Ive never heard of this place until I was invited for dinner recently. What a surprise! Food was amazing and really encompasses the best part of Italian cuisine. Cosy and homely, you feel like part of the family. Wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly, they barely stopped all night. Wood fired Pizzas and tasty mains. My only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner.

My grandson and I were made to feel so very special. The food was so amazing. My grandson is very particular on what he eats and could not wipe the smile off of his face. Highly recommended by us. Thank you for a good time and a good feed.

A little gem in the middle of Fitzroy! I have always enjoyed eating here, the atmosphere is always lively and usually quite full weekend evenings, the staff are always the most friendly and helpful with choosing from a compact but great menu! Service is relatively quick and the food has always tasted great whatever I had ordered. If I'm nitpicking here then the only thing I would say is perhaps increase the portions a little bit but that might be because I'm a big eater ;)

Went in just before close and was treated poorly with a huge side of attitude. It’s a shame because they had a lot of unsold pasta that I was willing to pay good money for had they not been so unprofessional. Walked out empty handed.

Excellent food and service worth a bite if your in the area

Very average food. The lamb shoulder in particular was tough and dry, the opposite of what slow cooked meat should be. Stick to the pizza which is decent if unremarkable.

Best Italian good with soul going around. From the moment you walk in to the smell of the open fire place, the kitchen full of activity, staff friendly and open to suggestions. Only advice is make sure you don’t eat before to fit all the food in. From the snapper cooked in the wood fired oven to the devin tiramisu. I’ll be going back and taking more friends. Keep the good work up.

Honestly you can't go wrong with the authenticity of this place. Honest italian homey vibes. I can't recommend the meatballs ENOUGH. Everything is 100% handmade. If you want a serious pasta fix and youre not willing to spend a mint, Highly highly recommend taking a seat in, or takeaway. You're always accompanied by a slice of bread and as much parmesan as you like. If you're in town, make sure to stop in here on a winters afternoon.

Great cheap eat! My friend and I swung by in the late afternoon on a weekend and grabbed the last pastas to go. Both meals were tasty and served with some great bread. Good for a quick tasty bite.

Have been coming here for a few years now. They make the best pasta for a perfect winter lunch. They also do sausages, meatballs and schnitzel so it’s never boring

Came here for lunch with my friends on a weekday. We ordered the small plate of pasta for $9. The pasta was cooked well but it needed some seasoning. Service was the only let down. The wait staff didnt explain how the menu worked. We didn't know that we could also have smaller portions of each pasta so that we could have some salad with our meal.

Love this place. Consistently good home made style food, made with love. Amazing value too. Schnitzel day is the best. Big carb heavy serves, so prepare for a food coma.

Nice little pasta shop where you can buy pasta to take home and cook yourself or if you have time take a seat and let them spoil you . Pasta is beautiful and so cheap staff
Are great

Armed with little time, I dropped into Pasta Classica. Three yummy pastas for $10 a plate. I selected 2 - a creamy mushroom and ham sauce with cocoa ravioli filled with ricotta as well as a tomato based fresh vegetable sauce with meat ravioli. Freshly grated parmesan (italian) greeted me at the table as well as a slice of bread and butter. It was so fresh and delicious. You could taste the freshly cooked ingredients. After I finished the plate, I was so full. The bread was handy - I mopped up the sauces - Yum. These guys have got the basics right.
You can also take home some other freshly made ravioli /pasta for dinner tomorrow night as well. Just like in a small town in Italy. I did note Mamma cooking the sauces in the kitchen ready for the next tray to come out - freshly made - that was to be gnocchi. Apparently they vary the combination daily - sometimes risotto.

Click to view slideshow. I follow St Ali North on Instagram and saw a post about a Truffle Masterclass being held– it was to be hosted in collaboration with Pasta Classica, Pepe Saya and Madame Truffles. Pasta making, Butter making and learning all about truffles were to be covered and Entry was Free – so I decided to RSVP and check it out. I arrived at St Ali – this was my first time to St Ali North, I have previously been to St Ali in Carlton – and there were quite a few people already present. The fit out was very modern – complete with an array of windows and wooden ledge seating. I can just envision what it would look like during the day – for breakfast and lunch – with the light streaming into the venue and enveloping the entire venue in a positive and relaxed vibe. The masterclass was carried out in the main dining area – situated past the main counter/bar. Chairs were set up in order to sit and enjoy the show. Before the show you got the chance to enjoy some free canapés – whic

There are not many options for pre-made food, takeaway or delivery that are made with quality produce, not packed full of chemicals, fat and salt and that actually taste good. That is why I am so happy to have found Pasta Classica. So next time you are feeling like a quick, easy and delicious meal then swing by Smith Street and pick up a selection of pasta.

What?. It's very dark inside, there are nasty rags as table cloths, the shelving is littered with papers and leaflets, the space is badly utilised and the food is mediocre at best. The risotto is oily and sprinkle this with a topping of the coldest service possible and you have my impressions of the place.

It's like one person in the family decided to create this business and dragged their non-hospitable family members (bar one young lady) into it.

Really loved this place Hav.... Really loved this place
Have to say probably the best pasta I have had in Melbourne.
I have been back her quite a few times and the men seems to rotate quite regularly.
Seems to be a family run business with a lot of regulars.
Have turned up once at1pm and had to wait a while as it was flat out.
Happy to go back here for sure

Have to agree with some if the other users here. Looks like a small family business really haven't seen this in any other stores. Brought some ravioli look like it had been sitting there a while, filling wasn't that great. A lot better pastas out there

Worst experience ever. Guys do not go here, really sucks.

I went because I had read a few good reviews but clearly these are friends and family.

When I got there I was confronted by a surly old woman who had either had a bad day or was totally clueless about customer service. She proceeded to attack me for not being quick enough so we got in a heated argument.

Seriously not worth it with so many other good places around them

Just like nonna.... My boyfriend has been going to Pasta Classica for years. It's an unassuming little pasta bar - serving uncooked homemade pasta for you to make at home, and with a small little eatery inside. The different pastas they have available look divine, and taste as good as they look. We took home some gnocchi, best gnocchi I've ever had (but I'm yet to have my boyfriends Nonna's). They cook three different types of pasta by 11am (or 12, can't remember) with different sauces for you to choose from. We tried all three different types and they were ridiculously good! You can choose one or all three and it comes to a total of around $11 each, so cheap. Do yourself a favour and head to Pasta Classica, you won't be disappointed!

A Collingwood Institution. I have been going to Pasta Classica for the past 10 years and I have to say it's a locals secret, but it's a Collingwood institution! They offer beautiful home made food at a great price. Eaters queue for their pastas [they offer 3 varieties each lunch time], sandwiches, salads and take home pasta and sauces. Fridays are my absolute favourite, because they make their amazing Schnitzels. The queue can be long in the lunch rush but it is totally worth the wait. Whilst waiting in queue, I've seen people who've travelled in from Preston just to get the Schnitzel. Yes, Pasta Classica attracts a cross section of the community because their food is delicious and service is excellent.

Pasta dry and off. Driving down smith street we see a small pasta place and I remember seeing the owner on twitter every ten minutes saying how good his pasta was. Frankly we love pasta, but have never heard of this brand or seen it anywhere. So we thought we would drop in and try it. We where surprised to see one of the girls serving and taking money with no gloves. The pasta looked dry and black looking. My husband and I brought some gnocchi and some fettuccine. I know why I haven't seen this brand anywhere as the gnocchi tasted like dehydrated potato and the fettuccine had black speckles through it and smelt funny like it was off ... Not great
