The zomato reviews on this place was lacking and a bit mixed. I came here on a Saturday for lunch, January 2020. The chef looked like he had good control in the kitchen. Staff were polite and attentive. Will be back.
Loved: sirloin steak medium rare with mushroom sauce, chips and salad (greens, carrot, tomato, capsicum mayo dressing).
Liked: creamy garlic prawns with rice, pretty good. Soup of the day - broccoli, also nice. Garlic bread, crispy, very garlicy, a little bit on the oily side but good flavour.
Needs work: fish and chips. The fish was a little bit dry and didn't compete as well with the other dishes.
Other feedback: the sirloin steak is juicy and thick. Can you please serve the chips, salad and sauce separately? I loved the dish, demolished the whole thing but had to manoeuvre the steak around as I was crushing my chips.
Thanks for the positive experience. Will be back!
Was pleasantly surprised at the pork ribs plate. BBQ'd well, tasted good! Wife ordered the lamb shank which came in very big portion. Food great value, however drink prices are on the high side.
Underrated local gem. Watch for daily dining specials.
Hadn't been here here in years. Was really surprised on the look and feel of the place when we visited on a sunday evening for dinner.
Chicken parmy was good, nothing fancy but gopd portion sizs! Pork belly was also tasty and great serving size.
Will definitely head back for a weeknight pub meal to try some of the other meals on offer!
As Christmas in July draws closer I find myself pondering about last December. Like me you no doubt spent December at copious Christmas lunches and dinners. Most of those venues were probably slick modern, run of the mill places. Out of all the of venues I went the one that left me pondering the most was the Mount Henry Tavern … or The Henry as it is known by locals.
Good quality bar food and prices. Relaxed environment with areas to bet, watch sport or have a chat. They have improved over the past months. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a sit-down dinner rather than enjoying a schooner or two with mates.
A group of us (5) had dinner here last night and it was just lovely. All meals were beautifully prepared, sweets were good too. Staff very friendly and helpful. The whole evening was most enjoyable. We are locals, so will happily come again.
My New local. Love this place. Really enjoyed the seafood paella and my partner had the 400gram Rump special (managed to eat all of it!!!!)
Service was fantastic girls were really attentive. Just moved into the area, now my new local
Very reliable. Been frequentling this place for the past 6 months. Food is well priced and really tastey. Service is fantastic, staff always smiling and professional. Always recommend to family and friends
Food n service. Good food and very friendly and polite staff..Wish more of Perth restaurants were like this..
Went last night with family. Excellent service and food was fantastic!! Seafood platter was to die for. Will be returning very soon!
Good Improvement. We used to live in the local area before moving overseas. We have now returned to the area and have been impressed with the changes here. We used to frequent the pub until it was over run by pretentious uni morons. It has always been a simple pub but the changes here have been welcomed by us. The atmosphere is so much better. The food was really good. The staff are so much better aswell although there was one manager (i think he was a manager) who was eating behind the bar which didnt look very good. The general manager went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We have come back a few times now and are quite happy for it to be our local again.
The new management has done a great job with the place. The menu has had a revamp and the staff are more friendly. I had the pork belly with scallops and mustard sauce for main. The scallops were small but cooked perfectly. And the pork belly was delicious, all you needed was a butter knife. Mustard sauce was light and tasty, can recommend for a cheap and easy feed
6 of us ate here on Saturday night, 15.6.13, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The fish was lovely as were the shanks and the scallopini. I had the beef and Guinness pie which was tasty and plentiful but could have had thicker gravy. Politeness from staff but not a lot of attention. All in all though....no complaints.
In context, fantastic place. Cheap steaks over the bar are legit. Highly recommend for the price. Late 90s early 00s soundtrack every day is also dope. Will continue to come almost every week; never change Mt Henry
Better and cheaper then the karalee
This place was borderline vote " I like". Admittedly we had a party of 40 people but all our orders were mixed up and 3 people who ordered the roast beef couldn't eat it. Luckily I ordered the sirloin steak which was pretty good, but it wasnt supposed to come with fries but it did....sigh! Not a place I would highly recommend but if you are in the area chasing a beer with a meal and willing to yry your luck this place could be it?!
No frills hearty meals. You know if every pub/restaurant in Perth understood their simple formula of great food, generous portions and reasonable prices, we'd have a lot more places to go at. And all the pretentious, overpriced places would have a lot more competition on their hands. Good work Mt Henry Tav for my splendid grilled fish, chips and salad. My colleagues' steak sandwich and calamari were generous and delicious too. How hard can it be Perth? :)
