M boys weren't too excited about the Iced Chocolate - it was dark chocolate and had an odd aftertaste. The staff happily changed their drinks to the Lemony Snicket soda which the boys thought was the best drink they'd ever had.
The food and coffee here is totally amazing.. Even our fussy 6 year old loves it!!

Popped in yesterday to try the incredible French Toast I'd heard about, & was so impressed by this place! The food & coffee were excellent, the staff were really attentive & service was great. They were happy to accommodate our table of 3 adults, 2 babies & a toddler - no mean feat in a small venue! The food service was very fast, which we appreciated. Looking forward to going back & trying the rest of the menu. :)

Came here on a weekend and unfortunately the top floor was booked for an event. I had the chilli crab omelette and mocha. Food was good but coffee is below average. They have sparkling water too at the self service corner.
Food tasted as good as it looks, great customer service friendly & quick, they had a lovely selection of teas & coffees! will be back again & happily recommend
3.5 rating. the famous crab omelette was bursting with flavour, and filled with a fairly reasonable portion of crab. the fried mushroom garnish was a tasty and good textural addition to the dish. my only gripe is that it was very expensive at $24 and came with the tiniest piece of bread underneath.
my mocha came out very sour which is unusual, but when told about this they made me another one which was fine but still a bit sour and not like any other mochas i’ve ever had. my partner’s flat white was average but no issues there.
the decor is bright, calm, and spacious (although we did come late on a friday), and the staff on duty were both lovely.
i’d come back if/when i have a crab omelette craving, but wouldn’t order a mocha again from here!
Came here for brunch with my husband and my dog on Saturday morning. The place was nice on the side of canning hwy. This place also pet friendly. The coffee was good. The staffs are friendly.
I loved my friend’s meal, which was the brisket benedict. It had the BEST egg! The yolk was surprisingly not runny, but rather, it was a creamy butter texture. And it was just unique, but I loved it.
My buttermilk chicken was good as well, but average.
Overall, also LOVED the simplistic decor and the staff were friendly.
Yums. Everything was divine. Had the jerk chicken on potato croquette. No faults to be found! Great coffee. Had an extra treat by ordering a choc croissant which the lovely lady at the counter offered to have warmed up and it was buttery and sublime. Not sure if baked in house or brought in, but it was fresh and had beautiful layers. Warm friendly service, still of sparkling water available on tap.

I think Frisch does just enough to be a little unique with their menu. Especially the Chilli Crab omellete (which was our favourite). I found the French toast a bit plain, chips and Wagyu burger were filling for my Mum and I. My brother loved his Jerk Chicken (didn't try it)
Self Service Sparkling water was huge Plus, as most places charge a premium for the fizzy stuff.
Love the atmosphere and vibe, and its easy to chill out inside, or outside. Recommended meet-up for business as its also quiet in the suburbs.

