an architecture firm above and adjacent to an auto shop is a cafe called Lemon, Middle & Orange. The deserted and edgy surroundings doesn’t naturally come to mind as being a brunch hotspot; as one may more expect a milk bar offering a ‘Big M and Four n Twenty’ combo rather than a single origin coffee. Yet this brunch location is an oasis within its industrial surrounds, superb decor and a menu to impress.

Lemon, Middle and Orange sits in a very unlikely location. Occupying the building that was once Goodlass Wall Paint Co, it’s on a narrow one-way street surrounded by graffiti-decorated warehouses. You might completely miss it if not for the large banner hanging out the front. Tables inside are a spaced little tightly together, but there are a handful of seats out the front, which today were utilised by dog-owners who’d brought their pooches along for brunch, and to savour the lovely sunny weather.
I love this place, the interior design is especially good. Food and baked goods are well presented and delicious. There is also a fabulous outdoor area out the back, its great place to work (not too noisy) and catch up with friends. Owners seem nice too.
you head to lemon, middle & orange. on the most unassuming narrow street in collingwood, i never would have looked to find this place if not for the zomato app. . surprised to come into such a large and bright space, with lots of tables alongside the wall. with a british influenced menu, we started off with the 5 senses coffee.Â
The food here is really good, beautiful breakfasts. Service is pretty good, only downfall was that I made a booking and arrived on time and our table had been given to someone else, we then had to wait for a table.
Service with a Smile. Regardless of how busy they are, the staff here are always friendly and attentive - I love this place. The food isn't as 'out there' as it is in other brunch spots across the city, but it is of an excellent standard. The corned beef brunch is amazing, as is the fish finger brioche.
i was recently involved in a photoshoot at rokeby studios who recommended ‘lemon middle + orange’ for our catering for the shoot. i only got a quick chance to duck in and grab our food that day, but was so happy with the service and quality of the lunch menu that i knew i’d have to come back for a proper brunch! according to their website, ‘situated amongst the industrial warehouses and factories of rokeby street, collingwood (the cafe) is named after the pigments offered by the former paint factory at the site.’ i loved the subtle hints to the heritage of the building incorporated by the cafe – old rusted signs hung here and there. it added a lovely touch. as did the beautiful native flower arrangement on the large shared table. lemon middle and orange latte, lemon middle and orange the menu is full of variety and non-standard inclusions – next time i am so trying the black rice pudding!
Yumm!!!. The crocquet was excellent and the coffee with pistachio tea cake was also good....next time must try the peanut butter french toast....
Awesome coffee tucked away!. Love this joint - great coffee, awesome brunch!
This is a lovely place. I enjoy their breakfasts. They are GF friendly. Their chai latte is fabulous. Their coffee is good and their service is excellent.
Always Amazing. Back again today...boy the cafe is not so hidden anymore, it just keeps getting busier and busier. Once again, the staff are professional and always smiling, the coffee is good and the food is incredible. Highly recommend the salmon brunch dish, very fresh and light for warmer days.
Great little fit out and place. Had the special lamb croquettes with poached eggs which was amazing. Will come back again for sure
Just stumbled across this gem and I'm so glad I did, such a wonderful space. Amazing fitout complimented by great food, the staff are lovely and coffee is to die for! Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work guys
I can not get enough of this cafe from the beautiful fit out,to the glistening coffee machine, right down to the mouthwatering food and attentive service. Each time I go to LM&O it is getting busier and busier, good food news travels fast!! My favourite dishes so far are the croquettes(to die for),black rice porridge(so comforting)full bfast and of course I have to mention the salmon(the crowning glory). The house blend coffee is espresso syndicate with an ever changing single origin from Clark st roasters which is offered for black coffees served in delightful yellow tulip cups.Ive always been met with a friendly smile, quick service, offered a newspaper and told the daily specials I feel some of the previous reviews are a little harsh and wanted to say my experiences here have been a pleasure. So keep it up guys, love your work.
Fabulous restaurant, with excellant food & customer service. Will certainly be making a return visit.
Delicious fantastic. Fantastic catering option for those using Rokeby Studios. Easy to deal with Via email. Quinoa salad + pulled pork rolls were a winner with the crew. Thanks guys!
One of the best in Melbourne. Excellent food and fantastic service.
The food was fantastic but my experience was let down by poor service. We came in on a Wednesday afternoon with only a few other tables taken. No one came over to seat us so we made our way over to the register to which the lady standing behind looked at us like she was unsure of what we wanted. After we were seated it took 5 minutes for us to be given a menu. Even though the cafe was quiet the staff looked quite stressed out and didn't seem to know how to prioritise orders as I watched 6 food orders waiting on the counter for almost 5 minutes. The chef pressed his service bell a number of times which a waitress ignored while chatting to other staff member and then choose to serve water instead of the waiting plates of food on the counter. We then received our food first and found that they had forgotten our coffee orders. The food was great. It was just a pity the service was poor and the staff seemed inexperienced. I would hate to see what it's like when they are actually busy. I will be back but I hope it's improved.
Great Atmosphere and Friendly Staff. Awesome food, the croquettes of the day are always amazing. The cafe usually has a single origin coffee that is really smooth and delicious. The staff are always greeting you with a smile. The corn beef hash and chicken sandwich are my favorites.
Comfy, and good eats and coffee. A comfortable place to spend a little time. Tables not too close nor decked out in esoteric fitzroy hipster ville decor. A breath of fresh air. Lovely waitresses with Irish and other accents and fantastic single origin coffee, all served promptly, with a smile. Menu is well priced, and has some variety, from salads, pulled pork sandwiches, great poached egg and Gorgonzola filled croquettes and fantastic waffles, American style, with bacon. A great egg dish with black pudding and all served promptly and efficiently, no pretention and very knowledgable.
