Review Sunny's Bakery - Collingwood

Trader Joe
Pies are just okay here!. Their customer service is extremely rude though. Maybe a little over the top as they know they are competing with n Lee which is much more popular. They scorn if you ask for margarine, not friendly at all. Not the same range as n Lee. pretty bad hotdogs. Banh mi not so great either.

Delicious banh mi at a really cheap price $6. I ordered the one with grilled pork. It has the usual pickled vegetables and herb and Pate. There aren't many Vietnamese bakeries in Collingwood so this one was a breath of fresh air.

Look I find the whole Sunny vs N Lee wars confounding, but yes, lols, Sunny's my favourite!!! I didn't think I liked pork before I came across them. Seriously, didn't eat it, wouldn't touch it, wouldn't look at it. Now I dream about it. I've had nothing but friendly and enthusiastic service here. Brilliant.

Best Bahn Mi in Collingwood. Good cheap lunch.

Fast friendly service for good value Banh Mi. The fresh-baked bread, quick-pickled vegetables, and ~$6 price point make Sunny's Bakery a top choice for a quick lunch in Fitzroy.

Our go to for fast, delicious, cheap sandwich rolls. Fresh out of the oven, warm and toasty. I really like the satay tofu and they also have a lemongrass 'chicken'. Both vegan. I like the staff too. They're a smiley bunch.

Definitely my favourite pork crackling rolls in the area.. & the chicken skewers are nice! I haven't tried much else here, but the ingredients have always been fresh. Staff have always been welcoming, professional & friendly.

I tried the cripy pork roll without much expectation. Better than many places but not outstanding.the bread and veggies tastes fresh.

Been getting the grilled chicken banh mi for years and it's still my favourite banh mi bakery. Staff are always smiling, friendly and patient :) much love for this bakery

I’m usually a Nhu Lan kinda girl but today we decided to check out Sunny’s Bakery! 🥪

We ordered:
🥪 Pork Combination Roll 🤩🤩🤩 $5.50
🥪 Crispy Pork Roll 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 $7

One of the major difference is that they use butter instead of the whipped mayo that’s originally used.

The Pork Combination Roll was nothing special I found that the actual bread roll wasn’t as crusty HOWEVER
The Crispy Pork Roll was so succulent the pork was nicely salted and the crackling was on point 👌

🤩🤩🤩🤩

If you live in the area you're either a Sunny's person or a N.Lee person. I'm a Sunny's person. Nothing like a Banh Mi at 6:30am after being up working all night. I prefer a BBQ pork one (like the ones they do at Nhu Lan) but their roast pork one is excellent. This morning they haven't had the roast pork done yet so I tried the pork kebab which was good too but I'll go back to the roast pork.

I just had an almond croissant from here, and it was fantastic. Fresh, crunchy with toasted almond flakes on top, as well as custard inside.. all for 2.50!

This is a very nice Vietnamese bakery. The popular option are their amazing rolls. Like subway you chose your filling to go with main (for example crispy pork) and their options are great and most of the time you come out with a yum roll that will be a great lunch. It's not mind-blowingly amazing but makes a great lunch

We had roasted chicken roll and pork roll. It was more expensive than while ago but it has more filling and looks more bigger. We enjoy it very much.

Yum. Here is the chicken Banh Mi. So cheap for the amount you get ($5.50) with all of the traditional components - coriander en masse (who doesn't love excess coriander) carrot, chilli and lettuce on a fresh baguette.
Definitely one of the better Banh Mi spots in the Collingwood area.

I have been getting Banh Mi's from Sunny's since I was a child!! And they are still amazing. The staff are super friendly and nice. However, there is sometimes a bit of inconsistency with fillings depending on who is working. Other than that, I love it

Banh mi and bakeries are the greatest combo. Perfect for that hit of protein, sugar and fat in so many options of forms. This little store is in the Smith St row of many banh mi eateries and definitely up there. Decent bread, cheap, homely tasting meaty sandwiches featuring any number of fillings. Largely around the $5 mark to $6.50 if you give in to the crispy pork.

Update: rice paper rolls are good value at $5.50 for three, but the vanilla slice was disappointing tasting old with the topping being fossilised over.

Several doors down from the ever popular N. Lee Bakery, Sunny's does it's best to compete. The prices are without doubt cheaper across all their items. However, since it is no where near as busy, it means quality and freshness is a hit a miss. If you are lucky, bread will be freshly made. Otherwise it may have sat there all day. Similarly with the vegetables and other fillings. If you want to save a few dollars, this isn't a bad place to go.

Best bánh mì in the area. Always fresh and made by friendly staff. The best part of it is you don't have to wait in line and it's quick and easy. Very cheap for a bite on the run.

"go to" for a quick and cheap lunch. IMO, this place is better than the nearby N.Lee bakery. The staff are always friendly and service is quick. Food has always been good quality for me.

Only issue, I think they are a bit inconsistent with the pricing. I often order just an egg and lettuce roll and the price has varied anywhere from $3.00 to $4.50.

Sadly unfresh banh mi. Usually the place can be alright but this time went I purchased a vietnamese roll it was really quiet unfresh with most of the ingredients nearly off - the pork was pretty old and the vegetables all wilted. In addition, the bread rolls that I purchased separately were evidently not baked fresh as they were cold and at least a day old. I don't think I will be going back.

I really don't fathom why there is so often a queue outside N.Lee but not outside Sunny's. They are friendly and they are not stingy with ingredients in their banh mi like N.Lee can be. Give this place a whirl and see.

Quality and flavour of the meat, along with ingredient portions made this visit disappointing. No where near the quality of banh mi at nhu lan

Avo, salad, chilli & coriander on a roll.. Avocado, salad, chilli & coriander on a roll. Made fresh to order.
Tastes great. And only $4.00!
Brilliant

Let the good times roll. Absolute classic, no place on Smith st better for a good ol' fashioned Vietnamese roll.

Great food, great price and food served quick!

The porsche of bakeries.. Salad roll; 3 dorra. Chicken, cheese and salad only 5 dorra. They closed for renovations a while back for like a month and my friend Al who is a popular rock and roll musician sent me a text when they re-opened to let me know and he hardly ever has credit so you can tell how much this place means.