It's an interesting looking place with a unique menu. We had the chilli crab omelette, pulled jerk chicken and a donut.
The chilli crab omelette was great. Eggs were fluffy and the crab tasted fresh. The chilli sauce was sweet with a nice hint of spice. I liked the addition of deep fried enoki mushrooms which added texture.
The pulled jerk chicken itself was ok, but the hash it was served with was the real highlight of that dish, it was crispy with a soft onion filling.
The donut was good too, they were generous with the chocolate filling although we felt it was served at too cold a temperature.
The plating here is nice, and the fact they have a water station that dispenses sparkling water makes the whole experience better. A nice place for a weekend brunch.
This cafe has a minimalist decor, very friendly staff, and a great menu selection. The vibe here is similar to many cafes in Melbourne, which is what might be the draw-card for many visitors. It has still and sparkling water on tap, has some outdoor seating, and an upper floor that caters to group bookings.
To be fair, the coffee here is great. It's well-made by experienced baristas and you have the option of a house blend or a rotating single-origin that's freshly ground on the spot. I last tried their mac-and-cheese toasted sandwich with their house-special BBQ sauce and despite the price I was impressed. It's great for a novelty outing if you go for brunch, but doesn't always have capacity for many people. Best visited on a weekday to ensure you get a seat.
We were looking for non standard cafe food and got the chilli crab omelette and jerk chicken hash upon recommendation of the chef. They were really yummy and were interesting to try!
Went there for Sunday brunch and we grabbed a table upstairs. The open space on the second floor was really airy and I liked the simple decor. We ordered chilli crab omelette, French toast and burger. Definitely recommend the chilli crab omelette. Burger was alright, and the French toast was quite delicious.
Arrived on a Sunday morning for brunch. The cafe wasn't too busy then. It's counter service so you'll have to find your own table and go order when you're ready. There's a lovely outdoor terrace seating area upstairs and that overlooks the highway. We ordered 3 dishes and my fav was the chilli crab omelette. The smoked cod and brioche toast dish were relatively average in taste . Dishes and coffee were lovely but the food took a while to come. Friendly service and the cafe has a casual laidback vibe.
Food; typical menu covering all the basics- eggs and bacon and French toast. I got the pulled pork benedict which was really yummy and it had a beautiful presentation. The actual building itself that it's in and the decor is very modern, simple and white. Very classic and nice, but quite cold and harsh for a cafe. Easy to find and get to though! The staff were sooo friendly and kind, but only really did what they had to do. Overall nice place but I wouldn't go back if I had the option of this place and another.
This smart cafe looked inviting. We tried the breakfast burger and French toast today - both of which were absolutely delicious. Portions are small though. The French toast cafe only with 4 sticks of bread, that’s less than 2 slices of sandwich bread! A party of 2 may have to order an extra third dish to share.

A beautifully sparse and spotlessly clean cafe, with heaps of promise unfortunately a little bit let down today by the execution.
My skinny capp was well presented but lacked strength. Not sure it was the beans or the barista.
The famous French toast also presented well and the first bite was just heavenly with the perfect amount of delicious coconut pandan custard and berries. But the slice underneath wasn't afforded the same generosity, instead having just a small dollop of custard on top which contributed to the second part of my meal being rather dry. I ordered the dish with gluten-free bread which was sliced thick and not soaked in egg mix quite long enough to give it that scrummy, melt-in-your-mouth Frenchy texture.
There was no shortage of customers today proving that Frisch & Barc has a good name in this area. I'd like to think I just jagged an untimely slip-up in the execution of this dish so I wouldn't write this place off just yet.
Big upside are the two uber-friendly girls at the counter.
A nice quaint cafe perfect for a some quick rnr in a busy work day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great to see some unique dishes on the menu instead of the same old brunch items. I ordered the jerk chicken hash and it absolutely satisfied my taste buds. Coffee was equally as good.
I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I thought the coffee was exceptionally good! It has a very nice after taste. I wish they had a bigger mug (they only have one size, regular)
The food was ok and tasty, we had the muesli and baked cod. The serving size was on a tad smaller side though (if compared to other cafes around Perth for similar price range). You know that feeling when you ordered a full meal and walked out thinking I should've got something else haha we were half full!!
Will definitely go back for the coffee and give other dishes another go!
Decided to venture to Como for breakfast today as had heard some pretty good things about this place. Menu all looks pretty yum but with a breakfast burger featured, how could I choose anything else? :) although burger was delicious, perfectly cooked and still slightly pink, juicy and pretty big, I was disappointed that it was just a burger! Complete with lettuce and hot chips (which weren't cooked great)! Not exactly how I picture breakfast burgers, felt much more like a lunch dish. Tea and coffees were great and service was friendly. Won't rush back but a lovely spot all the same
This place has been on our list for ages, we've been waiting for a quieter week day to walk down and give it a try.
Upon arriving the staff were super friendly and greeted us with a smile and hello.
We ordered coffee, hot chocolate, eggs on toast and some pastries.
The coffee was really really nice..smooth with a kick.
Eggs were cooked well and the pastries fresh.
We will be back and will give the breakfast burger a try.