Due to the location, fairly hipster free, just the locals and local residents and students and young quirky professionals.
Well done,
Unbelievable. The food is amazing. So tastey. I'll be back here regularly.
Will definitely be back. I had a major case of food envy here - I decided to build my own brekky and, while still good, I couldn't help but eye off my friend's smoked corn and quinoa porridge with mushies and a poached egg. Looked great, smelt great, tasted even better! Coffee is nice and interesting, not over pricey. The staff here can be a bit hit and miss - sometimes they seem to wander aimlessly, but when I accidentally dropped a bit of my aforementioned breakfast onto my skirt, a waitress helpfully fetched a cloth with some soap to stop my skirt staining. Very pleasant space, nice decor and friendly people. Gotta be happy with that.
Delicious breakfast if black pudding colcannon and soda bread. Friendly service from a very helpful staff and a Relaxed atmosphere in lemon middle and orange.
Amazing. This cafe was a great find, hidden down an industrial lane of Collingwood!! I had the Croquettes which I recommend to try, they were delicious!! Friends of mine had the full breakfast which was served with colcannon, I tried it and it was so tasty. We started noticing an Irish influence so we looked up the website and sure enough there is an Irish heritage there which highlight some the best tasting Irish influenced food such as soda bread, black pudding, colcannon etc..
The food tasted great and I will definitely make a return visit and recommend to friends.
Fantastic!. Great food. Lovely vibe...a hidden treasure. We come here often.
5/12/2015 This place used to be our regular breakfast place but I have stopped going. Change of owner. The coffee and food is not as good as before. Unfortunately, I'll have to downgrade the review.
Best cafe I've been to in Melbourne. This is hands down the best cafe I've visited in Melbourne. It's not often that you come across a restaurant where the menu is truly unique but stills caters for all tastes. I think I've visited at least 10 times since it's opened, and it has never failed to disappoint. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is gorgeous - so full of flavour, the atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable and uber cool. The owners have done a fantastic job with this place, I'm really looking forward to my next visit. 10 out of 10 - reasonable, tasty with a relaxing ambiance!
Creative, outstanding. One of the best in Melbourne. Love, a food snob.
Relaxed, Delicious - will be back. This place is a Gem. Comfy, relaxed seating. Great coffee.
I had the pulled pork and it was so full of flavours. Couldn't resist the rice pudding either, and it was worth it!
Yum yum. Croquettes was yummy. Salmon is not thinly sliced which is a nice change and original. Clean fresh fit out. Added bonus coffee was good.
Great fitout, great coffee, delicious breakfast items! Waffels were cute & well played. Black pudding & colcannon-LEGENDS-it's a hangover breaky DREAM -haven't seen colcannon on any menu in Melbourne, so thank you! I've also told every paddy I know about the place.
We wouldn't have minded a waitress who wasn't afraid of coming to the table.
Great effort for the first phase in their new venue journey!
We were a party of five, we all had different meals and we were all very happy with our meals, probably one of the best meals we've had all year!
I feel like I shouldn't post this review because then the place won't be a hidden secret and we won't be able to get a table when we come back again (and again)!
The sweet corn & quinoa porridge was amazing!
Great coffee, great service, really friendly staff. Breakfast sliders are really tasty!
Visited for breakfast this morning, was expecting it to be flat out but we got a table promptly. Greeted with a warm welcome. Menu is unique with different spins on the usual breakfast fare. I ordered the sweetcorn and quinoa porridge with confit mushrooms, soft egg and croutons. It was absolutely delicious! I wouldn't normally order a savoury porridge but I am so glad I did. My friend ordered the salmon with potato croquettes which she also enjoyed. Coffee was spot on too. The staff were all great and no teething issues which seem to come with new places opening, they have it all sorted! Will be back again for sure!
Loved the decor, service was very attentive and friendly, kitchen was super organised and professional. Had the waffles with caramelised banana and ice cream. It was delicious - my small complaints were that the ice cream was a little bit watery. I would also have like a bit more caramelised banana and fewer banana chips. Well done guys!
Yum!. This place is really great, different menu, great space and awesome coffee. The black pudding and soda bread was totally delish....
The service, food & coffee were great! :) The Irish influence of the menu is a great change to the eggs & bacon you see at every cafe. I had the croquettes of the day & my friend had the lemon yoghurt, crispy puff number! The place is great! Don't expect ordinary when you come here .. Expect the best! This place has become one of my fave's .. Make it yours too!!!
Had an amazing brunch here. Service, food and coffee were all superb. I had the black pudding and it was the perfect texture and didn't have that metallic after taste that bp sometimes has. Croquettes were inventive and delicious too. I need to go back to try the waffles. The staff were friendly and patient, hard to come by in Melbourne these days.
...the banana waffles with bacon, the green bean salad with poached egg and the smoked salmon with fennel salad. The green beans usually comes with duck egg but the kitchen had run out that particular morning, and substituted with 2 poached chicken eggs instead. The winning dish turned out to be the salmon dish. The fish was excellent with a lovely smokey flavour and sat atop crispy fluffy potato latkes. I loved the shaved fennel..
I totally loved breakfast at Lemon, Middle and Orange. There's plenty of good happening already, and I can only hope they can keep it up once cover numbers start going up. Easy-going and smiley staff, a clientele (on the day we happened to be there anyway) with Irish accents and a totally gorgeous fit out, what's not to like?
...quite a few gluten free options for both breakfast and lunch, and usually at least one gluten free sweets option in the cabinet (like a cupcake or cake). If you want an amazing breakfast / brunch try the House hot smoked plum cured Tasmanian salmon, potato latkes, poached eggs, fennel, horseradish crème fraîche – amazing!