This restaurant definitely fill the void of having no outstanding brunch place in Como and South Perth.
Went for a brunch, I ordered unorthodox dish for my main, which is Kakunidon, and accompanied by honey ice tea.
Kakuni means braised pork in Japanese, together served with onsen tamago or sousvide egg, watercress salad, and abundant of brown rice mixed with red rice. At first I don't have a high expectation given that the dish is a Japanese dish, and I don't have any idea how Japanese dish fit into traditional brunch meal. Never have I been so wrong in my entire life, superb was an understatement for this meal. The pork was braised into juicy perfection, the dressing on the salad was outstanding, the egg was cooked well enough to be called onsen tamago, but the thing that stood out for me was the broth along with the rice. The amount of rice does not overwhelm the pork and other condiments; the broth from the braised pork puddled down the bowl and absorbed by the rice, combined into a holy goodness. Utterly satisfied with my choice of meal.
For the drink, the honey ice tea was nothing special. I can barely taste the honey, given the name Frisch and Barc heavily implied the Austrian Nobel winner which researched bee and honey. Nevertheless, it did not affect my satisfaction toward my main dish.
Service in this restaurant is good, nothing outstanding. Just like what you will find in most of brunch restaurant. Atmosphere in this restaurant also encourage people to stay and have a chit-chat for a long of time. The place is not to big and not that small, so you won't feel so disturbed by the noise from other people. However, the parking spots are few, can only accommodate 5 cars, therefore public transportation or walking may be an option at peak hour.
Totally will come back here again!
I came here on a Sunday morning. It was a bit hard to find a parking but found out that there is a few parking lots for customer just right beside the cafe! The food was lovely and super delicious! I had a buttermilk pancake with fried chicken and that was the best chicken with sesame sauce i have ever tasted !!! The french toast here is a bomb 😍😍 it is the fluffiest french toast in Perth! Definitely will come back here more often and highly recommended!!! ❤
While we weren’t able to enjoy this café’s Scandinavian interior and cool ambiance because of limited parking and a screaming baby, we’ll be back sometime.
This café is beautiful! I love the aesthetic deco that complements the whole atmosphere. We ordered the French toast and the pork toasties. The French toast is actually divine! I absolutely love how it incorporated Asian flavours to it - the pandan coconut cream and the berry compote just makes my tastebuds sing👌🏼 The French toast was fluffy and moist on the inside, perfectly balanced out with the crunchy texture of berry compote and pistachio bits. Would defo recommend this!
The toastie was superb as well. You can taste the gooey goodness before even diving in and the sweet potato crisp are actually crispy and seasoned well.
Wish there were more options on the menu though! Overall pretty good place for brunch and catch-up seshs:) I would come back but I probably won't crave for the food.

We visited for a weekday lunch where there was only another table occupied and a couple coming to get take away coffees. I was surprised to see how empty it was. We decided to go with the recommended dishes, spicy crab omelette and the pandan custard French toast. I enjoyed both dishes, the omelette more so than the French toast. The omelette was on the small size but had a decent amount of crab within it. I loved the sauce on the side which definitely gave it that Singaporean taste. The custard under all the berry compote of the French toast was creamy with a subtle hint of the pandan. For me, it needed some freshness of fresh fruit as it was overly sweet with both the compote and custard. Long Mac coffee was strong and tasty. Overall I enjoyed the dishes.. my major criticism was the lack of service particularly since it was empty.
Love how this place incorporating its Asian influence into the dish and yet still have a bit of little surprises in their food. Besides the Singaporean chilli crab that I normally order, this time we tried to order different menu. Have to say that the mac and cheese toast is so yummy with a bit of a twist with the orange sauce. Not your ordinary Mac and cheese. Then the ham hock baked beans is also tasty. Been here for a few times and I think we tried all the menu now. Looking forward to a new menu.
OMG one of the definite best french toasts in Perth to this day. I ordered the pandan custard french toast and my god it was sensational! The flavours all worked together perfectly even though there wasn't any maple syrup. The toast was so eggy and moist! The pandan custard was super smooth and refreshing and the berry compote on top was tangy- simply divine!
So happy this place is walking distance from home! Delicious coffee and the breakfast is so yummy! The staff are always friendly too & they're dog friendly outside which is a plus!!
First time here and I am already so in love with their chilli crab omelette. A little sweet, a little spicy and every bite was bursting with flavours. However, having to be seated upstairs, I do find it inconvenient at times when I needed something, say extra plates, cutleries ...etc. This is because most of their staffs are downstairs so we don't get as much attention. That of course is not really much of a problem (for me at least) and I will definitely be back for omelette again
Best coffee in Como - worst place to find parking. Fortunately, we were just getting take away coffees but I had to be ''dropped off'' :) Lovely space inside and out in a new building. Food coming out looked great and my coffee was super smooth and made with love!
Pretty good quesadillas if I do say myself! But the iced chai latte didn't quite reach the same standard :/ I also have more of a sweet tooth during breakfast time so would of liked to have seen more nut free sweet meals since I'm allergic..

The building from outside really attractive, interior is simple and clean which is a great place to meet up for a coffee. I went during the weekday, ordered a pork belly polenta, fried chicken pancake and a soft shell crab omelette. Very nice and never tried before fusion food, it taste interesting - who would think fried chicken goes well with pancake and syrup. Soft shell crab in an omelette. However I think other place does taste better. They do serve you a great chilled or sparkling water from tab (for free)
Parking is limited that probably hinder me to go back again. Overall is a great place to catch up with people.
Awhile back we came to try Frisch & Barc but were unable to find a parking spot but this time we arrived bright and early and were able to find street parking. We tried the breakfast burger with special sauce and Rosemary salt fries, panacotta with milo crumble and banana fritter and a croissant and all meals were beautifully presented and tasty.
It's the little things that were missing. The chicken salad was delicious, with dainty pomegranate seeds and dressing. It was so nice in fact that we wanted to take the leftovers home. I asked for a container and it was just no deal. I find that odd. Most places have the option. We also asked for side plates to share and got one only, which I also found odd. I won't be rushing back but the food was so yum that I might be swayed.
We came for lunch. I have the salad and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Succulent and juicy. Other food included poached egg on toast and cheese and pork hog toaster. Overall excellent food and ambience is great. Really interesting to find out why they call this place Frisch and Barc. If you want to know why you have to come here and try the delicious food!

Not one to usually apply sommelier like analysis to my morning brew but this one certainly had hints of chocolate and hazelnuts. Which in my usual skinny latte (#boring) was a little shock to my system....not that any of that was 'bad' per se, just unexpected.
The service was great and seeing as I paid $4.20 for a small coffee, something needed to be.
Something else that looked possibly great was breakfast. Simply judging by the numbers and happy (if loud) chatter that abounded. Based on weight of numbers alone, I would probably go back for a look if I was in vicinity.
So finally just left wondering if anyone else has noticed a different blend there....anyone.....anyone...?
I enjoyed the Brioche French Toast with roasted coconut, pandan custard, crushed pistachio & berries; although perhaps not the best I've had. Would recommend the luxe hot chocolate that comes with a roasted marshmallow.
Unfortunately the coffee was burnt on this particular occasion :(
Thursday morning off called for brunch with Miss D. This time we ventured to Frisch and Barc, a cafe I've been itching to try. So glad we picked this place and on a weekday too, we got seats straight away and they treated Miss D's pooch like royalty with complimentary doggy biscuits and a clean water in a silver bowl!

The cafe itself is gorgeous, such a beautiful space and this follows through to the presentation of food. The flat white was good, not too frothy like most places, and the taste of the iced chocolate was incredible. However for $7.50 the iced chocolate had ice stuck to the bottom of the glass so was impossible to stir and there was about a teaspoon of ice cream which is ridiculous when you're paying that much for a drink in my opinion. The food was great, we had the pulled pork toastie (with bacon) and the bread used is great, the pulled pork was slightly dry and the slaw was refreshing so an overall great dish. The breakfast burger was also very tasty, the party tasted like good quality meat and had a tasty sauce, the bacon was slightly tough but nothing I couldn't get past, the chips were nice but needed salt, I couldn't taste any salt at all but they have some nice herbs on them. Overall a good experience, very busy and we got there at 8.20-8.30 and got the last park on comer street left so I'd recommend getting there early to beat the rush :) will be going back

Oh my. Firstly, what a beautiful space. Clean lines, gorgeous art on the walls, cute as a button tables and chairs. It's such a stunning new space. The place was busy on a Sat morning, but my friend and I didn't have to wait long for a table. The waitress was really lovely and accommodating. Order at the counter. Menu is really cool, lots of exotic options to choose from. Asian/Australian/American fusion dishes. I had trouble choosing as everything looked really good but I went with the Singaporean Chilli Crab Omelette with toast. It's not every day you see crab on a breakfast menu! The omelette was insanely good. Spicy, but not too overpowering, the flavour combination of sweet crab and hot chilli was just perfect. The omelette was also cooked really beautifully, not too crunchy. Lovely to mop up the sauce with the toast too. Batch Brew coffee was quite nice too. My friend L really enjoyed her 62 degree egg and house made baked beans with garlic bread, and ordered a second coffee on the way out as she enjoyed it so much. Can't wait to return!
This a beautiful place to relax and enjoy some lovely tea and bite into some unique brunch options. Servings are a good size and the atmosphere light and fresh. The staff are very friendly and accommodating too. Hopefully they have high chairs the next time we head there and will be a little more kid friendly.

Both dishes were delicious! My favourite was the Singaporean chilli crab omelette - I will definitely be coming back for that! The French toast was generous in its serving size but just a little too sweet for me - only because I'm not much of a sweet tooth. Besides that, prices were reasonable, staff were friendly, and I would definitely recommend it as a chilled place for little catchups with the girls or anyone over warm food! Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu!

I really wanted to try this place out after seeing amazing foodporn photos on Instagram. The main photo that caught my eye was the Singaporean chilli crab omelette which I knew I had to try. Luckily my lovely foodie friend and I were free on Saturday for me to finally check this place out. It was really busy when we arrived and there was a wait. The owner was walking around getting people’s name and said she would call us once a table was free. After about 25 minutes or so she advised us that there was a share table at the back that we could sit at. We decided to agree to sit there as we were not too sure how long the wait would be to have our own table. In terms of service, given how busy they were, the waiters weren’t super attentive but by no means were they bad. We had to try and get their attention to get the menu and then when we were ready to order we were later told to order that the counter (maybe this was something they should have told us when we sat down or when the menu was given to us). Other than that, the service was efficient and food came out relatively fast. You could see the owner walking around making sure things were running smoothly and people were enjoying the food which I think is fantastic.
Had the chili crab omelette and sweet corn and zucchini fritters. Fritters were small and dry. Omelette was nice but overall I wasn't won over. Might try the brioche toast next time I feel like something sweet.

The power of Instagram was recently highlighted for me with the opening of the new Frisch and Barć in Como. I mean, I know how big of an influence social media is and I guess it depends on who and what you follow based on your interests but man, this place was all over my news feed. After all the photos I saw of that French toast pop up everywhere I just had to go check it out and I knew exactly what dish I would be eating. I know we’re all drawn to different things when it comes to food, and well, life in general, but this was a testament, not only to how much social media can influence your choices, but also, to how darn amazing that French toast was!!
Three of us got here about 11:00am and there was still quite a line. We were quite hungry so we took an outside table which nobody else seemed to want. Many things on the menu appealed to us so we ordered:
1. Ham hock baked beans with garlic bread;
2. Singapore chilli crab omelette; and
3. Sweetcorn and zucchini fritters.
All dishes tasted good and we enjoyed the Singaporean influence. One complaint was that the omelette was not quite fluffy enough. The service was quite good, as we were offered to move to a table under cover (though not inside) when it started getting quite windy. Overall, we felt that the three dishes were rather overpriced for the quantity that we got. It was a nice place but once is enough. In my opinion there are better value for money brunch places that taste just as good.
Tried the Singaporean Chili crab omelette after reading the reviews, it was amazing. The coffee was superb, the service was good. Absolutely a pleasure visiting this place. will definitely visit again and try other items too.

Frisch & Barc. Weird name right? Well it has a nice meaning and it’s all about community. Karl Ritter von Frisch discovered that bees aren’t just mindless drones, they create communities. The barc is the wild hive they build. Siblings John and Kim Wong want their cafe to be a place of community, where customers return to and always feel welcome – just like the bees to their barc. There is definitely that kind of vibe about the place with smiling, friendly staff and a couple of communal tables amongst the usual seating.
Finally made it to this famous cafe in Como, loved everything about it! The coffee, the decor, the food and the service.
Brioche French toast was moist and flavoursome, Singaporean Chili crab omelette was delightful.
Will certainly be back to try other items on the menu!

Had breakfast here this morning and overall it was a pleasant experience, everything well cooked and tasty. Only complaint - we are tea drinkers and it seems to be trendy these days to serve traditional black tea in anything other than a proper teapot. In some of the best cafes we have even been served in a big mug and today it was a glass carafe(with no lid to keep it hot). I'm quite a traditionalist when it comes to my morning cup of tea - nothing but a proper pot with a lid will do, sorry about that, but I would rather do without. Anyway having said that, we finished with a coffee which was well done and served as coffee should be served. Oh and I mustn't forget to mention that I was impressed to find out that they bake their own croissants, so perhaps we will return for a coffee and croissant sometime.
My interest was sparked a few weeks back when I saw people pouring out of a building I had thought was vacant. Low and behold a couple of days later the sign was up and I realised this influx of people was the result of purpose not a fire drill nearby ;). Yesterday called for coffee and cake. A family outing of sorts.
Beautiful fresh interior creating an easygoing casual vibe. We found seats at the large table opposite the kitchen. Unfortunately though, used dishes and coffee cups were only cleared once our coffees had arrived. Our meals were tasty, beautifully plated and coffees were good.
Love it! Busy little spot but managed to get a table quickly. Small space (stairs to upstairs was fenced off - not sure what's up there?) but big windows make it bright and airy. Free water on tap for you to collect yourself - sparkling water is free too! Amazing. Singapore chilli crab omelette was legit. The sauce was on the side so you can add as much as you like to each mouthful. Comes on a thin slice of toast and herbs and bean sprouts on the side. The breakfast burger was as you would expect from the owners of Johnny's burgers - amazing. Soft, juicy and tasty. Coffees were fragrant and made me wonder where they get their beans from. Will be returning!
Lovely decor and nice staff. Not that much seating though for a cafe and I would say there aren't many vegetarian options for a vegetarian friendly cafe. The coffee was good though and the food superb. I'd definitely go again.
Went here for brekky and got here about 7.30. Be early as it does fill up quick. Staff very friendly and very quick to receive our food. I ordered the Singapore chilli crab omelette and it was so delish perfectly spicy and lots of crab. My friend had the brioche which was delicious with fresh fruit and pandan custard. Also had a very yummy blueberry muffin with lemon curd by @glutenfreetable . Coffee was good as well.love the use of the very hungry caterpillar place holders. The cafe is so warm and friendly and I can't wait to try more of the menu.
I like the place. Parking is best across the street over near the bottle shop. The food is good although my hot chocolate was only luke warm and they don't add cream. We had the pulled pork toastie with slaw on the side. Personally I think the pulled pork was ground up too much. I would rather have had the pork shredded style. The slaw was great with a hint of Apple. We also had the corn and zucchini fritters. They were yum.
The biggest let down is the noise. People talking in the corner, and the acoustics of the place .... So noisy you just felt you have to leave. If they could cut down the bouncing noise in the place we would have stayed longer, perhaps ordered another coffee or two. Anyway. Nice to visit and extremely close to home.

Mum had the brioche french toast ($17.90) with coconut and pandan custard, berry with apple compote and crushed pistachio. It’s soft in texture with an added freshness and colour from the berries and crushed pistachio. The apple compote gave the brioche french toast its sweetness and the coconut and pandan custard added an Asian twist to the french toast.
First time went here and already loving the bright and sunny setup. Love that they also have shaded parkings behind the cafe itself.
We had the crab omelette, french toast, johnny burger and beef hash. The flavours and execution of the dishes are beautiful. Though the burger is a little disappointing as compared to Johnny's renown burger joint in Canningvale. The delivery of coffee was a bit inconsistent, one flat white has significantly more milk than the other. But the hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow is simply beautiful! Keep up the good job! We are looking forward to come back and sample the other dishes.
